Told from first person point of view (Max Summers) with intermittent ‘to do’ lists by Henley Marlowe JOY RIDE is a second chance (of sorts) for custom car builders Henley Marlowe and Max Summers. The relationship between Max and Henley is a frenemies to lovers, second chance story line for two people whose attraction to one another never went beyond boss and employee-a relationship hindered by angry words and forbidden dreams; a friendship destroyed by one man’s inability to look beyond his ego and demands. When Henley and Max are forced to work together their attraction to one another is palpable. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and intense. There is plenty of back and forth sexual innuendo adding some humorous moments to an entertaining story line.

The secondary and supporting characters include Dr. Chase Summers, and his fiancée/wife Josie, Chase and Max’s sisters Mia, as well as Max’s neighbor and adventure tour company operator Patrick. Mia and Patrick’s story is next in Hard Wood (November 2017).

The world building focuses on the passionate, fiery and flirty relationship; the rivalry between two competing garages; and the potential for a happily ever after between mentor and protégé, lovers and friends.
