She has a secret she’s desperate to keep…

With danger looming on the horizon, former FBI agent turned bunny, Bambi Lane, isn’t taking any chances. Taking refuge in a nearby town, she builds a new and comfortable life under the radar, but when trouble comes knocking on her door, she finds that the one thing she’s worked so hard to protect is about to be exposed.

He has a desire that won’t be denied.

Curtis “Taco” Nash, the Spartan’s road captain, has always marched to the beat of his own drum, his only loyalty to that of his brothers and the club. Only one person has ever successfully clawed their way under Curtis Nash’s skin, and when she disappeared from his life without so much as a goodbye, he wrote her off—at least, he tried to. One mention of the one who got away, and he’s consumed with desire—and anger. He wants answers. He wants her. He’s about to get a lot more than he bargained for.

As the war between the cartel and the Spartans heats up, Taco has to decide if he’s going to protect his brothers or the new life that’s waiting for him. When everything hangs in the balance, one thing is clear: No one is safe. Will Bambi and Taco be able to come together and find the strength to take a leap of faith before time runs out?

REVIEW: BRASH is the fourth installment in JC Valentine’s contemporary, adult SPARTAN RIDERS erotic, MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Spartan Riders MC. This is Spartan Riders’ road captain Curtis ‘Taco’Nash, and former FBI agent Bambi Lane’s story line. BRASH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order as their is an ongoing war between the Spartan Riders and the Cruiz drug cartel. Curtis and Bambi’s story line begins in the previous installments wherein their relationship is kept secret from the other Club members.

Told from several third person perspectives including Curtis and Bambi BRASH follows the second chance romance between Spartan Riders MC road captain Curtis ‘Taco’ Nash, and former FBI agent Bambi Lane. One year earlier, as the war with the Cruiz cartel crossed over into their personal lives of the Spartan Riders’ families, Bambi Lane packed up leaving her hometown and Curtis behind. Their secret affair meant Bambi had no recourse with the Spartan Riders members; banned from the clubhouse, her affair with Curtis was hidden behind closed doors. Fast forward to present day wherein Bambi’s life has changed; she is free of the Spartan lifestyle but misses Curtis more than she ever could have imagined. A chance encounter with some of the Club members’ wives finds our heroine on the look out for the man that calls to her heart. Now that her secret is about to be revealed Bambi must prepare to face the wrath of the man with whom she had fallen in love. Enter Curtis ‘Taco’ Nash, Spartan Riders MC road captain who is determined to keep Bambi close by his side. The war with the Cruiz cartel continues to escalate, and everyone, including girlfriends and wives, are considered collateral damage in a game of betrayal and revenge.

BRASH looks at the volatile and dangerous MC lifestyle: the threats, the hazards, the intimidation, and the instability and insecurity of life in the MC. No one is safe when a traitor turns deadly; the Cruiz cartel will renew their attacks against the Spartan MC. The premise is dark and gritty; the characters are colorful and charismatic; the romance is a second chance for two people pulled apart by the uncertainty of the future.

Lucina Cruiz was the devil. Wow, how many times had she heard that sentiment before? It always made her laugh though. She so enjoyed the fear in a man’s eyes before she cut them out. Even more, she enjoyed their screams, especially those last frantic pleas for mercy. The only thing she loathed was the constant lack of creativity.
One would think that staring death in the face would inspire some originality. Hell, it always inspired her, but then, she was the one doling it out, so maybe that was the difference. Still, she was a little bored with the whole “devil” nametag. It was becoming…cliché.
Perhaps she could hold a seminar about it.
Dressed in a brand new white satin negligée, Luciana stood over Manuel’s sleeping form. In her hand was the push dagger he kept in the top drawer in the table beside the bed. He had another under his pillow and a gun to go along with it.
Manuel had toys stashed all over the house, and she knew where every single one of them were hidden. No one did anything under her nose without her knowing about it.
As she did almost every night, Luciana waited for Manuel to fall asleep, and then she took out that dagger and stood over him, watching him sleep as she wondered how and when she’d do it. Kill him, that is.
It was on her to-do list, so it would happen. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when.
Just as she did every night, she lost track of time. Hours passed while she stared at him, memorizing his lithe form, those thick, muscular thighs and tight abs. He had the most beautiful face she’d ever seen on a man, but he was a killer. Just like her.
Two killers, both with ambitions, couldn’t coexist side by side. One day, it was going to come down to survival, and Lucina was determined to come out on top. She wasn’t called the Mantis for nothing.

