Dear Agony,

You’ve been my shadow, following me through childhood—filling my days and nights with terror and uncertainty. You cleverly disguised yourself as some form of pain or suffering as I grew into a young woman. We were unwavering companions … until I severed our ties.

I traded homelessness on the streets of New Orleans for a luxurious bed covered by the finest linens.

I traded dumpster diving for dinner in the finest restaurants.

I traded myself to a stranger—Bastien Pascal.

I have a good life within my platonic and mutually beneficial companionship with Bash.

He’s my friend. My mentor. My roommate.

Until everything changes.

I’m not supposed to get goosebumps when his hand brushes my skin.

I’m not supposed to be eager for his soothing touch following one of my nightmares.

I’m not supposed to think about what might happen if I reached out to him in the darkness.

Falling in love with him? Preposterous . . . unavoidable.

Agony, why are you back with a vengeance to rob me of this life I’ve come to love so dearly?

I’m finally happy. Don’t ruin this for me.

Always yours,

Rose

Dear Agony Teaser 2

In this epic love story, Dear Agony forges a connection between an unlikely pair—a beautiful rose entwined in barbed wire and a shipwreck sinking into the darkest depths of the ocean. This agonizing romantic novel poses some gut-wrenching questions: What does a woman do when the man she loves is planning his own demise? And how far will she go to give him something to live for?

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 11, 2016

I’m a doctor. Mobster. Killer.
My hands are covered in filth. I don’t have the right to touch anything as clean and pure as Ellison MacAllister.

I distance myself … always remaining obscure, composed, restrained.
Careful to never allow my eyes to linger too long.
Careful to hide my interest.
Careful to keep my burning desire buried beneath the surface.

I do it for her–suffer in silence–because it’s what is best for the woman I love.
And she has no idea.

She’ll be initiated as a Fellowship member soon. One of my mafia brothers will go through endurance so he’ll earn the right to claim her. Make her his wife. Kill. Me. Slowly.

I’m running out of time. Only a month remains before she’s beyond my reach forever. I want to taste her. Share sleepless nights. Ride out her storm.
I want to give her the kind of nights she will still feel between her legs the next morning. I want us to share the kind of passion that forms on our skin and drips down to saturate the sheets. Between the sweat and the moans and the messy hair, I want her to know how hard she’s been loved.

To have her is to taint her. I should stay away. But I won’t. I can’t. I’m a selfish bastard. A selfish bastard in love.

***Intended for readers ages 18+ due to sexual content, adult situations, and language.

REVIEW: ENDURANCE is the fourth installment in Georgia Cates’ contemporary, adult THE SIN TRILOGY focusing on the men and women of the Scottish Mafia known as the Fellowship. This is American nurse Ellison MacAllister, and physician Jamie Breckenridge’s story line. Jamie is the cousin of Sinclair Breckenridge (heir to the Scottish Fellowship crime syndicate), and Ellison is the sister of Sinclair’s wife Bleu, both of whom were the focus of the original Sin Trilogy. ENDURANCE is a standalone story line in Georgia’s THE SIN TRILOGY SERIES but I recommend reading the original trilogy for backstory, cohesion, and an understanding of the world of the Fellowship.

Told from dual first person points of view (Jamie and Ellison) ENDURANCE follows the building relationship between Jamie Breckenridge and Ellison MacAllister. Jamie is a high ranking member of the Scottish Fellowship crime syndicate but has chosen a different path than that of his Fellowship brothers. He is their much needed doctor, and a man who is just as capable of killing the same as his brothers. Ellison came to Scotland to be close to her sister, who married into the Fellowship ranks, but has found herself falling in love with a man who is unable to claim the woman he loves. To enter into a relationship with a member of the Fellowship, a woman must be claimed, and her mate must suffer the ‘Endurance’ to prove both are worthy. What ensues are Jamie’s attempts to keep Ellison close by his side while ensuring no other member of the Fellowship lays claim to the woman he loves, and The Fellowship’s preparations for a war against a rival syndicate known as The Order.

ENDURANCE is a story of family, honor and love. Jamie was groomed to be a leader but has chosen to be a healer within the ranks of the Fellowship. A disappointment to both his father and mother, Jamie believes the path he has chosen is honorable and worthy. His attraction to Ellison is complicated by the fact that Jamie is unwilling to claim the woman with whom he has fallen in love in order to protect her from the life he has chosen. Working together as the Fellowship’s medical team is one way to keep Ellison by his side.

