Please note that Amityville Horrible will only be available as a signed, limited edition, with a much smaller print run than our other novellas by Kelley. We won’t be able to offer this title to large online retailers or wholesalers, so a direct order is your best bet. If you have a copy of Kelley’s novella, Forbidden on order, we’ll automatically match your number.

“I don’t run from ghosts.”
His voice, right at my ear. “You will.”

Jaime Vegas—spiritualist, entertainer and, unbeknownst to her audience, real-life necromancer—swore she’d never do another reality ghost show after the last fiasco. But when she’s railroaded into a charity gig, she finds herself back on the set, this time with a cast of photogenic college kids, an up-and¬-coming Russian spiritualist, and a tale of missing girls and murder in New England. It’s cheesy, but that’s show business. With her werewolf Alpha lover, Jeremy Danvers, along to keep her nights interesting, it’s not so bad really. Until the bloody ghosts show up. Jaime has never faced spirits like these, and no matter how hard she tries, they won’t be ignored.

Then he wakes naked in the woods, surrounded by wolf tracks and a ring of suspicious cops. The situation only gets worse when he’s bailed out by Alpha-elect Elena Michaels and Clayton Danvers, her terrifying enforcer and mate.

Disappointed that such a promising young werewolf risked exposing them, Elena isn’t expecting anything from the pesky retrieval job except some much-needed alone time with Clay. Instead, she finds a different kind of evil stalking the streets and forests of Westwood, New York. CHAOTIC (Women of the Otherworld) by Kelley Armstrong-a review

CHAOTIC (Women of the Otherworld) by Kelley Armstrong- a review

At Moonlight Gleam’s Bookshelf this is the 8th month in her Women of the Otherworld challenge. The featured book this month is PERSONAL DEMON focusing on Hope Adams and her struggles as a 1/2 demon who feeds off of chaos.  But I have chosen a different path this month and I will review CHAOTIC.

CHAOTIC is a novella in the Women of the Otherworld series that witnesses Hope as she meets Karl Marsden for the first time-basically a prequel to their relationship.  I hope you enjoy this series as much as we do.

CHAOTIC by Kelley Armstrong

CHAOTIC is a novella in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. The short story was first published in the anthology Dates From Hell, but was released in ebook format January 2012. Chaotic features half-demon Hope Adams and werewolf Karl Marsden. The readers were first introduced to Karl in Kelley’s first novel of the Otherworld series-Bitten.

Hope Adams is a half-demon, who thrives on chaos. As a journalist working for a tabloid newspaper, chaos is the perfect set-up for her powers- finding and reporting news from the world of the paranormal. But, a tabloid journalist is the perfect cover for investigating the evil side of the paranormal world. Thinking she has been sent on assignment for the Council of Interracial Beings, Hope is sent to a charity function at a local museum, waiting for a story to break.

Karl Marsden is a werewolf, whose current occupation-that of a thief-has led him to the museum function, hoping to steal a rare collection of diamonds and jewels. Karl is the epitome of the handsome rogue-well dressed, debonair and extraordinarily handsome. But an accidental encounter with a beautiful woman has left him shaken. And now, this same woman is shadowing his every move throughout the museum.

When Hope witnesses Karl’s theft of the jewels, she believes it is her duty to make an arrest on behalf of the Council, but when she calls to report the theft to her ‘superior’ at True News-Tristan Robard-she is surprised when Karl points out that the Council does not have ‘agents’ in the field. Disgruntled and confused, Hope questions Tristan about her latest assignment, only to find out that she is holding a werewolf hostage, in a janitorial closet, waiting for the Council to apprehend the thief.

As a chaos demon, Hope thrives on other people’s anxiety and fears. Embarrassed by the inherited traits, Hope sets out in search of some chaotic activity and chances upon death and fear, a feeling that someone has been murdered. When she stumbles upon a dead security guard, Karl is close behind, scenting the blood. Thinking she can escape the werewolf, Hope hides in the ventilation system, only to find that Tristan Robard is one of the men, searching the museum for victims.

When Karl confronts Tristan regarding his business with the Interracial Council, Tristan reveals, that it is not Council business that brings him to the museum, by a vendetta against Karl-for past transgressions, and Hope, was his means to an end. Tristan is a sorcerer, who was aware of Hope’s chaos-demon side, and ‘hired’ Hope with the intention of using her need for chaos, to lead him to Karl. Karl soon recognizes that Tristan has no intention to letting them leave the building alive.

