ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 13, 2023

He never expected to feel this kind of heat again…

FBI agent Ollie McKee is burned out on relationships. After a head-spinningly on-again/off-again relationship with his former fiancée, he’s been out of the dating pool for years. Now he’s focused on his career—and it’s getting more intense. Because Ollie’s ex was just kidnapped, and despite the rules, he’s resolved to work the case and find her.

Stark Security agent Trevor Barone knows better than to fall for a friend, especially one who’s straight. But there’s no denying the way his heart and body react around Ollie, especially after the last quick mission they worked together. He swore to himself to keep his distance. But now Ollie’s begging for his help. The woman he once loved—maybe still loves—has been kidnapped, and Ollie’s determined to bring her home alive. Trevor’s not about to let his friend down, but as they work the case together, the attraction and connection between them can’t be denied.

When the kidnappers turn deadly, Ollie and Trevor put their lives in each other’s hands. But can they trust the passion that threatens to consume them both?

REVIEW: TANGLED WITH YOU is instalment 7.6 in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult STARK SECURITY erotic, romance series, a part of the 1001 Dark Nights multi-authored series. This is attorney turned FBI agent Ollie McKee, and Stark Security agent Trevor Barone’s story line. TANGLED WITH YOU can be read as a stand alone but for back story regarding Trevor and Ollie’s relationship, I recommend reading HIDDEN WITH YOU and CHARMED BY YOU. Ollie McKee has been apart of the Stark World Series since the beginning.

NOTE: TANGLED WITH YOU is an LGBTQ+ story line focusing on a same $ex couple.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Ollie and Trevor) TANGLED WITH YOU follows the building relationship between attorney turned FBI agent Ollie McKee, and Stark Security agent Trevor Barone. Ollie McKee and Nikki Stark have been best friends for years. Ollie has been a part of Nikki’s life for as long as he can remember, having fallen in love with his best friend years before but Ollie is restless, unable to settle down, finding himself attracted to Stark Security Agent Trevor Barone. Ollie has always considered himself heterosexual but something about Trevor calls to Ollie’s McKee but all does not go according to plan when Ollie’s ex girlfriend is kidnapped, and a three million dollar ransom demand addressed to Ollie pulls our story line couple into a case of life and death. What ensues is the building relationship between Ollie and Trevor, and the potential fall-out as the intended victim may be someone else.

The relationship between Ollie and Trevor has been building for several months but Ollie had always thought of himself as ‘straight’, and Trevor was burned by a previous love. As Ollie and Trevor begin to act on their attraction, the kidnapping of Ollie’s ex-girlfriend is about to bring everything into perspective. The $ex scenes are intimate and erotic.

The secondary and supporting characters have all been introduced in previous story lines with the welcome return of Damien and Nikki Stark, and Nikki’s bestie Jamie Hunter.

TANGLED WITH YOU is a fast paced story of vengeance and betrayal, jealousy and obsession, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and determined.

As soon as Trevor was alone, he exhaled, his entire body relaxing. He was being a selfish ass, and he knew he shouldn’t have come by, especially not without calling first.
He had a solid friendship going with Ollie, and he didn’t want to ruin it because he was acting like a schoolboy who didn’t know how to handle a crush.
But he did have a crush. And if he didn’t dial it back, he was going to ruin a friendship he truly valued.
Ollie was straight. Or if he wasn’t, he wanted to be. He’d had a lifelong crush on Nikki Stark, which everyone knew. Trevor was pretty sure he’d slept with Jamie at some point. And he knew that Ollie had been engaged to a woman named Courtney.
Straight. The guy was straight.
Even if there was a thread of queer in Ollie’s blood, he’d spent a lifetime either ignoring or suppressing it. The man was a good friend. That was all.
Trevor needed to get that through his thick head. And the sooner he did, the better.
Too bad his libido kept ignoring that very sound advice. Ollie had rung all his bells since the first time he’d met the attorney-turned-FBI-agent when their paths crossed back when poor Anne had been kidnapped. But their friendship had truly solidified not long ago at a party they’d both attended in honor of Jamie’s first starring role in Intercontinental.
By then, he’d been crushing hard, and it had only gotten more intense when Ollie had pulled him in to help on an FBI money laundering sting at the Mercury Club, a gay strip bar in LA. Trevor had wormed his way in as an actual stripper, and Ollie had posed as a customer. The operation had lasted a couple of weeks, and Trevor’d had plenty of time to watch Ollie in the audience. To see what he thought was a spark of interest in his friend’s eyes.
Maybe he’d been imagining it, but he didn’t think so. And that spark had lit a fire under his own desires, raising the heat from slow burn to full-on boil.
But real or not, Trevor knew damn well that Ollie was fighting it.
Honestly, crushing on a straight guy was a pain in the ass.
He could tell himself that forever, but it didn’t stop the tightening in his chest or the sparks of awareness that shot through him when Ollie returned carrying the folding chair. He was wearing paint-splattered jeans and a similarly stained white tee that did nothing to hide the fact that the guy was in great shape. He’d heard Jamie tease him for being skinny, but Trevor didn’t see it. Maybe before Trevor knew him, but if so, the guy had filled out. Ollie had always looked pretty damn delicious to him, with solid pecs, strong arms, and a tight ass that he really wanted to grab.
And so much for that whole dialing it back thing.