The relationship between Ellison and Jamie is one of immediate attraction-a friends to lovers story line of forbidden love for a man whose need to protect is paramount. Ellison has lusted and loved Jamie from afar, and refuses to accept that Jamie is willing to watch her be claimed by another man. Throughout the story we watch as Jamie denies his love for Ellison forcing a potential claiming by a Fellowship brother or a member of a rival syndicate. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble of secondary and supporting characters including Sin and Bleu from the original Sin Series Trilogy, as well as Jamie’s sister Westlyn who will sacrifice herself to save the woman that Jamie loves. Kieran and Westlyn’s story is next.

The world building continues to focus on the Scottish crime syndicates, and the laws that govern their survival and existence. The ‘Endurance’ is a time honored, brutal tradition with the Fellowship when a man lays claim to the woman he loves.

ENDURANCE is a passionate and electric story. The premise is energetic; the characters are animated and courageous; the romance is provocative and fated.

Excerpt beige

“I don’t mind your stuff being all over our bedroom. And our bathroom. And the hallway leading from the staircase.” Trust me. Her shite is every-fucking-where. “I knew what I was getting into when I asked a high-maintenance lass like yourself to move in with me.”
Ellison giggles. “You did not. You knew zero about what it would be like living with me. And I can guarantee that whatever you’re thinking you’ve gotten yourself into with me ain’t even close to the reality of it.”
“Then why don’t you tell me?”
“I was thinking I would show you.” She grins and I’ve come to know in a short while that it’s a sure sign of mischief. “That is if you think you can handle it.”
“I promise I won’t be the one who can’t handle it.” I already know what kind of lover she likes and wants.
And I very much want to be the alpha she wants.
I pick Ellison up and throw her over my shoulder to carry her to the bed. Well, to the mattress on the floor.
I was planning to wait until bedtime to fuck her—after the work was done and everything was in place—but she’s made it impossible for me to wait another minute.
I toss her on the mattress and stand over her while I pull my T-shirt over my head and start working to get my jeans off. “I’m done waiting to have you.”
She smiles as her eyes survey my body. “I’ve been wondering what you look like underneath your shirt.”
“And?”
“I approve one hundred percent.”
“Take off your clothes, Mac. I want to watch you get naked.” My voice is stern. I’ll be the one in control. The one taking what I want. The one who’ll be completely unapologetic. Exactly what she said she wanted.
It’s November, that time of year where Scotland experiences more darkness than light. The sun is long gone, so the room is illuminated only by the soft lamp on the bedside table. It’s actually sort of perfect.
Ellison sits up and pulls her shirt over her head. Black and hot-pink lace covers what I already know is a beautiful pair of tits that fit my hands perfectly. And I can’t wait to get my hands on them again.
Her lovely breasts tumble out of her bra and she tosses it on the mattress before pushing her thumbs into the waistband of her yoga pants to drag them down her legs. A tiny black and hot-pink lace triangle barely covers the mound between her thighs.
She’s completely naked when she falls backward on the mattress, her feet apart and knees pressed together. Waiting. “No, Mac. You don’t get to close your legs on me. I want to see you. All. Of. You.” I put my palms together and then pull them apart to widen the space between my hands. “Spread them.”
She bites her bottom lip—an attempt to mask her grin—as her knees slowly fall apart. “Is this what you want to look at?”
My underwear is tight. My cock is straining hard against the fabric so I push them down and out of the way. “I think this is a sure sign I want to do more than look at it.”
Ellison grins. “Mmm. Someone’s eager.”
“You have no idea.”
I go to my knees and crawl over Ellison. “I’ve imagined us like this no less than a million times. I’ve seen it happen in my head over and over.”
Ellison brings my hand to her mouth to kiss my palm. “I’ve imagined us together too. I can’t tell you how many times.”
My mouth connects with hers and she opens wide to invite my tongue inside to play. Silky. Slippery. Seductive. I like this game very much.
A little taunting. A little tickling. A lot of teasing. This woman knows how a man likes to be kissed.
I drag my mouth away from her lips and kiss that spot below her ear before moving down the side of her neck. My hands similarly mimic the downward motion beginning at her ribcage and moving lower on her sides, waist, and hips.
She pushes her fingers into the top of my hair and arches her back when I move lower to suck her nipple into my mouth. A soft gasp/moan expels from her chest when my tongue licks the erect point.
I know she’s going to squirm so I grasp her bum hard and hold her in place as I move lower to kiss the top of her pubic bone. “Doc, this teasing . . . it’s torture.”
“Do you want my mouth on you?”
She lifts her hips and squirms. “Yesss. So badly.”
She jolts when my tongue darts out and licks the top of her slit. “Ohhh.”
I tickle her clit with my tongue and then lick once. Twice. Three times. “I love the way you taste. And smell.”
She rocks her hips in a back and forth motion against my mouth. Her body shudders and a moan is released when my tongue works her in a circular motion. “More?”
“Please. Feels so good.”
Pleasing Ellison. Hearing her moans. Licking her until she comes. I’m going to enjoy this.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 10, 2016

Craft beer and the sexy men who brew it.

