The ruse works, and when I’m grabbed off the street by the Sicilian mafia, I’m in for a world of pain.

Augusto Vitale, a ruthless and unforgiving capo, wants revenge for what the Yakuza did to his younger brother, and I’m the one paying in blood. That’s until Augusto realizes I’m a woman and I’m set free.

I think it’s the last I’ll ever see of him, but then my father comes up with a plan that will ensure I live the rest of my life in hell.

REVIEW: Craving Revenge is book 6 in The Kings of Mafia series by Michelle Heard.

Yuki Tanaka is a 22 year old Yakuza Princess living in Japan. But she can’t be herself. Ever since her brother Ryo was hidden away when she was eleven, she has been pretending to be him. Not by her choice, her father’s-To protect her brother until he is ready to take over the Yakuza – She pretended to be him. Her father making her take Botox shots to the face to make her look more masculine. She is out at a popular Japan nightclub, Molecule, one night and she sees the most beautiful woman with her new husband.

Yuki can’t help but stare. She has been pretending to be her brother for years and the softness and beauty of this woman is overwhelming. She can’t seem to look away. What that sets off is a myriad of a battle between the Yakuza and Cosa Nostra.
The woman she was staring at is Gianna Vitale – the newly married wife of Riccardo Vitale. The youngest brother of the head of the Cosa Nostra. The capo of the Cosa Nostra – Augusto Vitale.

When Yuki can’t look away, Gianna’s husband Riccardo takes offense and tells Yuki to stop looking at his wife. Yuki’s over zealous body guard oversteps and in the end Riccardo is shot and taken away to the hospital. Augusto wants revenge for what has happened to his brother in Japan. When they find who they believe to be Ryo the beat him within an inch of his life.
That is until they realize that the person pretending to be Ryo is actually his sister Yuki.

Trying to calm the violence and deaths between the Yakuza and the Cosa Nostra – Yuki’s father arranges a marriage with none other than the man that beat her almost to death – Augusto Vitale.

Will Augusto ever be able to get Yuki to forgive him for what he has done. Will Yuki ever feel safe with the man she was arranged to marry? What transpires is a beautiful building of a relationship between Yuki and Augusto.

But once Augusto finds out about the truth of how his new wife was treated up until he married her – he has but one thought. He is Craving Revenge.

This was probably one of my favorite Mafia stories by Michelle Heard. The build up between Augusto and Yuki was wonderful. While Augusto had one thought – to make his wife feel safe and secure after he mistook her for a man and beat her. Yuki is young and vulnerable – and scared – oh so scared of the life she didn’t ask for. Her one wish is to find her brother. She has no concept of living a good life – she has never experienced that. But maybe she will one day. Maybe she will….

Highly recommend – can be read as a stand alone but every single book in this series is worth a read.

Please be mindful of the trigger warnings at the front of the book.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 14, 2025

I rebuilt my grandmother’s bakery from the ground up. Poured everything I had into making it thrive again—flour, sweat, and a whole lot of tears.

Then she died. And her will blindsided me.

If I’m not married by the time probate closes, I lose the bakery to my mother—the last person who should ever be trusted with it.

Enter Bodie Gibson.
Childhood friend turned enemy. The boy who used to bring me tea and peanut butter sandwiches…
The cop who put my little brother behind bars.

He offers me a way out: a fake marriage that keeps the bakery in my hands and our past buried where it belongs.

It’s just paperwork. A few public appearances. Nothing real.
Except he still looks at me like he sees the girl I used to be.
And when he kisses me it doesn’t feel fake at all.

In a town built on second chances, sometimes the only way forward is to rewrite the ending.

REVIEW: Hero, Unexpected is book two in the Gibson Hollow book series by Kait Nolan.

This book opens up with Emmaline Maddox re-opening up her grandmother’s bakery after a devastating flood. Her grandmother has been missing since said flood. When in a twist of fate her grandmother is found deceased. Not only does Emmaline have to deal with losing her grandmother, but she also has to deal with what came out of her grandmother’s will.

