Review:

Physical Forces by D.D. Ayres is the 6th book in her K-9 Rescue series. Macayla (Mac), our heroine, is a pet detective.  She works for a PI firm, and usually handles missing or kidnapped pets.  Oliver Kelly, our hero, is an Australian hunk, who happens to be in town for a seminar.  While walking with his K-9 dog, Jackeroo, he spots a girl in the dumpster.  When he offers help, Mac eyes him carefully, thinking that due to his physique, he has to be a stripper from the local bar.  In a short time, Oliver finds out that Mac is trying to catch a missing dog, and helps her.  After a bit, Mac will learn that Oliver owns BARKS, a famous K-9 Search and Rescue service.  Needless to say, even if their original perceptions were off, their immediate attraction to each other was not.  What follows is a slow build romance with a couple that had sizzling chemistry, which does take a back seat, as a mystery moves forefront.

After two show dogs are found dead, Mac finds herself in trouble, since someone is trying to frame her.  She depends on her boss, Jefferina and Oliver to help her find the real culprits and absolve her.   Oliver will also learn that Mac was not always a pet detective, but instead a hero.  A year before working for child services, she saved the life of a young child; but after getting shot and losing her dog in the process, Mac left it all behind.

The last half of the book escalated the mystery behind who was framing Mac, and who was behind the dog napping, which also picked up on the excitement, as well as danger element of the story.  I liked both Mac and Oliver, they were fun together. I also liked Oliver’s K-9 dog, Jackeroo, but until the end, he did not play a big part in this story.  The ending was suspenseful and exciting, as Mac finds herself in mortal danger.  Will she survive?  Will Oliver convince Mac to become part of his life and be what she was meant to do?

I am a fan of this series by D.D. Ayres, and Physical Forces was an excellent addition to the series.  If you enjoy romance, dogs, suspense, then you should read this series.

Review:

Explosive Forces by D.D. Ayres is the 5th book in her fun and exciting K-9 Rescue series.  This reads very well as a standalone, as each book focuses on different characters using K-9 dogs. In Explosive Forces, we meet our heroine, Carly Reese immediately as she is putting up the final touches on the grand opening of her new boutigue, when she closes the shop late at night.  Carly hears a dog nearby, and when she brushes it off and walks to her car, she hears the dog whimpering again.  Carly investigates the sound next door to her shop, and sees the dog in the empty store.  When she goes in, she sees a man unconscious, and at that moment a fire begins   Carly puts her own life in danger, trying to rescue the dog, and the man.  With the dogs help, Carly fights the smoke and drags the man out.

Noah Glover wakes up in the hospital, and vaguely remembers the young lady who rescued him, and cannot find his dog, Harley. Noah is now also under suspicion of starting the fire, and suspected of attempting a suicide.  Noah is a former firefighter, who is now an investigator; he knows that everyone believes he is responsible, and now must find a way to prove his innocence, as well as find the real arsonist who is framing him.

Before he is released from the hospital, he meets his rescuer, and they get off on the wrong foot, with both walking away angry.  In his investigation, Noah knows he must apologize to Carly, and to get his dog back.  What follows is an exciting, tense story that will find Noah and Carly working together to find out who is framing him, and slowly the chemistry between them becomes volatile and their new found friendship escalates to a sexy romance.

While Noah is trying to ward off those who want to arrest him, and to investigate what really happened, Carly decides to rebuild her boutique.  There was a nice side story, with Carly’s new shop, called Flawless.  Having met woman who make different kind of hand crafted accessories, Carly wants to sell these unique beautiful items, helping her business as well as the women who created them.  It was fun and interesting.  I loved Harley, the German Shepard, who played a major part in this story.

As we raced to the intense pulse pounding finish, Carly’s life is danger, and Noah is desperate to find her in time.  There were moments that had us on the edge of our seats.  D.D Ayres has once again given us a wonderful exciting fast-paced story line;  great couple, sweet lovable dog and a sexy romance.  I recommend you start this series from the start, as you don’t want to miss any of these wonderful  stories.

