ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 11, 2024

A standalone age-gap, dad’s best friend’s hockey romance.
There’s no one more off limits than my best friend’s daughter.

Peggy Aurora Hammerstein. The Toronto Terror’s unofficial team princess. I would never do anything to mess with our team dynamics this late into the hockey season, but seeing her work in the front office changed something for me.

I see her as she is now: a powerful woman with ambition for miles.
When I hold her against me, she fits perfectly.

Her little flirts and taunts push my buttons, if she doesn’t stop–my control just might break.
But I can never cross that line. I can never know what it could be to call her mine.

I’ve never wanted anyone more than Aurora and no one can ever know.

REVIEW:IF YOU HATE ME by Helena Hunting is a stand alone, contemporary adult, erotic, hockey romance story line focusing on professional hockey player Tristan Stiles, and accountant Beatrix ‘Trix/Bea’ Madden.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bea and Tristan) IF YOU HATE ME follows the acrimonious relationship between our story line couple. Tristan Stiles is best friends/roommates and plays for the same team as his best friend Phillip ‘Flip’ Madden, and the arrival of Flip’s sister Beatrix sets off a storm of reactive issues for our story line hero. Beatrix and Flip grew up in a loving albeit a family that struggled to make ends meet, and in this Beatrix was always the third wheel whenever Tristan and Flip were together but the loss of her job, and a pair of contemptible roommates finds Beatrix couch surfing with her brother and Tristan for the forseeable future. As Tristan and Bea’s disdain and hatred for one another hides a barely veiled, palpable sexual attraction, one night together quickly turns into something more but hiding their relationship from Flip is about to implode, and the fall-out pushed Beatrix out of both of their lives. What ensues is the building but defiant and stubborn relationship between Bea and Tristan, and the fall-out when Flip discovers the truth, and Tristan is unable to let go of the ghosts from his past.

The world building introduces some of the players and management, family and friendships, and the ‘forbidden’ relationship between our story line couple. Flip’s questionable $ex life and choices comes into play throughout the entire story, and Bea watches from afar as the man that she loves, slowly spirals out of control.

The relationship between Bea and Tristan is an enemies to lovers: a best friend’s sister/forbidden relationship in which Bea and Tristan hide the truth from Bea’s brother Flip, and the fall-out as a life-long friendship is destroyed through secrets and lies. As Bea and Tristan begin to navigate the possibility of a future, Tristan continues to struggle with the demons from his past. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including teammates and management, extended family and new friendships. We are introduced to Bea’s brother Flip, as well as her best friend Essie.

IF YOU HATE ME is a story of secrets and lies, friendships and betrayal, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is erotic and aggressive; the characters are determined, desperate and broken.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 5, 2023

The untold story of Skye and Sidney, and the origin story where Vi and Miller are teens when their parents start dating and fall in love…

I accidentally grabbed the wrong drink at the coffee shop. On the upside, the hot guy it belonged to chased me down to kindly swap with me. On the down side, the reason I grabbed the wrong drink in the first place is because the hot guy had just caught me checking out his ass…sets.

In my defense, his rear view is rather magnificent.

In true, humiliating form, I word-vomited a bunch of horrible nonsense. Including an unnecessary explanation of the trauma I’d evaded thanks to his chasing me down. Nothing could ruin my lactose-intolerant day faster than my one true dairy.

I did not expect him to ask me out on a date after that.

I also didn’t expect the date to go well since my tendency to truth-vomit is high, and not everyone finds that quality endearing.

But apparently he does. Because he asks me out again.
And again.

Sidney Butterson (yes, it’s a weird last name) ticks all my boxes.
He’s smart, he’s funny, he’s employed and he’s ridiculously hot.
There’s one catch.

We’re both single parents. With teens.

And if our kids don’t like each other?
Well, we’re doomed.

She crooks a finger, beckoning me closer. But there’s only six inches separating us. If I take a step forward, my boots will touch her toes. So I bend instead, until my ear is next to her lips, like I’m waiting for her to tell me a secret.
For a moment I consider the fact that I’ve been up and down the stairs to the loft at least a dozen times. The only air circulation in here is from a portable fan, so I’ve been sweating and shirtless for several hours. I might not smell all that fresh.
But that thought disappears when her fingertips drag along my collarbone and I feel the warmth of her breath at the edge of my jaw.
“Aaron.”
Her palm wraps around the back of my neck. So soft. So warm.
I swallow and grind out, “I’m listening.”
Her thumb finds that spot between my ear and my jaw, and she presses, gently at first and then more firmly. Her lips brush the shell of my ear, and she whispers, “Look at me.”
I feel like a marionette, and she’s pulling all my strings. I turn my head toward her, and her lips brush across my cheek, sending a hot shiver down my spine, lighting me up like a pinball machine.
Teagan Firestone is a dangerous woman. Sweet, beautiful, broken, and yet . . . bold and resilient. She’s a lethal combination, and it’s all compounded when those soft lips meet mine.
I don’t even know what’s happening. Well, I know. I’m kissing her. Or she’s kissing me. She definitely started it.
It’s like an explosion. Like an entire warehouse of firecrackers igniting at the same time. I groan into her mouth and wrap an arm around her waist, pulling her flush against me.
Our tongues tangle, and her other hand grips my biceps, sliding up and over my shoulder. She knocks my hat off my head, and it drops to the floor behind me. And then both of her hands are in my hair, sliding through the damp strands, gripping at the crown, angling my head farther to the side. Deepening the kiss.
Dragging it out.

Weeks together finds our couple dancing around the proverbial ‘elephant in the room’ pushing their relationship from best friends to more but jealousy is about to rear its’ ugly green head, and the fall-out is about to disrupt a life-long friendship, and a growing love between our leading couple. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Avery and Declan, and the potential fall-out as issues of trust force Avery to walk, leaving an angry and heart broken Declan to reconsider everything he lost.

Spark House is struggling to sign up a sponsor, and with it the event side of the hotel is struggling to survive. A series of real-life bloopers and mistakes finds potential sponsors walking away, forcing the Spark to find blame for their loss of income, targeting both Avery and Declan in the line of fire. As Avery battles daily her in recovery, Declan battles between head and heart as he begins to fall for our story line heroine.

The relationship between Declan and Avery is a best friends to lovers that is put to the test when Avery becomes dependant upon Declan for the smallest of tasks. Declan doesn’t do relationships, our hero is a bit of a manwh*re, but his heart wants something more with our story line heroine, something he struggles to accept and understand. Avery knows falling for her best friend places their friendships in a precarious position, a position that is about to be tested with demons from the past. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Avery’s sisters London and Harley, and Declan’s best friends Mark and Jerome. Here’s hoping the author has plans for London and Harley, as well as Mark and Jerome.

WHEN SPARKS FLY is a story of family, friendships, betrayal issues of trust, forgiveness and love. This is NOT a story of cheating or infidelity as some ‘reviewers’ have claimed it to be. Our couple begins as best friends and roommates with neither one making a commitment to one another but jealousy will become the starting point for a crack in the relationship that may not be able to heal. Both Declan and Avery are somewhat immature and selfish but it doesn’t help that their friends and family pick at the scab that refuses to heal. Issues of trust have been a part of Declan for all of his life, and Avery was betrayed by a former love. The premise is engaging, entertaining and captivating; the romance is sexy and hot; the characters are energetic, flawed and playful.
