REVIEW: Yay, one of my favourite authors has another book out. It’s an MMM read and another book to add to her “For Puck’s Sake” series. You don’t need to read book one to get this story. (But it’s my favourite so far, so if you haven’t read “Shiver” and you like this type of book, then go grab it, you won’t be sorry)

Ethan doesn’t hide who he is, and that’s a gay man playing ice hockey. He’s good at his sport. He’s also known in the press as a bit of a player, always with a new man…..
But Ethan has a secret, and if it ever got out…. Well it could be bad news for anyone associated with him…..

But since meeting and playing with his teammate Creed, Ethan hadn’t looked at another man…. He wants Creed, but dating a teammate can get messy and Ethan feels if he lets go then his feelings for Creed could turn into something more!

Creed has crushed and loved his teammate Ethan almost as long as he’s known him. He knows his feelings would be reciprocated, but something is hold Ethan back. He just wants a change at a happiness he never had as a young man. Will Ethan ever love him back?

And the third person in this story …. Jakub. Also a hockey player, and Ethan’s secret husband! He’s the caregiver in this long distance relationship, he loves Ethan with every molecule in his body. He’s also aware of Ethan’s attraction to Creed.

Creed has known about Jakub, and vice versa. Ethan is the center of both their world. But as the book continues, you get the sense that Jakub would spoil and care for Creed as well.

I loved how the three of these wonderful characters held each other up. I liked how vastly different they are, but gel so well when they are together. The chemistry between Ethan and Creed is strong and fierce, between Ethan and Jakub it’s loving and a power exchange. And even between Creed and Jakub there is a tentative relationship growing. I loved how understanding Jakub was with Ethan. A long distance secret relationship couldn’t have been easy on them, but you get the intensity of their love for one another clearly coming across the pages.

Then the sh!t hits the fan!! And the unthinkable happens!! It pops their bubble and has the potential to tear their worlds apart!! Can they really be together, or will the media/family and friends pull them apart?

I loved this story. I also liked the explanation given in this book by the author. it’s a little heavy on the politics of gender and sexuality. But you can see where the author is going, they are her views, and I might not agree with everything, they are still out out there and not rammed down your throat.

I adored Ethan and Creed’s teammates, and hope they all get a story ?

Crea lives in upstate New York with her dog and husband. She has been writing since grade school, when her second grade teacher had her class keep writing journals. She has a habit of creating secondary, and often time tertiary, characters that take over her stories. All of her RH relationships end up being heavily polyamorous – meaning it’s not just all the men for one woman. There’s also some M/M action going on. When she can’t fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center – and utterly swoon-worthy! Don’t ask her how many book boyfriends she has…

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don’t even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping. The relationship between Keira and Bain is a friends with benefits that quickly turns into something more. The entire team has been warned away from our story line heroine but Bain wants Keira, at least for now. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including several member of the Pittsburgh Titans hockey team: Drake and Brienne, Camden and Danica, as well as the introduction of Bain’s mother and father.

BAIN is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; an over-protective brother, an independent sister, and a hockey player who is hoping for something more. The premise is inviting and edgy ; the characters are adventurous, charismatic and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative.

Stevie battles between head and heart having watched the breakup, up close and personal, but a bet over a game of pool finds Stevie agreeing to a dinner together. Meanwhile, Stevie’s absentee mother, a woman who walked away from Stevie when our heroine was a child is about to upend Stevie’s life, pushing Hendrix out of the picture, and into his own spiral. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Stevie and Hendrix, and the potential fall-out as issues of trust force a wedge between our leading couple, a wedge that may be too large for our heroine to over come.

Stevie was raised by her father John ‘Bear’ Kisner, a motorcycle driving, tattoo artist whose overprotective nature threatens anyone who gets close to his only daughter but the past refuses to let go, and Stevie is about to experience the art of deception, first hand, a deception that threatens Stevie’s relationship with our story line hero.

The relationship between Stevie and Hendrix is one of immediate attraction but Stevie doesn’t have time for a relationship, and Hendrix is too ‘pretty’ for our heroine’s father ? . Stevie finds herself quickly falling for the man who is about to destroy her heart, a man who feels betrayed by the woman he loves. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Pittsburgh Titans Hockey club including Stone and Harlow (Stone #2). We are introduced to Stevie’s father John ‘Bear’ Kisner, and her mother, Hendrix’s aunt Rory, and his ex Tracy.

HENDRIX is a heart breaking story of betrayal, lies and greed, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is emotional and entertaining but a little bit predictable; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are desperate, determined, dynamic and captivating.

We are reintroduced to several members of the Chicago Rebels hockey team, as well as coach John Calhoun, Bastian’s half brother Reid and his wife Kennedy; Pepper’s brother Connor Calhoun, and via text Pepper’s ex Kent Gallagher., and Bastian’s father Henri Duranc.

SUPERSTAR is a story of secrets and lies, misunderstanding and judgemental family, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and engaging; the romance is captivating and passionate; the characters are desperate, determined and dynamic.

This is Pittsburgh Titans head coach, thirty-six year old, Cannon West, and twenty-seven year old, barista/PR promoter Ava Cavanaugh’s story line. CANNON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Some of the events of CANNON cross over with, and run parallel to the events of book five Drake.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including several hockey players and their significant others; team owner Brienne Norcross and her boyfriend/ goalie Drake McGinn, as well as both Ava and Cannon’s extended families, and Cannon’s former mother in law Connie.

CANNON is a story of grief and guilt; betrayal and forgiveness; family and friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intoxicating and inspiring ; the characters are animated, dynamic and spirited; the romance is edgy and intimate. If you are a fan of hockey romance, Sawyer Bennett writes some of the best story lines to keep you entertained and addicted.

DRAKE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion, as there is an ongoing premise throughout. The lies and nightmare ended with a divorce and Drake awarded sole custody of all three of his boys, leaving Drake bitter and resentful against the team for which he once played. Fast forward to present day wherein Brienne and the Titans offer Drake a position as first string goalie, but our hero struggles in the wake of past betrayal and lies. Signing with Pittsburgh brings Drake up close and personal with our story line heroine, where they will embark on a secret affair that ends when Drake’s past returns, pushing Brienne out of his life. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Brienne and Drake, as our couple continue to deny their growing feelings, opting to label their relationship nothing more than booty calls and scratching an itch.

Drake and Brienne are determined to keep their affair a secret. Brienne believes their relationship is crossing an invisible line, and Drake refuses to get involved with another woman who could potentially destroy his life. As the weeks pass, their relationship slowly turns into something more but Drake continues to battle between head and heart having loved and lost everything, once before. Most of the previous story line couples and characters return including GM Callum Derringer, and newcomer Cannon West. We are introduced to Drake’s children, as well as his ex-wife Crystal.