Review:

Rival Forces by D.D. Ayres is the 4th book in her K-9 Rescue series. This is a fun series that is always exciting,  with a great couple and wonderful dogs.  I have enjoyed each book, and Rival Forces could be the best one yet.

Yardley Summers,  our heroine, whom we met in a previous book, is one of the best K-9 dog trainers and owns Harmonie Kennels.   She is a strong, smart, savvy independent woman, and was a great heroine.  Yardley’s doctor boyfriend has disappeared, and she has been trying to use her contacts to find him

Enter Kye McGarren, who runs a K-9 rescue team in Honolulu, who had a short relationship with Yardley when they were young, and he was in training with her now deceased father.  Though it’s been 12 years since he left town abruptly, when he receives a call from his army friend, Law (a previous book hero) about some concern for Yardley; Kye will go to Washington to find out why the feds are interested in Yardley and her missing boyfriend..

When they both come face to face after a dozen years, the chemistry between them was sizzling, and despite both of them trying to avoid any kind of relationship, their attraction to each was too hot to handle.  Things quickly become a bit meddled when the boyfriend turns up injured, and then all hell breaks loose.  What follows is an exciting suspenseful storyline, where Yardley and Kye must work closely together to fight off the enemy that put both of their lives in danger.  What I loved the most, were the wonderful K-9 dogs.  Yardley’s Russian wolfdog, Oleg, whom she was training to be a guard dog, and was considered vicious.  Kye’s rescue dog, Lily, a toller K-9, was precious, as she would always show her love for Kye by jumping into his arms often, and really was a great search and rescue dog.  Lily when in rescue mode would ride on Kye’s shoulders.  Both of these dogs played a big part in this story, and I loved it.

Kye was a great hero, and also very hot;  Yardley was his match, and they made a great couple.  This was a nice sexy second chance romance, with a very likeable couple.  Rival Forces was a wonderful exciting story, with a bit of everything; suspense, romance, dogs, edge of your seat adventure, and danger.

D.D. Ayres continues to give us excellent stories in each and every book.  If you like romance suspense, I suggest you read this series and start with the first book, though they do read well as standalones.

Primal Force by D.D. Ayres – a Review

Primal ForceAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM / The Book Depository

Description
Passion is always worth fighting for…

Jori Garrison trains dogs for Warrior Wolf Pack, which provides service animals for disabled veterans. Four years ago, she was wrongly convicted of a crime—thanks to her no-good ex-fiancé. Now she just wants to live her life in peace with her beloved dogs. No men, no complications. But it’s hard to play it cool when a lethally hot male is on her tail—and the attraction is fierce, mutual, and dangerous…

PRIMAL FORCE

Lauray “Law” Batisse is a Military Police veteran who was wounded in Afghanistan. Haunted by the loss of his K-9 partner in combat, he’s reluctant to accept a service dog named Samantha into his life. But once he meets her trainer—the gorgeous Jori Garrison—he can’t fight his primal instincts. And neither can Jori. This sexy alpha male might be the only man strong enough to unleash her desires. And when unseen enemies start hunting them down, he and his new K-9 partner might be her only hope… to survive.

Review:

Primal Force by D.D. Ayres is the 3rd book in her K-9 Rescue series. This reads perfectly as a standalone, as it had nothing to do with the previous books, other than the K-9 background.

Laurey Batisse (Law) is our hero, and a damaged one at that. Law was injured in Afghanistan, losing one leg, as well as his K-9 dog, Scud. Law has a hard time with nightmares about that attack, which he has a hard time controlling. He is assigned a service dog, Sam, who is very much like the K-9 dogs, overly protective of their owner, but Law is not too keen on another dog.

Jori Garrison is our heroine. Jori is an ex-con who now helps train service dogs for the Warrior Wolf Pack, which gives dogs to disabled veterans.   Jori was the one who trained Sam, and does her best to get Law to give Sam a chance.   Law finds Jori attractive, and makes it known how much he desires her. Jori does find Law sexy, but also knows how difficult it is to work with him, since he has a bad attitude.

