Skyler

My best friend died, leaving me to guard her secrets.
I never thought her secrets would become my nightmare.
I did what I had to do to survive, I ran.
Leaving everyone I love behind, including him.
I carried a piece of him with me, until it was taken away from me too.
Broken, angry, and tired of running, I fought.
For my life, the parts of myself I thought were lost, and for him.
He hates me, thinks I betrayed his family.
He’s the only thing I could never let go, no matter how many times I tried.
Would he love me again if he knew my secrets? If he knew why I had to run?
When my past comes back to haunt me, will he protect me,
or throw me to the Devil himself?

Ethan
She knows what happened to my sister.
She could’ve put the man responsible behind bars,
But instead, he got off free and clear, and she ran away.
She was supposed to be my forever.
Six years have passed and now she’s back in town ready to restart her life.
I want her gone.
Until a trouble comes looking for her.
She’s been keeping secrets, protecting those whose job it is to protect her.
I’ll fight her demons, then I’m going to make up for lost time.
And she’s never getting away from me again.

REVIEW:ETHAN’S SKY is the first instalment in Jl Quincy’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF FURY MC: OAKRIDGE erotic, MC romance series. This is twenty-four year old club dancer Skyler Sinclair, and Kings of Fury MC Road Captain Ethan Anderson’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Skyler and Ethan) using present day and memories from the past, ETHAN’S SKY follows in the perceived betrayal by our story line heroine. Approximately six years earlier, Ethan lost his sister and blamed the woman he loved, Skyler Sinclair, a woman who disappeared without a trace leaving a grieving Ethan to fend for himself. Fast forward to present day, Skyler is returning home to the protection of the Kings of Fury MC, a return precipitated by the murder of someone she loved but all is not well upon Skyler’s return-Ethan is determined to destroy the woman he once loved, ensuring Skyler is not welcome back, regardless of her previous connections with the Kings of Fury MC. Someone else is taking aim, targeting our story line heroine, and in doing so, threatens the club that has always had her back. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Skyler and Ethan, and the potential fall-out as the sins of the past take aim at Skyler Sinclair.

The world building is detailed, complex and often redundant. There are numerous names and plenty of info dumping throughout the story line, setting the stage for future stories. We are up close and person with the secrets from the past, secrets that destroyed both Ethan and Skyler, and set into motion a six year need for betrayal by the man Skyler still loves.

The relationship between Skyler and Ethan is a rekindling romance but a romance that is struggling in the face of secrets and lies. Skyler is hiding the truth about what happened years before, a truth many members of the Kings of Fury MC know only too well. As Skyler prepares for the firestorm that is Ethan Anderson, Ethan battles between head and heart believing Skyler was responsible for the death of his sister. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including several members of the Kings of Fury MC, Devil’s Order MC, and Vincenzo Parisi. The requisite evil has many faces.

ETHAN’S SKY is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, murder and obsession, power and control, family, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating but comprehensive-I think some editing may be necessary as the number of characters is exhaustive, and the duplication of information is unnecessary. Overall, a great start to an entertaining and interesting new MC series.