Her grandmother left Emmaline the bakery with the stipulation that she needs to be married before the deal goes into probate. With no idea how she is going to accomplish finding a boyfriend and getting married, Emmaline gets an offer she can’t refuse. Her former best friend turned enemy Bodie Gibson has offered to marry her to help his friend save the bakery that is rightfully hers.

Can she forgive her former best friend for sending her younger brother to jail? Can they move forward and help her keep the bakery out of her dreaded mother and aunts hands? Can they convince the entire town they are in a relationship and about to get married in a short period of time, when both of their families hate each other?

This book was a wonderful read. The relationship between Emmaline and Bodie was amazing to watch unfold.

Coupled with twists and turns and a beautiful backdrop of a story, this may be better than the first book in this series.

I highly recommend.

I’ve worked the night shift at the local gas station for years, and nothing exciting ever happens. That is, until a tall dark stranger comes in to buy a coffee. I thought he was just passing through town, but then he starts coming in every night.

Whenever our eyes meet, I try to muster the courage to say something to him, but I never can and only end up blushing my butt off. I begin to daydream about the man who has an air of mystery and danger, and it lessens the loneliness I feel. The night I finally manage to say ‘hi’ to him, the gas station is robbed, and my tall dark stranger saves my life before disappearing. A few days later, I’m offered a job as a housekeeper for a wealthy recluse. It pays more money than I’ve ever hoped to make in my lifetime, so I accept. I miss my handsome stranger, though.

That is, until I hear a commotion one night and find him bleeding in the kitchen. It turns out everything is not as it seems, and like a helpless fly, I’m stuck in the web he’s spun around me.

REVIEW: The Devil by Michelle Heard is book five in The Mafia Empire series.

This book dives right in. Enzo Oliveira is a 37 year old assassin and the leader of a criminal organization in Portugal. He is in the United States to deal with an MC Clud who has taken issue with him opening part of his business in their town. He stops in the middle of nowhere for a cup of coffee at a gas station and that is when he meets Jenna Doston.

Jenna is 26 years old and keeps to herself completely. After suffering horrific trauma she has turned in on herself and doesn’t talk anymore. She makes due working at the gas station because its mostly regulars. That is until a definite stranger in town walks in. Jenna hides beneath her bangs and doesn’t eant to make eye contact. But she can’t help it. That’s when Enzo notices her blue and green eyes. He is taken by her appearance and can sense pretty quickly that she is suffering from some kind of trauma.

He didn’t come to town to find a woman. He has no time for that in his life. He came to take care of the MC Club and leave. But he slowly begins to find himself going to that gas station each night and then watching her from a distance making sure she is safe. He can’t help it. He has never felt this way before about anyone let alone a woman. Everything was going good until one evening Enzo arrives at the gas station while a robbery is taking place. He quickly takes care of each man – to protect his Jenna. He has to find away to break thru her walls and let him in.

How will he do it? Will she still like him once she finds out what he is and what he does?

This book started off quickly and didn’t slow down! I wanted nothing more than Jenna to just fall for Enzo but she is dealing with a great deal of her own trauma. Can Enzo convince Jenna how much he cares about her and will Jenna ever let him in?
I highly recommend this entire series. This book can be read as a standalone but why do that! Highly recommend!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 9, 2025

The past two years have taken their toll on Arista Kelly. Once an eternal optimist, now she has faced the darkness and must recalibrate what true happiness means for her. Meanwhile, Shane, her ex-boyfriend, is pulling all the right moves to help keep her sane from her heightening paranoia. But it doesn’t help that Iris, her Great Aunt Bethie’s friend, has disappeared.

Still, one additional trial remains. While searching for Iris, Bethie and Arista stumble upon a grand revelation in the eccentric woman’s home. With the discovery, they realize their run of chaos and loss of kin may have roots in a curse that dates back to the 1940s—the time when their family patriarch first built Arista’s cottage in the redwoods and crafted his insightful Ouija table.

This pursuit will not follow their accustomed recipe of adrenalized action, but the high stakes remain. Will the mysterious slow burn of unfolding events finally level Arista’s entire world or be fully extinguished, once and for all?

••••••

REVIEW: Hummingbird Moonrise is book three in the Murder, Tea and Crystals Trilogy.