It doesn’t take long for them to succumb to their fierce desires, which turns into a very sexy affair that each consider to be very short term. She knows Law is difficult, and doesn’t need the headaches; and Law just feels like he doesn’t deserve any happiness. While Law must deal with his PTSD, Jori has her own issues. She went to prison for a crime she did not commit, and in a short time, Law makes it his business to find out the truth.

What follows is an exciting adventure that will put both of them in danger, as well as Sam. The second half of the book was very suspenseful, as Law uses his contacts in law enforcement to investigate who was really responsible for the crime Jori was accused for. Law’s own questions regarding the attack on his team, and his dog, somehow bring both items strangely close together. Secrets become unraveled, and as we race to the finish, we hold our breaths to see if Law, Jori and Sam survive.

Primal Force was a nice romance suspense, with an explosive and exciting finish. I did like Law and Jori together, though in the beginning I wasn’t crazy about him. Sam was a wonderful addition to the story, as he was a major piece of the puzzle. If you like romance, suspense, animals, and a couple that sizzles the pages, then you need to read this book.

Force of Attraction by D.D. Ayres – a Review

Force of AttractionAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository

Description:
The only thing more powerful than fear is desire…

A seasoned K-9 officer with the police in Maryland, Cole Jamison has left her old life behind her. With a new home and a new partner—a protective canine named Hugo—Cole is ready for fresh challenges. A crucial position on an important drug task force is exactly what she wants…until she discovers her gorgeous, infuriating ex-husband will be the DEA agent in charge.

FORCE OF ATTRACTION

Agent Scott Lucca may be a pro when it comes to undercover assignments, but this job is daunting even for him. Posing as a happy couple on the dog competition circuit means he and Cole need to get a lot closer than they’ve been in years. Playing a live-in couple should seem like a walk in the park compared to tracking a brutal criminal, but suddenly nothing could be more dangerous than the passionate fire they’ve rekindled…

Review:

Force of Attraction by D.D. Ayres is the 2nd book in her K-9 Rescue series. This series revolves around police rescue that uses K-9 dogs, and their owners. Cole Jamison is our heroine, and she is a K-9 police officer with her dog, Hugo. Cole is on the rise in her department, as she works hard to prove herself. She gets a surprise call to attend a meeting with DEA agents. While being offered an undercover mission, on a dog show competition, she gets a shocking surprise. Cole finds out that her partner in this mission will be her ex-husband, Scott.

Scott Lucca has never gotten over Cole, whom he lost due to his reckless undercover assignment a few years before. He is determined to prove to Cole that he still loves her, and it was his then assignment that screwed things up. Cole accepts the job offer, though she wants no part of Scott. What follows is a difficult assignment of pretending to be a happy couple with Scott, and working hard with Hugo, who is more a police dog, not a show dog.

While they play the part, and try to find out who in the show circuit is responsible for using dogs to bring in drugs, Scott has another issue that threatens him and his family.

It was a nice romance of a second chance at love, with Cole slowly realizing that she still loves Scott, and must find a way to trust him again. Scott worries that he has put her life in danger, as someone has discovered his identity from a previous undercover assignment and wants to hurt Scott anyway he can. The two cases make for an exciting story as we race to the final climax, with lives on the line and a surprising revelation as to the dog drug dealers. Force of Attraction was an exciting, romantic, sexy story, which I wholly recommend you to read.

Irresistible Force by D.D. Ayres – a Review

Irresistible ForceAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository

Description:
When adrenaline runs high, so does the force of desire…

For Shay Appleton, it’s love at first sight when a gorgeous stray dog is brought into the animal shelter where she works. She just knows he’ll make a terrific watch dog—and with an abusive ex who won’t let go, she needs all the protection she can get. But Shay never suspected that her new pet is actually a trained police K-9 named Bogart—until Bogart’s even more gorgeous, human partner shows up on her doorstep.

Officer James Cannon is one tall, strong alpha male who’s convinced that Shay stole his dog. But once he gets closer to the suspect, he realizes that this stubborn, independent woman not only needs a guard dog, she needs James as well. It seems that someone from her past is stalking her, and threatening her life. When danger meets desire, will James risk his career and his best friend…to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart?

