REVIEW: SINISTER INTENTIONS is the third instalment in Kat Bammer’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS ROGUES dark, erotic, Mafia romance series, and the first instalment in the Dangerous Intentions Duet. This is heir to the Salvini Mafia, thirty-two year old, Vincenzo ‘Vince’ Salvini, and twenty-one year old, Irish Mob princess Jemma Donnelly’s story line. Jemma was first introduced in book two TAINTED DESIRE. SINISTER INTENTIONS can be read as a stand alone with out any difficulty. Told from dual first person perspectives (Vince and Jemma) SINISTER INTENTIONS follows in the wake of the arranged engagement between Matteo Salvini, and Jemma Donnelly. Jemma and Matteo want nothing to do with the marriage arranged by Vince Salvini and Jemma’s father Craig Donnelly, and from the outset Jemma is determined to run as soon as possible but Vince Salvini sees something in Jemma that stirs within his soul. Jemma has a secret that will force Vince’s hand into marriage, a secret that threatens the stability of the Salvini Mafia. What ensues is the acrimonious but building relationship between Jemma and Vince, and the potential fall-out as someone else is taking aim at our story line couple.

The world building follows a fight for power and control. Vince Salvini is the eldest son, a man who is struggling with the demons from his past but Vince never expected to find himself attracted to the woman he arranged for his brother, a woman who continually pushes all of his buttons. Meanwhile, Vince’s father is playing games with the Russian Bratva ,and Vince is about to be caught in the crossfire; and Jemma’s secrets are about to be exposed.

The relationship between Vince and Jemma is heated and turbulent. The back and forth vitriol between our story line couple barely masks a sexual attraction that pulls Jemma into the bearing that is our story line hero. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate .

The secondary and supporting characters include the return of Alex Falcone, and Jemma’s sister Fiona: Gabe Falcone, and Jemma’s sister Sophie; as well as Vince’s siblings Dante, Matteo, Hero, and Isabella, as well as their father Alfredo Salvino; Craig Donnelly, and Russian mobster Ivan Zotov.

SINISTER INTENTIONS is another story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family, relationships, and acceptance. The age-gap, enemies to lovers premise is dark, melodramatic and consuming; the characters are desperate and charismatic; the romance is limited to the palpable sexual attraction . DANGEROUS DEVOTION ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-the conflict resolution is incomplete.

This is Alessandro ‘Alex’ Falcone, and Irish Mafia princess Fiona ‘Fee’ Donnelly’s story line. TAINTED DESIRE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading book one SINFUL HONOR for back story and cohesion as many of the events in the current timeline are as of a direct result of the events in the previous book.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Alex and Fee) TAINTED DESIRE follows in the wake of the marriage of Fiona’s sister Sophie, to Mafia Don Gabriel Falcone but in an effort to protect and keep an eye on our story line heroine, Sophie and Gabriel all but kidnap Fiona, and take her on their honeymoon to Malta, where Fiona will come face to face with Alessandro Falcone, the bane of our heroine’s existence. Refusing to play their game, believing there is no longer a threat to her life, Fiona continues to act out until she finds herself reliving the past over and over again but there is a war brewing in the criminal underworld, and our heroine is about to get caught in the middle, a pawn to be sold to the highest bidder. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Fiona and Alex, and the potential fall-out as Alex must come to terms about his birthright, and Fiona discovers the reason for her parent’s hatred.

The world building focuses on dysfunctional families including the revelations about the who, how and why. Fiona has always felt like an outsider, and she will discover the why; and Alex is forced to assume a role he was born to play.

The relationship between Fee and Alex is tempestuous at best. Fiona wants nothing to do with Alessandro Falcone, and struggles with her new brother in law’s attempts to protect and guard. Alessandro is a man who feels betrayals at the darkest regions of his heart but it is the betrayal that is about to place him in the direct line of fire, inciting a war between the controlling families. The $ex scenes are provocative and seductive.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters in several members of the Russian Bratva, Irish Mob and Italian Mafia including the return of Alex’s brother Gabriel and Sophie; Alex’s right hand man Matteo and his brother Vincenzo Salvini; Fiona’s sisters Jemma and Cara as well as their Uncle Craig; Fiona’s friend Frank, and Ivan Zotov. The requisite evil has many faces.

TAINTED DESIRE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, dysfunctional family values, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark,and intense; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are desperate and dynamic. TAINTED DESIRE ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Fast forward to present day, Jeremy Mulberry is in town for work, and comes face to face with his one-night stand, the woman he never forgot, a woman running from an abusive ex but Jeremy’s life is about to come full-circle when he discovers the woman bore his son, a child he knew nothing about. With the Sormiza Cartel closing in, Felicia and her son Bobby become targets, in a game of betrayal and revenge. Seven years would pass before they would come face to face, seven years in which neither one forgot about the other. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters from both of the aforementioned series- SECURITY OPERATIONS GROUP BRAVO and the Moon Lake Protectors series. There is definite camaraderie and friendships, as well as familiarity between the the characters from both series.

SHARP EDGE is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, obsession and madness, forgiveness and love. The premise is intriguing, engaging and exciting; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are desperate and dynamic.
