She spent her life running from monsters. But the most dangerous one was always behind her.
Leo Grimm has always lived for the chase—whether in the boardroom, the bedroom, or in the secrets buried beneath his family’s name. Ruthless and relentless, he’s never lost a hunt. Except once.
Ruby Ryder was the one obsession he couldn’t shake, the one woman who slipped from his grasp. Now, she’s back—terrified, desperate, and hunted by an enemy she can’t outrun. And this time, Leo isn’t letting her go.
He’ll protect her… for a price. Her trust. Her surrender. Her heart.
But the closer Ruby gets to Leo, the more she realizes the real danger isn’t the one chasing her—it’s the man who almost caught her before. The man who left scars that never healed. The man whose family destroyed hers.
In the wolf’s deadly embrace, Ruby discovers the ultimate seduction of surrender… as well as its all-consuming terror. Because once the wolf sinks his teeth in, he won’t just own her body—he’ll consume her soul.

REVIEW: THE WOLF is the second instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult BILLIONAIRE BROTHERS GRIMM erotic, romance series focusing on the Grimm Brothers, very loosely based on fairy tale characters and stories. This is billionaire businessman Leo Grimm, and twenty-eight year old marketing executive Ruby Ryder’s story line. THE WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion. Ruby and Leo were first introduced in book one THE TOWER.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from first person (Ruby) and third person (Leo) THE WOLF focuses on the protection of our story line heroine. Approximately seven years earlier, Leo Grimm destroyed his college sweetheart Ruby Ryder, leaving behind a woman with a broken heart and a need for revenge. Fast forward to present day, someone is targeting our story line heroine, and Leo is determined to protect the woman he never stopped loving but Ruby wants nothing to do with Leo Grimm, or his need to protect, and in this, Ruby is about to make Leo’s life miserable as he encounters backlash at every stand. Desperate to uncover the who, how and why of the threats against Ruby, Leo and his brother begin a deep dive, and uncover a familiar name with a connection to the past.
The world building follows Ruby as she refuses to listen to reason, while Leo desperately struggles to reveal the truth. The past has come full circle, and in this, a plan is set into motion to draw out the person taking aim at our story line couple.
The relationship between Leo and Ruby is one of second chances; a tempestuous rekindling romance in which Ruby refuses to accept Leo’s apology for the sins of the past, preferring to make Leo’s life wretched, and miserable as he faces the wrath of the woman he loves. Often TSTL, refusing to believe anything Leo says, Ruby is belligerent, annoying, aggressively over the top and mostly combative. Her need to spout vicious accusations is disturbing and troublesome, yet Leo’s need to protect is obsessive. The numerous $ex scenes are erotic and intense. The word ‘hate’ is used 109 times.
The secondary and supporting characters include Leo’s brother Liam and his girlfriend Sasha, as well as Ruby’s ‘Granny’.
THE WOLF is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is dark, tragic and startling but the repetitive nature of much of the story line, inconsistencies and speedy conflict resolution is disappointing. The characters are dramatic and desperate; the romance is provocative and steamy.