Description:
Once I was a Charmer, and the magical beasts of this world loved me. Now I’m something else. Something darker.

As a member of the Charmers Council, Gaige is able to form lasting bonds with the magical beasts of his world. At least, he used to be a Charmer…until he died and was brought back as one of the immortal assassins of Cruor. Now he’s far more dangerous.

…and something beyond the shadows lies in wait, hungry to claim him for its own.

As leader of the assassins, all Kost can do is watch as Gaige struggles with his new life day by day. He wants nothing more than to ease Gaige’s suffering–yet how can he when they both know he’s the one responsible? There is nothing left but bitter memories and hopeless longing between them. Yet when Gaige is lost to the shadow realm, Kost is the only one with any chance of bringing him back: if they can learn to trust (and perhaps love) each other again.

Review:

Shadows of the Lost by Maxym M. Martineau is the 1st book in her Guild of Night series. This series is a spinoff of Martineau’s wonderful Beast Charmer series.   Shadows of the Lost focuses on Kost and Gaige, with Oz and Caleb and many of our favorite characters playing big parts in this story.

Gaige was a Beast Charmer, taming magical beasts, who loved him; but he died, and was brought back as one of the immortal assassins of Cruor.  Kost, is the leader of the assassins, and he sees how Gaige is struggling to handle the shadows; together with Oz and Caleb, they try to train Gaige. Though it’s been many years, Kost still has feelings for Gaige (LGBTQ), and now that he is an Undead, he finds it difficult to resist him.   Gaige fights off his nightmares with the shadows, and soon realizes there is something pulling him into those dreams.  When Gaige tells the others that it is not his shadows that is creating havoc with the beasts all over; Kost agrees there is something more dangerous. .  Leena (great to see her again) helped Gaige to be able to be with the Beasts he loved. In a short time, both Gaige and Kost succumb to their feelings, as their emotions and love proved how good they were together

When Gaige disappears, the whole team, Ozais, Caleb, Kaori, Isla, Raven realize that a very powerful old mage has taken Gaige. Kost, Ozais, Caleb and Isla enter the Shadow Realm to find and save Gaige.

What follows is an exciting, intense, action-packed adventure to find the evil mage. The villain in this story was extremely powerful, taking control of minds and absorbing them. The battles to fight were intense and intriguing, and as we raced to the climax; we were on the edge of our seat to see who will survive.  To say too much more would be spoilers, and you need to read this book in its entirety. I loved seeing so many characters from the previous series, including Noc and Leena; as well as the Beasts that we loved.

Shadows of the Lost was an amazing and epic high fantasy, wonderful romance, great characters, and mythical beasts.  This was a tale of love, danger, courage, dark shadows, monsters, camaraderie, with wonderful world building.  Maxym M. Martineau has once again given us a fantastic start to this new series, which was so very well written.

Drew stared out over the water as he spoke, thinking about his life, how lucky he was that he could be himself, and how so many guys in his position couldn’t do that. He was surprised when Kevin leaned toward him and rested his head against Drew’s shoulder.
“Drew?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you think there’s any hope for me?”
Drew chuckled. “Sometimes I wonder if there’s any hope for me. But I’m still breathing, and you know what they say—where there’s life, there’s hope.”
“Yeah. Hope.” Kevin got quiet, and Drew waited. “I’ve got to find some hope,” he finally said.
“What do you want your hope to look like?” Drew asked, wondering what Kevin would say.
In a voice that was almost a whisper, Kevin said, “Oh, I dunno. Six feet two inches, light brown hair, and pale blue eyes, all in the best-looking package I’ve ever seen. And a heart as big as Texas.”
Something clicked in Drew’s chest, and he turned and took Kevin’s face in his hands, then kissed him. At first, Kevin seemed surprised, but then he moved into Drew and kissed him back.
Drew wanted that kiss to go on forever. It was without a doubt the most passionate kiss anyone had ever given him, and it was delicious and warm and sweet. He could feel his pulse throbbing in his temples and his heartbeat quickening, and all he could think about was Kevin naked in his bed, skin against skin and their arms locked around each other.

