RISK EVERYTHING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Bree and Tanner) RISK EVERYTHING focuses on the weeks before Bree Daniels and Deputy Tanner Dempsey wedding. Hoping against hope to elope, Bree finds herself the center of attention, attention she would rather place on someone else. As the big day approaches one of the women (Marilyn) at Bree’s New Journeys’ women’s shelter discovers that her soon to be ex has been released on bail, and a suspicious fire at the shelter points to the possibility that Marilyn and her children’s whereabouts have been found. Keeping a promise to Marilyn’s children (Eva and Sam), Bree and Tanner, along with Tanner’s brother Noah, escort the mother and her children for a few days of camping, camping that places everyone in the direct line of fire. With the children’s safety a primary concern, our leading couple, find themselves the target of some very dangerous men.

RISK EVERYTHING is a story of vengeance and betrayal; of power and control; of love, loss and happily ever after. Janie Crouch pulls the reader into a fast paced, suspense filled tale of one man’s need for retribution as Bree and Tanner try desperately to keep everyone safe. The premise is engaging; the characters are colorful and charismatic; the romance continues towards a happily ever after. My only concern is the questionable decision to move forward with a camping trip when threats to everyone’s lives are still in place-a little bit TSTL.

He needs answers, but they’re nowhere to be found.

What he definitely doesn’t need is to fall hard for his Linear teammate’s younger sister, Jacquelyn—the adorable linguistics doctoral student who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Especially when Heath’s attention puts her directly in the path of a danger he thought was gone for good. To stop it, they’ll have to figure out what’s in his head. And hope it doesn’t destroy them all

••••••••••

REVIEW:  SHADOW is the sixth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former Special Forces soldiers who own and operate Linear Tactical, an Oak Creek, Wyoming business specializing in survival skills, security and protection. This is Heath ‘Shadow’ Kavanaugh, and linguistics specialist Jacquelyn ‘Lyn Norris’ Zimmerman’s story line. SHADOW can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout. There is a slight cross-over with the inclusion of characters from the author’s BREE AND TANNER romantic suspense series.

Told from several third person perspectives including Lyn and Heath SHADOW follows the search for a mole in the biomedical engineering department at Wyoming Commonwealth University. Heath Kavanaugh’s latest assignment comes from the FBI as they hunt for the person(s) responsible for ‘selling’ secrets about the latest government projects but Heath finds himself attracted to PhD undergrad Lyn Norris who will find herself targeted for something she knows nothing about. What ensues is the building relationship between Shadow and Lyn, and the potential fall-out as secrets are revealed, the past comes full circle, and our heroine finds herself in a precarious position when her life hangs in the balance as she struggles to uncover a secret code known to very few.

Heath Kavanaugh was once a part of an unsanctioned government project that resulted in the death and destruction of people he knew. With the continuous messages filtering through his mind, Heath knows that whatever brainwashing experiment was used on his brain is about to come unglued with recent discoveries. Lyn Norris struggles with a life-threatening illness but that hasn’t stopped our heroine from going for what she wants. Battling issues of self-image and low self esteem, Lyn becomes suspicious when Heath begins a slow seduction in an effort to uncover the truth.

The relationship between Lyn and Heath is one of immediate attraction. Heath is unaware of Lyn’s true identity, and her relationship to people Heath already knows. Lyn finds herself on the outside looking in when Heath’s ‘cover’ is blown in an effort to protect Lyn from further harm. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples and Linear Tactical agents, as well as Tanner Dempsey from the author’s Bree and Tanner series.. We are introduced to Lyn’s University co-workers and fellow professors; the requisite evil has many faces.

