REVIEW: JUST ONE MORE DARE is the second instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult STERLING FAMILY erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Dirty Dare and interconnected series. This is former professional football player Dex Sterling, and PR rep Samantha Dare’s story line. JUST ONE MORE DARE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Dex and Samantha) JUSTS ONE MORE DARE follows in the wake of Samantha discovering her fiancé’s affair with his long time assistant just minutes before the ceremony. Deciding her next move, Samantha finds herself ‘rescued’ by Dex Sterling, the man with whom Samantha will fall in love. Several days together on a secluded island, Samantha will come to terms with the life altering events but their return to society is hindered when Samantha’s now ex begins a smear campaign to destroy their lives. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Samantha and Dex, and the potential fall-out as Samantha is targeted by a sick and twisted man.
The world building focuses on the building relationship; the ultimate betrayal, and the large extended families on both sides. The Dare siblings have their own sordid history that they desperately try to keep out of the news, and the Sterling siblings find themselves supporting one another in the wake of past demons that refuse to let go
The relationship between Dex and Samantha is a friends to lovers, isolated proximity, in which Dex finds himself falling for a woman who just suffered a devastating betrayal. Not wanting to be the rebound boyfriend Dex struggles with his attraction to the woman who stole his heart years before but a woman that is strong enough to overcome the what is about to go down. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar characters most of whom we have met in the current and interconnected series including Samantha’s older brother Ian Dare.
