He was mine to protect. Mine to adore. Mine to lose forever.

*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Poseidon and Icarus.*

Icarus may not have flown particularly close to the sun, but he has fallen…right into the rough hands of Olympus’s own Poseidon. Being held captive by the gentle giant wouldn’t be so bad if Olympus wasn’t on the eve of destruction…or if Poseidon stopped looking at him with those irresistibly stormy eyes.

Poseidon doesn’t have time to babysit his increasingly bratty prisoner, but he has no choice: Olympus is officially at war, and someone has to keep their best bargaining chip out of harm’s way. The thing is, the longer Poseidon is with Icarus, the more he starts to care for his sworn enemy…and the more he realizes that Icarus isn’t the villain he’s been made out to be. There’s a warmth to him, a vulnerability, that Poseidon finds difficult to ignore or deny.

Now with Circe and the Aeaens at the gate and Olympus a hair’s breadth away from falling, Poseidon will have to make a difficult choice: about himself, about his allegiances, and about the man who woke his heart from its long slumber only to threaten to break it for good...

•••••

REVIEW:SWEET OBSESSION is the eighth instalment in Katee Robert’s contemporary, adult DARK OLYMPUS erotic, urban fantasy series, a modern retelling of the gods and goddesses of Olympus. This is Poseidon, and Icarus Vitalis’ story line. SWEET OBSESSION can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including same $ex scenarios and BDSM situation, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: Not all is well in Olympus. The barrier between Olympus and the rest of the world is collapsing, and the attacks in the upper city have become dangerous and deadly. The fight for power and control within the ruling circle of Thirteen has resulted in a number of deaths-someone is determined to destroy that which is no longer theirs to control.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Poseidon and Icarus) SWEET OBSESSION follows the building romance and relationship between Icarus and Poseidon as the gods and goddesses of Olympus prepare for war. Icarus is Poseidon’s prisoner, a prisoner who is determined to ease the darkness that is choking the man with whom Icarus will fall in love but war has come to Olympus, and Icarus may have the ammunition to keep the enemy at bay.

The world building follows preparations for war as the gods and goddesses take sides in a fight for power. Family will target family, friends must take control before everything and everyone is sacrificed.

The relationship between begins when Icarus becomes Poseidon’s prisoner but Icarus suspects Poseidon is struggling with his place in Olympus, and his need to give up control to someone else. As Icarus begins a slow seduction of Poseidon, others see a potential for betrayal by someone who has already been judged. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense including same $ex scenarios and BDSM situations.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful secondary and supporting characters including the return of Hera, Zeus, Hermes, Hades and Circe.

SWEET OBSESSION is a story of power and control, obsession and acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic , intriguing and entertaining; the romance is passionate; the characters are captivating and desperate.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 13, 2025

My marriage of circumstance is proving to be the recipe to happily ever after.

Keno

Sometimes when you meet your person, you immediately click and all the pieces of your life fall into place. Instant best friends. Platonic soulmates. Hockey buddies and vacation partners.

And sometimes, you don’t even know you’ve fallen in love.

When a joke about marrying my best friend is taken seriously, we embark on making it happen. I mean, Etna makes a strong argument for marriage even though it was my teasing idea so who am I to argue? For seven months, we hurdle toward a wedding and a life together that allows us to be best friends forever.

Our days are filled with sexy banter, awkward first times, too many decisions to make, and the promise of a life that leaves me breathless. I’m marrying my best friend. What could be better than that?

•••••

REVIEW:This series has no end in sight, and that makes me happy. Each book reveals another couple and more characters, each book has been different, and although some haven’t been my favourites, all have been welcome.

This story just has all the happy vibes you could ever want. I smiled through most of the book, and when not smiling I was laughing.

Best friends that marry seems like a friendship to lovers trope? It’s so much more than that.

We also get a mention of the Van Doren family, that always makes me happy. I really like that the author is entwining that series in with this one.

Love the calendar on the front of each chapter, we know what’s coming, but I still got excited to see it.

“My husband isn’t becoming my best friend. My best friend is becoming my husband.” – Etna 💜

Keno and Etna have been friends a while, their lives are so intertwined that when a joke is mentioned that they act like a married couple, it starts the thought process , and soon it’s snowballing and taking center stage in their lives.