Forcing an escape, Hope and Karl, once again find themselves trapped inside the ventilation system, trying to out maneuver the sorcerer and his demon guards. When they finally reach a safe area, a sudden feeling of chaos overwhelms Hope and the appearance of more demons, threatens their safety. But battling the guards is easier, when your partner is a werewolf with supernatural strength. When Hope and Karl find themselves outside, they head for her house, hoping to lure Tristan into a trap. But a fatal error in judgment results in one death, several injuries and a possible future for Hope and her werewolf.

CHAOTIC is a quick read. First appearing in the anthology Dates From Hell, Chaotic introduces a new demon into the Council of Interracial Beings. By way of pairing Hope with Karl Marsden, the werewolves and the sorcerer Cabals will overlap in many future storylines. Karl’s first appearance in Bitten is a far cry from his character in Chaotic. As a member of Jeremy Danver’s pack, Karl must now abide by the laws of the pack or face expulsion or death. With Hope, there is a renewed interest in what happens to Karl, as well as what the future holds for this couple. I am a fan of Kelley Armstrong, and it saddens me that Kelley is ending her Otherworld series with her final novel Thirteen. But Kelley has promised a line of short stories, novellas and updates, so that the fans will still get a taste of the werewolves we know and love. And Hope’s family will play a major role in THIRTEEN.

NO HUMANS INVOLVED (WOTO #7) by Kelley Armstrong-a review

NO HUMANS INVOLVED by Kelley Armstrong

NO HUMANS INVOLVED (Women of the Otherworld #7) by Kelley Armstrong

NO HUMANS INVOLVED is the 7th full length novel in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. Featuring Jaime Vegas and Alpha leader Jeremy Danvers, No Humans Involved will see Jaime get her man/wolf, and we will see a side of Jeremy that we never knew existed.

As a television personality renowned for her ability to ‘speak to the dead’ necromancer Jaime Vegas was invited to participate in a live televised taping of with some of the best in the business, but little did anyone know, that Jaime is the only true necromancer and she has uncovered a mysterious burial ground right under their noses.

Relaying the information to Elena, Jaime would find help in the form of American Pack Alpha Jeremy Danvers-a man she has been struggling to get him to acknowledge her existence. But every time she is in his presence her inner geek and dufus take over. And to her surprise Jeremy will reveal that he has noticed Jaime for several years, but his duties and his quiet reserve have held him back.

Jaime and Jeremy will uncover a cult-like group of people hoping to bring the dead back to life. But while they are searching for the grounds outside the hotel, they will uncover a mass grave of young children, long thought to be runaways or missing.

Eve Levine and Kristof Nash return to help Jaime communicate with the spirits of the children and help them crossover: Karl is called in when Hope and Jaime go missing and find themselves imprisoned by the ones hoping to gain power using an ancient ritual: and Jeremy and Jaime’s relationship will take the next step when Jaime finds herself the girlfriend to the American Alpha.

NO HUMANS INVOLVED is one of my favorite storylines in Kelley’s WOTO series. I am a fan of the werewolves and Jeremy tugs at my heart. When he finally finds his mate, he is NOT your typical alpha male but it takes a strong feminine woman like Jaime to tame his inner beast. Jaime’s seduction of Jeremy is one of the smexiest seductions in Kelley Armstrong’s WOTO series.

ANGELIC by Kelley Armstrong-a review

Angelic by Kelley Armstrong-a review

ANGELIC (Otherworld Series Novella) by Kelley Armstrong

ANGELIC by Kelley Armstrong is a Women of the Otherworld novella focusing on Eve Levine, the ½ demon ½ witch daughter of Lord Demon Baal, mother of Savannah and lover to Cabal heir Kristof Nash-only she is a part time ghost and part time Angel. Working for the Fates 6 months of the year, Eve’s latest assignment will have her discover that the latest djinn uprising is well organized and powered by an angelic force once thought to be a friend. The djinn Dantalian wants early parole from his prison, and will use anyone or anything, including dissension among the ranks.

Eve continues her disregard for her assignments. As one of the heavenly executioners, Eve wields plenty of power and puts fear in to the supernatural bad guys in the otherworld realm. But when she finds herself facing her own list of sins, she knows that the djinn are stalling for time. Hoping for some heavenly advice, Eve contacts a couple of fellow angels to help research her way back to the djinn.

As the story progresses, Eve soon learns that friends in high places are sometimes the ones sending you on a fools errand. Finding herself in a battle for her otherworldly life, Eve must confront a friend as she realizes even Angels fall if the price is right.

ANGELIC is a short story in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. Although not necessary to the Otherworld premise, Angelic is like many of Kelley’s novellas where she adds an additional storyline for some of our favorite characters. Angelic is no longer available in paper book format, therefore an ebook copy is the only way to go. If you like Kelley’s Women of the Otherworld series, you will enjoy Angelic.

