With just one fiery embrace I could destroy her…or love her until the end of time.

I am fire and death. My very presence brings terror and panic. For most, I am the last thing they will ever see. For there is only one thing I live for — freeing my kin.

Every action, every battle brings me a step closer. Nothing distracts me from my purpose.

Until she crosses my path.

Brave and fearless, she holds me utterly enthralled. I have to know her. Her past and her future. But especially the secrets she keeps closely guarded.

One taste of her lips, and I’m caught. Trapped. Seized. The more I’m with her, the harder it is to leave. But I have sworn allegiance to another who promises to free the dragons.

Her or my kin. It was once an easy choice.

Before my heart got involved.

REVIEW: THE BASTARD KING is the first instalment in Donna Grant’s adult THE BASTARD DUOLOGY paranormal, romance duet, set in the author’s THE DRAGON KINGS series. This is dragon shifter Derek and Kora’s story line. The BASTARD KING should not be read as a stand alone. I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise including the search for a missing King, and the history as to how the dragons came to live in Zora.

SOME BACKGROUND: For tens of thousands of years the Dragons have lived and ruled on Earth but a war between the dragons and humans forced the Dragon Kings to send the other dragons through a portal into an unknown world. Fast forward to present day, the portal has been revealed, and the Dragon Kings have been reunited in Zora, with their family and kin, but a new war is on the horizon between the Dragons, the Divine, the people of Stonemore, and a woman known as Villette

Told from omniscient third person perspectives including Derek and Kora THE BASTARD KING follows Kora as she searches for the woman known as Villette, hidden behind the stronghold called Stonemore but along the way Kora is killed not once, but twice, and each time she believes she has been rescued by a man name Derek. As Derek aids Kora on her quest to find Villette, little does Kora know that Derek knows, and is more, than she could have ever imagined. Kora has her own secrets that she fears will send Derek into places unknown but Derek’s secrets are a threat to our heroine, a threat that grows stronger as Derek and Kora find themselves falling for one another on their journey to take down Villette.

The world building now focuses on the hunt for Villette: a need for avenge the past; and Derek’s discovery that he is not alone on his trek to free the dragon but Derek has been naïve to presume he is alone in the world, taking orders from a woman who plans to destroy them all.

The relationship between Kora and Dederick aka Derek begins as friends but neither one trust the other; both have secrets that could end their lives but Derek’s attraction to Kora cannot be explained by simple attraction. As the couple enters Stonemore, secrets and lies threaten their existence, betrayal comes at every turn. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are numerous-most are questionable and often threatening and dangerous. A missing Dragon King is discovered, Villette and her sister Miena reveal their plans for the dragons.

THE BASTARD KING is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, magic and murder, mistrust and betrayal, vengeance and madness. The premise is detailed and complex; the romance is passionate but struggles in the face of secrets and lies; the characters are desperate and determined. THE BASTARD KING ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 5, 2023

The holiday season is Rhi’s favorite time of year, which means Con loves it, too. Except they’re on Zora, where there are no traditions—and beginning one could be hazardous. Finding the lost dragons should’ve given everyone peace. Instead, they’re facing powerful enemies at every turn. Despite the danger, the King of Dragon Kings knows his mate longs to have their space dripping with holiday decorations and gifts piled under the tree, and he’s going to do his best to give it to her and make sure they have time to celebrate the season and their love.
And perhaps a surprise or two.

••••

REVIEW:DRAGON FROST is a stand alone, holiday novella in Donna Grant’s DRAGON KINGS paranormal, fantasy series, a part of the numerous interconnected Dark Kings series. This is the continuing story of Constantine, King of Dragon Kings, and his mate, Fae warrior and Queen Rhi. DRAGON FROST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for backstory I recommend reading the series in order or having knowledge of previous events.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Rhi and Con) DRAGON FROST focuses on the approach of the Christmas holidays. Con’s mate Rhi loves Christmas, her favorite human holiday but life in Zora is anything by happy for our story line couple. Ostracized by his own children, and the dragons he sent to another realm, Con struggles with his new direction and position but in an effort to make his mate happy, Con plans a holiday celebration for two, taking a trip to the Fae Realm, in spite of what happened months before.