Small touches/kisses and cuddling is the first step as neither have ever been with a man! That too becomes second nature and both lament that they’d wish they had done it sooner.

It’s mushy, it’s cheesy, and in places corny. But i absolutely loved it.

Crea lives in upstate New York with her dog and husband. She has been writing since grade school, when her second grade teacher had her class keep writing journals. She has a habit of creating secondary, and often time tertiary, characters that take over her stories. All of her RH relationships end up being heavily polyamorous – meaning it’s not just all the men for one woman. There’s also some M/M action going on. When she can’t fall asleep at night, she thinks up new scenes for her characters to act out. This, of course, is how most of her meant-to-be-thrown-away characters tend to end up front and center – and utterly swoon-worthy! Don’t ask her how many book boyfriends she has…

If three’s a crowd, then what’s four?

A happily ever after.

All my life, my parents bounced around hippie communes, dragging me along for the shroom-fueled ride. When they announced we were moving again, I expected more of the same—group cabins, rundown shacks, or flimsy yurts. But Eternal Sun was nothing like the other places. It was a dream come true.

Until that dream plummeted into a nightmare.

When the leader of the luxurious wellness center shared where I fit into his prophecy, I was forced to run away from everything I knew and loved—including my parents. I landed a coveted job at Black Resorts and got my first taste of a normal life.

It was also where I met Cole, Marco, and Freddy.

A hot tech nerd, a mountain of a bodyguard, and a cocky chef who was also my boss. Three very different men who made me feel an intense attraction I’d never experienced before.

But then Eternal Sun stole them from me, too.

Or so I thought.

Because when things went from bad to worse, they were back. Taking care of me. Hovering over me. Annoying the hell out of me.

I tried to keep my distance. When that didn’t work, I ignored them. They didn’t let that happen, either. The longer I spent with the three possessive men, the harder it was to choose. But I had to….

Right?

•••••

REVIEW: It’s over and I am sad! Little Goddess is the third and final installment in the Black Resort series by the ever talented Layla Frost. Each book can be read as a standalone in the series, but I do recommend reading them in order. Triggers warnings early, this is a why choose romance with a bi-awakening, if that isn’t your thing, best not to read. If it is; buckle up Buttercup, it’s a wild ride!

Callie has lived a rough life, escaping a cult and now trying to make her way in Las Vegas, things aren’t going the best. Growing up and having to not only take care of herself but her parents as well didn’t leave her much time to herself, and let’s face it living in a cult isn’t the norm. When she finally has had all she can take, and goes out on her own, she finds herself working for who you guess? That’s right, funny and sweet Freddy, the Chef at the Black Resort kitchen.

Freddy and Callie hit it off right off the bat and their interactions cooking together are sweet and kind and maybe even a little flirty. While Freddy starts to develop feelings for Callie he is also struggling with his feelings for his best friend, and a secret crush he doesn’t dare tell another soul about.

-Que dramatic music-

Cole is one of the few men Maximo trusts (we all remember Daddy Max right, previous book) and Cole takes that seriously. Change is happening and poor Cole is taking hit after hit, he hates being alone, even more so now that he has moved out of the pool house, his internal turmoil over his attraction to Freddy, and then finish it off with his growing attraction to Freddy’s new employee. Poor man is living in his own personal hell. Oh and then Marco, beasty, built like a freight train, Marco. This man is the living personification of built for protection, one look at Callie and he is gone for her.

When it comes to light that all three guys are trying for Callie’s attention; they do what all guys do when it comes to more than one of them wanting the same thing. They compete, well kinda. This doesn’t last long as Callie has feelings for all of them, and Freddy and Cole also have feelings for each other. Drama and chaos ensues but oh what a book it makes.

For writing a why-choose for the first time, Ms. Layla you have knocked our socks off! The Black Resort series varies with its genres but for Little Goddess to produce a Why-Choose with an MM romance as well was such a great way to end the series. Callie, Cole, Freddy and Marco have a dynamic that works so well; Freddy and Cole share this spicy yet soft connection that brings a great add on to their relationship with Callie. And don’t count Marco out now, he may not be into guys, but he IS all about Callie, and I think that works about perfect for their little quad group. Callie grew up without much love, so for her to receive love, attention and protection from these men, it makes my heart just flutter.