A beautiful neighbor. A complete stranger. That’s all she was when I moved in next door.

Adelyn Maxwell is my neighbor but she’s no girl next door. The more I come to know her, the more I discover she’s a good girl with a lovely dark side. And maybe I don’t want her to stay on her side of the fence.

I want to disturb the rhythm of her pulse.

I want to see the way her hair spills on the bed when she lies beneath me.

I want her to teach me the dirty pretty things she desires behind closed doors. And she does.

But mostly I want to leave my mark on the most intimate, untouched part of her body. Her heart.

A seemingly insignificant intersection of our lives neither of us recalls suddenly becomes a pivotal moment in our future. We aren’t strangers at all. And our paths aren’t crossing for the first time.

These twists and turns of fate will become one of two things: a wrecking ball to tear us apart or the connection to bond us together forever.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: STOUT is the second installment in Georgia Cates’s contemporary, adult LOVIBOND erotic, romance series focusing on three friends-Lucas ‘Tap’ Broussard, Oliver ‘Stout’ Thorn, and Porter of Lovibond Brewery. This is Lovibond co-owner Oliver Thorn, and events coordinator Adelyn Maxwell’s story line. We were first introduced to Oliver in book 1-TAP-Oliver is Lawry’s brother. STOUT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Adelyn and Oliver aka Max and Thorn) STOUT focuses on the building relationship between new neighbors Adelyn and Oliver-a relationship that begins with a welcome to the neighborhood basket of baked goodies, a nosy sister who asks all of the right questions, and a PR event for Lovibond Brewery. What ensues is a slow building relationship between two people whose previous love matches resulted in broken and destroyed hearts. Trust must earned, and in this, our couple find themselves at odds on more than one occasion.

The attraction between Adelyn and Oliver is immediate and visceral but neither one is willing to act on their feelings and emotions. Their first night together finds Oliver out of his comfort zone, and out of Adelyn’s immediate life. Adelyns’s needs in the bedroom find Oliver focusing on the past. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive and provocative.

STOUT has a large ensemble of secondary and supporting characters including Lawry and Luke from TAP; Lawry and Oliver’s amazing parents; and Adelyn’s preacher father and his wife. We are also introduced to several friends and acquaintances, as well as Oliver’s new PA who may or may not be having an affair with Porter. Lawry’s friends Kelsey and Ivy make a cameo appearance at Oliver’s thirtieth birthday party-these girls like to tell it like it is. The world building continues to focus on the ‘craft beer’ industry though not as detailed as book one.

Georgia Cates seduces the reader with her stories of romance, love, family and a HEA. The premise is moving and compelling; the characters are captivating, entertaining and passionate; the romance is sensual and spirited. STOUT looks at heartbreak and betrayal; love and understanding; moving forward and letting go of the past.

