REVIEW:HAUNTED REAL ESTATE : WHERE’S GARY is the first instalment in JC Valentine’s contemporary, adult HAUNTED REAL ESTATE cozy mystery series focusing on assistant editor Claire Montgomery, and handyman Jed Sprague..

Told from first person perspective (Claire) HAUNTED REAL ESTATE: WHERE’S GARY follows assistant editor Claire Montgomery and her journey to Pennsylvania, where she is about to rehab an old house, left to her by her late aunt Edna but Claire never expected to walk into a money pit, or find herself in the middle of a what every one believed to be a haunted house. Meeting her closest neighbor Jed Sprague, gives Claire some added incentive and courage but neither one expected to witness the unbelievable, or what they would find after in the process of cleaning up.

HAUNTED REAL ESTATE is a quick read; a novella length story that introduces Claire Montgomery and the man with whom she will fall in love, townie Jed Sprague. For years, stories surrounded the possibility of ghosts inhabiting her aunt’s old home, and a library research would reveal a heart breaking and sad story behind the original owners. The premise is simple and easy; the characters are delightful; the romance is implied.

My feet halted as my eyes caught a flash of movement on the stairs. Just a shadow, there and gone in a blink, disappearing beyond the banister before my mind could register what it had seen.
Quickly, I pushed my senses out, eyes and ears scanning for anything out of place. There was no creak of the stairs, no sound of movement beyond the occasional swish of bathwater. To the untrained ears and eyes, one would assume we were alone.
But I knew better. My sixth sense was telling me I wasn’t mistaken. I’d seen something. Before I could start calling myself crazy again, I decided enough was enough. It was time to investigate.
“There are no ghosts, Claire,” I reminded myself as I dug my phone out of my back pocket and located the flashlight mode, sending a blinding beam of light shooting across the floor.
Marching across the first floor to the foot of the stairs, I peered up the tall staircase, listening. Again, I was met with the same basic sounds. My heart was thudding harder than usual, my breath coming a little faster than I’d like, exposing my climbing nerves.
“Freaking Gary,” I said aloud, a reminder as much as a reassurance that ghosts didn’t exist and I was being ridiculous. It was obvious the only thing going on around here was the invasion of a mischievous feline. Nothing more.
“Come out, come out, wherever you are…” I hummed as I began climbing the stairs. They creaked under every foot, no matter how careful I tried to be. Yeah, there was no way a human could have traversed them without announcing to all and sundry their presence. “Mew, mew, mew, mew, mew.”
Yep, it was final. I was an idiot. Not exactly an animal person, I had no clue what I was doing. Did that even work on cats? I’d seen it while watching one of my favorite Ben Stiller movies and it made sense. Cats weren’t exactly complicated creatures. Offer a little treat and they came running.
Which reminded me I needed to put out some tuna.
So why the hell was I pursuing this thing when I could put forth far less effort and let it come to me?
Right, boredom. Almost forgot about that.
Continuing my assent, my foot crested the top stair when I heard the distinctive moaning creak of a door closing. My eyes and ears working together immediately honed in on the target: the largest of three bedrooms to my immediate right.
I wasn’t prepared for what I saw.
The tall shadow standing in the thin gap of the partially opened doorway stared back at me, no discernable features or detail that I could make out, yet I knew, beyond a doubt, that it was watching me…and it didn’t feel friendly.
In fact, the sheer terror that exploded through my veins forced out a shocked gasp followed by a screech that I’d never heard come out of my own mouth.
Time seemed to stand still as I watched the door begin to eek open, that terrifying sound of the dry hinges scraping against every nerve ending like nails down a chalkboard, working on my psyche to the point of hysteria.
“Claire? What’s wrong?” I heard Jed’s voice from a distance, almost as if I stood in a vacuum, engaged in a silent showdown with what I could no longer deny was an otherworldly figure that I was certain was out to harm me.
But why? What made me the target? Why not Jed? He was a man. Us women had to stick together. Besides, I was only here for a short time. Just long enough to get the house back in top form and then I’d be outta here.
Maybe Mrs. Moore wants everything to stay exactly how she left it…
“Claire?”
My head whipped around, panicked gaze landing on Jed’s tall, lithe form, still glistening with moisture from his bath. The towel wrapped around his waist—a white, fluffy one I’d bought at the general store—barely hiding his naughty bits, the split gaping open around his thigh teasing at the hidden treasures beneath as it flapped open and closed with every hurried step he took.
“I—I—” Clearly, my voice had abandoned me, making me stutter like a fool. So I resorted to signalling instead, pointing out the problem.
Jed’s worried frown followed my finger to the doorway, and in an instant, the color in his face washed away. “Holy—”
The sudden slam of the bedroom door shook the plaster walls, ripping another scream from my lips. Nerves jarred, it happened all at once in a domino effect: I reached for the banister cap as my legs turned to rubber noodles and I lost my footing. Jed leaped into action, lunging forward with his arms outstretched to catch me. His towel broke free from his hips, floating to the floor, leaving his dangly bits free to dance at will. The stairs, thankfully, broke my fall.
All twenty-two of them.
As I bounced and tumbled my way back to the first floor, I couldn’t help but wonder…would Jed kiss my boo-boos and make it all better, or was this the final nail in the coffin, so to speak?
Guess we’d find out…after I regained consciousness.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 26, 2019