There is so much more I could add, but alas, the page only holds so many words. For fans of this author and the Why-Choose genre, get, read it, love it!

Growing up, Layla Frost used to hide under her blanket with a flashlight to read the Sweet Valley High books she pilfered from her older sister. It wasn’t long before she was reading hidden Harlequins during class at school. This snowballed into pulling all-nighters after the promise of “just one more chapter”.

Her love of reading, especially the romance genre, took root early and has grown immeasurably until it was time to write her own stories.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 13, 2025

What started as a job has led to some frightening confessions.

Edin

One mistake can ruin your life. I learned that at fifteen when my hormones got the best of me and I was landed with an unwanted pregnancy. My parents decided to punish me and forced me out of the sport I love to raise my child and provide for my newly forced-upon-us-both marriage.

One mistake can cost a life. My life. If not for my best friend who rescued me and my daughter, I’d have ended it all.

It’s been three years and all I want is to embrace this new lease I have on life – my daughter, school, and hockey.

One mistake can change your life. When an “adult” job leads to some complications, I realize that maybe I didn’t build my walls high enough to keep everyone out.

Elijah

My obsession started through a screen as I edited the videos my fraternity’s basement project Confessions produces. His name is Edin and I’m enthralled. While I don’t participate in shoots often, I make an exception.

Edin is everything – Beautiful, mysterious, needy. He’s also very clearly broken. The very first time we’re together on screen, he breaks down after the shoot and I hold him for what feels like days as he trembles.

He refuses to let me into his life, no matter how many times I partner with him or run into him completely coincidentally. That is, until he has a hockey accident that leaves him bed-ridden and he needs help with his daughter.

••••

REVIEW: This book is a second generation story. All grown up and facing their own challenges.

You can read Elijah’s parents books “Wingman Score”, the fifth book in the author’s hockey series, For Puck’s Sake.” but it will only give you insight on the parents. So not really necessary to enjoy this book.

Edin was in the last book (Rumor Has It) and although it’s not needed to be read, it does give some insight as to where Edin’s head is at, but it’s repeated in this book, so it’s up to you if you read it. He’s struggled so much! And all you want is for him to be happy. But in order to be happy, he needs to heal. I don’t think his parents needed to force him to marry and be “normal!” They also force him to give up ice hockey, so Edin has nothing to ground him!

Elijah is obsessed with Edin (not in the morally grey way) he’s fascinated and intrigued by the broken man he sees. And the only way to connect with him is through the connections site that Elijah edits. So he books all of the slots and slowly makes Edin see him.

It’s not an easy book, it’s not a cute book. It raises issues that are a big deal into today’s world. It also shows that family doesn’t have to be biological, you can find your people and make them family. And Edin has this, but it takes a while for him to figure this out.

Edin’s daughter is so cute and it made me smile that she has so many people watching out for her.

I love this world. It just gets bigger and bigger.

I love the words the author leaves before and after the book, some are thought provoking, but most of it just explains the book and how she deals with her world.

Please read the trigger warnings that come with the book.

So although not my favourite series in this world, it’s still a beautifully written book and one I’d highly recommend.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 16, 2025

Sometimes stars grant you wishes that come covered in blood.

I’ve wanted one thing for as long as I can remember – someone to love, a family, and a happily ever after. I finally found it with the least likely person across the street. Our life together has been dipped in espresso and given a massive jolt forward, but we couldn’t be happier.

That is, until someone threatens that happiness and I’m forced to respond in order to protect my family that’s barely begun. I didn’t mean for this relationship to begin bathed in blood but I will do anything to protect the love I’ve waited decades for.

••••••

REVIEW: Now, I absolutely loved the first book in this series “Loren”, and I mistakenly thought Noaz was a brother to Loren. He’s not, he’s an uncle! But with that mistake sorted I inhaled this book. It was totally worth reading past my bedtime.

Characters were just so adorable, catching up with previous characters and finding out that this world is connected to the “For Puck’s Sake series” is an added bonus, it makes me want to reread that series to see if I can spot any Van Doren’s 😉 I know of one.

