ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 14, 2022.

He’s a man of few words, but she fills his soul with poetry.

Quiet. Brooding. Capable. Shaw’s mission is simple: Root out Stonemore’s leader and determine what the Divine has in store for the people of Zora and the Kings. Just as he gets started, however, a breathtakingly beautiful woman finds and tempts him like no other. Nothing can stop him from engaging in the pleasures she offers. After all, pillow talk is sometimes the best way to uncover secrets.

Nia’s life has never been hers. From starving on the streets to becoming a slave to the Divine, she merely does what’s needed to survive. But when her latest assignment brings her face-to-face with a handsome man who makes her feel things she’s never experienced before, she begins to see that while she’s been living, she’s not really thriving.

As truths are revealed, and Nia’s blinders are removed, she realizes that she can no longer sit by and allow things to continue as they have been in her city. It’s time to take a stand. With Shaw by her side, they spark a war so many have tried to avoid. But the injustices being perpetrated must be stopped—no matter the cost.

REVIEW:DRAGON ETERNAL is the fourth instalment in Donna Grant’s adult DRAGON KINGS paranormal/fantasy romance series-a spin of from the author’s Dark Kings series. This is King of the Sapphire Dragons Shaw, and human female Nia’s story line. DRAGON ETERNAL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. The author does reveal the history between the dragons and humans.

SOME BACKGROUND: For tens of thousands of years the Dragons have lived and ruled on Earth but a war between the dragons and humans forced the Dragon Kings to send the other dragons through a portal into an unknown world. Fast forward to present day, the portal has been revealed, and the Dragon Kings have been reunited with their family and kin in Zora, but a new war is on the horizon between the Dragons, the Divine and the people of Stonemore.

Told from third person perspective DRAGON ETERNAL follows King of the Sapphire Dragons Shaw as he and Dragon King Merrill are tasked with uncovering the truth behind the power and purpose of the Divine. In Stonemore, children with magic are put to death, and in this, the Dragons want to end the killings before more children and magic are destroyed but Shaw never expected to meet Nia, a young woman supposedly cherished by the Divine, a young woman ordered to seduce our story line hero. Nia knew that to gain her freedom she would have to obey the Divine’s missive but Nia quickly found herself falling for a Dragon King, the beast she was ordered to seduce and captivate. Not all was going according to plan as Shaw fell for the woman who could have been his enemy, a woman he knew he would claim as his own. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Nia and Shaw, and the potential fall-out as the Divine and his minions are desperate to capture a Dragon King for their own.

Meanwhile, Merrill has been working his way through the streets of Stonemore, in an effort to uncover the who, how and why of the Divine but Merrill has gone missing, and the Dragon King may be the next target for the Soldier Priests of the Divine. As Merrill searches for the truth, King of the Dragon King’s son Brandr, has ventured on his own, in an effort to ferret out an enemy he knows nothing about.

The relationship between Nia and Shaw is predicated upon a lie and an obsession. Nia is ordered to seduce our story line hero, and Shaw finds himself falling for a woman that calls to his heart. The $ex scenes are limited but intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including a number of the Dragon Kings we have met in the Dark Kings series, as well as Con and Rhi, alchemist Sian, Tamlyn and Cullen, Merrill, Villette, Henry the Druid, and the return of Teal Dragon King Vaughn, and his mate half fae-half dragon hybrid Eurwen, Eurwen’s brother and twin Brandr, and Nia’s hand maiden Sadie. The requisite evil has many faces.

DRAGON ETERNAL is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, relationships, friendships, family and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is fated; the characters are powerful and charismatic.