excerpt

“Are you all right?”
I see what I think is concern in Oliver’s eyes. “Not at all.”
Oliver comes to me, takes the dish towel from my hand and tosses it onto the counter. “I want you to leave that nipping son of a bitch here and go for a ride with me on my bike.”
“I don’t know about that.”
“Have you ever ridden on a motorcycle?”
“No.”
“Are you afraid?”
“No.” Yes. But not of metal and rubber or the speed in which the two will carry us.
“Then go for a ride with me. We’ll cruise around the block and if you don’t like it, I’ll bring you right back. Promise.”
I look at Oliver’s attire and then mine. Shorts and tank top probably aren’t ideal for riding. “Give me a minute to change.”
“Okay.” He grabs a biscuit. “Saving these for anyone?”
“No. Have as many as you like. Jam is in the fridge.”
I return wearing faded skinny jeans, a fitted black V-neck T-shirt, black combat boots. I have no intention of brushing my hair for an hour to remove a bazillion knots so I go with a fishtail braid. “Ready.”
“Wow. You look like one badass chick.” I hold out my foot to better display the lace-up boots Maurice calls shit-kickers. “But you don’t just look the part. You are a real badass.” Oliver’s words are a reminder of last night’s blunder.
“Yeah, about that.” Do I own it and roll with the badass perception he has of me? Or do I apologize for going there? Was it TMI?
I can’t decide so the words don’t come.
“I understand more about what influenced your decision than you might think. Don’t be sorry you told me. And don’t be freaking out about it.”
“I’m not freaking out about it.” Lie. Lie. Lie.
He points at the spread of baked goods that says otherwise. “You are totally freaking out about telling me. But don’t. If there’s anyone who gets it, it’s me.”
If there’s anyone who gets it, it’s me. Something has happened to this man. He knows pain. “Tell me about it.”
I don’t have to flesh it out. He knows what I’m asking for.
Hook, line, and sinker. I’m sucked into the storm spinning out of control behind the dilated blackness of his blue eyes.
What I see there confirms I’m right. Something bad has happened to Oliver Thorn.
“I’ll tell you. But first, we ride.”
“Deal.”
Dark stealth. Glossy black rims. Polished to perfection. I’ve seen Oliver’s bike from next door but it’s a much more impressive-looking piece of machinery up-close. “It’s lovely.”
He stops and stares at me. “It’s a custom Ducati Monster 821 Dark. It’s not lovely. It’s badass.” I giggle. Boys and their toys.
“It’s a lovely badass.”
“Maybe you’re the lovely badass.” Damn. There’s that smile again. I bet he can use it to get anything he wants from women.
Lovely. I’m accustomed to compliments from men. I’m often told I’m sexy. Pretty. Beautiful. I once took pleasure in hearing those things from men, especially Martin, but now I receive those words with a grain of salt. And I will this time as well since I’m unsure if Oliver makes a habit of using flattery on women.
However, badass strikes a different chord in me; it’s a reminder of the things I told Oliver last night. All my wrongdoings.
He holds up a black leather jacket. “It’ll get a little cool even though it’s May. Especially if we’re still out after dark.”
I turn and slip my arms into the sleeves. I spin around and he surprises me by closing the zipper teeth and pulling the clasp upward until it stops at my breasts. “A little snug.”
I suck in but it makes my chest rise bigger. No way the zipper is going any further like that.
It’s obvious the jacket belongs to a woman smaller than me. “Guess my boobs are bigger than your ex-girlfriend’s.”
“Breathe out and relax your shoulders.” He pulls the leather together and then yanks the zipper clasp up and over my D-cups. “Your boobs are bigger than my sister’s. This is her jacket.”
“Oh.” I smile on the inside, not daring to let him see me delight in him noticing my boobs. Or my relief in knowing he hasn’t put me in something belonging to an old girlfriend.
“Next.” I take the all-black helmet he offers and slip it over my head. I study the outline of his facial hair as he works on adjusting my chinstrap.
“I feel like a little girl being dressed by her daddy.”
He grins but avoids my eyes. “There’s so much I could say to that.”
“I suppose there is.”
“Feel okay?”
“Despite being squeezed like I’m wearing a corset, yeah.”
He grins and grabs the end of my braid, twirling the end around his finger. “I love red hair. It’s my favorite.”
Oliver Thorn is touching my hair, twirling my hair. My red hair, which he says is his favorite. Do not pant so he can hear you, Adelyn.
I wondered if he intended for lovely badass to be flirtatious. But there’s no questioning this.
He’s insinuated he has demons in his past, which give him the ability to understand my actions, but he must see I’m a little unhinged emotionally. It isn’t possible to miss.
“I once despised it. I used to bleach it blonde with drugstore hair color.”
“Never. Do. That. Again.” There’s an alpha-like tone in his voice. Almost growly. And it sends a sharp tingle down my body. I haven’t felt that in years, and I welcome it.

REVIEW: TAP is the first installment in Georgia Cates contemporary, adult LOVIBOND erotic romance series focusing on three friends-Tap, Stout (Ollie), and Porter of Lovibond Brewery. This is Lovibond co-owner Lucas ‘Tap’ Broussard, and hippie boutique owner Lawrence ‘Wren’ Thorn’s story line.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Tap and Wren) TAP follows the building, forbidden relationship between Tap and Wren. Tap is partnered with Ollie and Porter in the Lovibond brewery but when Ollie (aka Stout) must enter rehab as a result of a DUI and weeks of binge drinking following the break up with his latest girlfriend, he makes Tap promise not to reveal the truth to Ollie’s sister. What ensues is a building relationship between Tap and Wren, based upon fake text messages and lies believed to be from Ollie to Wren.