Donna Grant pulls the reader into an emotional story of one man (dragon’s) emotional and powerful love for the woman he lost then found. Watching his mate’s childlike abandon meant more to Con than he could have ever imagined but their exchange of gifts is about change his life, in more ways than one.

DRAGON FROST is a sweet, tender and heart warming holiday short story focusing on Con and Rhi. The premise is captivating-there are no conflicts or pressing issues for our story line couple ; the romance is seductive ; the characters are familiar and fun.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2023

Passion’s magic ignites a fire too hot to touch—and too wicked to die…

The stars have always called to Ailis, beckoning her to see what other realms were out there. She’s told its impossible, but that doesn’t stop her need to explore beyond what others believe. Ailis never expected to change history by creating the first doorway to another realm. She certainly never imagined opening that door to find a commanding dragon who shifts into a man. She’s irresistibly drawn to Lennox, powerless against the yearning of her body and the longing of her heart.

Magic might have chosen Lennox as King of Dragon Kings, but it’s a position he’s never wanted. Until the day a new being arrives—and irrevocably changes his life. The closer he gets to the fearless, ravishing woman, the more he fights the passion that flares between them. He lives only for his duty, but one fiery kiss unleashes a firestorm of desire that will ripple across eons and realms. Fate might have brought them together, but will it also tear them apart?

The origins of the Dark Kings/Dragon Kings and the entire Dark Universe is finally revealed.

•••••

REVIEW:IGNITE THE MAGIC by Donna Grant is the prequel story line revealing the origins of the author’s Dark Kings and Dragon Kings series. This is King of Dragon Kings Lennox, and Dark Fae Ailis’ story line. IGNITE THE MAGIC can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, it is best have some prior understanding and working knowledge of the series.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Lennox and Ailis) IGNITE THE MAGIC introduces the back story and history when the Dragons makes first contact with someone from another realm. Ailis is a Dark Fae, and after ‘borrowing’ a book of magic, travels through a magical door onto a place she will come to know as Earth. Coming face to face with Lennox, King of the Dragon Kings, Ailis believes she has entered another dimension but will quickly discover her magic and presence changes the history of the dragons forever. Ailis and Lennox know they are one another’s fated mate but all is not well in the world of the Dragon, and Lennox must make some hard decisions including hiding the woman with whom he has fallen in love.

IGNITE THE MAGIC is a story of discovery and acceptance, discrimination and betrayal, power and control, love and understanding. The character driven premise is heart breaking, emotional and revealing; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are powerful and determined.