Cairnkeep

Shaw stood with his eyes closed on the cliff near Cairnkeep and listened to the dragons. The flaps of their wings, their roars as they called to one another, and the whoosh as they flew. He had missed the sounds the most.
He drew in a deep breath and slowly released it, enjoying the feel of the sun upon his face. The dragons’ peaceful noises calmed the rage inside him. Most of his Dragon King brethren pretended that fury didn’t exist. But it was there.
Always.
Until now. For the first time in ages, he felt as if things were back to normal.
Except, they weren’t.
They were far from it, actually. Yet, for this moment, he could pretend as if they were on Earth, that the dragons had never been sent away, and that they had never heard of humans.
Sadly, all of that was simply wishing. Because the mortals had come, there had been a war, and the dragons had been sent away. For so long, Shaw, like many Dragon Kings, had feared they would never find their dragons again.
He opened his eyes and looked at the mountains around him. Zora. A realm the Dragon Kings only recently discovered that had been the dragons’ home since that fateful day on Earth. Zora was a spectacular realm. Majestic mountains, breathtaking plains, stunning forests, and everything in between. Every vista was dazzling in its splendor. The sky was brighter, the oceans bluer, the grass greener.
Shaw felt whole once more. And it was all because he was with the dragons.

His kiss was fire and passion. She shivered, wondering how he knew just how to touch her, to send her spiraling into an abyss of pleasure…

For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows—and existing only in the world of dreams—is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her…or love her until the end of time.

Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he’s so willing to share his secrets and bear his soul? He hasn’t met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in…forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces—in the name of love?

•••••

REVIEW: FEVER is the sixteenth full-length instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal/fantasy series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. This is citrine Dragon King Kelton Dreagon, and anthropologist Bernadette Davies. FEVER should not be read as a stand alone as the current story lines continue to follow an ongoing series arc.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Silver Dragon Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides but someone or something is determined to push the Dragons back into another war: Queen Usaeil of the Light Fae has set her sights on claiming King Constantine as her mate, hoping to rule the world with their combined powers; King Taraeth and Silver Dragon Mikkel have been killed; and the Dark Fae are now under the control of the former Light Fae Balladyn. With the recent introduction of the Fae executioners known as the Reapers, the number of interconnected series continues to expand.

Told from several third person perspectives including Kelton and Bernadette FEVER is an ensemble story line with numerous subplots that advance the series towards its’ final chapter. Dragon King Kelton is sent to keep an eye on human female Bernadette Davies, who is threatening to reveal the existence of dragons to the world but something about Bernadette’s need to expose the almighty beast appears forced and out of her control. As Kelton struggles with his attraction to the human female, our hero will come face to face with his future when Bernadette arrives on Dreagon with news of her own. With King Constantine imprisoned by Queen Usaeil, the Light Fae Rhi, the Dark Fae led by Balladyn, and the Dragon Kings prepare to go to war, a war in which not everyone will survive. The Light Fae Xaneth is missing, and with war on the horizon, his life may be forfeit or lost for all eternity. What ensues is the building but reluctant relationship between Bernadette and Kelton, and a battle wherein lines are drawn, secrets are revealed, and death on the battlefield may be the ultimate sacrifice.

Like many of the previous instalments, FEVER chronicles the history of the Dragon Kings, Fae, Druids and Warriors; recounts the beginnings of Dreagon; and recaps the events that led to the original war between humans and dragonkind. Sides will be chosen when lies pit Dark against Light but not everything or everyone is what or whom they appear to be.

Donna Grant continues to the pull the reader towards the final chapter in her fantastic Dark Kings paranormal series. Some conflict resolution is achieved but many questions remain, hinting at what’s to come, what’s next, and who may be Rhi’s fated King, a fate destroyed by manipulation, jealousy and greed. The action packed premise is revealing and intriguing; the characters are numerous, colorful and energetic; the romance struggles in the face of magic, manipulation and the potential for future control.

