A seasoned air tanker pilot, Maren battles fires across the rugged Montana wilderness. With firefighters for roommates, she’s no stranger to tough guys—or tough situations. Now Ozzy and daughter Lola shun cars in favor of bikes.

Maren and Ozzy fall hard, but guilt forces them to hide their relationship from Ozzy’s disapproving in-laws. And Lola. They all want to protect her from more heartbreak. But when tragedy strikes again, Lola’s reaction will surprise them all. And Ozzy could get a second chance at love after all

REVIEW: FROM NOWHERE is the second instalment in Jewel E Ann’s contemporary, adult WILDFIRE erotic, romance serles. This is thirty six year old single father and mechanic Ozzy Laster, and thirty-three year old pilot Maren Bernabe’s story line. FROM NOWHERE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ozzy and Maren) FROM NOWHERE follows the building but struggling relationship between our story line couple. Approximately two years earlier, Ozzy Laster lost both his wife and his father in an automobile accident, an accident that left their eight year old daughter with both physical and emotional scars. Fast forward to present day, Ozzy finds himself attracted to one of the tanker pilots who flies in and out of raging wildfires but Ozzy is struggling in the wake of losing everything two years before. Not only has Ozzy struggled but his now ten year old daughter is unable to move on from the past. As Ozzy and Maren’s relationship begins to grow, the grief and guilt begin to eat at our hero, with a little help from the people at home.

The world building focuses on one families inability to let go. From the in-laws who place the blame on an innocent man, determined to control every aspect of his life; to a young girl so traumatized, her struggles affect not only her family but the woman with whom her father is falling in love. Maren’s job is dangerous, and the future is not always a guarantee. There is no timeline on grief or guilt and in this, family and friends struggle to accept the lingering problems.

The relationship between Ozzy and Maren begins quite humorously but quickly devolves in the face of Ozzy’s dysfunctional family dynamics; his daughter’s overwhelming fear of losing everyone she loves; and our hero’s inability to stand up for himself. While Maren falls for a man who is struggling to heal, Ozzy is impotent and powerless to move on with his life. A bit of a doormat for his mother-in-laws control, Ozzy’s failure to take control begins to affect every aspect of his life. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include the return of Jamie and Fitz (From Air 1) , thirty-seven year old Engine Chief / firefighter Will Landry, as well as the introduction of Ozzy’s in-laws Tia and Amos, his daughter Lola, and fellow mechanic Diego.

FROM NOWHERE is a slow building story of death and suffering, grief and guilt, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is captivating; the characters are desperate, broken and struggling to heal.

REVIEW: THE APPLE TREE is the second instalment in Jewel E Ann’s ‘historical’ adult SUNDAY MORNING romance series. This is twenty-eight year old single father / high school teacher/ football coach Kyle Collins, and eighteen year old Eve Jacobsen’s story line. THE APPLE TREE, set in 1987, advances the series approximately two years, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Eve and Kyle) THE APPLE TREE follows the building but forbidden relationship between is twenty-eight year old single father / high school teacher Kyle Collins, and eighteen year old Eve Jacobsen. Eve Jacobsen is a recent high school graduate with no prospects on the horizon. Working as a motel maid, Eve finds herself at a crossroads, struggling with her own demons, when her mother suggests her babysitting services for the new neighbor next door. Enter Kyle Collins, the man with whom Eve will fall in love. Kyle Collins is a single father, who moved to Devil’s Head for a new beginning but never intended to fall for the preacher’s eighteen year old daughter. Having been burned in the past, Kyle has issues of trust, and Eve is about to push all of Kyle’s buttons.

The world building follows several paths including Eve’s personal battles and her need to break from her parent’s overzealous religious control. Her father is the local preacher, and as such, appearances can make or break the Christian following but Eve is quickly falling for a man who is battling his own attraction to a woman ten years younger, and keeping their relationship a secret is a fight they are about to lose. Each new chapter begins with a song title relating to the couple’s journey. THE APPLE TREE is not as preachy, and does not overwhelm the reader in religious ideation as book one SUNDAY MORNING but some of the doctrines and theology of Christianity are present, none-the-less including the thinly veiled ‘Adam and Eve’ undertone using the apple tree.