TAP is a story line that also focuses on the craft beer fad; behind the scenes of a successful business; and the reality of falling in love against the odds. Wren and Ollie’s past is darkened by a history of drug abuse and neglect; Tap’s recent past finds our hero making no promises for the future when he can’t let go of the heartbreak and pain.

The relationship between Tap and Wren begins as a series of lies and deceit that will blossom into a sexual affair they continue to keep secret from family, friends and especially Ollie Thorn. Ollie (Stout) warns Tap to keep away from his older sister but the heart is willing to risk everything for love-a love that will falter with the sins from the past. Tap’s backstory is heartbreaking and defines a good portion of his emotional and mental health. He is a man who will not promise the future because he refuses to believe in marriage or love.

TAP has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Tap’s partners in the Lovibond Brewery-Ollie and Porter- as well as Wren’s friend and boutique co-owner Kelsey, and their best friend Ivy. We are also introduced to Tap and Wren’s parents, and Tap’s ex Bridgette and her new husband Warren. Tap’s past and current relationship with his ex plays a large role throughout the story.

TAP is a tale about love and loss; heartbreak and grief; secrets and lies. The premise is heart-warming in the face of so many obstacles; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is a slow build to a happily ever after. The epilogue fast forwards the story line several years-which makes me wonder where STOUT’S story will begin.

Lawrence Thorn I grab the bottom of his T-shirt and give it a tug. “I think you’re overdressed.”
“I know how to fix that.”
He crosses his arms and grabs the bottom of his shirt, pulling it up and over his head. I stand in awe, taking in his male beauty. Broad shoulders. Pecs filled with muscle. A deep V at his waist, pointing right to his dick. That shit is awesome. Any woman who says it isn’t is a damn liar.
He has ink. A lot. I will take my time exploring that a little later. Maybe even outline it with the tip of my tongue.
My hands splay over the mounds of muscle covering the top of his chest. I suck a nipple into my mouth and give it a tug with my teeth. Women pay too little attention to men’s nipples. But not me. I love them.
Brou’s hands lace through my hair at the nape. “I have a confession.”
I look up but don’t release his nipple. “Mmm hmm?”
“When I turned around and saw you yesterday, I thought you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen. And then you told me you were Stout’s sister. I was crushed because I knew that meant you were out of my reach.”
I release his nipple and straighten so we’re face to face. Sort of. He is quite a bit taller than me.
I snake my arms around his shoulders. “I think I’m very much within your reach. I’m yours until the morning so make it count.”
He slides his hands down my sides into the waist of my maxi skirt and panties. “We may not sleep at all tonight.”
“I’m all in.” Even if it means I won’t be worth shit driving home tomorrow. Every orgasm he gives me will make it worth it.
His mouth possesses mine as he pushes my bottoms down. I step out when both pieces drop to my feet and reach for the button of his jeans.
Brou ignores his phone vibrating on the nightstand. “You need to get that?”
“No fucking way. I’ve waited all day for this.”
A full minute doesn’t pass before the phone dances again. “You sure?”
“Positive.”
The phone rings a third time within two minutes. “They’re persistent.”
“They’re dead if they don’t leave us alone.”

••••••••••••

REVIEW: A NECESSARY SIN is the first installment in Georgia Cates’s adult, contemporary The Sin Trilogy erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on twenty five year old, former FBI Special Agent Bleu MacAllister, and heir to the Scottish Fellowship Crime syndicate twenty six year old Sinclair Breckenridge.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Bleu and Sin) the focus of the storyline is two fold: the building relationship between Bleu and Sinclair; and Bleu’s revenge for the murder of her mother. Eighteen years earlier, Bleu’s mother was murdered and a seven year old Bleu was left for dead-asphyxiated by a well dressed man with a Scottish brogue. Fast forward to present day and Bleu’s need to avenge her mother’s death has become all encompassing. In order to get near the man she hopes to kill, Bleu will have to seduce the son and make him believe that she is the woman of his dreams. Falling in love with the enemy was never in the plans. Bleu is ‘obsessed with finding her attacker’ and she will have to infiltrate the world of organized crime.

