ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date

Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch, refuses to marry after being betrayed by his betrothed’s father. Needing to distance himself from the Highlands, he accepts a commission at the Scottish border by the king, where he must squelch an English lord’s plans to lay siege. What he finds is the Scots’ enemy about to wed a most alluring English lass. What better way to torment his enemy than by defeating his army and stealing his beautiful bride?

Eva de Clare, youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck is about to be pledged in matrimony to a cruel lord who has blackmailed her family, when a terrifying Highlander interrupts the ceremony. The horror stories she’s heard about the warriors of the north must be true, but none seem to compare when she is literally plucked from where she stands and whisked across the Scottish border.

At first, Strath intends to toss the Sassenach lass into a dark cell and forget about her, but there is something about the way she defies him that he finds captivating, not to mention how very much he’d like to kiss her. Eva isn’t about to be made into a prisoner of war, and she’s definitely not going to be sent back to England to marry her enemy. Though at first the Highlander frightened her, she sees kindness beneath his hard exterior. Perhaps the key to her survival will be convincing this warrior to take her for himself. And perhaps Strath, just might have found the only woman who could warm his hardened heart.

REVIEW: The Highlander’s Stolen Bride is a wonderful historical romance.

The story begins with Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, Laird of Dornoch and Earl of Strathnavor, going on a mission for his king, Robert the Bruce. The mission has a couple of objectives. The first is to stop the raids and burning of Scottish villages by an English lord, and the second is to try to find out information as to whether the daughter of Lord Northwyck was dead as had been claimed.

Typical of the period, Eva de Clare, the heroine in this story, is the youngest daughter of the Earl of Northwyck and the last one remaining unmarried. She has been pledged in marriage to a horrible and cruel man, Lord Belfinch, by her weak and not so loving father.
That’s pretty much the set up for the start. I don’t do spoilers, I feel people should enjoy the story for themselves. What I can tell you is that I loved the characters, both the female and the male. The secondary characters are also well developed. I like the way Eliza Knight writes in the background and information a little at a time, so you begin to get the gist of their character as the story develops. She unfolds motives and the past brilliantly.

I found this story to be a wonderful read! Eva is what, I feel, was a typical female for the times. She has no say in who she marries, but untypically she also has the heart of a lion and will escape in whatever way she needs to. She’s brave and kind with many talents. I really liked her. The male lead is a dutiful son who loves his family and people and is proud to serve his king. He’s been hurt before and is cautious, but open enough to realize love when it happens. He’s strong and capable. He was so easy to fall for!

If you love the highlander style of stories and love good romance, do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this one. It’ll leave you quite warm and fulfilled!

What is the bastard up to?
Magnus “Strath” Sutherland, the Laird of Dornoch and Earl of Strathnavor, sat on his horse in the woods just beyond the perimeter of Northwyck Castle. He’d been sent south on a mission by his King, Robert the Bruce. One, to determine if the daughter of Lord Northwyck was dead as had been claimed, and also to stop a certain vile Sassenach lord from his continued raids at the border, who may or may not be holding her captive. That man was in the castle before him.
A plan to ambush Belfinch and his men on the road had been thwarted when the whoreson disappeared. Unfamiliar with the land this far past the English border, Strath and his men had found their quarry on the moors riding at a clipped pace toward this castle. This turnabout would work in their favor it seemed, since he could now take care of both of his king’s requests at once.
The keep was only about four stories high, if he had to guess, and the wall was about half that. There was a thin moat around the perimeter, and a village to the west. Smoke filtered out of a few chimneys in the village, but it was only late afternoon, so most of the peasants would likely be in the fields working. Smoke came from several chimneys in the castle keep.
From the intelligence Strath had been able to gather, this was the home of another man, the Earl of Northwyck. None of Belfinch’s men had waited outside, which meant the Earl of Northwyck was used to the men coming here, or he’d been forced. But Strath was betting on him being an ally. If that were the case, which seemed likely, it would behoove him and his men to remove all the threats.
This was war, after all. And if he let them go, they’d only continue the border raids he’d been sent to stop. Strath wasn’t about to disappoint his king. As to why the king cared about a lass, that was a question he’d have to leave unanswered, for his liege had not offered the information.
“What did ye find?” he asked when Tomaidh, his finest scout and best mate, returned.
“Two entrances that I could make out. The main gate has a wide drawbridge over the moat, still lowered from when Belfinch’s men went inside, and a postern gate that looks to be accessible only by a narrow drawbridge, but it was not lowered. The walls are guarded by a dozen men, more concentrated on the front gate with only a few at the postern. And I think one spotted me.”
“Damn.” Strath, as any warlord about to lay siege, much preferred the element of surprise.
“I was careful, but when I mounted my horse by the woods, I think my sword hilt caught the sun just when there was a break in the clouds. I heard a horn blown in the distance, which I’m guessing was the warning. I didn’t come straight here. I rode in the opposite direction and circled back through the woods in case they sent anyone out to follow me.”
“Ye did good.”
“I’m sorry, laird.”
“Dinna fash over it, Tomaidh. We’ll wait then. If they spotted ye, they’ll likely be preparing for an unwanted guest. With enough time, they will think spotting ye was nothing more than someone riding through. They will let their guard down.” Probably not all the way, but enough so he could still attack with success.
And he would succeed.