Sabrina Colloway was perfectly happy running her father’s business and bailing out the competition. Until one deal changed everything. Caught up in a complicated relationship had never been the plan. Hell, it hadn’t even been on her radar. Not to mention, shacking up with three of the company’s most eligible bachelors is just asking for trouble…especially when they’re brothers. But nothing risked is nothing gained, and Sabrina is about to embark on a whirlwind romance of the ages.

All good things must come to an end…

A woman at the top of the corporate food chain is controversial enough. If Sabrina’s secret romance with the Hargreaves brothers comes out, not only will she damage her glowing reputation with her father, the man she’s looked up to and emulated since childhood, she’ll destroy the very thing he worked his life to achieve. So when rumor has it that she’s been having a little extra fun on the side, Sabrina reaches the only logical conclusion: there’s a snitch in her camp—or three. Will she be able to prove that her newfound lovers are loyal to her, or will she discover that four’s a crowd?

•••••••••

REVIEW: INDECENT PROPOSAL by JC Valentine is a contemporary, adult, reverse harem, erotic, romance story line focusing on business executives Sabrina Colloway, and the Hargreaves brothers: Conner, William and Oliver.

Told from third person perspective (Sabrina Colloway) INDECENT PROPOSAL focuses on the merger and new partnership between Colloway Corporation and the struggling Hargreaves Direct, as well as the merger between Sabrina Colloway, and the Hargreaves brothers. A night out with friends finds Sabrina Colloway face to face with her future in the guise of Conner, William and Oliver, three men she considers her subordinates but three men with whom she will fall in love.

As mergers go, Sabrina Colloway believes she has the upper hand in both business and her personal life but Sabrina struggles with the proposal the Hargreaves brothers offer in return-a monogamous relationship with all three brothers, a relationship wherein Sabrina battles between head and heart. But when information comes to light, Sabrina runs, pushing the Hargreaves brothers out of her life. What ensues is the building but struggling relationship between Sabrina, and William, Conner and Oliver, and the fall-out as secrets and lies revealed destroy the growing love Sabrina feels for her men.

The relationship between Sabrina and the Hargreaves brothers is one of immediate attraction but Sabrina is warned, several times, about their reputations with women. Unable to accept the merger as a partnership, Sabrina continues to try and control both the business and personal side of her life. Struggling to trust the men with whom she will fall in love, Sabrina is acutely aware that their unconventional relationship may burn them in the end. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a small ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Sabrina’s best friend Janet; her PA Shawna; her father Jonathan Colloway, and William, Conner and Oliver’s father Charles Hargreaves.

INDECENT PROPOSAL is a story of family, betrayal, business and love. The premise is engaging; the romance is spicy and hot; the characters are flirty but we learn very little about their lives prior to the business merger-I was hoping for a little more background and a richer development of the four main characters

Conner was waiting for her on the sidewalk, and he held out his hand as she approached. A sudden bout of nerves attacked her stomach as she accepted his offer and slipped her hand into his. With that self-assuredness she was quickly growing accustomed to, he led her inside the building to the bank of waiting elevators that would carry her to her loft.
But he didn’t leave her there. “Eight, right?” he asked as they stepped inside and he pressed the button for her floor. She merely nodded.
This was so unlike her, being so quiet and allowing the man to take the lead. Sabrina was used to being the dominate one, but something about Conner quieted that need in her to be at the helm. All night, she kept catching herself falling back and deferring to him. And she couldn’t seem to find a reason to hate it as much as she told herself she should.
It felt…good.
She couldn’t remember the last time she shut her mind off and allowed someone to take care of her, which was what he was doing. Conner and his brothers had seen to her safety, and now Conner was personally finishing it.
When the elevator rolled to a stop, the doors parted and they stepped out together. Sabrina took over and pulled her keys from her clutch as they approached the only door on that floor.
“This is me,” she stated the obvious.
“Here, allow me.” Plucking the keys from her hand, Conner inserted the correct key on the first try, as if he’d done it a hundred times before, and opened the way for her.
Battling with her uncharacteristic nerves and what she knew was right versus what she wanted, Sabrina edged past him into her apartment. Setting her clutch down on the waiting sideboard, she stepped out of her high heels and turned to see Conner standing in the doorway, his gaze traveling over the ordinary Victorian prints on the walls and simple furniture she’d handpicked from numerous flea markets and antique malls over the years. Everything was old and eclectic, and a world away from what she’d bet he was used to—sophisticated and expensive.
Feeling her eyes on him, Conner’s eyes met hers. He didn’t look unsure of himself. Just…patient. As if waiting for the invitation he hoped would come. Standing there like that, he looked strong and sexy and she was reminded of how his body felt rubbing up against hers at the club, how his hands felt on her hips…and that kiss. Wow. She could still taste him on her lips… That one kiss hadn’t been nearly enough to whet her appetite, and the throbbing need in her core hadn’t disappeared but merely dulled during the ride over. Now it was growing again, rapidly, and the longer he stood there staring at her, the worse it became.
“You should stay,” Sabrina blurted. When he just stared her down, she realized how easy she must appear to a man like him and suddenly felt embarrassed. Looking away, she tried to play it off. “Or not. I know your brothers are waiting for you—”
He was on her in a flash, catching her words on a kiss that took her by surprise. Sabrina gasped, then melted into his arms as he pulled her into him and devoured her mouth as if he’d been waiting all night and couldn’t stand to let another second pass.

