REVIEW: FIASCO is the sixth and final instalment in the contemporary, adult DIRTY ACES MC erotic, MC, romance series co-authored by Lane Hart and DB West. This is MC member and roofer Phillip ‘Fiasco’ Stafford, and registered nurse Joanna Patton’s story line. FIASCO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. The Dirty Aces series is a spin-off from the author’s Savage Kings MC but you do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow the story. Joanna and Fiasco’s story line begins in book five WIRTH.

NOTE: Some of the events of FIASCO cross over with and run parallel to the events of book five WIRTH.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Fiasco and Joanna) FIASCO follows in the aftermath of a shooting wherein Fiasco is recovering at the home of nurse Joanna Patton but Joanna’s connection to the MC is a secret, and with it, Fiasco knows that any future with Joanna may mean the end of his time with the Dirty Aces MC. Days after his recover Fiasco hits a stray dog, and the only person he can think about is the woman that saved his life. As Joanna and Fiasco agree to co-parent the puppy, there are more important people in Fiasco’s life that require his attention, money and time. What ensues is the building relationship between Fiasco and Joanna, and the fall-out as Joanna’s attempts to help Fiasco backfire, forcing Joanna out of his life but not before our heroine sets to right a number of wrong.

The relationship between Fiasco and Joanna begins when Joanna is tasked with nursing Fiasco during his recovery from a couple of gunshot wounds. Joanna never expected to fall for her ‘patient’ but something about Fiasco tears at her heart. Fiasco’s earlier years were fraught with abuse and neglect, and with it the nightmares and fear of what happened and why. Falling for Joanna was never in the cards but Joanna’s attempts to help Fiasco with past mistakes finds our heroine on the outside looking in when another accident pushes Joanna out of his life. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense.

Most of the previous story line MC members play secondary and supporting characters including Nash, Devlin, Silas, Wirth and Malcolm; Joanna’s friend and roommate Casey, and former Kings of Wrath MC member Hunt. We are also introduced to Katrina and Giselle, Sierra and Asher.

FIASCO is a story of family, betrayal, desperation and loss. The fast paced premise is dramatic and engaging; the romance is passionate ; the characters are broken, healing, and lost. The conflict resolution was a little too clean-I thought there should have been more resistance from the people involved.
