This is Cole August and Katrina Laron’s storyline-two battered souls whose earlier lives couldn’t have been more dissimilar yet the same.

My fingers wrap his wrist. “I know you want to protect me, and I love you for that more than you know.”
“Yet too easily, you found a reason to shut me out tonight. Trust isn’t a fair-weather friend. It’s about a willingness to be vulnerable and exposed.”
“And I am willing to do that. That’s why I’m here now.”
He searches my face, and I don’t know what he looks for, what he needs, or what he finds. He releases me abruptly. “Hold out your hands and lace your fingers together.”
Heat rushes through me with the certainty that I’m about to fully understand the painting he’s created of me. This is him sending me a message. He’s not holding back. My confession, as incomplete as it is, has changed nothing. I offer him my arms, aware as I haven’t been in the past few minutes of my naked body, my breasts pressed together.
Chris reaches into his back pocket and produces a roll of art tape, using it to wrap my wrists. Task complete, he bends my elbows and presses my wrists to my chest, his fingers covering the bindings. He has become dark Chris, the dominant Master who never shows emotion; the Chris who arouses me in ways I would never believe a man could.
“Sit down,” he orders, and the way he manages such force with what is no more than a whisper stirs heat low in my body.

Chris tapes my ankles and then throws the roll over his shoulder. His hands come down on my knees and the touch sweeps over me, awakening nerve endings in the most intimate and unforgiving of places. I feel this man everywhere, I want him everywhere. But as if he knows what I feel, and he means to deny me, he withdraws. I shiver with a sudden cold certain to linger. He will torment me, make me wait for him. Make me beg.
He stands up, towering over me, and I stare up at him, trying to read him, the anticipation of what comes next tingling through me. And it’s supposed to. I see that in his eyes, and I am reminded of his words when I’d first seen the painting. It’s about trust. The kind of trust I want from you and have no right to ask for. He’s going to push me. He’s going to take me somewhere uncomfortable. Somewhere I might not want to go, but I will. With Chris, I will.

The first three books in Nina Lane’s SPIRAL OF BLISS series is one of the most romantic series that I have had the opportunity to read- It is seductive, sensual and arousing. Dean and Liv’s relationship will break your heart with its’ intensely personal and emotional look at two people whose love for one another is both beautiful and alluring. Archer’s storyline is a little more aggressive; the characters are a little more abrasive. Where Nina’s first three books in the series were sensual and arousing, Break the Sky is erotic and intense. Archer is not his brother; he is rougher around the edges with life experiences that have hardened his heart to family and to the future. Archer isn’t willing to surrender or turn over control to anyone until Kelsey March shows him what it is to be truly loved.

The storyline line ends with a bit of a cliffhanger-one that will evoke a tear or two or ten. I reread the passage several times and each time I cried harder than the last.

Donya Lynne’s foray into the world of contemporary erotic romance is provocative, emotional and heartbreaking. There is startling truth and a staggering fall-out for two people who have fallen in love but for one the head doesn’t know what the heart has done. GOOD KARMA looks at two people whose relationship is built upon a temporary framework-one that will come crashing down when one man is afraid to take a chance.

REVIEW: HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR is the sixth instalment in Lorelei James’s adult, contemporary Blacktop Cowboy erotic romance series focusing on a group of friends and family from Wyoming. This is country music superstar Devin McClain and former soldier now bodyguard Liberty Masterson’s storyline. Although this is the sixth book in the series it can be read as a stand alone without any problems. A few of the previous storyline characters make a cameo appearance but their history is not necessary to the enjoyment of the story.

The focus of the story are the threats against musician Devin McClain. Following the near fatal beating of his tour bus driver, Devin’s production team hire a bodyguard who must stick by Devin 24/7. What Devin doesn’t expect is hard nosed, former soldier Liberty Masterson –his home town friend’s sister in law and a woman in whom he has no sexual interest. Liberty is a take no prisoners kind of bodyguard. She has been hired to guard and protect Devin McClain but life on the road is difficult when groupies, wanna-bes and fans surround Devin at every opportunity.

As the storyline develops, so too does the relationship between Devin and Liberty. When Liberty is required to pose as Devin’s new personal assistant, it doesn’t take long before our couple develop feelings for one another. The sex scenes are hot, sensual and erotic. Nothing is off limits and Devin likes to spice up their sex life at every opportunity.

The secondary characters include the members of the band, as well as the roadies, tour bus operators and some fans. We get up close and personal with Liberty’s extended family; the band; and anyone who has anything to do with the security team assigned to protect the country star.

Lorelei James takes the reader behind the scenes and onto the tour bus of the rich and famous of country music. The world building connects opening acts with the main attraction; friendships develop and relationships heal. The storyline energy builds throughout the novel where there are intense moments of anger, betrayal, heartbreak and love. HILLBILLY ROCKSTAR is a passionate look at two people from different worlds who find one another at a dangerous time in both of their lives.

REVIEW: FIANCEE FOR HIRE is the second instalment in Tawna Fenske’s adult contemporary Front and Center erotic romance series. This is former marine MacArthur (Mac) Patton and veterinarian Kelli Landers’s storyline. Mac and Kelli were first introduced in the first instalment ‘Marine for Hire’-Mac is Sheri’s brother and Kelli is Sheri’s best friend. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty.

The focus of the storyline is Mac’s need for a ‘fake fiancee’. Under cover, working on an illegal arms deal, Mac let it be known to his contacts in Mexico that he was newly engaged. Needing someone to portray his fake fiancée, Mac looks to his sister’s best friend Kelli. Little does Mac realize but Kelli has had a crush on Mac since she was a young girl.

The relationship between Mac and Kelli is one born of necessity that turns into something more. Both Mac and Kelli are afraid of commitment; afraid of losing someone they love; and afraid to allow anyone close enough to inflict heartbreak and pain. Mac barely remembers Kelli as his sister’s best friend and discovering there is more to Kelli than a pony-tailed little girl, leaves Mac reeling with emotions he cannot explain. Playing along with the impending nuptials, Kelli and Mac find themselves thrown into dangerous situations where Mac nearly loses Kelli on numerous occasions. Someone is out to destroy Mac’s plans using Kelli as a pawn in an arms deal that goes terribly wrong.

Tawna Fenske pulls the reader into a story of forbidden love between two people who go into the fake relationship knowing that nothing will ever come of it in the end. But like everything in life, nothing is ever a given when Kelli and Mac open their eyes and hearts to the possibility of a happily ever after.

FIANCEE FOR HIRE is a fast paced, erotic and intimate look at a relationship built upon a lie. The secondary characters include Mac’s mother Stella and brother Grant, as well as the armed players in a game of terrorism and weapons deals. Mac’s sister Sheri makes an appearance as the go-to woman for her best friend when things begin to heat up between Kelli and Mac.