A touch so intimate, a kiss so deep…

Egon Wolf is on a hockey scholarship but failing at everything else. Knowing he’s going to lose his ride if he doesn’t get his academic act together, he seeks out a tutor.

Rakesh Aahnu is a dual major and dangerous when bored. What he enjoys more than anything is the challenge of making straight men fall for him before walking away. Just because he can.

But both Egon and Rakesh are about to discover that life has a way of throwing you in the sin-bin when you least expect it.
And when faced with an unfamiliar play?

All you can do is shiver.

•••••

REVIEW: It’s just m/m in this book. And to be honest I loved it. This author can be relied upon to get our pulses racing with multiple partners and established groups. So I did wonder how only two bodies would fill the page. I need not of worried, Egon and Rakesh fill those pages just nicely thank you.

Egon Wolf is a hockey player with a problem! His grades are slipping! And if they fall any further he’s off the team and out of college (he’s on a scholarship) so he needs a tutor, luckily his hockey coach has a genius on hand to help him……

Rakesh Aahnu is teaching assistant in the same college who is also working on his own dissertation on atomic metric of an RNA for his P.h.D, getting his master’s in physics
(not to brag, but the man is a genius) he doesn’t do people, nor does he like to tutor (most of the students he tutored did not take him seriously!) but he owes his uncle a favour and reluctantly takes Egon on…….

Gay guy leads straight guy astray ? and that’s all Rake wants, (he finds the challenge of selecting a man and then conquering him, until the novelty wears off! But along the way feelings are involved (which is a foreign concept for Rake!) and this angers and scares Rake (he’s only looking for a little fun then he moves on to his next conquest.
Egon is also struggling with his feelings and thoughts about his tutor! He likes girls, he has a “sort” of girlfriend. But the more time these two spend together the lines become blurred….

And when the inevitable happens, one heart will break, and the other heart shatters! And when that moment came….. I blubber like a baby! I wanted to scream at Rake for abandoning Egon, I know he was scared, but the way he left Egon was just low!!!!

Both characters have family issues, and it’s great that they are looked at and resolved.

The bedroom scenes are hot ? the humour between Egon and his teammates will have you chuckling. And the romantic moments…. Well they will just have you sighing like a Victorian maiden ?

So will Egon forgive Rakesh? Can Rakesh move past his fears of commitment? Will they get their happy ever after?

This book has been a little gem. And I hope we get to see more of the team in future books.

Loved Egon (my favourite character in the book) he was just a gem. Took me a little while to warm up to Rake, but once you see his caring/dominant side come out, I’m there grinning from ear to ear. Secondary characters had me wanting to read their stories, especially Uncle ? and BFF’s Rakkis and ?

I’m not a big sports fan, so the writer could have written anything, but with enough hockey terminology it stopped the book becoming boring.

There are a few subjects that might upset some readers, my advice is to check them out before reading this book.

A highly recommend read ??

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 4, 2023

One weekend with no strings was supposed to be the plan.

After barely escaping my last train wreck of a romance, I’ve got a new dating goal—play it cool.

I stick to that strategy when I meet a hunky Brit at a fundraiser and ask him to grab a drink. But he’s newly out and eager for all the things he’s never done, so he ups the ante with the wild suggestion that we jet off to the city of sin for a weekend, then say goodbye.

But instead, thanks to blackjack, a bet and some bourbon, we’re saying I do.

And in the morning I’m asking myself what the hell have I done? I can’t risk being the football player who’s also a playa. We’ll just undo the holy matrimony right this stinking second.

Except, the pics of our nuptials are splashed all over the Internet, and my agent says we need to stay Mister and Mister until the brouhaha blows over.

Thirty days as fake husbands with the charming Brit who’s determined to prove that he’s nothing like my ex?

My bruised heart can handle that as long as I don’t fall for my husband.

And I won’t. When we split for real, he’ll be an ocean away.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 21, 2023

A story of love at first sight. Then everything, including reality, gets in the way.

