Join Agents Emma Monroe and Zack Armstrong.
She protected him. He loved her.
They can trust one another with their lives, but what about their hearts?

Special Agent Emma Monroe is a Fallen Siren seeking redemption. Thousands of years ago, she was banished from Mount Olympus by Zeus and cursed by Demeter for failing to prevent the kidnapping of Persephone by Hades. Now she’s working for the FBI, seeking salvation while searching for and finding the missing. Her partner, Zack Armstrong, is a werewolf with a grievance of his own.

The former Black Ops sniper who once carried out a string of questionable assignments is atoning for his past. Ironically, Zack’s just discovered an important piece of his past has been magically wiped from his memory—an affair with Emma. It doesn’t matter she used the spell to save his life, that’s something he’ll never know. With trust eroded and love overshadowed by betrayal the only thing holding them together is the job.

When the son of multi-billionaire Roger Maitlan is kidnapped and his babysitter murdered in cold blood, Emma and Zack travel to New York to work the case. They go undercover, infiltrating a playground of private dungeons where those who are rich and powerful can live out fantasies without consequence. What they find is a conspiracy born of a twisted mind and fueled by greed. The clock is ticking. Will Zack and Emma be able to find the missing boy and their way back to one another?

Review:
Forsaken by S.J. Harper is book 2.5 of their Fallen Siren series. This is a novella that picks up right after the second book ended. In Forsaken, S.J. Harper continues the trend of exciting, tense filled stories that are filled with pulse-pounding action. Emma and Zack continue to work together to solve major crimes, despite their intense feelings for each other. Zack cannot remember his relationship with Emma, but knows deep down that something did happen, and he continues to feel the chemistry between them. Emma cares strongly for Zack, but she knows showing those feelings could be the death of him.   They make such a great couple, even if they fight it. He is a werewolf and she is a Fallen Siren, and together they are wonderful team.

In Forsaken, a child is kidnapped and Zack with Emma’s help must find the boy; the son of Zack’s billionaire friend, before he is killed. With a race against the clock, the suspense multiplies after discovering the motive of revenge and greed that insures the boy will not be saved by just money. There are betrayals, and twists that make story even more intense as we head to the finish.

During all of this, the romance between Zack and Emma continues to get hotter and hotter.   Will Emma allow herself to continue this romance with Zack, putting him in danger? Will Zack discover the truth why he can’t remember what he knows has happened?

Jeanne C. Stein and Samantha Sommersby make up the writing team of S.J. Harper, and they do a fabulous job of creating such a wonderful series. Each book is filled with excitement, suspense, intrigue, sexy romance and a wonderful couple.   Fallen Siren is a great series that I suggest you read, and please start with the first book.

Review:

Reckoning by S.J. Harper is the second book in her Fallen Siren series. I really enjoyed the first book, with a fun, sexy and entertaining story. I was anxiously awaiting this book to see if this great team of Emma and Zack would continue. I am happy to say this was just as good as the first.

In case you have not read the first book, here is a brief description of the series: Emma Monroe is our heroine. Emma is Siren back in the days of the goddess Demeter, when she and other sirens were punished for the kidnapping of Persephone. Emma spends her life on earth; she is an FBI special agent, with her duty to help save the lives of humans, as she waits for redemption. Of course, thousands of years have passed, and the goddess doesn’t look like she plans on forgiving Emma. Zack is her partner, a werewolf, and in the first book they both fell hard for each other. At the end of the first book, Emma erased his memory, to save his life, as Demeter will do anything to make Emma miserable

Months later, Emma and Zach are assigned to a high profile case of the kidnappings of teenage girls, all young, blond and virgins. Zack and Emma investigate, and slowly some of the pieces will fall into place. This will cause Emma to enlist the help of her vampire lover, Kallistos, since clues are pointing at vampires somehow involved with blood donations.

What follows is a very well written story, excellent pace, as we discover the truth. Zack, Emma, Kallistos and the rest of their friends/teams find themselves up against a dangerous enemy. While this is going on, Zach, and Kallistos have their own battle to fight for Emma’s affections. Zach finds himself puzzled and angry that Emma is with the vampire, and pushes his attempts away. He knows she has feelings for him, but refuses to act on them. This does cause friction between Zach and Kallistos, which is fun at times to see them try to best each other. This threesome was a lot of fun, in between the danger surrounding them.

I do not want to give any spoilers, but this was an excellent mystery, with magic and some mythology, not to mention the romance. Poor Emma though, must face Demeter again, and we feel her pain. You need to read this series, to get in on this fun series.

Description:

Emma Monroe is a Fallen Siren, cursed by the gods and banished to Earth for her failure to prevent the kidnapping of Persephone. She’s had many names and many lives, but only one mission: redemption. Now she works for the FBI and is on temporary assignment in Charleston. Zack Armstrong is a Werewolf. Tall, dark, and dangerous, he currently works for one of the bureau’s elite Child Abduction Rapid Deployment teams. In many respects the man is every bit as mysterious as his secret and perilous past. But there are two things he’s certain about, that he’s going to get his man and his woman.

When Zack finds himself suddenly shy a partner and a third child goes missing in Charleston, Emma goes from consultant to CARD team member in the space of a few hours. The abductions of the first two boys ended in murder, an outcome that neither Zack nor Emma can abide. As they race against time to track down the kidnapper and rescue the latest victim, they find themselves fighting something just as treacherous—a growing attraction that can’t be ignored or denied.

Review:

Captured by S.J. Harper is a prequel story (171 pages) to her Fallen Siren series. I reviewed the first book in this series, Cursed and enjoyed that very much. Captured, takes place before then, when our heroes first meet.

Emma Monroe is our heroine, and she is a Fallen Siren. One of three sirens, punished by the Greek Goddess, Demeter, for allowing her daughter, Persephone to be kidnapped. They have have been cursed and banished to live among mortals on earth. Thus far in this prequel and in the first novel, we have only met Emma. She has spent centuries saving those in trouble, mainly other woman, hoping for redemption in the eyes of Demeter. Emma is an FBI agent, and this story tells us how she met Zack, another FBI agent she falls for in the first book.

Zack, who is a werewolf, something no one knows (though Emma knows), and he too is an FBI agent. Emma is sent to help Zack on a high profile case of a kidnapped child. With two similar cases having resulted in the death of the child, Emma arrives in Charleston to help Zack.

I will not give out any spoilers, but I will say this was an exciting action packed thriller, as Emma and Zack race against time to find the kidnapper before the child is killed. It is an intense story, allowing us to see the police procedurals that sometimes cause friction among the different divisions who want to solve the case.

An important part of this story is attraction between Zack and Emma, and her determination not to allow herself to fall for Zack. Emma knows that the goddess Demeter keeps a close watch on her and the sirens. Any man that she would become serious with would suffer the consequences of Demeter’s revenge, which we do learn more about in Cursed. But was a wonderful mystery suspense, and romance that began to sizzle, though the future was slim. I suggest you read this series, and start with Captured, then go Cursed. Reckoning is the next full novel in this series, and I am looking forward to reading it.