Lennox knew every creature on the realm, and the one before him wasn’t one of them. The being was small, seemingly harmless, but underestimating her would be his folly. He climbed out of the water, intending to investigate this new arrival—and what it wanted. His duty was to protect the dragons and the realm itself—from anything he deemed a threat. And until he knew differently, the newcomer was exactly that.
While he didn’t know what it was yet, his magic informed him that it was female. He took in her exotic look, finding it surprisingly appealing. Her thick hair fell nearly to her hips, the black strands woven with bright silver. Her oval face was both delicate and fierce—a combination that utterly intrigued him. Her crimson eyes were ringed in black, making her thick, midnight lashes more pronounced. She had high cheekbones, a stubborn tilt to her chin, and lips that drew his gaze again and again.
She wore garments to cover herself, which he found curious. Though he had to admit he liked the way they contoured to her body, showcasing every amazing curve. The article closest to her skin was so dark a green it was nearly black. Over that was a piece of black leather laced up her front to end in a V at her breasts, showing the green beneath it and then her beige skin.
Draped across her body was a length of leather with a bag attached at the end. Her legs were encased in black with material that looked as supple and pliable as skin. Her feet were also covered in leather, albeit thicker, the material going all the way up to her knees.
His gaze moved back to her mouth as she spoke. He frowned as he listened to the inaudible words. Lennox then noticed the iridescent orbs in each of her hands. He immediately realized it was magic of some sort. So, this female had magic as dragons did. Interesting.
She spoke again, and his power began to decipher the words.
“…well? Get on with it,” she demanded.
Lennox fought not to smile at her pluck. He wanted to talk to her, but dragons didn’t communicate as she did. No sooner had the thought gone through his mind than pain shot through him. Bones snapped, and muscles and ligaments tore. A bellow locked in his throat at the agony. It felt like it went on forever, and then it was just…gone.
He suddenly found himself no longer towering over the female. Lennox glanced down at himself to see that he looked like her. That wasn’t possible. He lifted his hands, expecting to see his long talons, but they were gone. As were his scales.
“Bloody hell,” she murmured, her voice soft with surprise.
He knew he was stunned. This had never happened before. He swallowed and worked his mouth as she continued eyeing him suspiciously. Lennox wanted to move, but he was still testing his new body. The last thing he wanted was to fall flat on his face. The female might just use those balls of magic on him.
Lennox flexed his fingers and squeezed his toes in the rocks that lined the shore. He rotated his shoulders before stilling as something landed against his cheek. He reached up to feel it. He tugged but discovered it was attached to his head.
“That’s your hair,” the female stated.
He looked at her black and silver locks and tried to see his. To his surprise, he could move it around enough to see that it was a golden hue.
“You understand me?”
Lennox’s gaze slid to her as he nodded. But he didn’t try for words. He touched his face. His long snout and sharp teeth were gone. Once more, hands drew his gaze. He rubbed his fingers along his thumb, captivated by the feeling. This was entirely different than what he experienced in his other form. There were thousands more sensations, each demanding his attention.

ABOUT THE BOOK: It starts with an unsolicited d!ck pic that led me to the @rgy where I met five glorious men for a night of my life. Don’t worry, this doesn’t result in an accidental pregnancy. It’s a whole lot weirder than that.

By the next afternoon, I found some odd marks on my body. They’re very obviously not bruises. It starts with a red line spiraling around my left ankle that kinda looks like a snake. And then a gray-blue star on my hip. By the time the fourth mark shows up, I realize that each one is where one of them men had held me while we… you know.

I’m starting to feel like a freak show as they continue to cover my body as visible reminders of my salacious night. Now, I’m doing the unthinkable – tracking down my one night stand (all six of them) to figure out what the f*ck is going on.

All I can say is I’m not prepared for the world I’ve been marked into. But at least the men are hot and hung.

This is a polyamorous story with content not suitable for those under 18 years of age due to graphic scenes and situations.

••••••

REVIEW:  Could you imagine that a d!ck pic sent to you by mistake, could result in a night of passion/tattoos and more ? than you should shake a stick at? No? Well that’s what happened too Lux…..

Lux is a photographer, she loves nothing more than capturing beauty in all its glory. So when a group of d!ck pics come her way, curiosity and appreciation for the male form has her conversing with total strangers (I do love the text parts of the book, did make me chuckle) and then an invitation to a party to meet up has Lux in a quandary, does she stay at home, or have a night to remember?

Let’s just say, there is a lot of spicy moments, and some may say maybe too much?! If it’s not your thing, then either skip over or don’t bother grabbing the book. It didn’t bother me, it became part of the story. In parts it did get a little monotonous, but it’s all part of this book.

I did enjoy the interactions between Lux and the men she was with when they weren’t all going at it ?

I also enjoyed trying to work out the dynamics within the “brotherhood”, don’t panic, they aren’t blood related, they just refer to themselves as brothers. And the tattoos I hear you ask, well, after her spending the night with them all, mysterious shapes begin to appear on Lux’s body! And she’s not happy, not happy at all! She goes in search of Sunny/Apo/Sham/Rage/Atar/Gedd and Doom to enquire what the hell the markings are about….

But they are nowhere to be found! And a search is in order for Lux to have her questions answered.

