REVIEW: The last and final book in the Content Advisory series is here with He’s a Mean One. Book eight in the series features Jasper and Calliope. As always I recommend reading a series in order to get the most out of it, but for the Content Advisory series each book can be read as a standalone in the interconnected series.

Jasper AKA “Hush” is a member of the Truth Tellers MC and meets Calliope at the wrong time in his life. She is years younger than he is, and still suffering from the trauma she experienced, but Jasper knows what he wants and is ready to play the long game. As time goes on, Jasper becomes a norm in Calli’s life and the two slowly build what I like to think of as a love-hate relationship. More love than hate for sure. These two have been put through the ringer, Callie and her upbringing, and Jasper with the fire and the scars that it left him with. Together they work in a way that feeds the parts of them that are missing. Two people that couldn’t be more different, like oil and water, but love each other so fiercely.

What a fast paced, spicy romance. For something so quick, He’s so mean is filled with giggly moments, spicy sexy time, and shared times of love with each other and family. One of the best things this author highlights is that meaningful and lasting bonds of love and family aren’t always with the ones you’re born into but the ones that you meet and choose to make part of your life.

The world building follows several interconnected paths as the MC go in search of those unable to protect themselves but the closer to uncovering the people involved, Gunnar and Ingrid find themselves targets, fighting for their lives.

The relationship between Ingrid and Gunnar is a best friends to lovers but Ingrid battles between head and heart, believing she is unworthy of her own happily ever after. Reinforced by those she once thought of as friends. Having been thrown to side too many times, Ingrid continues to have issues of trust, including trust in the man who promised forever. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Ingrid’s parents VP Fenrir and Charm , and Gunnar’s parents Vail and Vanir. The requisite evil has many faces.

MORBID is a story of betrayal and vengeance, dysfunctional and critical friendships, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The characters driven premise is dramatic, dark and edgy; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are struggling, healing , determined and desperate.

REVIEW: BULLET is the fifth instalment in Cala Riley’s contemporary adult LOTUS MC erotic, romance series. This is nineteen year old club princess Harlee Swift, and Bullet aka Jacob’s story line. BULLET can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bullet and Harlee) following two time lines, BULLET focuses on the forbidden relationship between Harlee and Bullett. Approximately two years earlier, Harlee lost her mother in a motor vehicle accident, and her father Honk, who spiralled after the death of his wife. Fast forward to present day, Harlee is about to graduate high school, and is determined to leave as soon as possible but Bullet has been Harlee’s guardian and protector in the wake of her father’s spiral, and our heroine is struggling with unrequited love. The Lotus MC is about to be pulled into a war not of their making, a man running for mayor is taking aim at everyone involved.

The world building follows several intersecting pathways including Honks downfall and recovery; the mayoral candidate targeting of the Lotus MC, as well as Harlee and Bullet dancing around one another, a dance with the potential for both to get burned.

The relationship between Bullet and Harlee is one of the forbidden. Harlee is a club princess, off limits as per her father’s decrees but Harlee has been in loved with our story line heroine for close to three years, and Bullet is struggling to keep their relationship platonic in the face of the sexual attraction and magnetic pull. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including many of whom we met in the previous instalments: Reaper and Natalie, Wrath, Colt, Midnight, Trigger, Tonk, as well as William Dansworth, and his daughter Adalyn.

BULLET is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The characters driven premise is edgy and dramatic; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined, energetic and desperate.

REVIEW: Crea Reitan’s Malin, is an emotionally charged story that takes us to the dark corners of trauma and recovery. ❤️‍🩹

The story follows Malin, who has spent the last ten years escaping the demons of his past after being rescued from a megachurch cult. This sad story sets the stage for a gripping tale that dives deep into the struggles faced by this survivor of abuse.

He was raised by two of the Van Doren triplets after rescuing him from the cult he was held prisoner in. It’s not necessary to read that book, as most of the information is given to you in this one, but it does give you insight into the twins (taboo) relationship and their love for Malin (they treat him as a son.)

From the very first page, the author drags us into Malin’s world. His haunting memories of the cult leader and the dark nature of psychological abuse are so sad. I liked how the author uses the cult leader’s voice as a character, for me it just amplifies the horror of unresolved trauma, creating a tension throughout the story. I had tissues ready 🤧

Malin’s journey of healing is written with raw honesty. His struggle to reclaim his identity while dealing with the shadow of his abuser is heartbreaking. Malin has to be one of my favourite characters, he’s, written with flaws and strengths that made him feel real. I found myself rooting for him as he confronts his fears and seeks freedom from his tormentor’s influence.

Gracen adds a refreshing dynamic to the story. His quirky approach, symbolized by the phone books he floods into Malin’s office, serves as an unexpected lifeline for him. I did chuckle when I first read that moment.

Gracen’s character brings warmth and humor to the story, easing the heavy themes with moments of levity. The chemistry between Malin and Gracen develops gradually, and I’m glad it did, I don’t think it would have suited the story if it had been and instalove moment.

The romance blossoms amidst the trauma, showing us how love can be both a sanctuary and a catalyst for healing.

The relationship between Malin and Gracen is not just about attraction, but about understanding and support, making it one of my favourite reads of the author.

Malin (Van Doren)” is a must read. But be prepared to cry 😢

She has a habit of creating secondary, and often time tertiary, characters that take over her stories. All of her RH relationships end up being heavily polyamorous – meaning it’s not just all the men for one woman. There’s also some M/M action going on. When she can’t fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center – and utterly swoon-worthy! Don’t ask her how many book boyfriends she has…

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don’t even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping.