REVIEW:

DEADLY DECEPTION by J. C. Valentine is a stand alone, thriller focusing on frustrated housewife Faith Overmeyer, her long suffering husband Glenn, and assassin for hire Declan.

Faith is tired of her husband’s late night excursions and the couple’s seemingly lacklustre married life at home. In an effort to end their marriage by ending her husband’s life, Faith hires a hit man. Enter Declan, assassin for hire, and the man Faith seduces after the job is done. Feeling sorry for his target’s wife, Declan sympathizes with Faith and breaks all of his rules in an effort for something more.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Faith and Declan) DEADLY DECEPTION is a story of secrets, lies, betrayal and revenge. A twisted tale of murder and greed where not one but two people will lose their lives.

If this is the hitman, I’m in trouble. My God, he’s gorgeous. Tall, around six feet, dark-brown hair that’s just long enough to curl around his ears and is full of soft waves that immediately spark my envy, and a body that, although hidden beneath well-fitting black jeans and a navy cashmere sweater with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows, projects strength and vitality.
I’m momentarily struck stupid, standing with one foot inside the car and one out, staring at him. Until he clears his throat and I lift my gaze, falling into a pair of piercing black eyes that are filled with disapproval.
“Right on time, Mrs.…”
The reason I’m here hits me suddenly, and I feel the nervous energy that I’ve been attempting to repress all day return. Stepping fully out of the car, I close the door softly and stand there beside it, twisting my hands. “I, um, would rather not give my name.”
He nods. “That’s wise. However, we’ll need to call each other something. An alias. You can call me…Cal.”
Cal. This gets me wondering what his real name is. He looks like a Cal, I guess. I bite my lip, turning over different names in my mind and finding them all too common. “Brenda,” I finally settle on because we can’t stand here all night debating over names when we have real business to discuss.
Standing under a bridge is conspicuous as hell, and I’d die a thousand deaths if we got caught. It might be a brazen move, hiring someone to commit murder, but I’m hardly a seasoned pro. This is all new territory for me. I don’t know the first thing about any of this. Only that I don’t want to get caught.
Yeah, I should have given that more consideration before contacting this guy, but desperate times call for desperate measures. And I am, by the very definition, a desperate housewife.
“Okay, Brenda,” Cal starts, his feet carrying him closer. “Did you bring the coffee?”
“Yes,” I say eagerly, reaching for the driver’s door handle. “I’ll get it.”
“No. Let’s get in the car first. If anyone happens to come knocking, it’ll be easier to explain why we’re here if we’re together.”
I pause, wondering at his meaning before a picture of the two of us tangled in each other’s arms, his hand up my shirt and mine caught up in all of that luxurious hair enters my mind. I shiver with desire but quickly shake it off. I can’t think of him that way when what we’re here for is far from any kind of romance.

