REVIEW: WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is the third and final (?) installment in Katie Lane’s adult, contemporary THE OVERNIGHT BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series focusing on the Beaumont siblings–Deacon, Nash and Grayson Beaumont; three brothers from the Louisiana Bayou who inherited controlling stocks in their uncle’s dying business-French Kiss Lingerie. This is French Kiss Lingerie co-owner and artist Grayson ‘Romeo’ Beaumont, and Chloe McAlister’s story line. We were first introduced to Chloe in the previous story line wherein our heroine finds herself on the run from more than an abusive ex. WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory, I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Grayson and Chloe) WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE focuses on the building relationship between artist and painter Grayson Beaumont-one of the co-owners of French Kiss Lingerie, and Chloe McAlister- a young woman running from her past. For six months Grayson has been in an artistic slump. He has lost his ‘muse’, and is suffering from ‘painter’s block’ but when his brother Deacon needs time off with the arrival of his first born, and his other brother Nash is honeymooning on a tropical island, Grayson finds himself the man in control of French Kiss Lingerie when Chloe McAlister walks back into his life. Chloe is in desperate need of a quick influx of cash, and has reconsidered Grayson’s request to pose for a nude painting by our story line hero. What ensues is the push and pull, back and forth of attraction and sexual energy between two people whose lives connected six months earlier. Chloe is on the run; her past has caught up; and our heroine finds herself Grayson’s prisoner as he steps in to protect her from her past and herself.

WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is a story line fraught with betrayal, secrets, lies and misunderstanding. The relationship between Chloe and Grayson struggles as Grayson is unable to move forward but Chloe is a woman determined to help save the man with whom she is falling in love. Grayson is a man unable to let go of the past-a past whose memories are no longer in reach. The $ex scenes are erotic, intense and seductive.

All of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles including Deacon and Olivia (A Billionaire Between the Sheets), and Nash and Eden (A Billionaire After Dark), as well as the Beaumont patriarch Donny John: PA Kelly and her new husband/lawyer Jason struggle with their attempts at starting a family; and Eden’s hippie grandparents whose love of ‘magical brownies’ is humorous and fun. The reader is witness to Deacon and Nash’s continuing stories as they begin the next step on their journey of life.

WAKING UP WITH A BILLIONAIRE is an intriguing story; an emotional and heartbreaking tale about one woman whose life was destroyed six years earlier; and about one man who is desperate to reclaim what was lost. There are moments of pain and loss; drama and revenge; falling in love and letting go of the past. The premise is engaging and enjoyable; the characters are passionate, refreshing and animated; the romance is fated and challenging. The epilogue fast forwards several years where we get a glimpse into the expanding Beaumont family and the sibling dynamics.

This is French Kiss Lingerie owner Nash Beaumont, and reporter/ bar tender Eden Huckabee’s story line. A BILLIONAIRE AFTER DARK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Nash and Eden) A BILLIONAIRE AFTER DARK follows reporter Eden Huckabee as she goes undercover as an escort to expose the seedy underworld of prostitution and escorts services in San Francisco. What ensues is a late night encounter with a ‘client’ known only as the ‘Dark Seducer’- a client whose kinky wants and needs find our heroine entering a domain she knows nothing about. When the escort service mistakenly believes that Eden is setting up her own nightly business, not only is Eden threatened, but so too, are the other girls who inadvertently allowed Eden to ‘entertain’ one of their clients.

The relationship between Eden and Nash is one that begins as a professional service but Eden’s inexperience throws a bit of a wrench into Nash wants and needs. Nash is a man with a dark and secreted past-a past filled with heartbreak and betrayal that have shaped the man that Nash has become. Eden is a woman on a mission; determined to make it in the world of investigative journalism but finds herself falling in love with the man she is using to uncover the truth. The $ex scenes are seductive and provocative. Eden’s lie of omission about the investigation finds our heroine alone when the truth is finally revealed.

The secondary and supporting characters include Nash’s brothers Grayson, and Deacon ( A Billionaire Between the Sheets ), as well as Deacon’s wife Olivia, and her step-mother whose own love life is about to implode. PA Kelly, and her fiancée / lawyer Jason return as they prepare for their own upcoming nuptials. And of course, Eden’s hippie grandparents-the Beaumont’s nudist neighbors-make for some entertaining scenarios.

The world building continues to focus on the rehabilitation of The French Kiss Lingerie company, and the Beaumont Brothers endeavor to design comfortable but sexy lingerie. The reader is also brought into the family dynamics-the history of the Beaumont siblings, their father Donny John, and the mother who died too young.

A BILLIONAIRE AFTER DARK is an emotional story line about one man’s dark past that has tormented his adult life; about one woman trying to make it big as a journalist in a world of which she is unprepared; and about a couple who fall in love but are destroyed by betrayal and lies. The premise is fateful and dramatic; the characters are charismatic, inspiring and fun; the romance is passionate, emotional and somewhat destructive-lies, even by omission, make for awkward bedfellows when the truth is revealed in black and white.

Told from dual third person perspectives A BILLIONAIRE BETWEEN THE SHEETS focuses on the French Kiss lingerie company, and the new owners Deacon, Grayson and Nash Beaumont-three brothers from the Louisiana Bayou who inherited controlling stocks in their uncle’s dying business. Deacon, Grayson, Nash and their father Donny Jon Beaumont are the poor Beaumont’s from the other side of the tracks, and it has been years since their uncle wanted anything to do with this side of the family. Enter Olivia Harrington, their uncle’s step daughter, and the woman who offers the brothers fifty-million dollars each for their shares in French Kiss lingerie. What ensues is Deacon’s endeavor to save the company from bankruptcy while fighting off his feelings for Olivia Harrington.

The storyline follows the building relationship between Olivia and Deacon, and Deacon’s desire to destroy the man who left everything he owned to the Beaumont brothers. We are also introduced to several employees of French Kiss lingerie including PA Kelly, attorney Jason, and French designer Babette who likes to bedazzle men’s thongs and underwear; and Olivia’s eccentric and naked neighbors who are more like former hippies than aging members of society.

A BILLIONAIRE BETWEEN THE SHEETS has a little bit of everything: intrigue, mystery and suspense; sex, romance and love; family secrets, lies and misunderstandings. The premise is entertaining and fast paced; the characters are colorful, animated –the Beaumont brothers are full of mischief and fun; the romance is a roller coaster ride to a happily ever after. Katie Lane’s A BILLIONAIRE BETWEEN THE SHEETS is a fun, flirty and great introduction to a new series about billionaire brothers and the women they love.
