REVIEW:RECKLESS : Sins of the Father is the fourth instalment in Nicole James’ contemporary, adult EVIL DEAD MC: SECOND GENERATION erotic, MC romance series. This is property renovator Ian MacLeod, and accountant Harley’s story line. RECKLESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual first person perspectives ( Ian and Harley) RECKLESS follows in the wake of the drunken marriage between our story line couple. Harley and her friends are in Las Vegas to celebrate her best friend’s bachelorette party but our heroine finds herself celebrating with someone else. Waking up next to her one-night stand reveals a wedding she does not remember, and a husband of whom she is trying to escape but once back home in California, Harley will quickly discover not all is well in the world of the MC, and the Evil Dead may be going to war. With the surprise arrival of the man that she married, Harley is desperate to keep this bit of information on the down low but an attack against our couple forces Harley to reveal the truth to save the man with whom she is falling in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Harley and Ian, and the potential fall-out when the MC war comes to their front door
The world building focuses on a secret marriage, a growing relationship, and the Evil Dead MC’s potential for war with the Devil Kings MC. The club has been targeted by a possible rogue, and in doing so, set their sights on our story line couple. Ian McLeod is hoping for something more, a future with the woman he married in Las Vegas but Harley suspects Ian’s place in her life Is only a temporary affair.
The relationship between Ian and Harley is a ‘woke up married in Vegas’ affair in which Harley struggles with what happened and why. Our heroine doesn’t remember her drunk Vegas wedding but a large diamond ring, and an album of photos proves there is more to her weekend in Vegas than she could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including all of the previous story line couples, and several members of the Evil Dead MC OG.
RECKLESS is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, family and friendship, relationships and love. The character driven premise is enticing and edgy ; the characters are flirty, animated and sassy; the romance is spicy and impulsive