Chapter One
How did I get talked into this? Looking back, I know exactly where things went sideways. I should have skipped that last mimosa.
It started with Roberta’s retirement party. She wasn’t exactly the likable sort—kind of stodgy, rigid. But she was also like everyone’s grandmother, which is why everyone tolerated her. That and she made an amazing pineapple upside-down cake that made everyone look forward to the monthly potluck.
I would miss those cakes, but Roberta was eloping with some Polynesian guy she’d met in one of those outdoor yoga sessions, and apparently, it was love at first downward dog.
So yeah…
Seventy-year-old Roberta found love, and here I am, thirty-four, single as a Pringle, and not a prospect in sight. Hence the drinking. And also why I’m standing here in front of the storage closet while Travis rummages through dusty old boxes to find the Santa outfit I somehow got roped into wearing.
I am severely displeased.
The first thing I did when I arrived at the office this morning while nursing a hangover was tried to get out of it. Travis wouldn’t hear of it. Apparently, every year they get some poor schmuck to agree to dress up and play Santa to the kids down at the children’s hospital, and it usually falls to the newest member of the team.
Since I was hired in just after the New Year, that poor, unsuspecting fool happens to be me.
Plus, I’m the only one, supposedly, who doesn’t have out-of-town plans. I’m “it” by default on more than one level.
Lucky me.
“Found it!”
I snap to attention as Travis climbs over boxes on his way over to me, holding a mass of red fabric over his head like a trophy.
I groan, depressed at the thought of having to put that thing on. I can already smell the mothballs. “Just what I need to make it look like I put on an extra fifty pounds instead of ten.” It’s a holiday tradition, eating cookies and fudge and pies. My sweet tooth cannot be denied, so every year I pack on a little extra insulation to get me through the cold winter months.
Travis gives me a flirty smile and wink as he hands over what I now realize is a lot less red than I’d originally thought. “You’ll look anything but fat in this, trust me.”
The way he said that makes me completely distrustful of him. Narrowing my eyes, I reluctantly accept the offering, shaking it out as I say suspiciously, “What is that supposed to me—oh…”
This is not the Santa suit I’d expected. It’s…well… “I think you went to the wrong costume shop, little buddy,” I say sarcastically, because this has to be a joke. “I think you need to go back in there and find the rest of it.”
Travis’s smile is positively wicked now. “That is the rest of it.”
My eyes widen, and I look at it again. “Where did you find this thing, Strippers R Us? I can’t wear this!”
Like the asshole big-brother-type that he is, Travis playfully pokes the end of my nose. “You sure can, hon, and you’ll do it with a smile on your face and merry little laugh, too.” Closing up the closet, he locks it back up and brushes by me. “Make sure you dry-clean that thing before you put it on. It’s been around the block a few times.”
His mockingly jolly laugh makes me want to sprint after him, tackle him to the floor and jab my elbow into his ribs a few times. But as much as we were all family, office violence was just as frowned upon by human resources as workplace romances.
I’d just have to find my revenge another way. Until I did, it looked as though I was cursed to play Mrs. Santa.

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon. au / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / iTunes

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 30, 2018

The cosmically designed conclusion to the Spartan Riders series.

They’ve been through hell and back and have the scars to prove it.

Kade “Moose” Hunter doesn’t tolerate drama. He’s cocky, unapologetic, and all about the quiet side of life.

That’s why Mouse fits him so well.

Angel “Mouse” Grace isn’t like the other women hanging around the club. She’s sweet and gentle, and when Moose gets her engines revving, her passion burns bright. She’s the yin to his yang, and Moose is almost certain she’s the one, but life is never that easy for a Spartan.

The catch? Their town is falling apart. A cesspool of crime and addiction, the Spartans face yet another challenge: confront crime lord Manuel Contreras and risk war, or worse, death. When Angel’s kid sister rolls into town and takes a shine to the Spartan’s mortal enemy, Moose is torn between doing what’s best for his family…and what’s best for his love life.

Will he be able to strike a balance, or lose everyone he cares about in the process?

••••••••••

REVIEW: COCKY is the fifth and final instalment in JC Valentine’s contemporary, adult SPARTAN RIDERS MC erotic, MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Spartan Riders MC. This is Kade “Moose” Hunter, and Angel “Mouse” Grace’s story line but also focuses on several other relationships including Angel’s sister Rena, and her affair with crime lord Manuel Contreras.

Told from several third person perspectives including Kade and Angel, COCKY is an ensemble story line that follows the set up and take down of the Cruiz Cartel, currently headed by crime lord Manuel Contreras. While Club enforcer Kade Hunter battles his affections for Angel Grace, her sister Rena struggles with her past, a struggle that now involves the man with whom she is falling in love. As the Spartan Riders affect a deal with the Cruiz Cartel, the FBI sit in wait to take down the man ultimately in charge.

Kade ‘Moose’ Hunter never thought he would fall in love or settle for one woman but meeting Angel Grace, a night club waitress, found our hero making plans for the future including the possibility of claiming ownership of the woman he calls ‘Mouse. Angel Grace is a strong willed, independent heroine who knows a thing or two about struggling to survive. She is no-one’s property including the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

COCKY follows several intersecting paths that reveal the connections, relationships and blood lines between the Spartan Riders MC, the FBI and the Cruiz Cartel. Most of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles. The premise is revealing ; the romance is passionate and intense; the characters are colorful and engaging. My only issue is with the quick resolution to the conflict(s) where most of the intimate details are never revealed, behind the scenes, and left to the reader’s imagination. The SPARTAN RIDERS MC series is a lighter look at a fictional MC, an MC whose membership believes in love and a happily ever after.