REVIEW: 5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

OOOHHHH!!! Pass me some more Eliza please and thank you! This was AWESOME!

I am going to start this review off with a small note that I came across before I started this book. This series is collaborated by Eliza Knight and Kathryn LeVeque. Kathryn is my all time fave author of medieval romance so when I found this out I made sure that I got the other two books as well. I have yet to read them, and as detailed in the description above, you do not need to read them in order to enjoy this book. I will agree. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything at all. However, I loved the story so much, I am intrigued and curious as to how these two authors collaborated as if memory serves, their writing style is a little different. I’ll let you know maybe in the future. On with the review.

The Sea Devil by Eliza Knight is the third book in the “Pirates of the Britannia: Lords of the Sea” series. If you love highlanders and pirates with your historical romance then this is an must grab for you. This is a classic take of revenge with a side of mistaken identity, but turns out to be the best mistake one could of taken in life.

Thor MacLeod is a highlander and a pirate. A pirate who is always seeking revenge on a man who killed his mother. Thor is hard lived, determined, stubborn and very ready to right this wrong and he will do it at any cost. This cost comes in the form of his enemies daughter. If he can find his enemies daughter, he will kill her, and then the slate will be wiped clean and he can carry on his life as he was meant to. BUT, we all know two wrongs do not make a right, and certainly not when he learns that the one he finds is not in fact the one he seeks .. unless one is seeking passion and love.

Alesia Baird is the daughter of a whore and a thief. She is cunning and smart and will do what she must in order to survive a life she has had to live alone. She is also very stubborn and knows that she is facing certain hanging if she can’t think her way out of the mess she has found herself in. Opportunity comes knocking, and before she knows it, Alesia is pretending to be the daughter of some pirate in hopes of running away from a certain death. What she doesn’t realize is that she is jumping from one death right into another, unless she can once again think herself out of this dilemma. It’s too bad the man that has taken her makes her feel more alive than she has ever felt in her entire life. It’s too bad he is so intent on killing her …..

OYE! These two are smoking hot together. This is a quicker book and I don’t reveal juicy tidbits of story, but believe me, the tidbits are in fact juicy. Something about pirates and the edge of death and passion and .. and .. OYE! Yah you know what I mean! FANS SELF! The tension is built quick, but Eliza layers many complicated moral dilemmas of the pirate code, which makes this love and passion almost “forbidden” Well what does one want more is something is forbidden .. it usually comes in the form of indulging, personal reasoning and/or .. just plain ole not thinking! LOL

These two are an intense couple, and the backdrop of pirates, enemies and swords make the pages flip effortlessly. If you have a little bit of bodice ripper fan reader inside you (I am not talking bodice ripper psycho ..lol), then this will get your blood pumping for sure. Like I said earlier I am eager to read Kathryn’s take on these brutish pirates, because Eliza certainly did them justice.

Looking forward to the next book and certainly looking forward to the first two. I hope you enjoy as much as I did!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

“I’m a pirate, lass. What am I supposed to think when I come into my room and a lass has made herself at home, going so far as to take off her boots?”
She pushed against him more, and he did let go slightly, enough that she thought she might be able to draw a better breath, but it didn’t appear that his hold was what kept her from breathing. Struggling to speak without choking, she said, “I came here because I heard ye were looking for the bastard of Santiago Fernandez.”
“And ye claim to be that unfortunate offspring?”
She nodded solemnly. “I do.”
“Prove it,” he growled.
“How?” She wriggled against him. “Put me down first.”
“Say something to me in Spanish.”
He settled her in front of him, but not far enough away that she couldn’t still feel the heat of his body sinking into hers. Thinking quickly on her feet, Alesia frowned up at him. “My mother was Scots, and my father, the legendary Spanish pirate, abandoned me the moment he planted his seed, ye buffoon. Where would I have learned his language?”
“Point taken.” He studied her face, eyes narrowed. “Ye do have the look of him. In a feminine sort of way. Save for that hair. Tempestuous hair.”
Her mouth fell open at the insult. She moved to stomp on his foot but quickly found herself lifted off her feet, arms pinned to her sides by the steely strength of his own.
Fine, he wanted to play dirty. She’d already showed him once she knew how to take down a man. Alesia moved to kick him where she’d had the pleasure of socking him before, but Captain Thor clamped her legs between his thighs of steel.
“Uh-uh, princess,” he mocked.
Though she hated to head-butt anyone for the headache it always gave her, that was her next move. Alesia was fairly certain at this point she wasn’t going to be walking away with the silver, which meant she could at least walk away with her life—and figure out another way to escape the wharf.
Before she had the chance to make good on her decision to crack her head against his, she found herself flattened to the wood-planked floor, and his massive body on top of hers. Every hard plane pressed to the soft curves of her own. She sucked in a ragged breath, prepared to shout at him to leave off, but she found her throat too tight to speak.
“I’d have expected more from Santiago’s daughter, wee sprite.” His finger trailed over her cheek and along her jawline.
Alesia bared her teeth, trying to wriggle free but only managing to feel his body pressed harder to hers. “And I would have expected more from a pirate Captain.”
“Touché.” His grin was inviting. Unnerving. Disarming.
“Get off me,” she growled, trying keep her mind in the right place—the angry place. That was survival. To succumb to his disarmament was to lose.
His gaze shifted to her lips. “Not without a kiss.”
Alesia snorted and shoved at his unmoving shoulders. “I’d not kiss ye if ye were the last man on earth.”
“What if I were the second to last?” he teased.
She let out an exasperated groan. “Not then, either, ye ogre.”
He clucked his tongue. “Shame.”
“Why’s that?”
“Because, lass, if sparring with ye is this fun, kissing would be even better.”