Try as he might to ignore the desire that grew the longer he was around Bernadette, it became impossible. Keltan couldn’t look away from her jade eyes. He wanted to run his fingers through her chin length black hair and pull her against him to feel her body against his.
He couldn’t feel this.
He shouldn’t feel this.
But there was no stopping it. It happened without him even realizing it. Her wit, her charm, her honesty all complimented her beauty until he was utterly mesmerized, completely enthralled.
Yet his attraction was doomed. The moment she decided to leave Dreagan was when her memories would be wiped. He couldn’t do that to either of them. It wouldn’t be fair.
But she was so close, her eyes so captivating. He could get lost in her jade depths, exploring the simple beauty that was her soul. When he’d first heard of her, he’d thought the worst. Even when he sat at her lecture, he hadn’t given her the benefit of the doubt.
It wasn’t until she came to Dreagan and he spent time with her that he’d seen her. Really seen her. He didn’t even think she was aware of how open she was. And that was exactly why Bernadette had been chosen by Usaeil.
Bernadette was trusting and honest and open to the unknown. Some might call her a fool or naïve, but Keltan saw her as something precious, something pure that everyone else lost sometime in childhood. Somehow, she had kept it.
And he didn’t want her to lose it. Not now. Not ever.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 15, 2019

Born to rule the skies as a Dragon King with power and magic, Cináed hides his true identity in the mountains of Scotland with the rest of his brethren. But there is no respite for them as they protect the planet and the human occupants from threats. However, a new, more dangerous enemy has targeted the Kings. One that will stop at nothing until dragons are gone forever. But Cináed discovers a woman from a powerful, ancient Druid bloodline who might have a connection to this new foe.

Solitude is sanctuary for Gemma. Her young life was upended one stormy night when her family disappears, leaving her utterly alone. She learned to depend solely on herself from then on. But no matter where she goes she feels…lost. As if she missed the path she was supposed to take. Everything changes when she backs into the most dangerously seductive man she’s ever laid eyes. Gemma surrenders to the all-consuming attraction and the wild, impossible love that could destroy them both – and finds her path amid magic and dragons.

•••••••

REVIEW: DRAGON CLAIMED is instalment 14.5 and novella in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult, DARK KINGS paranormal/fantasy series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is Dragon King Cináed, and thirty year old, researcher Gemma Atherton’s story line. DRAGON CLAIMED can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order.

The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides but someone or something is determined to push the Dragons back into another war; Mikkel wants to become King of the Silvers, Queen Usaeil of the Light Fae has set her sights on claiming King Constantine as her mate, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon in order to rule Scotland and the rest of the world. With the emergence of a group known as the Others, the Dark Kings are facing several supernatural enemies determined to destroy them all.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cináed and Gemma) DRAGON CLAIMED follows Dragon King Cináed as he searches for a woman with connections to the past. Twenty-three years earlier Gemma Atherton was the sole survivor of a sudden but mysterious storm that took her parents and older brother. Fast forward to present day wherein Gemma will come face to face with a man who is willing to help her uncover the truth. Having changed her name and desperate to stay out of the public eye, this is Gemma’s first real chance at discovering the who, how and why of that fateful day. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Gemma and Cináed, and the potential fall-out as Cináed and Gemma are targeted by the Others.

Gemma Atherton knows that something was wrong the day her family disappeared; the feeling of evil permeated the grounds, an evil that continues to threaten to destroy her world. Cináed suspects there is more to Gemma than meets the eye but our heroine is oblivious to her ancient heritage, a heritage that makes her a target of the Dark Kings’ enemy.

The relationship between Cináed and Gemma is one of immediate and palpable sexual attraction. Cináed is drawn to Gemma like a moth to a flame. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include the King of the Orange Dragons Merrill, Druid elder Corann, as well as Queen Usaeil of the Light Fae, and a quick appearance by Ryder, and a few of the dragon mates.

The world building continues to focus on the Dragon Kings’ struggle to stay one step ahead of impending war. Queen Usaeil is determined to make King Constantine her mate but drops a hint about potential, future changes to the Dragon Kings and the women they love.

DRAGON CLAIMED is a story of loss and hope, survival and revelations. The premise is intriguing and spirited; the characters are animated and dynamic; the romance is fated and intimate. DRAGON CLAIMED is a welcome addition to Donna Grant’s Dark Kings paranormal romance series.