The relationship between Kyle and Eve is one of dual attraction but Kyle knows not to cross the invisible line, a line that Eve will continuously break. Having already loved and lost, Kyle has issues of trust, and having been seduced by the preacher’s daughter, Kyle finds himself battling between head and heart knowing the scandal will rip the family and town apart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include the introduction of Kyle’s sweet but energetic five year old son Josh, as well as Eve’s best friend Erin: Kyle’s best friend Adam, and Kyle’s brother Fred who is best friends with Pastor Jacobsen. We are reintroduced to Eve’s long suffering sisters Gabby and Sarah (Sunday Morning), and their parents Pastor Peter and Janet Jacobsen. Gabby’s story line is next.

THE APPLE TREE is another story of secrets and lies, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is sensitive, detailed, impassioned and thought provoking; the age-gap romance is raw and emotional; the characters are spirited and edgy.

Sarah is a preacher’s daughter and a people pleaser. She’s also on the verge of graduating high school and following her dream of singing in Nashville. The only thing standing in her way is that the entire town of Devil’s Head, Missouri, thinks she will marry Matt, the son of the town’s richest rancher.

But Sarah’s not sure he’s her future husband, especially when his older brother, Isaac, returns home after serving six years in the Army. He has tattoos on his arms and bad habits that are not “father-approved.”

When he’s not working on the ranch or roping at the rodeo, Isaac hangs out in the barn, playing his guitar. He’s trouble, but Sarah’s music-loving heart gravitates toward him.
Isaac loves consuming Sarah’s mind, crawling under her skin, backing her into corners, and whispering inappropriate things in her innocent ears.

After weeks of playful banter and guitar lessons blurring the line between right and wrong, Issac makes Sarah a proposition she can’t refuse.

But when the unthinkable happens, and everything she knows is destroyed, will Sarah make the right choice?

REVIEW: SUNDAY MORNING by Jewel E Ann is a new adult, romance story line set in 1985 focusing eighteen year old preacher’s daughter Sarah Jacobsen, and twenty-four year old, former US soldier /rancher Isaac Cory.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sarah and Isaac) SUNDAY MORNING follows the building romance and relationship between Sarah and Isaac, and the slow spiral of a life-long friendship, secrets and lies.

Sarah Jacobsen is the eldest daughter of Devil’s Head preacher Pastor Peter Cory, and as such, every aspect of her life is predicated upon the Church and God. Her future has been mapped out including her relationships and marriage to the local hero Matt Cory but it is Matt’s brother Isaac who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. Devil’s Head, a small town Peyton Place, keeps its’ secrets close to the heart but the truth will eventually destroy many lives. What ensues is the breakdown of Matt and Sarah’s relationship, and the building love between two people whose lives will implode when those who claim to be virtuous sit in judgement of their own.

The world building is flooded with Christian religious undertones from commandments to morality, purity and God. Virginity is a social construct driven by religion, and in this, our heroine will pay the price for loving Isaac Cory, a man not approved by her father or the town. Sarah grew up in an ultra-conservative, religious family and her naivety is often at the forefront of her social world.

The relationship between Isaac and Sarah is one of immediate attraction. Sarah is in a relationship with Isaac’s younger brother Matt but a relationship that is awkward, innocent, expected and forced by both families. Isaac is the local bad boy whose reputation was destroyed and perpetuated by secrets and lies; Sarah sees something in Isaac including a way to break free from the stifling world in which she grew, a man whose own heart begins to beat from the love of our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Sarah’s sisters Eve and Gabby whose own secret rebellion is just starting to grow; their parents Pastor Peter and Janet Jacobsen; Sarah’s best friend Heather, and Joanna; Matt and Isaac’s parents Wesley and Violet Cory.

