Description:
Who needs mistletoe?
Most people wouldn’t think of a bad Santa case as the perfect Christmas gift. Then again, Molly Malone, office manager at Hunt Investigations, isn’t most people, and she could really use a distraction from the fantasies she’s been having since spending the night with her very secret crush, Lucas Knight. Nothing happened, not that Lucas knows that — but Molly just wants to enjoy being a little naughty for once…
Whiskey and pain meds for almost-healed bullet wounds don’t mix. Lucas needs to remember that next time he’s shot on the job, which may be sooner rather than later if Molly’s brother, Joe, finds out about them. Lucas can’t believe he’s drawing a blank on his (supposedly) passionate tryst with Molly, who’s the hottest, smartest, strongest woman he’s ever known. Strong enough to kick his butt if she discovers he’s been assigned to babysit her on her first case. And hot enough to melt his cold heart this Christmas.
Review:
Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis is the 6th book in her wonderful Heartbreaker Bay series. Having read all the books in this series, I could not wait to get my hands on this one, which I always expect from Jill Shalvis, was fun wonderful read. This book does read very well as a standalone, but why miss out on the earlier wonderful fun heroes/heroines that make this series so much fun; you need to start at the beginning.
Molly Malone, our heroine, is the office manager at Hunt Investigations. Archer (previous hero, and owner of Hunt Investigations) knows Molly’s desire to handle cases, but he has no intention of allowing her to be in any kind of danger. When Molly neighbors approach her about a case of “a bad santa”, who they suspect is hiding money, and not paying them to be elf’s.
Lucas Knight, our hero and an investigator for Hunt, wakes up after a getting drunk the night before to see Molly in bed with him. Lucas doesn’t remember anything, and is concerned that he is in trouble, since Molly is Joe’s (his partner) sister. Nothing happened, but Molly enjoys teasing Lucas about their night together. When Archer finds out that Molly is going to work on helping her neighbors, he enlists Lucas to watch over her. As they begin to work together, Lucas finds himself falling hard for Molly, and Molly already has a huge crush on him. There chemistry together was sizzling, and in a short time, they become friends with benefits. Though they both know their true feelings has nothing to do with friendship, as it has escalated to love for them. Each has their own personal issues that threaten to block their relationship. In the midst of this sweet romance, the case of ‘bad santa’ puts both of them in danger.
What follows is a sweet romance, as well as a very good mystery. There are some dangerous intense situations with both Molly and Lucas along the way. What makes this even better, are their friends, whom we have come to love over the previous 5 books .
Lucas and Molly was a great couple, very hot together; lots of fun to watch them falling hard for each other. As I have said before, Heartbreaker Bay is a great series to enjoy, and I suggest you start with the first book. Hot Winter Nights was a fun, exciting, sexy, enjoyable read, with an outstanding cast of characters and a bit of mystery. If you love romance, humor, friendships, a sexy couple, and are not reading Jill Shalvis, it is time for you to do so.

It’d been two weeks since he’d gotten caught in some crossfire on the job and he hadn’t yet been cleared for more than light duty – something he’d obviously managed to ignore last night given that he was palming a nice, warm, feminine ass.
Think, man.
Straining his brain, he remembered taking a pain med before going to O’Riley’s Pub to meet up with some friends. A client had been there, someone he’d recently helped save from a multi-million dollar corporate espionage. The guy had ordered shots to toast to Lucas and … shit. Knowing better than to mix pain meds and alcohol, he’d hesitated, but everyone had been waiting on him, glasses hoisted in the air. Thinking just one shot couldn’t hurt anything, he’d knocked back the drink.
Clearly, he’d been wrong and it’d been enough to mess him up big time, something he hadn’t been in years, not since his brother Josh had been killed. Shoving that away for another time – or never — Lucas cracked open one eye, but when his retina was stabbed by a streak of sunlight glaring in through the window, he immediately slammed it shut it again. Taking a deep breath, he told himself to suck it up and opened both eyes this time, learning two additional facts.
He was naked and completely uncovered.
And the woman snugged up at his side was rolled up in his comforter like a burrito.
What. The. Hell.