“What are you doing over there anyway?” Country asked Moose. “You’ve been all contemplative looking since that little girl walked out of here earlier. You got the feels or somethin’?”
Moose curled his lip and shifted to reach his phone tucked in his butt pocket. “Ain’t no feels involved, unless you’re talkin’ about the physical kind.” He waggled his eyebrows. “Then I got a whole lotta ‘em, if you know what I mean.”
Country glanced around at the rest of the brothers, including them in the conversation. “Moose has been sporting some serious wood lately. I can’t even walk into a room without feeling violated.”
“Gotta be the girl, then,” Taco said, then tipped his head back to drink his beer, his playful gaze still set on Moose.
Moose raised his hand and slowly lifted his middle finger. “Ya’ll just mind your business. What I do or don’t do with my dick is private.”
“Not when it’s waving hello to everyone,” Quick chimed in, then plucked a ball into one of the plastic cups.
“No fuckin’ way!” Country shouted. “I swear, you’re cheating! No one drinks as much as you have tonight and keeps winning.”
Quick shrugged. “Don’t hate the player. Hate the game. Now shut your yap and drink up, brother.”
Grumbling, Country got down to it.
Moose checked the time on his phone. It was well after midnight, and he was remembering how he’d told Mouse he’d be by later. It was probably well past “later” in her book, but he was just getting the night started.
He considered shooting off a quick text, maybe calling her to tell her to get ready for him, but then he figured why bother? If she wanted him like he thought she did, then she should be ready for him any hour of the day or night.
“Any of you bastards feel like driving me somewhere?”
“Business or pleasure?” Taco asked.
“Definitely pleasure.”
Taco vacated his fold-out chair as Moose lumbered to his feet. Slinging on his leather jacket, Taco jerked his head to the side. “I gotta head home anyway. I’ll give ya a lift.”
“Aw, you guys are seriously ditching us? The night is still young!” Country shouted.
Moose ignored the uttered complaints and fell into step behind Taco as they headed for the side door. “You assholes can crash inside if you need to. But ya’ll better make sure to clean this shit up before you leave.”
“Yes, Mommy,” he heard as he stepped out into the night. He didn’t need to look back to know what jerk-off had said it. The southern accent tipped him off just fine.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 24, 2018

Being granted a second chance at life and a first time at love was every man’s dream, but for Ace it came with a price.

Ace
By all rights, he should be dead. Serving ten years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit had affected him in ways he couldn’t begin to understand. He’d rolled out of the slammer and into a revenge plot that almost got him killed. By the grace of God, when he’d hit rock bottom, one person reached out a helping hand.

A beautiful redhead with a penchant for mischief took a shine to him and then disappeared, leaving behind only her number scribbled recklessly on his arm. Assuming he can make out all the numbers, he just might have a chance at something amazing.

Barbara
Finally divorcing her narcissistic husband was the best choice Barbara ever made. After living under his control for seven long years, she might have gone a little wild for a minute, what with jumping the hot biker and all. None of that mattered, though, because today was the day she got herself back on track.

After being given the opportunity to excavate a small cache of fossils in a remote area, Barbara is horrified to discover she’s inadvertently led a small team of her archaeology students into danger. When they stumble on a secret dumping site of a vicious serial killer, Ace, the big, handsome biker takes charge. But she may have gotten herself and her students into more danger than even he can handle.

REVIEW: ACE OF HEARTS is the third installment in J. C. Valentine’s contemporary, adult ACE OF HEARTS erotic, MC romance series. This is MC member Jeremy ‘Ace’ Strong, and archaeology professor Dr. Barbara Reynolds’ story line. ACE OF HEARTS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some issues for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Ace and Barbara) ACE OF HEARTS follows the building relationship between MC member Jeremy ‘Ace’ Strond, and archaeology professor Dr. Barbara Reynolds. Months earlier, visiting her friend Dr. Lynn Snyder at the local ER, Professor Barbara Reynolds found herself face to face with a scarred, tattooed, sexy biker who had been shot in an encounter with a rival MC. Enter Jeremy ‘Ace’ Strond, the man who would turn Barbara’s world upside down. Unable to forget the woman he met, Ace goes in search of our story line heroine only to find himself registered to take one of her archaeology classes in order to get closer to the woman that stole his heart. A field trip to excavate fossils found more than just the petrified remains of animals and bugs, but a dump site for a number of bodies linked to a local gang. What ensues is the building relationship between Ace and Barbara, and the threats and violence against the members of the excavation team who are caught up in a war, not of their making.