The relationship between Bleu and Sin is one of immediate attraction but Bleu is in Scotland to complete a job-kill Thane Breckenridge-the man she believes murdered her mother. Sinclair Breckinridge is a sexy, powerful, intelligent and dangerous man-the heir to the Fellowship Crime Syndicate and a man Bleu has been led to believe has no problems killing on demand. His attraction and need for Bleu finds Sinclair claiming Bleu as his own but in order to protect the woman with whom he has fallen in love, Sinclair must risk his own life at the hands of the people he calls family and friends. Both Sin and Bleu face both internal and personal conflicts. The sex scenes are erotic and sensual. There is plenty of sexual tension between our leading couple.

The secondary and supporting characters are an interesting mix of people with questionable pasts including Sinclair’s friends and fellow members of the Brotherhood (Leith, Jamie); former lovers; and Sinclair’s family (his father Thane, Uncle Abram , and mother Isobel) whose connection to Bleu’s mother’s death may not be everything Bleu has been led to believe. Bleu’s adopted father Harry MacAllister is a former FBI agent who has trained Bleu from an early age to protect and kill whenever necessary.

The world building takes the reader behind the scenes of a dark and dangerous crime syndicate where proving your worth means risking your life at the hands of those in charge. Trust must be earned through pain and blood; fidelity must be sworn with your life; no one is safe when betrayal is discovered. Outsiders are definitely not welcome.

There is some graphic violence and imagery but mostly implied behind the scenes. There is plenty of tension as the reader waits for Bleu’s true identity to be discovered. The plot takes an interesting twist when hints and clues are dropped about who may have been responsible for Bleu’s mother’s death. The storyline ends on a cliff hanger so be forewarned-you will want to read what happens next.

A NECESSARY SIN is an enjoyable and fascinating read; an interesting take on the mob; revenge; and betrayal but there is an important detail left out of the equation. It is never revealed (or at least I am unable to find the information) how Bleu knew the identity of the man who murdered her mother and left Bleu for dead. Also, it was too easy for Bleu to get ‘inside the mob’. For a secretive organization, too many people were willing to reveal too much information to a stranger they knew nothing about.

REVIEW: THE NEXT SIN is the second installment in Georgia Cates contemporary, adult The Sin Trilogy erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on former FBI Special Agent Bleu MacAllister, and heir to the Fellowship Crime family Sinclair Breckenridge. Their continuing story commences approximately three months following the events of book one. Because this is a trilogy, the books should be read in order for cohesion, history and understanding.

NOTE: If you have not read the first book in the series, there may be some spoilers in my review.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Sin and Bleu) the storyline follows Sinclair’s need to protect the woman that he loves. After his uncle Abram uncovers the truth about Bleu’s identity, Sinclair’s only option is to send Bleu back to the United States lest she becomes the next victim of the Fellowship’s revenge. For close to three months Sin follows Bleu in order to protect her from his avenging uncle who will not stop until Bleu is dead. Sin’s only recourse is to marry Bleu and present her back to the Fellowship as his wife. Wives and family are off limits within the Brotherhood but they are not off limits to enemy crime families.

A major portion of THE NEXT SIN continues to focus on Bleu and Sin’s relationship from their very quick reconciliation to a newly married and their attempts to start a family. Georgia Cates takes the reader through Bleu and Sin’s struggles to conceive; and Bleu’s hunt for the person who destroyed her family and murdered her mother. As Bleu begins to strike suspects off her list, one very familiar name continues to top her very personal investigation. The sex scenes are frequent, intimate and intense. Sin is a man possessed by the woman that he loves but discovers that the Fellowship is beginning to take up more of his time than his new wife wants.

The secondary characters continue to play an active role throughout the storyline including Sin’s uncle Abram who has targeted Bleu for her initial betrayal and lies to the Fellowship and Sin. Uncle Abram knows more than he is letting on. Sin’s mother Isobel becomes very maternal; his father Thane welcomes his new daughter in law into the family but all is not right with the Brotherhood-Bleu may be protected but that isn’t stopping the attempts to threaten her into submission.

The violence, is once again, limited to behind the scenes where the aftermath plays a role in the Fellowship’s retaliation and revenge. Towards the end of this installment, the drama begins to unfold as we watch Bleu and Sin’s world begin to fall apart. Their newly wedded bliss is short lived and constantly threatened from outside and from within.

There are some issues of character perspective and points of view throughout the storyline. The alternating first person points of view were offset with third person POV, sometimes within the same paragraph or sentence. It was a little disconcerting with the shift between perspectives especially when it was not intentional or part of the set up. The POV issue affected the smooth flow of the storyline. I purchased my copy of THE NEXT SIN; I did not receive an ARC therefore the issues within the novel were not corrected prior to release.