This book starts off with a prologue of significance. 1940’s California – Barry Kelly, the family patriarch that first built Arista’s cottage in the redwoods and hand crafted her Oujia table, commits a heinous act on a neighbor who is killing his dogs. Threatening his livelihood. That neighbors widow puts a curse on Barry when he is found not guilty of murder. And by her soul and blood she ensured that the Kelly bloodline was wiped from the earth by the fifth generation.

Current day Arista Kelly is recovering from an emotional upheaval and just trying to keep her head above water. Coming into her own powers and a stone tablet that may seal her families fate.

What transpires is a magickal mystery journey into curses, family secrets, witchcraft and wonder.

Will Arista and Shane’s relationship finally develop into more? Will they be able to face whats coming and move on with their lives?

This was an amazing ending to this trilogy! I highly recommend all three books.

A wonderful October read to go along with all things spooky!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 22, 2025

I never meant to be anyone’s heroine.

Not when I became the acting mayor of my hometown after the flood. Not when I kept my law practice afloat out of a booth in my grandmother’s diner. And definitely not when my secret romantasy novels went viral.

Nobody in Gibson Hollow knows I’m the author behind the pen name. And nobody was supposed to kiss me at that book convention—least of all my brother’s best friend, cosplaying the hero he doesn’t know I modeled after him.

Now Ramsey Shaw is back in town. Volunteering. Smiling at me like I’m not on the verge of shattering. Like he remembers the kiss. Like he sees the truth.

I’ve spent my whole life being strong. Quiet. In control. But for the first time, I don’t want to be any of those things.
I just want to be his.

In a town held together by hope and heart, it’s the people who show up that make it shine.

REVIEW: Hero Ever After is book one in The Gibson Hollow series by Kait Nolan.

This is a heartwarming, emotional, clever, second chance romance.

Gibson Hollow is trying to recover from a devastating flood that has catastrophic consequences to the town. Alia Gibson is a lawyer working out of her grandmother’s diner. Alia’s father, the town mayor, was hurt in an accident during the rebuilding of the town. During this time, Alia steps up to help in her father’s absence. She is also a secret romance writer. If that wasnt enough her best friend signed her up to be part of a panel at a fantasy, romance convention. Alia is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.
Ramsey Shaw,- famous football player has come to Gibson Hollow in the off season to help with the devastation. Ramsey has been in love with his best friend, Brodie’s twin sister, Alia. When he sees that Alia is carrying the burdens of the town on her shoulders, he steps up and steps in to help her any way her can.

What ensues is a heartwarming romantic story that will consume your very being. I absolutely loved this first book of the series and am highly excited for book two.

Highly recommend!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 30, 2025

I walked out of my home and away from my loving sister to protect her. Either I left with him, the man who’s watched me from the shadows for months, or he would kill Grace.

It’s been nine months of living in pure agony and hell.
Nine months since I last saw Grace.
Nine months of him controlling every aspect of my life.

My mind has shattered, and I’m not sure I’ll ever escape him.

Until I do.
The only problem? Not even minutes after running for my life, I’m captured again by another man. This one is charming with his hot smiles and promises of safety, and he rules over his kingdom like a beloved god.

Is the brutality I see in his eyes just my imagination? Do I dare trust that he won’t hurt me?
I know what he wants.
Me.

I’m just not sure there’s anything left of me to give to him.

REVIEW:Death by Michelle Heard is book three in the Mafia Empire series. The story I have been waiting for, Santiago Castro. Santiago’s family was massacred and ever since that day he has made it his mission to save children and women from trafficking and abuse. He takes them in and makes sure they are taken care of and healed before returning to their lives.

Thats how he comes to have Ciara in his life. She was held and tortured against her will for 9 months until she escapes!
He helps Ciara return to the woman she once was. But that isnt without pain, loss and suffering! But he isnt going anywhere, she is his! I love the use of the tarot cards in this book and the fortune telling.

This book is a slow burn for those wanting the spice and deliciousness that Michelle Heard is known for! But also because Ciara is healing for the better part of this book!

You can read this book as a standalone alone but no need to – I suggest you ready the whole series!

Definitely worth it!