When Wyatt meets Sean sparks fly. Their Zoom encounters, although work-related, generate the most unusual electronic reactions. But when they meet in the flesh he forgets all about contacting technical support because Sean is even more electrifying in person — an unusual experience for a Grindr-jaded Wyatt.

But the interference continues and every time they meet Sean appears to get cold feet. Wyatt’s no fool. He knows the attraction is mutual. Neither is he desperate for attention. He gets plenty of that on his own. Sean is either up to something, he figures, or he’s frightened because he keeps coming back but retreats every time.

Two worlds collide. Disillusioned at thirty-five, Wyatt leads a life that suits him. Affable to all but open to few, he’s more-or-less content, a little bored, and not bad on his own. As far as he’s concerned, he’s seen and heard it all.

Sean is different. Brimming with enthusiasm, he stumbles into Wyatt’s life like an overgrown puppy. Almost unnaturally handsome, he comes with none of the personality traits of the physically endowed. Yet, beneath the spectacular appearance is a man who’s awkward with people and reluctant to talk about himself.

Each is fascinated by the other and neither wants to make the first move. Sean appears to hesitate and Wyatt, normally a hook-up pro, is lost. Despite his growing frustration — or perhaps because of it — he persists in hoping they’ll get together one day. And when that day comes the intimacy is greater than he’d ever imagined.

Even locked in Wyatt’s arms, however, Sean refuses to talk about himself. But bouts of sex and declarations of love break down his barriers, and one by one, he lets his secrets drop. At first, Wyatt doesn’t believe him. Worse, he doubts his sanity. He’d expected to hear stories of an unhappy childhood, not fantastical fabrications of a life that cannot be.

But with each secret revealed Sean demonstrates its truth until Wyatt is stuck between forsaking the world as he knows it or walking away. He hasn’t got much time, though. Sean has even more secrets and he’s not alone.

REVIEW:SEEING SEAN by Patrick Doyle is an adult, sci-fi, LGBTQ romance storyline focusing on call-center co-workers thirty-five year old Wyatt, and twenty-six year old Sean.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Wyatt and Sean) SEEING SEAN focuses on the building relationship between call-center co-workers thirty-five year old Wyatt, and twenty-six year old Sean. Wyatt was tasked with getting to know their new employee Sean but Sean had opted to work from home. A work-place party would be the perfect opportunity to introduce Sean to everyone else but all was not as it appeared to be. From the outset, Wyatt struggled with the perfection that was the man with whom he would quickly fall in love, a man as mysterious as the events that were about to upend their lives. On the run, Sean would discover everything about his life had been a lie, and Wyatt would be the stabilizing factor in their lives going forward.

SEEING SEAN is a story of power and control, secrets and lies, betrayal and innocence all wrapped up in a science fiction narrative of what if and why. A thought provoking, haunting and imaginative tale, SEEING SEAN is both sweet and edgy, tender and tragic. The world building is told through the innocent and somewhat naïve voice of Sean, a voice that is neither naïve nor weak. Patrick Doyle pulls from several familiar and popular tropes including a much touted and successful video game turned television series

REVIEW: BOOMER is the twenty-fifth instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic, MC romance series. This is former US Marine Alexander ‘Boomer’ Smith, and bartender Drake Hill’s story line. BOOMER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: BOOMER is an LGBTQ story line focusing on a same $ex relationship between two consenting adult men. Some of the events of BOOMER cross over with some of the events of book twenty-four ARO.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers including assault, abuse and homophobia.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Alex and Drake) BOOMER focuses on the building but struggling relationship between former US Marine Alexander ‘Boomer’ Smith, and bartender Drake Hill. Alexander Smith grew up in a strict Fundamentalist religious family, with draconian rules and regulations that would leave Alexander battling the demons from which he continues to run. The Fundamentalist teachings about God, $ex and homosexuality have scarred Alexander Smith such that he is unable to discern his attraction to Drake from a mortal sin. Drake Hill has flirted with Alex, suspecting our hero has yet to come out of the ‘proverbial closet’ but Drake will soon discover that Alex’s inability to let go of the past controls every aspect of his present including his attraction to the man with whom he will fall in love. As Alex and Drake’s relationship becomes more personal and physical, Alex wants to keep their affair a secret but with issues of trust, Alex will quickly push Drake out of his life, refocusing his attention on the teachings from the past, needing forgiveness for his transgressions and sins. What ensues is the building but heart breaking relationship between Alex and Drake, and the potential fall-out as Alex continues to struggle with his attraction to Drake, and what he perceives to be judgement by the Cerberus MC.