THE NEXT SIN is a storyline that focuses on revenge, betrayal, family and love. There is passion, romance, seduction and breathtaking intimacy. We are witness destruction and death among the Brotherhood, as well as retaliation for a killing that was never meant to be.

Georgia Cates pulls the reader into a suspense filled storyline where we are constantly waiting for the ‘proverbial shoe to fall’. No one is safe; everyone is suspect; and the newest member of the Breckenridge family has become a pawn in a war between crime families, and a battle for control of the Fellowship.

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: ONE LAST SIN is the third and final installment in Georgia Cates’s adult, contemporary The Sin Trilogy erotic romance series focusing on former FBI Special Agent Bleu MacAllister (now Bleu Breckenridge), and heir to the Scottish Fellowship Crime syndicate Sinclair Breckenridge. As Bleu continues her search for the person responsible for her mother’s murder, Sinclair takes official control of the crime family he was born to lead. Once again, because this is a trilogy, the books should be read in order. The first two installments end on a cliff hanger.

NOTE: If you have not read the previous installments, there may be some spoilers in my review.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Bleu and Sin) the focus of the storyline follows Sinclair Breckenridge as he searches for his missing wife. As two warring Scottish mob families fight for control, a pregnant Bleu Breckenridge becomes a pawn; imprisoned by The Order while her husband struggles to free himself from jail. Upon Bleu’s rescue, Sin will assert his power and leadership, letting The Order know who is in control. Unbeknownst to Bleu, her younger sister arrives for a long term visit-the sister who is completely oblivious to Bleu’s original plan and her connections to the Scottish mob. As Blue and Sin tread lightly around Bleu’s sister, the ‘family’ makes preparations for an upcoming war.

The relationship between Bleu and Sin continues to be loving and protective. The Order has decried revenge for the death of their heir, and has set their sights on destroying the Scottish Fellowship Crime syndicate by targeting Bleu and Sin. Sin’s uncle Abram continues his plans to destroy Bleu and places his nephew in a position from which there is no return. Someone will die; and a family will mourn.

All of the supporting characters return from the previous installments wherein a number of secondary storylines play out to resolution while one in particular has yet to be resolved. Sin’s former best friend Leith destroys any hope for a happily ever after with the woman that he loves breaking Lorna’s heart and spirit in the process- I suspect a spin off series is on the horizon. There is also a slight cross over connection between Georgia Cates’s BEAUTY series with a reference to the fictional country band Southern Ophelia.

There is one issue I would like to address from ONE LAST SIN and the Sin Trilogy as a whole. A majority of the storyline action and focus from Sinclair’s POV including mob business, revenge, betrayal, violence and retribution takes place ‘behind the scenes’. The reader is excluded and never privy to many details – and in this I felt left out; forgotten; and overlooked. I had a similar issue with the author’s BEAUTY series wherein some of the troubles surfacing for Jack McLaughlin never completely came to the reader’s attention. I understand the romantic focus is on the leading couple, but much of what transpired in the background directly affected the storyline premise and it is the small details that add color and excitement. Most of the violence and graphic imagery is implied and left to the reader’s imagination.

ONE LAST SIN is an entertaining and engaging story; The Sin Trilogy will captivate and delight with its’ charismatic leading hero and the woman that he loves. There are moments of betrayal and revenge; heartbreak and pain; drama and passion wherein family is not always about blood but about the people who love you at the end of the day.

REVIEW: BEAUTY FROM LOVE is the third and final storyline in Georgia Cates contemporary, adult, erotic Beauty series. Written in alternating points of view between our hero Jack Henry and the love of his life (and new wife) Laurelyn Prescott, Beauty From Love takes up at the same moment book 2-Beauty from Surrender –leaves off. Following their whirlwind wedding, our couple leave for their honeymoon to Hawaii where Jack Henry tries to persuade Laurelyn that it is time they started making babies.

The storyline follows Jack Henry and Laurelyn as they sexually christened every surface and every room between their private jet, Hawaiian vacation home and both their penthouse and estate back in Australia. Jack is determined to start a family but Laurelyn wants some time for just the two of them together. But life upon returning home begins to fall apart as Jack Henry’s past continues to resurface-not one but two former companions make claims and accusations and his relationship with Laurelyn begins to shatter with every revelation.

The storyline is sexually graphic, as were the previous instalments. Jack Henry is a man whose need for Laurelyn is as necessary as the air that he breathes-there is no doubt that he is a man in love; possessed by one woman who owns him body and soul. Although Jack Henry’s past is no secret to his new wife, the accompanying fall out will test their love-one day at a time.