SUNDAY MORNING is as story of secrets and lies, betrayal and infidelity, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is impassioned; the characters are determined and charismatic.

•••••••••

REVIEW: BECAUSE OF HER is the fifth (and final?) instalment in Jewel E Ann’s contemporary, adult JACK AND JILL erotic, romantic suspense series. This is fifty-something Jackson Knight aka Jude Day, and forty-one year old, music professor Francesca ‘Frankie’ Holter’s story line. We were first introduced to Jackson Knight as one half of the twin brother / sister duo in books 1-3 of the Jack and Jill series, as well as his return in book five Out of Love. BECAUSE OF HER can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order. There is quite a bit of history that is relevant to Jackson’s current state of mind.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WIIL BE triggers for more sensitive readers. Although most of the graphic details are behind the scenes or fade to black, the triggers may be upsetting, none the less.

Told from first person perspective (Frankie) and third person (Jackson) BECAUSE OF HER follows in the aftermath of an horrific family tragedy in Boone Kansas, a tragedy that continues to spiral out of control. Francesca Holter has come to Boone to settle a number of family affairs but never expected to come face to face with her future in the guise of Jackson Knight, a man who keeps his secrets close to his heart. Frankie is determined to uncover the truth about what happened to her family but the deeper she digs, the more dangerous her life is about to become. With the unwanted assistance of Jackson Knight, Frankie finds herself falling down a rabbit hole from which there may be no return. Meanwhile, Jackson Knight’s business in Boone, Kansas is not far off from Francesca’s target. Jackson is determined to end a lifetime of tragedy but saving Frankie may be the last thing he every does. What ensues is the building relationship between Frankie and Jackson, and the fall-out when Frankie crosses a line from which she may never come back.

The world building is complex, heart breaking and emotional. As warned, the suicides are troubling and distressing but one in particular has been ripped from the headlines of hometown America. A seemingly normal family loses everything and everyone, and our heroine is left to pick up the pieces of the people she thought she knew but as Frankie continues to dig for answers, she too, will face the ultimate betrayal, a betrayal from which she struggles to heal.

The relationship between Frankie and Jackson begins acrimoniously. Jackson is a man with a particular skill set that he needs to focus on finishing the job. Vengeance is the only thing, in many years, that has mattered to our story line hero but meeting and falling for Francesca Holter meant Jackson had more to lose than he could have possibly imagined. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, powerful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Archer and Corinne Sanford, and their seventeen year old daughter Molly, as well as the return of Jackson’s daughter Livy Knight, and her husband Slade Wylder (Out of Love 5), and Jackson’s twin sister Jessica Knight (Jack and Jill 1-3).

BECAUSE OF HER is a multi-layered, impassioned and thought-provoking story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, loss and grief, determination and acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic, edgy, and visceral; the romance is seductive and aggressive; the characters are broken, dynamic, desperate and single-minded.

Anna Black has the perfect novel choice for her book club. She also has a sexy new neighbor who jumps at the opportunity to join fellow bookworms in discussing her pick for their summer read.

It’s lust at first sight and the marriage of two literary souls.

Will Anna and Eric write their own story? Or will their chemistry die when fiction turns into reality?

**Right Guy, Wrong Word was originally written as a short story, The Last Person. It’s been revised with significant changes to the original content and extended into a full-length novel.

•••••••

REVIEW: RIGHT GUY, WRONG WORD by Jewel E Ann is a contemporary, adult, romance story line focusing on Anna Black, and Eric Steinmann.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Anna and Eric) RIGHT GUY, WRONG WORD follows the building but contemptuous relationship between Anna Black and Eric Steinmann. Eric Steinmann is Anna Black’s new neighbor, and as such, Anna invites Eric to her weekly book club discussion but Eric’s one-word criticism of Anna’s favorite book throws our heroine off of her game, and in the ensuing aftermath, Anna’s immature behavior and attitude towards Eric is questionable at best. Several nights together, several weeks of getting to know one another end when Eric, once again, reiterates his criticisms of the book Anna loves, and our couple are forced to go their separate ways. Three years will pass, Anna has moved but an accident will result in Eric’s return to her life, a return that struggles in the face of Anna’s inability to let go.

