Description:
When Victoria Langford got engaged, she told herself to give love a chance. Six months later, she’s on the run from her angry, abusive ex-fiancé with her four-year-old daughter and nowhere to go.

Seventy miles north of Dallas, the Iron River Ranch is pretty much nowhere. That’s what its new owner, Josh Cain, wanted when he came back from Afghanistan. Big skies, quiet nights, no trouble.

One look tells Josh the pretty redhead with the adorable little girl will give him trouble of the most personal kind. But he’s seen trouble before, and he doesn’t scare easy. Not when “accidents” start happening around the ranch. Not when Tory’s best friend back in Phoenix is abducted and brutalized. Not even when it looks like their current problems are only the tip of the iceberg.

But if he gets too close to fierce, determined Tory, Josh knows his nights are going to be anything but quiet. And that’s one possibility no amount of training can prepare him for . . .

Review:

Beyond Control by Kat Martin is the 3rd book in her Texas Trilogy series.  As normal with a Kat Martin book, this was an exciting intense story line that had a bit of everything; action, suspense, romance, great couple, and an evil villain.

Victoria Langford (Tory) is on the run with her 4 year old daughter, trying to be one step ahead of her ex-fiancée, who is abusive, controlling and obsessed with her.  Her ex will go to any length to find her and get her back to Phoenix.  Tory has suffered badly, and in her last escape from him, she used a stun gun to enable her get away again.   She ends up in Texas , and when she sees an ad for a ranch hand, Tory applies.

Josh Cain, our hero, is a former marine who is rebuilding his ranch, and needs help.   Josh has two disabled ranch hands who are also former marines,  and when he meets Tory, he turns her down, telling her he wants a man for the job.  Tory claims she is hard worker and begs him to give her three days to prove her worth.  Josh will give in, knowing she would be gone in three days.

Tory does prove her worth, especially since she manages to win over Satan, the horse no one can handle.  There is something about the way Tory talks to Satan, whom she starts calling Star, and slowly the horse allows her to be closer.  Josh gets a neighbor to help with Tory’s daughter, so that she can work more.  Josh also senses that Tory is running away from someone.  This will bring him closer to Tory and her cute daughter, who doesn’t trust men, as she has seen her mother beaten often.

When Tory’s best friend is beaten and shot, she will tell Josh the truth about her violent ex, who will never stop looking for her.  I will say that her ex was a nasty villain, and every time the chapter revolved around him, and the beatings he gave others, I found myself very tense, reading quickly to get past that chapter.  He was very evil, and bad to the bone.   When at the hospital, Josh will see the ex and threaten him to leave Tory alone.  But the villain has no qualms of killing others, and both Tory and Josh will find themselves es in danger.

When things start happening that threatens Tory, Josh, who is falling hard for Tory, will force himself into her life to help her, even if he is afraid of commitment. Their slow built romance will heat up, but Tory knows she loves Josh, but she fears that he will be in danger because of her ex.    The action in this story is non-stop, and always in the forefront, with the romance being sweet and sexy, but not overtaking the story line.  Tory and Josh were such a great couple; I loved them together, as well as the daughter and I hoped that they would find a way to stay together .

It was nice to see Josh’s family again, and the friends his brother, Linc had to help him find a way to stop the ex, as well some great secondary characters.  I do not want to give any spoilers, as there are a number of tense situations and twists.

If you enjoy action, suspense, intense thriller and a sweet wonderful romance, then you need to read Beyond Control.  Kat Martin has written another wonderful addition to this series, which kept me glued to the book, which I finished in one day.   I suggest you read this series, but Beyond Control does read very well as a standalone.

Review:

Beyond Reason by Kat Martin is the 1st book in her new Texas Trilogy series.  Beyond Reason is a fantastic read that had a bit of everything; action, suspense, romance, great couple, and a bad villain.

