ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 17, 2019

Emma and Jax came together in the midst of secrets and lies, but in a castle in Maine, they seek passion and sanctuary. What they find is a mystery that could stretch beyond all their expectations. And what Emma finds is danger.

One Woman begins where One Man ended, with Emma one step from death and Jax the only man who can save her.

••••••••••

REVIEW: ONE WOMAN is the second instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult NAKED erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on thirty-four year old, billionaire financial planner for North Whiskey Jax North, and twenty-eight year old hotel heiress Emma Knight. ONE WOMAN should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book one ONE MAN.

Told from dual first person perspectives ( Jax and Emma) ONE WOMAN continues to focus on the search for the truth. In the aftermath of Emma’s father’s death, and the perceived suicide of Jax’s brother Hunter, Jax and Emma struggle to come to terms with what happened and why. While Emma’s brother Chance is desperate to keep Emma away from Jax North, there are other players in the game whose sole purpose is to destroy our leading couple. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jax and Emma, and that potential fall-out as Emma’s past, Chance’s business partners, and Jax’s family push at the proverbial envelope in an effort to tear our couple apart.

The relationship between Jax and Emma is sexually erotic, sensual and vulnerable. Emma must put her trust in a man who, in the beginning, targeted our heroine for the death of his brother; and Jax must come to terms with his attraction and growing love for the daughter of the man out to destroy them all. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and intense.

ONE WOMAN is a story of family, betrayal, and vengeance; power, money and control. The premise is engrossing, intelligent and spicy; the romance is provocative; the characters are strong and edgy. Rick Savage returns as part of the Walker Security Team-Savage’s story begins with Savage Hunger in December 2019. ONE WOMAN ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

Jax’s jaw tenses, he cuts his stare, and that says all I need to know. “What are we doing Jax?” I demand. “We’re poison to each other.” I turn away and charge toward the bedroom, and I don’t stop at the door. I already found my suitcase and took it to the bathroom. I had to brush my teeth because I imagined myself kissing Jax. I imagined all these wonderful things with him, but that can’t happen now.

I hurry through the room, and I’ve made it halfway to the bathroom, just past the bed, when Jax catches my arm. Heat rushes up my arm, and it’s not all about anger. It’s about this man touching me. It’s about this man and how much I want him, how much I even feel as if want has transformed to need. I whirl around, intent to confront him, but I fail. He drags me against him, all those hard muscles absorbing all the softer parts of me, and the words linger on my tongue, but never leave my mouth.

“What are we doing?” he demands, and he doesn’t give me time to reply. “This.” His mouth closes down on mine, and I try to fight, no, I tell myself to fight, to push back, to save myself before I go down and never find my way back up. But I don’t fight. I don’t even try to save myself.

His mouth closes down on mine, and the taste of him, all man and demand, undoes me. I sink into his big, powerful body, as my tongue meets his. I’m all in, kissing him like there is no tomorrow, and maybe there isn’t, maybe there can’t be, but right now, right now, I reject that idea. I drink him in the way he’s drinking me in until his mouth is gone, his breath a warm whisper, as he says, “That. Over and over again, with no end I want to imagine. We’re not bad for each other. We’re not poison. Say it. We’re not poison.”

But I can’t say it.

How can I say what I’m not sure I believe?

The Truth About Cowboys (Texas Heat #1) by Lisa Renee Jones-Review & Excerpt Tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 27, 2019

I had my life figured out.

Engaged to a successful man.

About to make partner at my firm.

Bought a high-rise apartment in downtown Dallas.

And then, poof, it’s all gone. Now, like in some cheesy romantic comedy, my car has broken down in the pouring rain on my way to “find myself” in The Middle of Nowhere, Texas. Cue hot guy coming to my rescue and changing my tire. This is the part where we flirt and have a meet-cute, right? That’s how it works in romance novels, and I should know—after all, I’m coming to Texas to write my own cowboy romance. But nope. This sexy cowboy lights into me about not being prepared for the country roads and how inappropriate my high-heeled boots are.

Little did I know, Jason Jenks would tilt my world into a new dimension with his sinful smirk and his bad attitude. Every time I turn around, he’s there to reluctantly save the day. And every time, I think there may be something to that spark we ignite. But there’s a reason the majority of country songs are about broken hearts. The closer I get to this man, the closer I get to learning the truth about cowboys.