There are a few twists that I sort of saw coming. There were also a few twists I didn’t see until I got slapped with them. There are definitely questions left unanswered. There is also m/m in this book (it’s not all about Lux ?) I liked that Lux seemed more mature in age than usual FMC, I also liked her no nonsense attitude, her confidence and her brain (she didn’t become a doormat after being with the guys)

Sunny/Apo/Sham/Rage/Atar/Gedd and Doom are all great monsters/men, this is end of days (and as the author tells you in the front of the book, she created this world, her word is law) each has his own personality, i’d personally like to have seen a little more development. Apparently this was suppose to be a one off book, but I’ve seen that there is now a second book. ??‍♀️

I can see why we needed possibly a second book, as there was a few questions that needed answers, but to be honest I think the author could have left it at book one (my opinion)

Do they all have a happy ending? Well to find out you’ll have to read the book.

by Crea Reitan
Genre: adult, polyamorous, paranormal, romance
Release Date: May 4, 2023

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk / Amazon.au /

ABOUT THE BOOK:  Fight or f*ck. That’s how the Eschats live.

What started with unsolicited d!ck pics that led to an @rgy has resulted in the end of the world. While I’m happy in my new life with the seven Brothers of Eschat, living in their underground world of Manaalanian, there are questions left unanswered. Questions that require a lot of d!ck-in time to contemplate, make plans, and decide to put forth an effort to solve.
But we don’t actually find the person responsible for setting the end in motion. He finds us. And he needs our help to set the world right because now there’s something else interfering in his endeavor to rebuild civilization by unaliving everything that is left.

I said it before and I’ll say it again; at least the men in this weird world are hot and hung. There are worse ways to spend my days. Like running from things that are set on killing me while my men fight for their very existence.
This is a polyamorous story with content not intended for those under 18 years of age due to graphic scenes and situations.

•••••

REVIEW:Book two has us almost where book one left us. I’d recommend reading book one first, but that’s just me. (But this book will make more sense if you read book one)

And without giving too much away from book one….

Lux is still with her hot posse, they are discovering that “end of days” is still going to happen! And they are all linked to the end of days prophecy! They are still trying to correct the damage Kulki created! But there is also something else in the dark that’s trying to bring on the end of days….. and it’s harder to pin down….

Lux is still a strong character, but in parts she does become a little whiny! She also stops questioning things and lets her “guys” deal with issues! And I’ve also got issues with Sunny/Apo/Sham/Rage/Atar/Doom and Gedd, they’ve gone from wanting to save the world to almost “meh” ? whatever!!

Kulki has a few chapters to have his say in the book, and also a few chapters dedicated to “nothing” (this is a character that interests me immensely) who are these characters? well in order to find out, you’ll need to read the books ? #sorrynotsorry

Still plenty of smut and spice, still lots of m/m, m/f/m, in fact throw those two letters in any direction and there they are ? all still at it.

I did get the feeling that the author didn’t really want to write this book, don’t get me wrong, the descriptions are spot on, continuity is dead on. It just felt a little half hearted.

I love this authors work, I’ve read most of it, but I have to admit, this isn’t my favourite couple of books!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 18, 2022

Lachlan

I was supposed to be a brutal and ruthless ruler of my dragon shifter clan, but I’ve defied the odds to become a calm male who thinks before he acts. I rule my small town fairly, without the bloodshed. The only time I acted with the same selfishness of my parents was when I selected my mate. And for the last four years, I’ve worried I ruined her life. I want to do better, but I don’t know how, and if I don’t figure it out, she’ll be gone.

Indy

I know Lachlan didn’t grow up like me. He didn’t have a loving, supportive, and completely smothering family to dote on him. But when he announced he wanted me to be his, I was elated. I had high hopes. And then we just…existed together. A female dragon shifter is rarely short of pride, but if Lachlan doesn’t talk to me, I can’t picture a second chance for us. And when someone tries to kills me, I worry we won’t be able to try.

•••••

REVIEW: I’m loving this series and meeting more family members. We started off with the Silver Clan, which lead us to the Jade Clan and then the Garnet Clan, and also the Peridot Clan. (So I’m hoping another series of books will spring out from them) ?