Ace struggles with finding his place amongst the Blind Jacks MC after serving ten years for a crime he did not commit. Ever vigilant against the possible repercussions of his time served, Ace finds himself the odd-man out whenever the Blind Jacks must deal with law enforcement, and rival gangs. Barbara Reynolds is recently divorced but that hasn’t stopped her former husband from pushing the boundaries of their non-relationship, With Ace the new man in her life, Barbara discovers just how far her ex is willing to go to get her back.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Sargent-At-Arms Ryder Staunton, and registered nurse Tiffany Stone,
Blind Jacks’ president Darwin ‘Darkness’ Dawson, prospect Cork and his younger brother IT expert Peb, Hickory, Tank, and club wh*re Alyssa; Tiffany’s ex Stuart Chamberlain, Ryder’s parents Ven and Lily, as well as Ryder’s younger sister Rose, an assortment of Blind Jacks members and wanna-be’s, and a number of students who signed up for the archaeological dig. The requisite evil has many faces including Barbara’s ex-husband David Reynolds, the Seven-six and Outlanders MC.

ACE OF HEARTS is a story with graphic language, and text (including references to abuse and neglect) that may not be suitable for all readers. The premise is entertaining that is a little slow out of the gate but picks up quickly as the story line progresses; the romance is provocative and seductive, quick to build including a sexy erotic, first encounter; the characters are tough, spirited and edgy. ACE OF HEARTS is a dramatic, passionate and captivating story line.

Climbing into bed behind his lovely professor seemed different. At the clubhouse, neither of them felt particularly at home. It was clear that Barbara felt totally comfortable in her own home, though. The strange part was that Ace felt very much at home there, too.
“This is all kinds of weird for me.”
“My house must seem like a tiny doll house to you.”
“It feels more like a warm, safe nest that’s been made enticing by the addition of a beautiful and accommodating woman. I’m feeling a bit like the world’s last dodo bird or something.”
“In that case, we had better start making babies before you go extinct.”
“The last time you said something like that it triggered a little episode of self-loathing.” Pulling the blanket up around them, he murmured reassuringly, “Don’t worry, this time I have my head screwed on straight. I’m intentionally not using a condom and will be trying my best to make ugly little dodo babies with you.”
“You’re so funny.”
Ace frowned. “Why do you want to get pregnant?”
“Fertility stays relatively stable until around age thirty in women. After that, it begins to drop off slightly. Since I gave my marriage a dirt nap, I suppose I’ve been worried about missing my window.” Eyeing him with heated admiration, she continued, “You’re a big, strapping biker. You look like you could get the job done with some swimmers to spare.”
Moving closer, he grinned. “This is like a whole new side of your personality that I’ve never seen.”
Running her hand over his chest, she laughed. “It’s the neurotic and slightly panicking side.”
Jerking his chin for her to give him a kiss, he murmured, “It looks good on you.”
Rather than following his nonverbal communication, she asked softly, “So do you have baby-related secrets to share?”
Reaching out, he wrapped one arm around her and dragged her close. “Sure, but I don’t think you wanna hear them.”
“I do, so cough it up.”
Spanning her stomach with his hand, he said, “I’ve thought about how nice it would be to see my child growing inside you. You’d look really sexy with a baby bump. I’d be one of those obsessed dads who listened to your stomach and told our little princess stories so she’d get used to my voice. Since I don’t know any stories fit to tell a baby, we’d have to go to one of those fancy bookstores and buy some. Maybe we’d get one of those fancy coffees you like so much.”
Her eyes damn near sparkled. “That’s about the sweetest baby secret I ever heard.”
Looking down at his hand on her stomach, he whispered, “I’d have to be really careful, ‘cause I wouldn’t want her to be scared when she saw me for the first time.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 22, 2018

What happens when an outlaw biker’s obsession puts him between a beautiful nurse and her vicious stalker?

Ryder

When a brutal attack sent him rolling on a gurney into a beautiful nurse’s life, the chance encounter seemed like a dream come true. She patched him up and gave him a reason to believe in love again, shining light into his dark and dangerous world.

There’s only one problem… She’s on the run from a violent past that’s about to catch up with her in the form of an ex-husband who’s used to getting what he wants—no matter what stands in his way. It might get him killed, but Ryder’s never backed down from a fight, and this is one he’s determined to win.

Tiffany

Starting over isn’t easy. Years of learning new towns, new people, and new jobs have left Tiffany tired, lonely, and ready to give up. Until a hot, sexy, bad-boy biker barreled into her life and she fell…hard. Latching onto the over-protective biker seemed like a good way to escape her daunting past, but life is never that simple.