BROKEN (WOTO #6) by Kelley Armstrong-WOTO Challenge

BROKEN-WOMEN OF THE OTHERWORLD #6-by Kelley Armstrong

August is the 6th month in the Women of the Otherworld Challenge hosted by MOONLIGHT GLEAM’S BOOKSHELF. THIRTEEN (released July 2012) was the final full-length novel for Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series while the author puts Elena, Clay and Savannah on hiatus. This month’s challenge is BROKEN.

BROKEN by Kelley Armstrong-a review

BROKEN is the 6th novel in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. BROKEN continues the story of Elena, Clay and the other werewolves, but this time Elena is pregnant. As the only known female werewolf, Elena isn’t sure what to expect—literally. But when someone from her past calls in a favor, Elena knows this could be her final chance for adventure, before giving birth.

Ever since Elena Michaels discovered she was pregnant, she has been unable to concentrate. As the months pass and the pregnancy advances, shape-shifting, her ability to fight and running with the other Pack members has become increasingly difficult and worrisome. Without the benefit of prior knowledge or experience, Elena, Clay and Jeremy are cautious and reticent—if news were to spread about her pregnancy, she would become a bigger target than just Clay’s mate. When Xavier Reese, a former ‘inmate ‘ from Ty Winsloe’s compound of supernatural beings, calls in a favor, Elena jumps at the chance for the distraction. Xavier has been commissioned to find and retrieve the “From Hell” letter, supposedly one of the last known pieces of evidence and DNA from Jack the Ripper, but he requires Elena’s expertise—basically, the werewolves are the only beings who could pass through the sorcerer’s ‘spell’ protecting the document. One problem-the “From Hell” letter is currently owned by Patrick Shanahan, a sorcerer living in Toronto, and there are many ‘beings’ looking for the “letter”.

Once the letter is in their possession, a series of catastrophic events take place in the Canadian city. Witnesses report missing people, zombie-like beings, an outbreak of cholera and typhoid as well as a string of unexplained murders. It is not until the trio learns that part of the curse of the ‘From Hell’ letter, that whom ever is in possession, must make a ‘blood sacrifice’ to trigger the release of “Jack”, do they realize they may be responsible for the strange events happening in the city. And the only blood sacrifice that was made—Elena killed a mosquito containing her own blood. Meanwhile, a confused and lost soul exits the portal into the 21st century

With the blood sacrifice, a portal is opened into the otherworld, where zombies exit and people fall victim to its’ curse. But while tracking and fighting the zombies, Clay’s arm is puncture by one of the ‘undead’ and without thought of the consequences, he ignores his wounds. Without giving away too much of the plot, zombie scratches can be fatal, and a very sick and ailing Clay has only a couple of options—amputate the arm or die from infection.

When a very pregnant Elena is abducted, they come to realize, that Elena is now the target and no longer the ‘letter’. Clay and Elena’s children will be the ultimate sacrifice in a game of evil, between the mystery man from the portal and zombies wreaking havoc throughout Toronto.

Once again, Kelley introduces a few new supernatural beings such as Zoe Takana , a female vampire with eyes for Elena, and brings back the characters we love. Nick and Antonio Sorrentino are called to Canada to assist with the hunt for “Jack the Ripper”, and Jaime Vegas, a beautiful clairvoyant and necromancer (and a burr up Clay’s backside), aids the werewolves with the eradication and the return of the ‘undead’ back to their own time.

Broken is one of my favorite Women of the Otherworld storylines. Clay’s spiral into a fevered delirium is not without its’ scary moments and we watch Elena and Clay become a family with the birth of their child(ren) as we are drawn deeper into the lives of everyone involved. The birthing scene is heart warming and humorous, and you can almost hear the panic in their voices. Paige as their ‘long-distance’ birthing coach is something that can only be imagined by a writer like Kelley.

THIRTEEN (Women of the Otherworld #13) by Kelley Armstrong-a review

THIRTEEN by Kelley Armstrong -a review

THIRTEEN (Women of the Otherworld #13) by Kelley Armstrong

THIRTEEN is the final instalment in Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld series. Although the number of storylines, technically cross, into the 20s (with the many anthologies and short stories available), THIRTEEN is the last of the full-length novels. There remain many stories to be told (Morgan’s and Reese’s for example) but sadly, I understand why Kelley felt the need to close the door on the Women of the Otherworld series. I am also pleased she has announced that she has, at the minimum, three more anthologies set for release starting in 2014. Let us hope that Morgan and the others will get their stories written-nothing like introducing several new characters and never revealing the exact nature of their connection to the series.