The Affair

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 13, 2016

While the husband is away, the wife will play…

Bradley is a good man. He’s loyal and loving and a great husband and father. But the spice is gone from our marriage. It’s time to liven things up a bit.

I’m done being good. Done following the rules. I’ve spent half my life playing wife, mother, chauffeur, and maid. Now, it’s time to play the vixen. It’s time to reclaim the woman I used to be—the woman I was always meant to be. It’s time to shake things up.

Warning: This book is short and filled with dirty, steamy sex. It’s going to speak to your adventurous side, the side of you that craves a fantasy. So, if you’ve ever wondered what if, then this is the book for you. It requires an open mind, so read it till the end. You won’t be sorry.

••••••••••

REVIEW: THE AFFAIR by J. C. Valentine is a contemporary, adult novella that focuses on a woman we know only as Jasmine. Jasmine’s married life has fallen into a rut, and our heroine searches for some sexual excitement in her life. Enter ‘Will’, a gentleman she meets at a local bar, and the man who is about to make her fantasies come true.

Told from first person point of view (Jasmine) THE AFFAIR is a very quick read; an erotic short story that focuses on a one night stand between two people looking for a night together to explore their sexual wants and needs. The premise is entertaining but predictable; the $ex scenes are erotic and intense but we know very little about either character other than their desperate coupling and desire.

THE AFFAIR will make you blush; make your heart beat a little faster; and give you the warm fuzzies when all is said and done.

With work occupying her days and nights, a relationship is the last thing on her mind, until a run-in with a hot-as-Hades, leather clad biker changes her mind. He’s everything she shouldn’t want but has to have. The problem is, he’s not that easy to catch.

Tucker “Country” Abrams believes in two things: brotherhood and women. He takes his job seriously and his women hard, but at the end of the day, the only loyalty he has is to his club. So when a night with a beautiful stranger threatens to change everything, he’s quick to apply the brakes. But when a little detective work reveals that Talia may be much more than a one-night stand, Tucker is tasked with an impossible decision. Will he push her away, or go against every instinct he has and pull her closer?

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: METTLE is the second installment in J.C. Valentine’s contemporary, adult SPARTAN RIDERS erotic MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Spartan Riders Motorcycle club. This is Sargent at Arms Tucker ‘Country’ Abrams, and undercover agent Talia McKinnon’s story line. METTLE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order as some of the events in book two are as of a direct result from some of the events in book one GRIT wherein threats against the club president’s girlfriend continue to grow.

Told from several third person points of view METTLE follows special agent Talia McKinnon on her assignment to infiltrate the Spartan Riders MC in the hopes of ferreting out a human trafficking ring. The FBI’s most recent undercover agent with the Spartan Riders MC has gone dark, and Talia has volunteered for the next undercover assignment. What ensues is the building relationship between Talia and the Spartan Riders Sargent at arms Tucker Abrams- a manwhore whose latest club bunny has been pushed to the side- and Talia’s search for any information that will lead to the missing women, and proof that Tucker and his MC are involved.

The relationship between Tucker and Talia is quick to develop as Tucker is a man who never refuses an offer for a night of uninhibited $ex but is also a man who doesn’t do relationships or love. Talia’s undercover assignment does not include taking her marks to bed, but in order to get close to the MC, Talia is willing to go above and beyond until her cover is blown by one of her own. One thing stands in Talia’s way-club bunny Bambi-a woman who has her claws in Tucker Abrams. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and provocative. There is plenty of sexual tension and palpable energy between our leading couple.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including club President Blake Mahone and his girlfriend Gabby (Grit), as well as a number of Club members-The Spartans VP Repo has his eyes set on club bartender Ginger-a woman scorned when the man she loved fell in love with someone else. We are introduced to Talia’s co-workers and fellow agents in the field, some of whom may be working for the other side. The characters are real, heartbreaking and intense.