Carly Drake, our heroine, has just recently come home to take over her deceased grandfather’s trucking business.  Before she can settle in, one of her top drivers is murdered, adding to her other problems, which includes a failing business & threats on her life.  Enter Linc Cain, our hero, who is determined to help Carly survive.  Linc, a wealthy entrepreneur, has fond memories of Joe Drake (Carly’s grandfather), who helped him when he was a kid; Linc always felt he owed his successful life to Joe. When Linc tries to buy Drake Trucking to take away her burden, she flatly refuses; Carly wants to fix things on her own.

But when things start happening that threatens Carly, Linc will force himself into her life to help her no matter how she feels.  In a short time, their romance will heat up, but neither wants any long term relationship.  The action in this story is non-stop, and always in the forefront, with the romance being sweet and sexy, but not overtaking the story line.  Linc and Carly was such a great couple, I loved everything about them.  She was a strong, independent woman, who also felt that there was no future for her in Linc’s fast paced, wealthy life.  He was a pure alpha male, determined to use his resources to help and protect Carly, and along the way he found himself falling in love with her.

The villain in this story was bad all the way through, keeping his identity hidden, and forcing Carly and Linc to do his bidding or lives will be lost.  The last half of the book was a thriller a minute, filled with attacks and even weather destruction. It was so suspenseful, with a few surprises and traitors within; but Martin did such a great job balancing the wild ride with the beautiful romance building between Linc and Carly.   I thought their chemistry was sizzling, and sweet at the same time.  Besides this great couple, the secondary characters were also very good. I cannot wait to read more about them in the next two books of this trilogy.

If you enjoy action, suspense, thriller and a sweet wonderful romance, then you need to read Beyond Reason.  I was impressed with how well it was written by Kat Martin, as she held my attention throughout the entire book, and I could not let go.  Awesome read.

Watching him in action is intoxicating. But her fight with Rudy Vance is fiercely personal. If he gets too close, Brodie will find out just how ferocious she can be . . .

Review:

Into the Firestorm by Kat Martin is the 3rd book in her Boss Inc. series. Even though being the 3rd book in this series, This reads very well as a standalone, as we get to meet the previous members of Boss Inc.

Emma Cassidy is our heroine, and we meet her at the start.  A flash from the past, shows Emma arriving home to find her housekeeper murdered and her niece, Ginny terrified.  In current time, Emma’s  sister and niece are now in the witness protection system, to protect them from the sister’s ex boyfriend, who is obsessed with her daughter, having raped her a few years before.  Emma is determined to find the culprit, Rudy Vance and stop him from hurting her family again.  Emma, is now a bounty hunter, privately searching for Vance;  her looks are to her advantage, as she is strong and tough, with the men she apprehends not take her seriously.

Luke Brodie, our hero, was an ex-military, who now one of the brothers who run BOSS, Inc. and he considered the toughest and best  bounty hunter.  When he sees Emma handle herself to complete the same assignment  that he was on, Luke will try to learn more about her.  They discover that they are both searching for the same man, Rudy Vance; though for different reasons.  Luke because the money is good, and knowing how Vance is evil; and Emma for her own personal reasons.

What follows is an intense exciting action filled adventure where Luke and Emma join hands to work together to find Vance before he finds Ginny.  Emma is determined to help Luke every step of the way, and despite his fears for her safety, he knows he can’t stop her.  I loved how Emma was such a strong heroine, being able to stand beside Luke as they fought dangerous situations.  This was not only an exciting story line, with an evil villain, the FBI and the witness protection played a big part of the story.

Luke finds himself falling hard for Emma, as she does with him. The chemistry between them was scorching hot.  But Luke is determined despite his feeling for Emma to let her go when this case was over.  He has always thought that due to his violent years in his dark military life, he was too dangerous to ever have a serious relationship and have a normal life.  Will Emma be able to convince Luke of her love and to trust her?  Will they both survive the evil Vance and save Ginny?

This was a great story that had me turning the pages anxiously, as I could not put the book down.  Kat Martin did a great job with this fantastic thriller, and in creating a wonderful couple.