•••••••••

REVIEW: TORCHED is the thirteenth full-length instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. TORCHED should not be read as a stand alone as this is Ulrik, King of the Silvers’ story line, a story line that has been developing since the first instalment.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Ulrik the Silver Dragon King and his uncle Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides-but Ulrik wants revenge against King Constantine of the Dragon Kings; Mikkel wants to become King of the Silvers, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon in order to rule Scotland and the rest of the world.

Told from several third person perspectives that follow several intersecting paths TORCHED focuses on the King of the Silvers Ulrik as he struggles with his waning need for revenge against the King of Kings versus his duty to protect the dragons he still considers brothers and friends. Thousands of years earlier, Ulrik pledged vengeance against King Constantine for the death of the human woman he once loved- a woman whose betrayal would have meant the death of them all. In the ensuing war between dragon and man, Ulrik killed thousands of humans before Con banished his brother locking his magic and ability to shift. Fast forward to present time wherein Ulrik has worked diligently to reclaim what is rightfully his only to be hindered at every turn by a familiar dragon. With his Uncle Mikkel, working together with a powerful Druid, Ulrik soon turns his vengeance against one of his own. Meanwhile a beautiful woman of immense power, struggles between good and evil, as she searches for the mother she never knew. With Ulrik’s guidance, she will come into her own, as she steps into a war between heirs to the Silver throne.

The turn of events in the impending war between the dragons and the Fae begins to unravel as Con and Queen Usaeil no longer see eye to eye; and Rhi is no longer welcome back to the place she has always called home.

TORCHED is a heartbreaking, detailed and revealing story line where lines are drawn, friendships forged, redemption and forgiveness offered and accepted. One-time friends will become enemies, as long-time relationships crash and burn. The author brings together Death and her Reapers, along with the return of the Druids and Warriors, for some much needed back up, if only to connect all of the back stories, magic and series into one. Donna Grant’s DARK KINGS is a spirited, thrilling and exhilarating series. TORCHED is a dramatic tale of restitution, reclamation, absolution and love.

Excerpt

Sebastian was there.
She turned her head to look at him. He met her gaze, his clear eyes holding some kind of emotion she couldn’t quite name, but through it she saw the fires of desire as if he were lit from the inside with them.
It caused her stomach to flutter in excitement and her feet to stop working. She stumbled, which caused his arm to wrap around her waist as he drew to a stop and hauled her against him. They stared silently into each other’s eyes as the crowds parted and walked around them. The steady thumping of his heartbeat could be felt beneath her palms.
What was it about Sebastian that made her forget herself? She was a different person with him, one that not only enjoyed his touch—but craved it.
The problem was, she liked how she felt around him. She enjoyed how he made her feel, and how she wanted to feel. The desire, the need, the hunger. She reached for it, accepted it.
Embraced it.
She didn’t know how long they stood there lost in each other’s eyes. For a brief moment, she wondered if it was one-sided. Could Sebastian feel the same as her? Did she dare allow herself to follow wherever this road led, no matter how many doorways she walked through?
No matter what it might expose within herself?
No matter what longing it might reveal?
No matter if she found herself walking alone?
She was standing on the edge of a precipice while he stood on nothing but air, holding out his hand and urging her to jump. Never one to take such a chance, she found herself wanting to do just that.
Even if it meant that she could hit the ground so hard she might never get up again.
It was strange to even consider any of this. Yet here she was. There should be more fear, more concern. Perhaps it was the desire overshadowing those other emotions.
“Gianna,” he began.
Her cell phone vibrated in her purse, causing her to jump and shattering whatever had held them enthralled. She couldn’t help but wonder if destiny was trying to tell her something. It was the second time they’d been interrupted that day when she’d felt sure he was going to kiss her.

The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides-but Ulrik wants revenge against King Constantine of the Dragon Kings; Mikkel wants to become King of the Silvers, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon, and to rule Scotland and the rest of the world. SMOKE AND FIRE overlaps with Donna’s new spin off series THE REAPERS who may be a potential ally with the Dragons Kings in their war with the Dark Fae.