They should be enemies… But passion and love know no bounds.

Returning from France to his family’s manor in England, Samuel de Mowbray discovers that his two younger sisters have been stolen away to the Highlands by the Sutherland brothers. Determined to save his sisters from the hands of vicious warriors, he convinces the king to send him north on a mission. Unfortunately, it appears the only way to escape their clutches is by trusting in the very thing she mistrusts the most—an Englishman. Minute by minute, the man who should be her enemy breaks down her defenses. There is something different about him and she can’t help but be captivated by Samuel, and his steamy kisses.

REVIEW: THE HIGHLANDER’S CHARM is an historical, Highlander romance novella focusing on Samuel De Mowbray and Catriona Buchanan. For fans of Eliza Knight’s STOLEN BRIDES Highlander series, Samuel is the brother of Arbella and Aliah Mowbray first introduced in The Highlander’s Reward (book 1) and The Highlander’s Conquest (book 2).

The storyline follows Catriona and Samuel’s escape from Castle Buchanan. A journey across country finds Catriona and Samuel falling in love but not before Samuel’s life is threatened and he nearly dies.

The reader is reintroduced to Arbella and Aliah, as well as their husbands and we get a little more information about their history and story. This novella can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. The epilogue fast forwards the series six months where Samuel will be offered a liaison position between Scotland and England.

Anything except marrying a man her father chooses for her. When her deerhound, Corrie, insists on following Gavan, Marsali decides that’s the excuse she needs to have the adventure she craves. She’ll go where he goes, whether or not he is the man promised by her spell.

Gavan has already seen much of the world denied to Marsali. He’s ready to settle down. She is eager to spread her wings. Can they find what they need with each other?

REVIEW: HEART OF STONE is a prequel novella to Willa Blair’s Highland Talents historical, Highland romance series. This is Gavan MacNabb and Marsali Murray’s storyline. Some of the series characters are introduced and fans of the Highland Talents will recognize some of the names.

Marsali is a woman who knows her prospects for a husband are slim at the family Keep, so she tempts fate and magic-enter Gavan MacNabb-the man with whom she would start her new adventure but a man betrothed to someone else. While Marsali looks to the future, her father will see that her future is with someone else.

HEART OF STONE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. No prior knowledge of the series is necessary for your enjoyment. The premise looks at family life and duty when your are neither the heir nor ‘the spare.’ Sometimes you have to create a new path from which to carve your own future.

Kilts and Kisses by Victoria Roberts

Victoria Roberts: http://victoriarobertsauthor.com/

Since the deaths of her parents, Ceana Gunn has lived in the shadow of her uncle and his family. She wants nothing more than to see her clan the way it was when her father was still laird. But her uncle has other ideas. Ceana soon discovers that the only refuge to be found is in the last place she expects—the arms of her enemy.

Luthais MacKay wants to be left alone. His only interest is training his prized hawks. He certainly doesn’t have time to listen to the petty squabbling of his clan when his father travels to Edinburgh and leaves him in charge. But when Luthais discovers a mysterious woman on his lands, he’s determined to unravel her secrets…one layer at a time.

REVIEW: KILTS AND KISSES is the second installment and first novella in Victoria Roberts’s historical, romance Highland Spies series. This is Ceana Gunn and Luthais MacKay’s storyline.

Victoria Roberts pulls the reader into a tale of forbidden love between enemy clans. While Ceana believes the magic of the standing stones has brought Luthais MacKay into her life, it is the thawing heart of her cousin Sorcha that seals the deal for our Highland couple.

KILTS AND KISSES is a story of insta-love between Luthais and Ceana. As Ceana longs for a husband and lover, she is doomed to watch from the sidelines as her aunt and uncle bring any number of suitors for her younger cousin. What ensues is a case of mistaken identity and apologetic amends from a woman who has uncovered a lie.

KILTS AND KISSES can be read as a stand alone but ends on a bit of a cliff hanger. I am not sure when and if the story is to be continued, but it does leave the reader wanting more.