The world building focuses on the encroaching war between our story line couple. Anna is so upset about Eric’s criticism of her favorite book, that no amount of grovelling will help Eric’s case. Anna’s behavior towards Eric is childish; immature and caustic, and as such, Eric must walk away before Anna implodes. Three years will pass, as Anna comes to terms with what happened and why. Secrets will reveal the basis for Anna’s unwarranted anger but Eric may not be the only person who dislikes the book that Anna loves.

The relationship between Eric and Anna begins as neighbors, a relationship that will deteriorate quickly over a short period of time. Anna’s attitude leaves much to be desired by our story line hero but Eric keeps persisting, insisting it is his right to criticize, like or dislike any book that he reads. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of Anna’s book club, as well as Eric’s embittered and embattled father, Anna’s parents, and Anna’s roommate Shaun.

RIGHT GUY, WRONG WORD is a story of secrets and lies, anger and immaturity, growth and understanding, happiness and love but I struggled with the heroine’s attitude and behavior throughout most of the story-her immature actions affected my overall enjoyment of the story line premise. As to the hero’s insistence upon his right to critique, like or dislike a book, it is something that many ‘reviewers’ and ‘readers’ encounter at one time or another- the backlash is often quite unexpected. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but sometimes the opinion is not what they wanted to hear.

REVIEW:IF THIS IS LOVE by Jewel E Ann is a contemporary, new adult to adult, erotic romance story line focusing on ranch hand Milo Odell, and Indiana ‘Indie’ Iverson Ellington.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Indie Ellington and Milo Odell are the ‘property’ of businessman and ranch owner Fletcher Ellington, and as such have never been free from the tyrannical rule of a powerful man. Indie was raised as the daughter of Fletcher and Ruthie Ellington, and Milo Odell, eight years older than our story line heroine, is nothing more than an indentured servant for the Ellington family but all is not well behind the scenes, and Indie will find solace in the young man with whom she will fall in love. As Indie and Milo’s lives and love spiral out of control, our couple will learn Milo’s future is no longer his own, and Indie will be shuffled off to an all-girls private school so that she is no longer involved with the issues at home. Throughout the years, Indie and Milo will jump in and out of one another’s lives but the proverbial noose around Milo’s neck is growing tighter, and secrets revealed threaten Indie’s tentative hold on her ongoing animosity with the family she has never called her own.

IF THIS IS LOVE is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, love and acceptance, understanding and loss. There are several twists and turns, disagreements and controversy, disputes and blackmail, dissolution and conflict. Nothing and no one are as they appear to be, there is always another layer to the story, to the life and death of everyone concerned. Milo and Indie have promised to love one another no matter where they are but Milo is unable to control his own destiny, with the life of the people he loves targeted for the sins of the past. The premise is dramatic, heart breaking, emotional and startling; the characters are broken, embattled, bitter and lost; the romance and relationship between Milo and Indie are forbidden, destructive, and bewitching- the palpable sexual attraction is heavy and strong. Jewel E Ann has a remarkable way with words-her story telling is both enchanting and fascinating.

Jewel is a free-spirited romance junkie with a quirky sense of humor.

With 10 years of flossing lectures under her belt, she took early retirement from her dental hygiene career to stay home with her three awesome boys and manage the family business.

After her best friend of nearly 30 years suggested a few books from the Contemporary Romance genre, Jewel was hooked. Devouring two and three books a week but still craving more, she decided to practice sustainable reading, AKA writing.

When she’s not donning her cape and saving the planet one tree at a time, she enjoys yoga with friends, good food with family, rock climbing with her kids, watching How I Met Your Mother reruns, and of course…heart-wrenching, tear-jerking, panty-scorching novels.