THIRTEEN is the culmination of 10 plus years of story telling all starting with Kelley’s introductory WOTO novel BITTEN, where we were first introduced to Elena Michaels –the first and only female werewolf- and her mate and ‘sire’ Clayton Danvers. But the road to THIRTEEN began in the pages of the second story STOLEN with the introduction of Savannah Levine- a young 12year old witch left orphaned when her half-demon/half- witch mother, Eve Levine, was murdered trying to escape Ty Winsloe’s compound of imprisoned supernatural beings. Now 10 years later, Savannah is a young woman, hopelessly in love with the man who helped rescue her from Winsloe’s hold, and a major player trying to stop a 13th century child killer from successfully finding a cure for mortality and revealing the existence of the supernatural race.

Many of the WOTO characters reunite in this final chapter including the revelation that someone who was long thought dead, is very much alive-and for that reason alone-a few more storylines must be written. Kelley has exposed us to many different demons, half-demons, angels and Cabals, but THIRTEEN gathers some of the Otherworld’s nastiest demons and fallen angels in a struggle between ‘the good, the bad and the lowest of the low’. Yet the one whom you would have thought wanted to destroy the world, remains an angel behind the façade of one of most hated beings in the world of religious beliefs. And with the birth of child, comes a reunion between father and daughter, and a new Pack member who reluctantly admits that family is more important than pride.

Savannah and Adam will, at last, admit they have been dancing around each other for many years. Savannah’s proclamation that she has been in love with Adam since he ‘burned’ her initials into a heart, and Adam maintains that their age difference held him back from taking the initial steps towards a relationship will quell the angst of unrequited love. Their relationship has been frustrating throughout the series, knowing that they belonged together, but it will be Adam’s admission that he has felt the same way for a very long time.

Our favorite PACK will reunite in a short story at the end of the book-FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE. The previous Alpha will be vanquished from position in a head to head battle, a new Pack Alpha will be declared and their numbers will increase with the addition of a new member and his young family.

THIRTEEN is a fast paced, wild ride that will bring back many memories from the previous storylines. Cassandra and Aaron will sacrifice themselves to save a once-beloved Cabal member, while Jasper Haig is released to ensure Hope survives the end of the world. Many of the demon fathers make an appearance as the wall between the worlds slowly disintegrates, but the open portal will allow a beast so frightening, that even the powers of the supernatural are useless against its’ attack. THIRTEEN is a wonderful end to a fantastic series that will be missed by so many readers and friends. I would like to thank the talented Kelley Armstrong for allowing me to ride along on the amazing adventures of Elena, Clay and the Pack. They will truly be missed.

V Plates (Men of the Otherworld) a short story by Kelley Armstrong-a review

V Plates (Men of the Otherworld) by Kelley Armstrong

V PLATES (A Short Story) by Kelley Armstrong

V PLATES is a short story found in the anthology BLOODLITE III: Aftertaste (May 2012 release). A book with approximately 30 short stories by authors such as Kelley, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Jim Butcher, Bloodlite III: Aftertaste is a publication from the Horror Writers Association. And since we have been focusing on some of Kelley Armstrong’s Women of the Otherworld novels, V Plates is a rather interesting look at Nick’s new -found attempt at fatherhood.

In the novel Frostbite, we are introduced to 3 new characters werewolves: Noah the 16year old son of a former pack mate: Reese, a 20 something import from Australia on the run from his past: and Morgan- a Canadian werewolf living with a real wolf pack in Alaska. V Plates is the story behind Noah’s first foray into manhood, and Reese’s attempts to find Noah an experienced woman.

Noah was tired of being teased about his virginity. At 18, he was small for his age, and the other guys at school made it a point to tease Noah about his lack of sexual experience. And to complicate matters, Noah dumped his girlfriend in order to hook up with the school bad girl. But Reese had another idea in mind. Heading into the city, Reese had booked a night of sexual pleasure at the local brothel, and Nick was not too pleased that Noah had gone to Reese with his sexual concerns and questions.

But all too soon, the local house of ill-repute was something from a horror movie. Reese’s senses went into overload when he recognized the stench of death. When an oversexed lady-of-the-night insisted on entertaining Reese, he made sure that Nick went along for the ride. And once in the room, it would become readily apparent why Nick was suddenly Reese’s wingman. How Nick missed the scent of death is questionable, but a fight with a houseful of demons and zombies, would ensure that Noah kept his virginity for another tale.

V PLATES is approximately ONE chapter in length. Kelley has promised to write a series of shorts so that her fans would not be disappointed, and V Plates is the first of many –we hope. A lighthearted look at Nick’s attempts to raise a teenage boy and young man with only his own experiences to draw from, V Plates is a great addition to the Men of the Otherworld series. FORBIDDEN (December 2012) will focus on Morgan.