Told from several third person points of view SMOKE AND FIRE focuses on Kinsey Burns and her return to Ryder’s life. Believing she has been ordered to Dreagan on behalf of the IT firm for which she works, Kinsey comes face to face with the man (dragon) she once believed was ‘the one’. Three years earlier Ryder walked away from Kinsey without a reason as to why, leaving a broken hearted and shattered woman in his wake. Fast forward to present day where three weeks earlier Ryder revealed the true nature of his beast when Kinsey was attacked by the Dark Fae. What ensues is the slow rekindling of a relationship destroyed by the secrets Ryder was never willing or allowed to tell; and his fear that Con would have destroyed the woman that he loved. With Kinsey’s return comes thoughts of betrayal and heartbreak from the man who once held her heart and her soul.

SMOKE AND FIRE continues to follow the building war between the Dragons and the Dark Fae; the Silver Dragon King Ulrik and his Uncle Mikkel; and their battle for supremacy over the King of Kings Con. Rhi returns to struggle with her feelings for the Dragon King who destroyed her heart, and the Dark Fae Balladyn who is willing to give Rhi everything that he can but not the man that she wants. Rhi’s ‘cloaked companion’ will let Rhi know that he isn’t about to end her life but continues to follow Rhi wherever she goes. Con’s dalliances with the Light Fae may place the King of Kings on the front page news, and threaten everything that he has worked for to protect the Dragon Kings.

Donna Grant is slowly revealing the past, the present and the possible future for the Dragon Kings of Dreagan-their secreted lives; the hidden truth; the potential destruction of everything on earth if the Dragons go to war with the Dark Fae. Ulrik wants revenge against the man he once called a brother; and Con is willing to protect their secret at all costs. SMOKE AND FIRE is another story line that adds to the suspense of a possible war. The premise is engaging; the characters are heartbreaking and charismatic; the romance is a second chance at love. I can only hope that whatever Donna has planned for her Dragons is revealed shortly-there are quite a number of plotlines starting to converge and overlap, while others take off in another direction. The layers are building yet very little has been revealed.

FEEL THE BURN (Dragon Kin #8) by G.A.Aiken-a dual review

Feel The Burn

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / The Book Depository / BAM

About the book: Release Date November 24, 2015

War makes strange bedfellows.

I, Gaius Domitus, one-eyed rebel dragon king of the Provinces, know that better than most, since I have to fight off half my ungrateful family on a regular basis to keep law and order here in my lands. But I never expected to have to consort with a barbarian human woman.

Kachka is beautiful, if you like them fierce—and of course I do. But she keeps complaining about how spoiled and decadent I am, and how a feared Daughter of the Steppes has no time for foolish dragons. I think she likes my eye patch, though. It is quite dashing. With death always at our tails, we take our passion like we take our allies. As they say, love the barbarian you’re with.

Sandy’s Review

REVIEW: FEEL THE BURN is the eighth full length installment in G.A Aiken’s adult DRAGON KIN fantasy series focusing on a group of dragon shifters and their mates. This is one-eyed Rebel Dragon King Gaius Domitus, and human female Rider warrior Kachka’s storyline. FEEL THE BURN should not be read as a stand alone as there are many references to previous storylines, plots and premise all leading towards a major war for Queen Annwyl and her family of dragons.

Told from several third person perspectives FEEL THE BURN follows several different plotlines that converge in battle with a declaration of war between Annwyl’s armies and the evil forces hoping to destroy the abominations (Talan, Talwyn and Rhiannwen). As such, FEEL THE BURN has a very large ensemble cast of characters including the introduction of several new players, as well as most of the previous storyline couples, dragons, the extended Cadwaladr Clan and a new branch of the dragon family on Uncle Rhys’s side. Annwyl and Feargus’s thirty year old twins Talan and Talwyn, along with Briec and Talaith’s daughter Rhi play a more significant role then in previous storylines as their powers continue to grow exponentially. There is also the introduction of another god, whose focus centers on one of the, now, adult children.