Noaz Van Doren is an uncle, they control New York City with their crew. But lately they’ve been feeling that they need to step back and begin their next phase/journey. Noaz isn’t your typical contract killer, they answer to either he/she/they, all depends on how they are feeling that day. They also dress accordingly.

Briar is friends with a group of people that moved recently. (Due to one of the characters in these books.) They are all the best of friends, which makes relationships a little tricky. But Briar is not sure where his life is taking him! He’s non committal about his job and he’s in between relationships at the moment, and he’s in no hurry to change either status!

What Briar secretly yearns for is a family of his own!

You don’t need to read this series in order. Other characters do crop up, but as they are family and apparently they will all get involved with the Van Doren’s at some point! and I love this series already, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of them.

It is a slow burn romance, and for one I’m glad. We needed to see how Briar, who has only ever dated girls copes with Noaz. And I loved how he just accepted them. All the shows of affection were just so sweet.

Their relationship goes from 0 to 100 in a matter of weeks…. Noaz had always planned to have a family, and adoption was really the only option (they didn’t want a surrogate, just a baby to love.)

And when the opportunity arises, Noaz is faced with a dilemma! Do they go ahead and possibly lose the love of their life? Or can Noaz have both Briar and a baby?

Things don’t go smoothly though! And Noaz is left with choices, return to being the cold killer they were, and loosing their unborn baby, or ignoring the baby’s plight to keep Briar!

What happens next? 🤫 I can’t tell you, you’ll have to read the book to find out 😉

The only problem I now have…. I have to wait for the next book. 😜

I was lucky enough to find my alpha when I was a teenager. We grew up together. Experienced all the high school sweetheart moments between us. Life should have been perfect.

Except that no pack wants an already bonded omega. I know that firsthand. It’s been ten years since we’ve started looking and we’ve visited a hundred packs through Pack Listing. None of them want an omega and her alpha.

But someone wants us. In the middle of the night, we’re abducted. Taken away, separated, and tortured – all in an attempt to break our bond. We’re somehow rescued and enrolled in the government’s protection program where we’re dumped into a home made up of other victims.

For the first time in my life, we’ve found a pack that isn’t awful. One that treats us both good; one that wants both of us. But I have to keep reminding myself that this is not my pack. We’re here by circumstance.

None of that matters. It doesn’t appear that we’re safe here, either.

•••••••

REVIEW:⚠️TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️

This isn’t one of my favourite series that this author has written, but this book…. Oh lord… I absolutely loved it.

Alpha’s are the protectors, they see to their omega’s needs. Omega’s are softer, need protection and most are happy to be homemakers. Then we have the Beta’s not needing protection, but not strong enough to protect and keep an omega. So that causes a lot of resentment from the Beta’s, they can be added into a pack, but most form packs of their own. (I always thought this was kind of sad.)

Imagine finding your Alpha when you’re in high school, the happiness that an Omega feels when she’s safe in the knowledge that she will never be alone and now will always be protected…. That’s the good part, but you are suppose to be a pack, but if established packs only want an omega, and not a paired omega with her alpha, what’s left?

This story has it all…. Happiness/desperation/kidnapping/loss and the hope of finding a family. Paired/bonded mates can’t be separated. (A bite from your alpha makes it impossible.)

Talya and Colby have known they were meant to be together since teenagers. They thought they’d find their pack, years have gone by and nothing! Alphas need an omega, what they don’t need is another alpha! And we get to witness their pain at being rejected time and again. Unit/family/affection are all they have ever wanted. It’s also easier to protect an omega if there are more of you in a pack!

Talya is not your normal omega, she stands up for herself and doesn’t back down from fight/argument.

Colby is your typical alpha. But there is also a side that feels like he’s let his omega down! He needs a pack as much as she does.

There is so much to cover in this book. And plenty I’m not going to say. But I found the kidnapping by the Beta’s both interesting and scary! They are trying to break bonds that have already been formed!

(There’s torture and violence, so be warned!)

Then we come to the center that houses other victims, Colby and Talya are enrolled into the government’s protection program, and this is where we meet other alphas/betas that have been treated in the same way!

