REVIEW: REAPER is the eighth (and final?) instalment in Brooke Summers’ contemporary, adult FURY VIPERS MC dark, erotic, MC romance series. This is MC members/mechanic Grayson ‘Reaper’ Duggan, and primary school teacher Esme Greene’s story line. REAPER can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in orders as there is an ongoing premise throughout that will culminate in this instalment.

The events of REAPER cross over with, and run parallel to the events of several of the previous instalments.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Esme Reaper) covering several years, REAPER follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Esme Greene briefly met Reaper years earlier but Esme was engaged to another man, and Reaper wanted nothing to do with our story line heroine. Fast forward approximately four years, Reaper and Esme’s own lives imploded, and both wanted a new start but not necessarily with one another. Esme was now friends/close with the Fury Vipers MC, and Reaper was hoping for something more but he did not recognize our story line heroine, and in this, her cold attitude struck him hard but once again, their lives were about to implode, and Reaper would become guardian and protector of the woman with whom he would fall in love. Esme’s past refuses to let go, and Reaper is about to say good bye to a brother he considers more than a friend, a brother who is continuing to struggle with the demons from the past. What ensues is the building relationship between Esme and Reaper, and the potential fall-out as Esme’s past refuses to walk away, taking aim at our story line heroine.

The world building continues to focus on the betrayal by a couple of former club wh*%es, a betrayal that will directly affect Reaper, and his best friend Preacher. Preacher’s life continues to spiral such that he is no longer the man Reaper once knew. When Esme’s past demands her return, the Fury Vipers MC get help from the Italian Mafia and the Irish mob but more specifically, the woman in charge, Makenna Gallagher-Bianchi.

The relationship between Reaper and Esme begins acrimoniously approximately four years earlier. Reaper does not remember our story line heroine, and Esme wants nothing to do with the man who pushed her aside but when Reaper discovers the who, how and why, he wants to claim Esme as his own but his own life is about to change, and he will take Esme along for the ride. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, familiar and charismatic secondary and supporting characters from the Fury Vipers MC and the Made Series who will play a significant role in the lives of our story line couple. The requisite evil has many faces.

REAPER is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, obsession and madness, family, friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is gritty, dark and dramatic; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are desperate, determined, and dynamic. As Wrath and Hayley settled into a form of domesticated life, the past would return, demanding everything and more. The world building covers five and half years where we will discover the abuse and assaults against our story line heroine. DIGGER is a story of betrayal and vengeance, abuse and power, obsession, family, relationships and love. The premise is gritty and heart breaking but I struggled with the number of times the heroine is left unprotected, attacked and harmed- in every other series, the MC force or take the target into protection-the actions or lack there of are questionable and unbelievable; the romance is emotional and provocative; the characters are charismatic, energetic and broken.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mayhem and Effie) following several timelines, MAYHEM focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between twenty-three year old, paediatric nurse Effemia ‘Effie’ ‘Mia’ Ryan, and twenty five year old, Vipers Fury MC members Benjamin ‘Benji’ ‘Mayhem’ Copeford. Benji Copeford left the HK Street Crew, joining the Fury Vipers MC in the process but all was not well at the top, and Benji was constantly pulled from the woman he loved. Three years, back and forth, would finally take its’ toll on our story line heroine but a workplace incident finds Effie a victim of revenge, revenge in the form of the Hangman’s Disciples MC. Beaten and bruised, tortured and assaulted, Effie would escape only to discover she left someone behind. What ensues is the acrimonious and struggling relationship between Benji aka Mayhem and Effie, and the potential fall-out as Effie struggles with issues of trust, having lost all faith in the man she continues to love.

The relationship between Effie and Benji is awkward, tragic, emotional and pained. Benji, now known as Mayhem, must prove himself to the Fury Vipers MC but the man at the top is forcing a confrontation, a confrontation that will pit the members against one of their own. Losing Effie was never in the cards, but pushing her away was only meant to protect not destroy her heart. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

Once again, we are re-introduced to the members of the Fury Vipers MC including Stag and Kinsley, president Jaws Anderson, VP Tobias ‘Ace’ Anderson, Digger, Preacher, Pyro, as well as the return of Makenna Gallagher (Bloody Union-Made #1), and several members of the Hangman’s Disciples including Blade and Ripper; Effie’s brother Kale ‘Malice’ Ryan, and her best friend Octavia ‘Tavia’.