The building relationship between King Gaius and the Rider known as Kachka is not the primary focus of the storyline but almost an afterthought to the journey and preparations for war. The romance and $ex scenes are limited due to the nature of the plot, and the converging paths towards battle finds little time for exploring the sexual side of their relationship. There are some definite humorous moments between Celyn and Elina as the constant barrage of interruptions finds this couple unable to find some alone time without an audience or distraction.

We were first introduced to Gaius and Kachka in LIGHT MY FIRE (Celyn and Elina’s storyline). Kachka is Elina’s sister, and a formidable warrior who is sent on a quest to retrieve something long, thought gone. Kachka has little respect for most of the people and dragons in her life. She is a barbarian with a penchant for violence, back talk, and yet she is commanded by Queen Annwyl to serve and obey. With this, Kachka sets out on her journey with a very small army of fighters, including Celyn’s sister Branwen, to retrieve a potentially, powerful weapon against anyone possessing a secondary power or magic.

Gaius is the Rebel King and a dragon who seeks revenge for the abduction and torture of his sister-something, for which, he blames himself. While trying to ensure Kachka’s survival on her journey for the Queen, Gaius promises retribution for the evil inflicted upon his younger sister. One of the final battle scenes follows Gaius as he seeks revenge against the person who has tried to destroy their lives only to see retribution disappear in a flash.

FEEL THE BURN is a little more graphically violent than previous storylines but such is the nature of war; the battle of good vs evil; and revenge. Alongside the blood, death and dismemberment, G.A. Aiken adds her amazing talent for comedic wit, sarcasm and humor such that I found myself giggling at the most inappropriate times-Aidan’s family dinner scene is a laugh out loud snort-fest as the Riders continue to sing their ‘song of death’. And don’t get me started on the recitation of all of the Rider’s full names.

Along with the previous storyline (Light My Fire), FEEL THE BURN has shifted the arc and focus of the series away from romance and individual couples, to a fantasy tale of adventure and legend; a saga that draws in more characters, more magic, and mythology resulting in an aggregation and association of various species of dragons, supernatural elements and beings all battling towards a common goal. G.A.Aiken (aka Shelly Laurenston) is one of my favorite paranormal/fantasy authors-you can’t go wrong with a dragon shifter storyline-they are the protectors of the supernatural world.

Barb’s Review

Feel the Burn by G.A. Aiken is the 8th book in her wonderful Dragon Kin series. This is one of my top favorite series, which has put G.A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston close to the top of my most favorite authors. I never fail after reading a Dragon Kin book to find myself feeling happy, laughing and totally in love with all the characters that she creates in this series. For those of you have not read the Dragon Kin series or anything by Laurenston/Aiken, you are missing a magnificent series that is a joy to read, not to mention exciting and steamy at the same time. No one makes me laugh like she does; such a talented author. In every book, we get to tag along on a journey with two people we already know, and watch them bond, not to mention spending such quality time with all the other couples and characters we have met in all the books. Fantastic.

Feel the Burn belongs to Gaius, the one eyed Rebel King and Kachka Shestakova, Elina’s (last book heroine) sister. Kachka is one of the Daughters of the Steppes ( I will not bother to repeat her full title 😉 ), she is finding herself bored with boring men (Dragons)in Southland. But when Queen Annwyl, sends her on mission, Kachka is happy to go, even if it is extremely dangerous. Since all Daughters of the Steppes feel men are worthless, Kachka enlists other members of the Daughters of the Steppes to help her. The mission was to retrieve something and to help stop followers of the evil Chramnesind, who were slaughtering priests/priestesses who did not believe in their religion. With a war on the horizon, and coming to close to Southland, all of these women are up to the challenge, and what a group of warriors they are. So many great new characters; especially Zoya that has us laughing so many times, even when they were killing anyone standing in their way.