The Beauty Series is an emotional journey about two people who met under questionable circumstances-where one man’s needs fall victim to his heart and where one woman is there to catch his fall. Georgia Cates’s final instalment in the Beauty Series wraps up Jack Henry and Laurelyn’s story-with a HEA and a conclusion that is sure to please the romantic in everyone.

REVIEW: BEAUTY FROM PAIN is the first storyline in Georgia Cates’s New Adult Beauty Duet series that focuses on Australian billionaire winemaker Jack McLachlan and American singer Laurelyn Prescott. The Beauty series is yet another storyline following the FSOG/Crossfire phenomenon but-with a twist. Our hero does not want to reveal his true identity-his real name-and the women with whom he gets involved are limited to a three to four week affair. No entanglements, no promises and definitely no personal information. Jack is a man who believes all women are only after one thing-his money-therefore anonymity is his closest friend. What Jack does not bargain for is falling in the love with his latest anonymous partner.

Beauty from Pain is told from two distinct POVs and introduces the usual cast of characters that are similar to the other more famous series: the BFF; the scorned ex lover; a father who has not had any permanent contact with his daughter and much more; but where this particular storyline differs is that our hero comes from a happy, well adjusted family background with no abusive or dark secrets hiding in the past. But Jack’s foray into the flavor of the month club has generated some unwelcome history when one woman refuses to let go.

The relationship between Jack and Laurelyn begins as a mutual attraction that eventually leads to a three month business arrangement where no one is expected to fall in love or discover the true identity of the other person. But a family emergency will pull Laurelyn into Jack’s private life and all bets are off when Jack’s mother sees something between the couple that neither one is able to admit. When the time comes for Laurelyn to return to America, she is heartbroken when the man with whom she has fallen in love is willing to let her leave. The three months have past and it is time for Laurelyn to move on. She was never supposed to fall in love with her temporary boyfriend.

We are privy to some background information regarding Laurelyn’s history-her troubled family life and her most recent relationship with a powerful record producer who wants nothing more than to bring Laurelyn back home. There is the requisite friend who falls in love with a fellow Aussie; and of course another man who is vying for Laurelyn’s attention and love.

If you are a fan of FSOG and like the premise surrounding a contractual relationship that develops into love, than Beauty from Pain is the perfect read. There is forbidden love and the heartbreaking realization that perhaps it was never meant to be. Georgia Cates has found her niche with Beauty from Pain. Book Two-Beauty from Surrender was released May 2013.

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BEAUTY FROM SURRENDER is the second storyline in Georgia Cates’s BEAUTY series focusing on Jack McLachlan and Laurelyn Prescott and continues the story where Beauty from Pain left off.

At the end of Beauty from Pain, Laurelyn’s three month ‘relationship obligation’ with Jack McLachlan had come to an end and she had fallen in love. When Jack refused to acknowledge his feelings or that Laurelyn had stirred any part of his frozen soul, Laurelyn returned to America a little wiser, a littler older and in abject misery and heartbreaking sorrow.

This particular storyline follows Jack as he endeavors to find Laurelyn but when he is unable to locate the woman with whom he had fallen in love, he recognizes the error of his relationship negotiations-without knowing Laurelyn’s true identity and whereabouts, it was going to be virtually impossible to find one woman in a country the size of the USA. Three months later he believes he has found Laurelyn.

Meanwhile, Laurelyn has committed herself to a music contract where her songs reflect the heart ache and pain of losing someone she loves. Every song, every note and every lyric remind Laurelyn of the one man who refused to return her love.

Beauty from Surrender was not as captivating or angst ridden at Beauty from Pain-in fact it felt rushed and less than satisfactory. In the first storyline we knew there was not going to be a HEA and yet we are pulled into the storyline of one man’s spiral into a world he never thought he would experience-to be loved for who you are and not what you own. This particular storyline, once the couple finally reconnected, was mostly filler of sex and romance, and about two people trying to re-establish a connection. There were a few moments where I thought I wanted to reach through the ereader and shake a few heads, but in the end, there is a HEA for two people who deserve love and a forever and ever.

But, where is it written, that only in America can a musician continue a career? Sadly, this is where the storyline fell flat for me. Laurelyn refused to move to Australia where Jack owned several vineyards and businesses saying she had to remain in the USA for her music career. He could NOT up and move the grapes and land to another country, yet it never occurred to our heroine that she could continue her music career in Australia…WTH? **shakes head and walks away**