Drake Hill is a flirt; he flirts with everyone including Alexander Smith but Drake only has eyes for our story line hero, a man who is unable to accept who he is, and what he wants. Drake knows that to push Alex could mean to push the man a little too far but Drake never expected to find himself blamed for something he would never do. Drake’s own past is mired is abuse and regret, and as such Drake battles between head and heart knowing the man that he loves is struggling with who he is and what he wants. Alexander Smith battles between head and heart with his attraction to Drake, an attraction that would never be condoned by the family with whom he grew up but that family destroyed Alex’s heart and his soul, leaving Alex a shell of his former self.

The relationship between Alex and Drake begins awkwardly as Alex is unable to admit to his attraction to Drake. Alex believes he will be judged not only by God but by the Cerberus family and the other MCs.Struggling to move beyond the teachings of his past, Alex will eventually break the heart of the man with whom he will fall in love, a heart that was willing to accept Alex, ‘sins’ and all. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and charismatic secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we have met in the previous story lines including Sawyer ‘Ugly’ Maddox, and President of the Cerberus MC Kincaid. Ugly’s story line is next.

BOOMER is a story of power, betrayal, grief and acceptance. The premise is emotional and captivating; the romance is seductive and heart breaking; the characters are broken, dynamic and determined. BOOMER ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Let’s see…where to begin…

I’m inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)

We have two boys we’re doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.

I have a master’s degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there’s usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.

If I’m not writing; I’m reading.

My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I’m reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it’s gotten me exactly where I need to be!)

I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 30, 2022

Spiralling so far down after my wife’s death has messed up the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Will this hot-looking guy ever forgive me?

Elijah
Grief can make a mess of things, and that’s saying it mildly.

My wife lived a devout life. I thought opposites attract and that going to church and being everything I am not would be enough. I pretended and lied about who I am.

I had never loved her wholly, I couldn’t, but she had her secrets as well.

Out of the blue, an overconfident man showed up. He showed me how to be my authentic self.

Lane
I never struggled to be me, I’m proud of who I am. What I struggle with is to find someone who loves me, someone who will create a life with me.

After my reason for coming to Wingstead went bust, I needed money fast. I could see the bar I stopped in was short-staffed. Perhaps I could make some fast cash until I figure out my next move … and move on.

What I didn’t expect was to find the handsome bartender and owner who needed me. He’s a hot mess. But is he worth risking my mortal life over?

REVIEW:  FORGIVENESS RUNS DEEP is the second instalment in Caleb Marks’ contemporary adult WINGSTEAD MM series focusing on a community of LGBTQ members in Wingstead Wyoming. This is twenty-six year old Lane Montgomery Young, and bar owner Elijah Moore’s story line. FORGIVENESS RUNS DEEP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: FORGIVENESS RUNS DEEP focuses on same-sex relationship and alcohol abuse.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Elijah and Lane) FORGIVENESS RUNS DEEP follows twenty-six year old Lane Montgomery as he searches for the man who owes him money. Arriving in Wingstead Wyoming, Lane will discover said man is dead but the moody and often drunk bar owner Elijah Moore knows more than he is willing to tell. When Elijah disappears for hours at a time, Lane makes himself at home, working the bar until the owner returns. Lane suspects Elijah is struggling with his sexual identity but the death of his best friend, and his wife, have made Elijah a man he no longer recognizes. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Elijah and Lane, and the potential fall-out as Elijah continues to struggle with who he is, and his attraction to a man he knows little about.

Lane Montgomery Young is a flamboyant , twenty-six year old, gay man who finds himself attracted to a man who had yet to come to terms with who he is, and what he wants. Elijah lost his best friend, lost his wife, and may lose his bar but Elijah refuses to admit his attraction to Lane, a young man who is willing to stand by the man who is destroying his heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but mostly implied-there are no explicit or graphic sexual scenarios.

The secondary and supporting characters include Toby and Mac (Letting Him In 1), Landon, Malcolm and Finn, as well as the introduction of Elijah’s former in-laws, and several ‘queer’ members of the LGBTQ community. Malcolm and Landon’s story is next.

FORGIVENESS RUNS DEEP is a story of love and loss, rejection, denial and acceptance, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is heart breaking; the romance is captivating; the characters are colorful but broken and struggling.