Gaius, the king of the provinces, was on his own journey to find the person who kidnapped and hurt his sister, only to find himself bewitched and kidnapped. Kachka and her group save him from sure death.   Gaius becomes enamored by the fierce, tough , crazy but beautiful Kachka. Their romance was a slow build, with Gaius being the perfect man for her, as he totally adored her aggressive barbarian nature. Their relationship was fun to watch.

The story was exciting, as the group faced danger at every turn. This adventure was just the beginning of the war that will continue in future books. Kachka and the Daughters of the Steppes were a wild and crazy bunch, not to mention hysterical; Gaius proved to be a great partner and teammate that showed the Daughters that not all men are worthless. I also loved that Brannie played a big part in this story, and loved Aidan.   This was non-stop action, intrigue, danger, adventure, violence, fantastic characters and hilarity. Nobody does this better than G.A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston.

Feel the Burn continues the world building of Dragon Kin with another wonderful book. It was so great to see them all again, with all the wild craziness that makes us smile each and every time. I can never have enough of this series.

Dragon King

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 25, 2015

A Woman on a Mission

Grace Clark has always done things safe. She’s never colored outside of the law, but she has a book due and has found the perfect spot to break through her writer’s block. Or so she thinks. Right up until Arian suddenly appears and tries to force her away from the mountain. Unaware of the war she just stumbled into, Grace doesn’t just discover the perfect place to write, she finds Arian—the most gorgeous, enticing, mysterious man she’s ever met.

A King with a Purpose

Arian is a Dragon King who has slept away centuries in his cave. Recently woken, he’s about to leave his mountain to join his brethren in a war when he’s alerted that someone has crossed onto Dreagan. He’s ready to fight . . . until he sees the woman. She’s innocent and mortal—and she sets his blood aflame. He recognizes the danger approaching her just as the dragon within him demands he claim her for his own.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: DRAGON KING by Donna Grant is the latest entry into the multi-authored 1001 DARK NIGHTS series as well as Donna’s Dark Kings paranormal, romance series focusing on the continuing struggle of the Dragon Kings and their one-time ally and friend King Ulrik. DRAGON KING is a novella that focuses on the awakening of Dragon King Arian as a war between the Dragons and Fae is on the horizon.

SOME BACKGROUND: Hundreds of years earlier the Dragon Kings were betrayed by Ulrik’s human female lover and in retaliation Con-the King of Kings- and the other Dragon Kings killed the woman who revealed the existence of the dragons to mankind. What ensued was the devastation of the dragon species, and a war between dragon and man. To contain Ulrik’s anger and vengeance for the death of the woman that he loved, the Dragon King’s locked away Ulrik’s magic, and sent Ulrik and his Silver Dragons to sleep. But Ulrik has awoken before his time, and with it comes an alliance with the Dark Fae as they set their sights on uncovering the location of a secret weapon known only to King Constantine with the potential to destroy all of the Dragon Kings.

DRAGON KING follows Grace Clark-a romance author and writer who lost her muse. Her publisher has offered Grace a three week extension but writer’s block continues to hamper Grace’s attempts at writing her story. A trip to Scotland finds Grace pulled towards the mountain where Dragon King Arian has recently awoken, and with it will come an immediate attraction to one another as Arian must defend the human female against the Dark Fae and King Con.

The relationship between Arian and Grace is quick to develop. Arian believes Grace is his mate but Con’s distrust of the human species finds Arian in an emotional battle with the King of Kings, and a struggle to let walk away the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scene is seduction and hot.

Several of the Dragon Kings play a secondary and supporting role; Ulrik’s presence is by way of mention; the Dark Fae continue to seek out the entrance to Dreagon in search of the elusive and secret weapon.

DRAGON KING is a welcome addition to the Dark Kings series; a quick read that sees another Dragon King finding his mate- the other half to his soul. Con continues to battle his hatred and distrust of humans-his anger and bitterness worsens as the Dragon Kings find their mates from within the human population. Donna Grant’s DARK KING series is a must read; I love the supernatural world of the Dragon Kings and the women whom they love.