Indy has had enough of being the leaders mate! She tired of being ignored and not being included in the running of the clan! It’s time to make changes …..

Lachlan is the leader of the Jade Clan, he’s been their leader since his parents died in a fire. Lachlan is hiding a secret, and he’s terrified someone will eventually find out!!

We get to meet Levi which will take us to meet a new Clan (although we met them briefly in this book, and it’s not another dragon Clan!)

You don’t need to read the previous book, it stands well enough in its own. But reading the previous book does give a little insight into Lachlan and his thoughts…..

Lachlan and Indy have been mated for a few years! Lachlan needed to mate for leadership reasons! Indy did as she was asked! Although she was both relieved (her former boyfriend was beginning to give off creep vibes!) and surprised (Lachlan could have had his pick of mates). But with a vast chasm between them how will they ever overcome it? Do they want too?

It has a little angst, passion and secrets. It also has a little danger for both the main characters. Lachlan finds it hard to express his feelings for his mate, he truly loves her, but I get the impression he’s never really told her! And Indy is full of self doubt when it comes to her mate! He’s never at home and he’s always with other women (her family and town like to tell get often!) Both characters needed their heads banged together. Both have feelings for one another, and both can’t express them…..

If you love a second chance romance with dragons and a bossy mate, I’d recommend this one in a heartbeat. It’s shortish, and with all of her books you want just a little more ? characters are great, settings are detailed enough for you to imagine yourself there.

••••

REVIEW: TAKEN BY THE DRAGON PRINCE is the fourth instalment in Kiersten Fay’s adult DRAGON LORDS erotic paranormal, fantasy, sci-fi series-a spin off from the author’s SHADOW QUEST series. This is twenty-nine year old, dragon Prince Khalstorm Belmont, and twenty-seven year old witch Celeste Songbird’s story line. TAKEN BY THE DRAGON PRINCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Celeste and Khalstorm) using present day and memories from the past, TAKEN BY THE DRAGON PRINCE follows the second chance relationship between twenty-nine year old, dragon Prince Khalstorm Belmont, and twenty-seven year old witch Celeste Songbird. The witches and dragons have been at war for hundreds of years but ten years earlier dragon Prince Khalstorm Belmont fell in love with witch Celeste Songbird. Prince Khalstorm was betrothed to another dragon shifter but hours before they were to be married, Celeste was accused of killing his mate. Found with the murder weapon in his hand, Khalstorm was imprisoned, along with the woman he once loved. Fast forward to present day wherein a ghostly apparition has been visiting his cell, the spectre the sister of the woman he once loved. Hoping to assistance in releasing the witch, Khalstorm volunteers to save Celeste, only to discover the truth is not always what appears to be. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Celeste and Khalstorm, and the potential fall-out as the witches and dragons continue to battle for power and control, placing our couple in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Khalstorm and Celeste is a second chance romance; a lovers to enemies to lovers relationship in which betrayal and discrimination are at the root of their conflict. Blaming one another for the death of Khalstorm’s bride to be, both would find themselves imprisoned without benefit of trial or truth. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Celeste’s sister Xanthia, and their mother Elora, as well as the return of Jessie and Orin (SEDUCED BY THE DRAGON LORD 2) ,and Dragon warrior Rayu. The requisite evil has many faces.

TAKE BY THE DRAGON PRINCE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, magic and mayhem, discrimination and love. The premise is intriguing and engaging; the romance is captivating; the characters are energetic and broken.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 22, 2022

Ronan

The next time my brother says “Hey, I’ve got an idea,” I need to run, not walk away. I might be from a dragon shifter ruling family, but I’m not demanding a female mate with me. Yet taking my time and winning her over is going nowhere. So far, I’ve punched my card as the older neighbor who’s way too nosy about the young female next door. Then I hear about what she’s got planned. And I’m faced with giving her what she needs and letting her walk away, even at the cost of the useless beating organ in my chest.

