REVIEW: FLASHOVER is the second instalment in Delta James’s contemporary adult, FIREBOUND erotic, paranormal romance series focusing on the Blackstrike Unit, a team of smoke-jumping, dragon shifters. This is dragon shifter Kade Veyron, and fire fighter Liv Monroe.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Liv and Kade) FLASHOVER follows in the aftermath of a flashover that killed Liv Monroe’s entire crew, a disaster that has now placed a target on our heroine’s back. Demoted, and forced to train new recruits and rookies in the Arizona sun, Liv finds herself facing safety officer Kade Veyron, a man who is much more than he appears to be. Someone or something is targeting the training camp, and in spite of, or because of recent events, Liv has been marked as a potential suspect, and all eyes are on Liv as the incidents increase but one man is determined to prove Liv is innocent, and in doing so, dragon shifter Kade Veyron discovers the woman he is trying to save, is the woman that calls to his heart.
The world building follows Kade and Liv as they battle the rumors, the elements, the questionable fires, and the pull that burns between dragon and mate. The familiarity of the fires, and the unnatural burn forces Kade and Liv to look to the past, and the people who had targeted our story line heroine.
The relationship between Liv and Kade is one of immediate attraction. Kade knows immediately that Liv is his fated mate but when someone takes aim at our story line heroine, Kade is determined to claim the woman that calls to his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and determined secondary and supporting characters including several firefighters, dragon shifters, and a new group known as the Ignis Syndicate that are determined to prove Kade and the entire Blackstrike team are more than human firefighters.
FLASHOVER is a story of secrets and lives, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, magic and mayhem , acceptance and love. The fast pace premise is detailed and dramatic but the author’s writing style has changed virtually overnight-more flowery, poetic and descriptive-the world building is more elaborate and colorful ; the romance is fast and furious; the characters are charismatic, dynamic and strong.

REVIEW: HIS REDEMPTION is the fourth instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult MAFIA MASTERS dark, erotic, paranormal, Mafia romance series. This is panther shifter/ Irish Mobster Finn O’Neill, and computer hacker Keira Lynch’s story line. HIS REDEMPTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Finn and Keira) HIS REDEMPTION follows in the wake of the wedding that never was. Approximately three years earlier, Keira Lynch became a runaway bride when she discovered she was a pawn in the Irish Mafia machinations, a payment for debt in an effort to gain more power. Fast forward to present day, Keira has been called home to Boston where she will come face to face with her past, the man she has never stopped loving but a man who is so much more than she could have ever imagined. Keira Lynch is in trouble, someone has discovered her exploits overseas, and the only man able to protect our heroine is the man whose heart she destroyed three years earlier.
The world building follows the rebuilding relationship between Keira and Finn as Keira struggles with the betrayal from the past. Believing she was nothing more than a pawn, Keira ran but never forgot about what happened and why. Finn is determined to claim Keira as his own but his secrets are both deadly and mystical.
The relationship between Keira and Finn is one of second chances but Keira is unaware of Finn’s true self. Finn knows Keira is their mate but with a target on her back, there may be no time to claim the woman with whom he had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are limited including Keira’s questionable uncle Cathal, and Finn’s second Donal.
HIS REDEMPTION is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, forgiveness and acceptance, fate and love. The fast paced premise is enchanting and entertaining; the characters are determined and charismatic; the romance is limited but seductive.