The world building looks at life within the MC: the friendships, rivalries, rules and regulations. Sex is a regular part of their every day life, and no one is immune from jealousy or threats.

METTLE is a fast paced, intriguing story of betrayal and trust; lies and deceit; friendship and love; forgiveness and letting go of the past. The premise is engaging and riveting; the romance is passionate, energetic and seductive. J.C. Valentine’s METTLE will suck you in for the ride of your life.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 19, 2016

Gabby Morgan isn’t looking for love. Not even a little romance. Following a rocky past that she’d just as soon forget, she’s determined to focus on the future. One that most certainly doesn’t involve the tough-as-nails, short-on-words, hot-as-hell biker…or his kid.

Blake Mahone may not be done with women, but he’s finished with relationships. Then Gabby Morgan enters the picture. She’s flawless, refined, and as his kid’s teacher, way out of his league. She acts like she hates him, but her eyes tell a different story. Before he knows it, Blake finds himself hot for teacher, and he’s more than ready to learn all her secrets. Now all he has to do is convince her to give him a shot…without getting them both killed in the process.

REVIEW: GRIT is the first installament in JC Valentine’s adult, contemporary SPARTAN RIDERS erotic, MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Spartan Riders MC. This is club president Blake Mahone, and kindergarten teacher Gabby Morgan’s story line.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Blake and Gabby) GRIT follows the building relationship between Spartan Riders MC president Blake Mahone, a single father to a six year old boy Ash, and kindergarten teacher Gabby Morgan. Blake has not made a great impression on his son’s teacher-late to drop off and pick up his son on one too many occasions, Blake finds himself judged by the woman who would steal his heart. What ensues are Blake’s attempts to seduce his son’s teacher, and Gabby’s attempts to stay one step ahead of her past.

Gabby is no stranger to dark lovers who ride motorcycles, and in this our heroine is on the run from someone from her past. Blake’s ex, and the mother of his child, is a woman determined to destroy everything that Blake wants, and what Blake wants is a future with Gabby Morgan. When a former MC rival makes a re-appearance in town, Blake begins to suspect that things are about to get very personal.

The relationship between Gabby and Blake is one of immediate attraction but looks can also be deceiving when our leading couple begins to judge one another based on who they are, and what they do- a love/hate relationship between two people drawn together by a young boy whose seen rejection first hand. Blake is determined to seduce his way into Gabby’s bed, and Gabby is reluctant to find herself in bed with a student’s father. The $ex scenes are seductive, provocative and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Spartan Riders MC, as well as Gabby’s parents, and Blake’s vindictive ex. Blake’s adorable six year old son Ash will break your heart.

GRIT is a story that ends on a happily ever after-for now. The story line conflict has yet to be resolved, in fact, Gabby’s past is two fold, with vengeance and betrayal sought with dogged determination. The violence is limited in comparison to many other MC series, but that’s not to say that the MC lifestyle is any less dangerous or dark. The premise looks at family, friendship and betrayal. It is intoxicating, intriguing and inviting; the characters are colorful and animated; the romance is passionate and intense. JC Valentine’s GRIT is a great start to a new series you don’t want to miss.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 7, 2014

Shy.
Intelligent.
Naive.
Statistic.

Raine Forester was an average girl leading an average life. She slipped beneath everyone’s radar, until Camron Moss, the most popular guy in school, took interest in her and changed everything.

Some acts are unforgivable.

Raine thought she’d been accepted. She thought she was one of them. She thought she was in love… until one moment made her realize she’d trusted the wrong person. Lies are told, hearts get broken, secrets are revealed, and sometimes, true love is found in the least likely places.

••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: RAINE is a stand alone, contemporary, new adult storyline from author J.C. Valentine. The premise focuses on a year in the life of high school senior Raine Forester and the actions of a boy that almost destroyed that life.

The storyline follows Raine in the aftermath of an assault that not only destroyed her reputation but destroyed her family as well. Shy, introverted and unpopular Raine is as much surprised as anyone else when the most popular and rich boy at school, Camron Moss, asks her out. For two months, Raine’s life is sunshine and happiness until the night of their senior prom where not only will the truth be revealed but her life will be ruined in the process. Enter Jarret Moss, Camron’s older brother and the only person who will stand up for Raine when the going gets rough.