Club life isn’t what Tiffany imagined it to be, and she soon realizes that her hot new man has a long and wild history that may be more than she bargained for. Between the women and rumors of violence, she finds herself caught between a psychotic ex bent on her destruction and the man who isn’t what she thought him to be. When things quickly begin to unravel, Tiffany doesn’t know who to trust or where to turn.

REVIEW: FIGHTING DIRTY is the second instalment in J. C. Valentine’s contemporary, adult BLIND JACKS erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the men and women of the Blind Jacks MC. This is Sargent-At-Arms Ryder Staunton, and registered nurse Tiffany Stone’s continuing story line. FIGHTING DIRTY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty although I recommend reading the series in order for cohesion and backstory.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tiffany and Ryder) FIGHTING DIRTY follows the on-going relationship between Ryder and Tiffany as Tiffany becomes embedded in the MC lifestyle unsure of what the future will hold. As her past slowly begins to encroach upon the present, our heroine makes a decision to move on with her life. Hoping to protect everyone that she loves, Tiffany embarks on a mission of her own that will bring her face to face with a man who threatens her very existence. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

Meanwhile, a rival gang begins to impinge upon the Blind Jacks territory in the hopes of procuring money and power. Club president Darwin ‘Darkness’ Dawson doesn’t do well with blackmail or threats when a familiar face presents a bigger problem then anyone could have expected.

WE are introduced to club president Darwin ‘Darkness’ Dawson, Hickory, Knave, prospect Cork, and of course, newest member Jeremy ‘Ace’ Strond, and club wh*re Alyssa; as well as Ryder’s parents Ven and Lily, Ryder’s younger sister Rose, and Tiffany’s mother Sarah Donovan. The requisite evil comes in the form of a woman from Darkness’ past Abigail Andrews; the new president of the Seven Devils MC aka Devil; and Tiffany’s ex Stuart Chamberlain.

The world building continues to look at the dark and gritty MC lifestyle. The energy is crisp but threatening; the future is fated by circumstance and on-going threats; most of the women are nothing more than throw-away toys and wh*res.

We learn what precipitated Tiffany’s life spiralling out of control but the conflict resolution leaves much to be desired. I have to question the direction of this particular part of the premise which began with a backstory about an abusive and controlling ex but somehow ends up straddling the line between darkly humorous and dangerously psychotic. The epilogue fast forwards the story line approximately one year. I am hoping there are stories in development for Ace, Darkness, Rose and Hickory.

FIGHTING DIRTY is an entertaining and exciting story line but meandered down a path of questionable conflict resolution and the resulting aftermath of Tiffany’s life on the run-something to which I continue to shake my head. The premise is interesting and dramatic; the characters are rough and brusque; the romance is impassioned and provocative.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 27, 2017

If you love badass bikers and the smart, caring ladies who fall for them, then you’ll love the Blind Jacks MC!

Tiffany
Leading a nomadic life, I’ve been on the run from my rich ex-husband for years. I’ve learned every trick in the book, staying one step ahead of him and his trackers. He’s taken everything from me, and despite everything, I’ve managed to carve out a life. But he’s getting close again. It’s time to hit the road, to start over…but it looks like the universe has other plans.

Ryder
As Sargent at Arms, stalking the crazy man trying to kill my MC brothers is part of my job description. Protecting the club is what I live for. Unfortunately, today I’m the loser in our never ending game of cat and mouse. The last thing I remember before waking up in the emergency room is staring up at the sky while bleeding out onto the cold, hard pavement. Then the pretty nurse walks in and turns my world sideways, and those soft hands know just how to handle a big, angry biker like me. With a psycho on my tail, the stakes couldn’t be higher. I know I should walk away, but self-preservation has never been much of a strong suit. As my enemy closes in, I’ve got no gun, three bullet holes, and absolutely zero patience left. The question is, who will be the one to sign my death warrant—the crazy-ass biker who’s gunning for me…or the sexy-as-sin nurse I’ve got a hard-on for?

REVIEW:MARKED FOR DEATH is the first instalment in JC Valentine’s contemporary, adult BLIND JACKS erotic, romance series. This is Blind Jacks MC Sargent at Arms Ryder Staunton , and registered nurse Tiffany Stone’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Tiffany and Ryder) MARKED FOR DEATH is a novella length story line that focuses on the quick building relationship between Tiffany and Ryder, as Ryder tries to stay one step ahead of the man trying to destroy his life. When a take down goes horribly wrong Ryder ends up in the hospital fighting for his life where he will meet his future in registered nurse Tiffany Stone- a woman whose own life on the run, from a controlling ex, begins to parallel that of our story line hero.

With a rival gang member hunting her patient Tiffany makes it her mission to protect the man with whom she is falling in love. What ensues is the quick building romance between Tiffany and Ryder, and the potential fall out when Ryder’s whereabouts are discovered, and Tiffany becomes collateral damage in a game of betrayal and revenge.