Review:

Irresistible Force by D.D. Ayres is the first full length book in her new K-9 Rescue series. I had read and enjoyed the novella prior to reading this book. Irresistible Force can be read as a standalone, as it is a different story revolving around K-9 rescue dogs.

We meet our hero, Officer James Cannon, as he is spying on a cabin in the woods. He is looking for his kidnapped partner, Bogart, whom we learn later is a K-9 dog. You can tell immediately how much James loves his partner. When he confronts the person who has Bogart, he is very angry and reacts badly to the owner of the house.

Here we meet Shay Appleton, who tries to keep her dog, Prince away from this intruder. James is confused why Bogart is happy and friendly, but his anger is out of control, and he forcibly handcuffs Shay. After the local Deputy comes to Shay’s rescue, James learns that she adopted Prince a month ago. James calms down and listens to her story, finding it hard to believe, but then when Shay describes the person who brought the dog to the animal shelter to be euthanized, he realizes it was his ex, who kidnapped Bogart, and Shay actually saved his life by adopting him. Shay is now angry at how James handled her, and wants to press charges, since she also does not want to lose Prince, whom she has grown to love and depend on. But he is a police dog, and she is heartbroken as they leave.

James, ready to head home after signing release papers at the police station, feels somewhat bad for Shay, and passes by her cabin. He finds her being accosted, and comes to her rescue. All of this is in the beginning and this should tell you that it is an exciting action packed adventure, with what will turn out to be a wonderful romance, not to mention the cutest and smartest dog.

There are so many stories within that will keep your attention throughout. Shay has a hard luck life that causes her nightmares…from her childhood, to her stalker ex-boyfriend, a possible mob hit, among other things. She has suffered so much, that one scene nearer to the end, actually bothered me. But she had James and Bogart/Prince to help her. James has his own issues with his ex-girlfriend, her attempt to win him back, then to threaten him, will cause more grief and danger to Shay.

The romance between James and Shay rapidly grows in a sizzling relationship, with each having to overcome their major obstacles. I loved how James, who came off nasty early on, became so sweet and caring to Shay. Will James be able to help convince Shay to trust him?   Will Shay be able to stand up against her ex? Can Shay overcome all things that have happened to her in the past and trust love? If they stay together, what name will they choose for their dog…Bogart or Prince? 🙂

D.D. Ayres has created an exciting storyline that has everything you would enjoy…romance, suspense, action-packed, danger, tension, humor, great couple and a wonderful dog. I wholly recommend that you read Irresistible Force.

Necessary ForceAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo

Description:
It was supposed to be a sexy calendar shoot to raise money for K-9 service dogs. Photographer Georgie Flynn never expected to break all her personal rules and jump into bed with one of the hunky men posing. And after their steamy night together, she certainly never expected to see him again…despite their powerful connection.

He just didn’t count on their explosive connection rekindling. But with a deadly threat on the horizon, will he be able to keep his body’s demands in check and complete his mission?

Review:

Necessary Force by D.D. Ayres is a novella that starts off the new K-9 Rescue series. This was an exciting and sexy fast read that I finished in one sitting. Georgie Flynn is a talented photographer, who does a favor for a friend to raise money for K-9 service dogs. When we meet Georgie, she is taking pictures of the sexy hot naked guy sleeping in her bed. That was a fun start, letting our imagination run, wondering how we can get a copy of those photos. 🙂

A couple of months later, when Georgie returns home from a shoot, she finds her house ransacked. The FBI becomes involved, as there is a bomber on the loose, and they think Georgie can help them find him. She doesn’t have much choice, as she is now suspected to be part of this conspiracy. To her surprise, the agent assigned to protect her and help her find the bomber, is the man she spent the night with, and his backside picture of his marvelous physique is framed on her wall.

Brad is our hero, and he comes with a cute dog named Zander. He tries to hide the fact that he is attracted to Georgie from his superiors because he wants to help her and protect her. What follows is a suspenseful thriller where Georgie is in danger, with a stalker following her. The exciting climax was very well done, and the romance between Georgie and Brad was very sensuous. I look forward to the full length novel that will follow.