The relationship between Jarret and Raine is one born out of necessity. With no place to go, Jarret offers Raine a place to stay but accepting the invitation places Raine in direct contact with her ex-boyfriend’s family and friends. As the storyline builds, so too does the relationship between Jarret and Raine-one that could end disastrously if Jarret’s family has anything to say.

The premise outline and secondary characters are similar in context to many young adult (YA) storylines including the mean girl, the jealousy, the set up, the revenge, and the ever present vindictive parents and manipulating ex yet the storyline has been labeled new adult. This is a story about a young eighteen year old girl who is targeted by the school bullies and snobs, and in doing so, will destroy a young woman’s reputation before she has had a chance to blossom and grow. Raine must grow up rather quickly when life as she knows it changes in the blink of an eye. Jarret and Raine are likeable characters, if not heartbreakingly so, given the context of each of their lives. We never do learn why it is Raine is targeted by the school snobs-why she will become the pawn in a dare-and in this I was left wondering where it all began.

Overall, the story was an easy read with a familiar and interesting premise but there were moments where the storyline was choppy as though pieces of information were missing. I would have liked some more background information about both of the leading characters but the storyline focused on ‘one year in the life’ more than their history or what led up to the pivotal storyline moment. My major concern is the lack of development with the leading characters considering everything that happened in the story and the lack of resolution in some of the pivotal plot points (ie Jarret’s paintings and their significance to the overall story); weeks and months pass without a glimpse into Raine and Jarret’s growing relationship, or knowing what has happened to some of the other game players in the ensuing time.

RAINE is a heartbreaking tale of betrayal and hurt that will be all too familiar for some readers but it is a storyline with a happily ever after and in the end, it is the happily ever after that everyone wants.

excerpt

Raine’s thoughts were a swirl of sensation and emotion, all threatening to consume her. Jarret was kissing her. The act was so sudden, so unexpected, it wrenched a startled moan of pleasure from somewhere deep inside. Unbidden, her body leaned into his, and her fingers dug into the hard flesh of his solid triceps.
The man was built.
She knew Jarret must take good care of himself just by the perfect way in which his clothes hugged his body, as if they wanted to get closer and never let him go. Pretty much what she suspected most girls felt like when they set eyes on him.
Then he’d come down the stairs soaking wet from his shower and wrapped only in a towel, and he’d blown whatever lame ass fantasy she might have had about him right out the window.
Jarret was absolute perfection. He was all honed muscle that a man his age shouldn’t be able to have, and that only came with years of hard work and dedication.
Not that she was an expert in bodybuilding, but she’d seen the kind of constant, strenuous activity Camron and his teammates performed in order to get and stay in shape for the season.
Having her hands wrapped around all that muscle made her stomach flutter, and when Jarret tilted her head to the side and deepened the kiss, her legs threatened to give out. It was a good thing she was already sitting down.
Snaking one arm around her, Jarret crushed Raine against his chest. His other hand still cupping her face moved to the back of her head, closing in a fist around her hair, and held her tight as he plunged his tongue inside her mouth.
Holy crap, the man could kiss, too.
Raine wasn’t new to kissing. Camron had taught her much, but Jarret’s mouth felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Good Lord, she hoped it wasn’t.
His lips were a contradiction—soft but firm, hard but forgiving, demanding but cautious. The longer it went on, the more her body craved. Raine let out a whimper as he nipped her bottom lip with his teeth, and gripped him tighter, wanting more, wanting everything.
He’d turned something on inside of her, like a switch. Something she didn’t know she wanted, but now had to have. Desperately.
Instead of giving her body what it craved, Jarret pulled away. Her head still spinning from the amazing kiss, Raine fell forward. Grabbing her shoulders, Jarret steadied her.
His lips glistened from her kiss, and Raine couldn’t seem to take her eyes off them. Never taking his eyes from hers, Jarret wiped his lips dry with his fingertips. Taking a deep breath, he motioned to the living room.
“I’m going to get dressed then order a movie.”