Trust needs to be earned, and slowly that trust comes, but both Colby and Talya are wary, why would this pack be any different, just because they are thrown together, doesn’t mean they are pack! It’s sad to read at first, you know these new characters are meant to be with Colby and Talya, but they don’t trust anyone after what they’ve been through. 😞

This series doesn’t need to be read in order. Although there are characters that have been in other books. But unless you read the previous books, you wouldn’t be able to tell.

I love reading the before and after notes the author writes for us. I think it adds a little extra to the story.

I did feel this could have been a two book story, the ending felt a little unfinished! 🤔 Personally I would have liked to have seen a better ending.

But I’m still going to recommend this book to all lovers of the Omegaverse.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 12, 2024

I want something true.

Torin

Hiding behind my mascot mask has always worked in my favor. As someone with social anxiety and paralyzing shyness, the ability to be out in the world without being seen is the only way I’m able to function. It also means I can long for my crush from afar without him knowing.

I’m invisible inside my costume and try to go unseen otherwise. Except that Hugo always sees me because he’s such a sweet, kind, thoughtful man. Is it any surprise that I’m completely in love with him?

What starts out as an accidental anonymous text turns into a date but there’s just one problem. Hugo thinks he’s texting a girl. What happens when he finds out that’s not the case?

Hugo

When my closest friends all pair up, I’m left as the unpartnered ninth wheel, which becomes awkward and makes me feel out of place. That’s where my new friend, Torin, comes in.

The face behind the Surry the Seal is Torin Jonah. He’s so quiet and nice, I try to always make sure to say hi to him when I see him. It’s not hard to make sure someone knows that you see them.

We start hanging out all the time – having sleepovers, platonic cuddling, maybe a little throwback to teenage mutual jerking sessions in the shower amongst bros. When I tell him that I’ve been talking to this girl and I think I like her, suddenly I feel like I’m being unfaithful to him.

Now I’m not sure what to do. Date this girl or maybe see if Torin could possibly be interested in me and see what happens.

•••••

REVIEW:I absolutely loved this book. It’s my second favourite in this series.

Yes it’s a slow burn (but I’m so glad it was) is there plenty of hockey? (yes there is) do we catch up with regulars from the series? Absolutely.

Torin although part of this series, hasn’t really been seen in previous books. He’s the clubs mascot. Hidden behind a mask is just how Torin likes it. Suffering from crippling anxiety meant Torin can’t really get a job that he’s seen! So hiding gives him a wage and a sense of purpose.

Torin also has a HUGE crush on Hugo. It started also as soon as Torin spots Hugo, and when he says hi, or waves to him, it just makes his crush grow.

But Hugo is straight, and Torin wouldn’t ever put himself in a position to say hi.

Hugo is a defender, it’s his job to keep the puck away before it gets to the goal. He’s a big guy, and has been told often he’s just a “jock”, he’s been told to think before he speaks as he often offends! He loves his team mates, and he loves what he does…..

But….. Hugo is lonely! He’s watching his friends pair off and find their happy ever afters. And the puck bunnies don’t really hold any interest for him anymore. (In fact, there is a part in here that makes me 😱 and then 😢)

Torin starts the ball rolling by accidentally texting Hugo! (I’m not going to give that part away, as I did chuckle at that incident.) Hugo responds, and they start a conversation…..

Meanwhile Hugo has started coming over and saying hi to Torin, and a friendship begins…..

Hugo is socially awkward, he just says whatever he thinks or feels. (Not really the done thing, but I found it endearing) he likes the friendship that is growing between Torin and him, but he’s also looking forward to the texts he receives from his new friend. And as his feelings for both of the people, start to grow, he has to make a choice….

So what happens when Hugo goes on a date with his text “girl” and meets the man who has slowly taken over Hugo’s every waking moment?

OMG!! There is apart in here, that absolutely broke me 😢 I kept fingers, toes and everything in between crossed 🤐

The storyline is absorbing, the characters had my attention from the first word, until the last one. I just wanted this story to go on and on and on.

I like the words we get from the author in the beginning of her book, and at the end. Usually very thought provoking.

When not writing, Crea is an avid reader. Her TBR pile is several hundred books high (don’t even look at her kindle wish list or the unread books on her tablet). Sometimes, she enjoys crafting; sometimes, exploring nature; sometimes, traveling. Mostly, she enjoys putting her characters on paper and breathing life into them. Oh, and sleeping. Crea loves to sleep!
