ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 27, 2023

I am a laid-back wise guy.
A veteran, a friend, a marksman, and a loner.

My name is Honon.
I may be hesitant to pull the trigger, but am not afraid to fire with the right target in my sights.

I am a focused free spirit.
A black sheep, a go-getter, a scrapper, and an artist.

My name is Emme.
I’m single-minded enough to reach my goals, but still moderately flexible when life throws a curveball.

We make a reluctant couple—our hesitation evident—but when innocent lives are endangered, and hard-fought trust is challenged, we discover who we can count on.
Each other.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 18, 2022.

When her sister, Pippa, goes missing, Nella Freling tells her boss she’s taking time off from her job as a research librarian, hops in her sensible van, and heads south of the border to Montana. However, local police don’t seem too concerned about a missing woman living in her motorhome. So Nella will have to look for Pippa by herself, unless she can convince a highly recommended tracker to help her, but sadly the rude and angry cowboy won’t even listen to her at first.

But Nella can be persuasive.

The first time High Mountain Tracker, Fletch Boone, laid eyes on Nella, her ass was stuck in his grocery cart. The next time was at the ranch; she was wearing mud, head to toe. But when he catches sight of her a third time, hanging off a cliff, he can’t turn his back again. What Nella lacks in survival skills she makes up for in sheer determination. Unfortunately, neither of those is enough protection when bullets start flying.

Fletch has no choice but to jump in before the woman gets herself killed.

And that would be a damn shame.

REVIEW:HIGH STAKES is the second instalment in Freya Barker’s contemporary, adult HIGH MOUNTAIN TRACKERS erotic, romantic suspenses series focusing on a group for former US Special Forces soldiers who own and work for High Mountain Trackers in Montana. This is forty-seven year old Fletch Boone, and forty-three year old researcher Nella Freling’s story line. HIGH STAKES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Fletch and Nella) HIGH STAKES follows the search for missing Canadian hiker Pippa Freling. Nella Freling hasn’t heard from her sister in close to fourteen days, and with the advise of a friend, Nella arrives in Montana only to be greeted by a grumpy former warrior who wants nothing to do with our story line heroine but searching on her own means falling victim to the elements, and Fletch refuses to let another ‘hiker’ go missing on his watch. A sudden storm traps Nella and Fletch in a cave overnight but the discovery of tracks and some blood lead our couple to Nella’s missing but injured sister. As Nella struggles to make sense of what happened and why, our heroine begins an investigation of her own in the hopes of finding her sister’s RV, only to discover that all is not well in Libby, Montana. What ensues is the building relationship between Nella and Fletch, and the potential fall-out as the search for the truth places a target on our heroine’s back.

Fletch Boone doesn’t do relationships, and prefers to work on his own but a feisty woman with more energy than sense throws Fletch for a loop, and our hero knows that to leave Nella to her own devises could blow up in both of their faces. At every turn Nella is defying Fletch, and the local law enforcement, and in doing so finds herself risking her life to take down the people responsible.

The relationship between Fletch and Nella begins acrimoniously. Fletch doesn’t want anything to do with our story line heroine, or searching for a woman who is probably not lost but evidence begins to surface about the possibility of something much more dangerous going on, and Fletch refuses to let Nella go on her own. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include ranch and High Mountain Trackers owner Jonas Harvey and his wife Alexandra Hart; Jonas’ teammates James Watike and his wife Ama, Bo, Sully Eckhart, as well as Jonas’ father Thomas Harvey. Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting character including Mel’s daughter Lindsey, six year old Mason, Lisa and Brick (Edge of Tomorrow) MC president Ouray and his wife FBI Agent Luna, Tse and Sophia (Edge of Fear); numerous club members MC members Wapi, Kaga and Lea, Trunk, Paco, Honon, and law enforcement Detective Ramirez, Detective Yelinek, FBI SAC Agent Damian Gomez. The requisite evil has many faces.

EDGE OF REALITY is a story of power, abuse and control, betrayal and vengeance, friendships, relationships and family. The premise is gritty and honest; the romance is spicy and moving; the characters are sassy, spirited, and determined.

The more she uncovers, the closer she gets to the firefighter who not only pulled her son from the river, but who also seems present everywhere she turns.

Bodhi (Roadkill) Jones doesn’t believe in things like fate, although, he can’t deny the way his life seems to be entwined with the spunky redhead is more than mere coincidence. REVIEW: WATCHING TRIN is the seventh instalment in Freya Barker’s contemporary, adult On Call: Police and Fire: Operation Alpha multi-authored erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on side characters first introduced by author Susan Stoker. This is thirty-eight year old firefighter Bodhi ‘Roadkill’ Jones, and forty-two year old, journalist and single mother Katrina ‘Trin’ Paige’s story line. WATCHING TRIN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: For fans of Freya Barker, there is a slight cross over with several characters from the author’s ARROW’S EDGE MC series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bodhi and Trin) following several intersecting paths, WATCHING TRIN follows the building romance and relationship between thirty-eight year old firefighter Bodhi ‘Roadkill’ Jones, and forty-two year old, journalist and single mother Katrina ‘Trin’ Paige. With her aging father’s health worsening, forty-two year old, single mother Trin Paige, along with her fourteen year old son Tucker, returns to her home town of Durango Colorado, in an effort to help her sister Victoria, look after their dad. A few days in, Trin’s father go missing, and with the help of local firefighter Bodhi Jones, Trin soon comes to realize the family may have bitten off more than they can chew but things go from bad to worse when her son is injured while rafting, and a body is found in a decades old car, submerged deep in the water. An investigation by Trin begins to a reveal a close connection to several people in town, a connection that may or may not have placed our heroine in the direct line of fire. As Trin’s investigation begins to take a more personal turn for our story line hero, Trin finds herself on the receiving end of more than one threating message, and mysterious accidents. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Bodhi and Trin, and the potential fall-out as the past comes full circle, in an attempt, to reclaim what doesn’t belong.

Trin Paige has been on her own for a very long time but her father’s declining health means moving back to a town she left years before. Along with her fourteen year old son Tucker, Trin finds it difficult to settle after her father’s health worsens, and her bi-racial son struggles to adjust at a new school. Meeting Bodhi Jones stirs something long thought buried and gone but the chaos at home doesn’t leave time for a start up relationship. Bodhi Jones knew immediately that Katrina Paige was someone he wanted to know. Working alongside Trin’s sister Victoria brought Bodhi up close and personal with his future but a future that is threatened by someone from the past.

The relationship between Bodhi and Trin is one of immediate attraction but Trin battles between head and heart knowing that all is not well with her father at home. From the outset, her bi-racial son struggles to fit in, and with it, thoughts of discrimination and racism are not far behind. With Bodhi Jones in her life, Trin begins to adjust to life in Durango but all is not well in the small town where everyone knows everyone else. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Trin’s son Tucker, her sister/ fire fighter Victoria, and their father Bruce Paige; Bodhi’s parents Nira and Chuck Jones, and his sister Anika; several members of the Durango Fire Department, as well as several members of the Arrow’s Edge MC.

WATCHING TRIN is a story of obsession, betrayal, vengeance and jealousy, family and friendships, mental health, bullying, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging, twisted and edgy; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are spirited and lively.