The relationship between Tiffany and Ryder is quick to build as our heroine’s sexual attraction to Ryder crosses all sorts of ethical lines both in and out of the hospital setting. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

MARKED FOR DEATH is a highly sexual, quick read that loses some of its’ momentum with a copious number of sex scenes, and the rapid and questionable resolution to the capture of Ace- a man desperate to avenge the death of his brother. The character building is lacking as we know very little about their individual histories or backgrounds including the real reason why our heroine is on the run. The premise is fair to middling as a I struggled to accept the story line direction. I am looking forward to a more detailed background as Tiffany continues to battle demons from the past.

Marked for Death TeaserExcerpt

“Call me Ryder.” His head was still throbbing, and his fingers were half numb, but he wanted to hear his name on her lips. Taking a deep breath, he allowed his eyes to drift from her face down to her chest, landing on her name badge. Tiffany Stone, RN. Looking up to recapture her eyes, he spoke quietly. “Miss Tiffany, if I’m going to survive, I need your help.”
“I don’t know how I can be any more help than I already have in this situation. I’m just a nurse.”
He hated seeing the fear so clearly stamped on her attractive face as she gazed up at him.
Cupping her face in his hands, he tried to communicate the urgency of his need. Meeting her eyes, his words were sincere when he told her, “I can’t be found here, electronically or physically. You are the only person I have right now. Will you help me?”
After facing off with the estranged man, Ryder could tell that his open honesty affected her, softening her to his request.
“Look, doll, you were amazing. How often do you get the chance to match wits with a killer while a man’s life hangs in the balance?”
Ignoring his attempt at humor, she replied thoughtfully, “Fine, Ryder. This is my last day at this job, so I’ll take a chance for you. Updating your information in our database shouldn’t be too difficult, since we have identity issues with our patients off and on. If I don’t modify that information, they might give him information on you if they think he’s family.
“Him coming here again is too much of a risk for you and the other patients we’re treating, so it’s a lesser of two evils kind of choice for me. In fact, we might be able to stash you in one of the empty offices in the back for the night, then on the off chance that he comes barreling back in here, he won’t find you lying helpless on your back.”
Grabbing her by the arm, he whispered, “You’re a woman after my own heart.”
Ignoring his gentle flirting, she placed a warm hand on his chest and eased him back again. “I’ll be back when things calm down, gorgeous. In an hour or so, it’ll be a ghost town out there. You’ll likely be transferred to another hospital in the morning. They won’t want to discharge you in your condition.”
“I need my…personal effects.”
Turning her sharp gaze on him, she quipped humorlessly, “I saw your personal effects, Ryder. I’m betting you’d be happy if I just brought your wallet and gun, right?”
“Don’t look at me like that, Tiff. I got a killer on my tail. Of fuckin’ course I want my one and only weapon.”
Sighing, she folded her arms across her chest. “I don’t see how that’s going to happen. The social workers log it and lock it upon arrival. I don’t even have access to it.”
“I can’t protect us without a weapon. Can you bring me one in somehow?”
Her eyes got huge. “Are you seriously asking me to bring you a weapon? No, absolutely not. I don’t mind helping you stay alive, but I’m not going to end up in an orange jumpsuit over bringing a perfect stranger a weapon.”
“So, you think I’m perfect?”
Her eyes widened. “What? No. That was a figure of speech.”
Ryder smirked. “You already called me gorgeous. I think you do like the look of me.”
She glared back at him. “Don’t even think of trying to sweet talk me into breaking the law. I won’t do it. Not for you or any other hot guy.”
“So, now I’ve stepped up to hot?” For some godforsaken reason, he couldn’t stop himself from flirting with the adorably innocent nurse. Now was so not the time, but Junior was raring to go.
Rolling her eyes, she folded her arms over her chest. “Sure, you’re hot. Are you happy now?”
“Come, sit on Daddy’s lap.” Where the fuck did that come from? Ryder realized in that moment that his dick was doing all the talking.
“You’re freaking unbelievable. You don’t have time for shit like that. You’re a walking dead man, remember? Get your head together.” The woman’s face was flaming red. Whether it was from true anger or embarrassment, he couldn’t tell, but it was fucking sexy as hell.
Her harsh words felt like getting doused with cold water.
“Whatever you say, Nurse Stone.” He heard his tone of voice change as he edged into asshole mode again. Something about being brought up short by the hot nurse seriously aggravated him. She was all kinds of right about how this wasn’t the time or place, but it still pissed him off.
There would never be an appropriate time for a woman like her to sit on his lap. This was a fact he was all too aware of, and it had him feeling some kind of way.