Brighton

Mate Ronan Jade, they said. It’ll be a good match, they said. The older shifter is a walking poster of smoldering, hardworking male. He swings a hammer all day and at night… Well, that thought dominates my mind more than I’d like. The problem is that he’s a great match. Superb. And I’m an inexperienced female trying to rule my clan. It’d be too easy to let him in. To let him take over. To allow him to dominate. So I try to find another mate instead. Only Ronan finds me first.

•••••

REVIEW: This is a spin off from the Silver Dragon Shifter Brothers Series, a three book series.

Brighton we’ve meet in the previous series, it’s not necessary to read that series, but you’ll get a little more background. (But this book does supply a few moments from Brighton’s life?)
She’s the youngest ever ruler of her clan, she’s also the first female to rule. But not everyone agreed with the decision and she’s has to fight to keep her leadership. (That’s how we met her, the dragons in her clan were turning rogue and injured a Silver clan member)

Ronan is brother to both Lachlan and Venus (Lachlan is the clan leader, Venus mated Penn from the Silver clan). We met him briefly in the previous series, we don’t know too much about him, but i got the impression he wasn’t too impressed with Brighton and her clan.
But after the Silver clan step in to help Brighton, and the Jade clan offer their support in rebuilding Brighton’s town.

It’s in a sorry state, neglected and falling apart, Ronan is there as both potential mate and contractor.

It’s not love at first sight, it’s not even a like! But when an alliance is needed to help Brighton keep her clan, Ronan is drafted in!

The fireworks between these two characters just light the pages up. They bicker and banter until a moment has them rethinking they could just make this arrangement work. But someone still wants Brighton’s leadership!

I love these stories, short with plenty of action, angst and storyline to make you wish they were longer.

Brighton although inexperienced and young, her determination to make her family proud is strong (she lost her parents and older sister in an accident, which we find out wasn’t an accident!)

So can Ronan and Brighton put their differences aside and build this clan back up? Can they find a truce and maybe go from there?

Description:
The Witcher goes fiercely feminist in this gripping paranormal romance from noted author Isabel Cooper.

Raised from childhood to be weapons against the darkness, Sentinels spend their lives fighting the storm-born monsters that prey upon humanity. They alone can stare down the Traitor God. Their hands will shape the world, and their swords will seal its fate.

Amris has been trapped in dreamless sleep since the final battle raged centuries ago. Now he is awake…and so, it seems, is the Traitor God. Determined to save the world from being swallowed by the oncoming storm, Amris and fierce Sentinel Darya must learn to trust each other as they fight their way through a ruined city swarming with monsters in a last desperate bid to get word back to their allies before it’s too late…

Review:

The Stormbringer by Isabel Cooper is the first book in her new Stormbringer series.  This is an epic fantasy adventure series filled with magic, sword fighting, epic battles, creatures and an evil god.  Sentinels, who start training as a young child, protect the world against a traitor god and his minions who threaten to destroy the world.

Darya, one of the best sentinels, and our heroine, accidently wakes up an infamous warrior, who was locked in statis for 100 years. Amris, our hero, is a General, who battled the Traitor God all those years ago, with both of them awakening, bringing chaos and destruction. Amris is a bit lost, but knows he needs to help defeat the evil Thyrad, who is now awake and creating monsters to destroy cities.  Amris also learns that his friend and lover all those years ago, is magically connected to Darya’s soulstone sword;  Gerant is a mage spirit that protects, uses spells to help Darya. Amris knows everything about Thyrad, who does the bidding of the Traitor god, is a sorcerer creating the enemy horrendous magical creatures that are almost impossible to kill.

What follows is a wild, nonstop action filled battles that has you on the edge of your seat the entire book.  Amris and Darya work closely together to use their experience and magical skills, along with Gerant, to bring together all the sentinels, mages, warriors in trying and stop the onslaught.  What I really liked was how women, were equally as strong and savvy as the men. Cooper has created some very good secondary characters who were part of the overall team effort.  I also like the slow build romance between Amris and Darya, with Gerant’s approval (he is dead, with his soul as part of the sword).

The Stormbringer was well written by Isabel Cooper, with great characters, in a very good fantasy adventure that was non stop action. I look forward to seeing where Cooper will take us next.