NOTE: Some of the events in ANGEL run parallel to, and cross over with some of the events in book three-SHAMROCK.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jordan and Gabriel) ANGEL follows the acrimonious relationship between twenty-three year old Jordan Reiss, and thirty-two year old former Navy SEAL and owner of Collingwood Technology Gabriel ‘Angel’ Collingwood. Eight years earlier Jordan’s world imploded when her sole surviving parent, Michael Reiss, scammed the town of Oak Creek Wyoming out of their retirement savings. Two years later, working several jobs to stay afloat our heroine is sentenced to six years for the death of a mother and child caused when she fell asleep at the wheel of her car. Fast forward to present day wherein Jordan returns to Oak Creek, Wyoming in an attempt to start over. Jordan, now persona non grata and the town pariah becomes the target of many twisted and unforgiving minds including former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood, who is desperate to protect his sister, the woman who hired Jordan at the local bakery shop. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jordan and Gabriel, and the fall-out as issues of trust, betrayal, lies and secrets continue to send Jordan’s life spiralling out of control.

All Jordan Reiss wants is to be left alone; to earn a little money to clothe and feed herself but the town of Oak Creek, Wyoming refuses to leave our heroine alone. From her father’s illegal scams that destroyed the small town, to the accident that killed a mother and child, Jordan is unable to forgive herself, or forget about the past. Falling for Gabriel Collingwood gave Jordan a hope for the future but like most of the townsfolk Gabriel struggles to look beyond the past.

The relationship between Gabriel and Jordan struggles in the face of preconceived notions, and Jordan’s history in Oak Creek, Wyoming. No longer a prisoner, yet still a prisoner, none the less, Jordan hides in plain sight as she continues to be the target of people looking for revenge, as well as the man with whom she will fall in love. Told from dual third person perspectives (Charlie and Finn) EAGLE follows the second chance romance between Special Forces Green Beret / single father Finn ‘Eagle’ Bollinger, and special education teacher Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Devereux. Eight years earlier Finn Bollinger’s life imploded when the woman he loved married another man, shattering his heart and any chance for a happily ever after. Fast forward to present day Finn, now a single father to young boy struggling with learning disabilities comes face to face with his past in the form of his son’s special education teacher Charlotte Devereux. Betrayal and hatred hang heavy between our leading couple until Finn is forced to accept that Charlie is his son Evan’s best chance at reading success. What ensues is the rebuilding and rekindling romance between Charlie and Finn, and the fall-out as Charlie is targeted when she is witness to a secret meeting of some very powerful men at a bar known as The Lion’s Den.

Charlotte Devereux has never stopped loving Finn Bollinger but life has changed drastically for the former ‘princess’ of Oak Creek, Wyoming. Secrets, lies and a struggle to survive force Charlotte to hide in plain sight until Finn uncovers the truth about Charlotte’s current living situation and life. Finn Bollinger’s hatred for Charlotte continued to grow but seeing his former lover pushed all thoughts of retribution aside when he discovers that not all is as it appears to be. Working three jobs to keep her head above the proverbial water Charlotte will find herself unable to move forward without revealing the past.

The relationship between Charlotte and Finn is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people whose lives were destroyed by secrets and lies. Finn’s spiral out of control would come back with a vengeance forcing our hero to step up and take responsibility when he least expected. Charlotte never expected to return to Oak Creek, Wyoming but circumstances forced our heroine into a lifestyle she knew nothing about. Trapped between head and heart, Charlotte’s attraction to Finn had never waivered in the face of her own betrayal and lies. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Finn’s seven year old son Evan, his best friend Jess and her mother Peyton ; Zac Mackay and Annie (Cyclone #1); Linear Tactical warriors Aiden Teague, Henry Nicholson, Dorian Lindstrom and UA Major Mark Pinnnock; Finn’s sister and local waitress Waverly ‘Wavy’ Bollinger, Sheriffs Curtis Nelson, as well as Finn’s mother and bar waitress Jordan Reiss. The requisite evil has many faces.

EAGLE is a fast paced, action packed story of romance and suspense. The premise is intriguing and entertaining; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are charismatic, determined and strong. Janie Crouch pulls the reader into a raw and dynamic tale of second chances, betrayal and fate.