••••••••••

REVIEW: THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult TEXAS HEAT erotic, cowboy romance series. This is former major league baseball pitcher and rancher Jason Jenks, and Dallas divorce attorney/writer Jessica’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jason and Jessica) THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS follows the acrimonious relationship between former major league baseball pitcher and rancher Jason Jenks, and Dallas divorce attorney/writer Jessica. With the discovery that her boyfriend was screwing around, and her outburst and accusations towards a client, Jessica finds herself in Sweetwater, Texas, licking her wounds as she writes ‘A Girl’s Guide to Divorce’. On a forced leave of absence Jessica intends to forget about the past but driving in the rain lands Jessica knee deep in mud facing off with the ‘a$$hole’ cowboy who will steal her heart. Enter former major league baseball pitcher turned rancher Jason Jenks. What ensues is the building but antagonistic relationship between Jason and Jessica, and the potential fall-out as Jessica is forced to walk away following one too many accusations by the man that she loves.

Jessica needs some time alone, and Sweetwater, Texas offers the solitude she needs to write her novel but Jessica had no idea that she was about to meet her future in the guise of an angry and embittered former baseball player who struggles to move on from the past. Jason Jenks doesn’t do relationships having been burned in the past, a past that continues to control his present. Battling too many demons and the inability to trust, Jason struggles with issues of jealousy, and uncertainty as it pertains to the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship between Jessica and Jason is oft-times combative and hesitant. Jason’s issues of trust control his emotions and our hero tends to direct his frustrations on the woman he loves. Jessica, fresh off of a disastrous romance finds herself on the defence more times than she wants, a defence that forces Jessica to walk away before losing her heart. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Jason’s all seeing and feisty grandmother Martha; several ranch hands, Jason’s best friend and local veterinarian Roarke, as well as Jessica’s friend Shelly. I am looking forward to Roarke’s story.

THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a story of family, friendship, betrayal and love; a story of trust, miscommunication, misunderstanding and hope. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are broken, colorful, dynamic, charismatic and energetic. THE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS is a spirited and intoxicating introduction to Lisa Renee Jones’ new TEXAS HEAT series.

Jessica…
I dart toward the door in the far right corner and enter the bathroom, where I find a giant old-fashioned, barrel-style tub. I open one of the white cabinet doors and also find a towel, but I’m just too wet for it to help. Like that woman was for Craig. Oh God. There I go again. No. No. No. I will not think those thoughts. No more. I’m done. With him. With her. I strip down naked, wrap the towel around me, and hunt for my suitcase, which I hope like heck has the other bag of chocolate I packed.
Naked might get a girl in trouble, but I’m alone and it’s not like anyone is going to see me naked anytime soon. I can go right ahead and happily pack a few pounds of chocolate weight on a petite frame that can’t handle a few extra anything. There will be no more men for me. Therefore, there will be no trouble to be found. It’s a great plan and on this one, really truly, I dare to say, what could go wrong? I exit the bathroom into the bedroom and scream at the sight of a man standing there.
The cowboy who saved me on the side of the road is not only here, minus his trench coat and wearing a snug black T-shirt, he’s bigger and broader than I remember. The bedroom shrinks. My heart races.
“I was right,” I accuse, clutching at my towel, the only thing between me and him besides footsteps. “You are a serial killer.” I search for a weapon and I don’t know why there’s a giant flashlight on the nightstand, but it’s long and strong, and I grab it, my new prize. I also manage to drop my towel. Oh my God, I’ve dropped my towel. Goose bumps lift on my naked body and, Lord help me, my nipples pucker.
I try to grab my towel and almost drop the flashlight, which is a better weapon than terry cloth. I commit to the flashlight and my state of undress. “I will hit you if you come near me,” I warn. “I mean, kill you.” That sounds unrealistic and therefore lacks the bite I intend. “I will hurt you.”
He arches a brow and, to my shock and his credit, he doesn’t so much as blink at anything below my neck. I don’t know if I should be appreciative or offended. Am I not distracting? Am I not worthy of a look? Obviously, my ex didn’t think so and—
The cowboy starts walking toward me.
“What are you doing? Stay back.” I hold up the flashlight, but I’m the one backing up, hitting the wall with a hard thud. He snatches up my towel and hands it to me, his hand brushing my nipple in the process. I suck in a breath, even as the flashlight is removed from my hand and tossed on the bed. “The game is over. Getting naked won’t stop me from calling the police.”
“I’ll knee you. I’ll scream. I’ll—”
“You’re standing in my property, sweetheart.”
“This is not—”
“And yet it is. You picked the wrong house to squat in and the wrong town. I saw where you turned off. I knew where you were headed. Wrong choice, sweetheart.”
“Stop calling me sweetheart. And what the hell are you talking about? Squatter? What is a—” A bad feeling hits me. “You think I’m freeloading by sneaking in here and now I’m trying to buy a bed with my naked body? Really?”
“If the shoe fits, sweetheart.”
I scowl. “Stop calling me sweetheart. Since when do women seducing men try to hit them with a flashlight? Then again, we are talking about you here. I’m pretty sure you could make anyone want to hit you. Maybe that’s the only foreplay you know. A flashlight and a—”
“Stop,” he orders, his hands pressing to the wall on either side of me, and now his big body framing my naked body.

DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 2 by Lisa Renee Jones-a review

DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 2 by Lisa Renee Jones-a review

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 13, 2019

Ashley and Aaron’s journey continues right where the prior book left off in this edgy and intense story. More secrets and lies, and more passion and danger. Ashley and Aaron could never be prepared for what’s about to happen. Questions will be answered. Answers will lead to more mysteries. And the chemistry between these two will leave you breathless.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part two is the second instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary adult DIRTY RICH Secrets erotic, romantic suspense serial focusing on paralegal Ashley, and former CIA operative Aaron aka Noah. DIRTY RICH SECRETS PART 2 should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of Part 1.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ashley and Aaron) DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 2 focuses on Aaron’s jealousy of the previous attention paid to our story line heroine by a member of the Walker Security Team. Throughout the instalment Aaron is unable to let go of the idea that Ashley may have wanted another man, a man who has also sworn to serve and protect. From angry $ex to accusations of lust and need, Part 2 barely skims the surface of the threats against our story line couple, threats brought about by sins of the past.

DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 2 focuses on issues of trust; of jealousy, possessiveness, and suspicion. There is an inordinate amount of redundancy as Aaron aka Noah is constantly accusing the woman he loves of lusting after another man, or of having sex with said man while Aaron was on the run. Apparently, I am in the minority with my thoughts and take on Part two. Sadly, I struggled to accept Aaron as anything more than a possessive and controlling character whose behavior screams all kinds of wrong, thusly overriding the little bit of information imparted regarding the threats against our story line couple. In this I had a difficult time liking the man we have come to know as Aaron, and therefore struggled to like this particular instalment.

Saying that, this is an issue with novels that have been divided into serialized chapters or parts of books. Oft times, a number of the instalments divulge little to no pertinent information. Reviewing a serialized novel is difficult because to comment on the world or characters building requires a complete novel wherein background, history, personality and premise have evolved or changed throughout the course of the book or series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release date July 30, 2019

He was passion and the reason I breathed. I loved him, trusted him when life taught me to trust no one. He was nothing I thought he was. He wasn’t even the man he said he was. He was dangerous. Everyone told me to hide, to run, but now he’s back. He came for me and I’m not running at all. Because he’s still the man that gave me a reason to breathe and if that’s dangerous, that’s a risk I will have to take.

Ashley’s story – you met her in Dirty Rich Cinderella Story, and now she’s ready to tell her story. You do not need to read any book prior to this one.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 1 is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult Dirty Rich Secrets erotic, romantic suspense, novella trilogy focusing on paralegal Ashley aka Sandy, and former CIA operative Noah aka Aaron. DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 1 can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ashley and Noah) using present day and memories from the past, DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 1 reveals some of the backstory and history between paralegal Ashley aka Sandy, and former CIA operative Noah aka Aaron. Six months earlier Ashley discovered that the man with whom she had fallen in love was a traitor to the country. Currently in the witness protective program, Ashley would come face to face with the man she knew only as Noah, a man who reveals that Ashley’s life has once again been compromised. What ensues is the rekindling relationship between Ashley and Noah, as our couple find themselves on the run, one step ahead of the people trying to take them down.

The relationship between Ashley and Noah is one of second chances; a rekindling romance in which Ashley struggles with her attraction to a man she knows nothing about, a romance predicated on a lie using our heroine as a cover for an undercover op. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 1 is an intriguing and quick read; a story of betrayal, secrets and lies; of revelations and explanations; of second chances and falling in love. Reading more like a serialized story line, DIRTY RICH SECRETS Part 1 ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

All the warnings about him play in my head. He’s dangerous. He’s a killer. He’ll wipe out anything and anyone in his path. “What are you going to do to me now that you’re here?”

“This,” he says, and before I realize his intention, his mouth closes down on mine, a deep slide of his tongue that I feel from my head to my toes, and I try to resist. I do, but he tastes like the only man I’ve ever loved. He feels like the only man I’ve ever loved. He smells like the man I thought I’d marry. He’s the only safe place I’ve known my entire life. For just a moment, or two, or ten, I need him to be that man. I sink into the kiss, and I kiss him with all that I am and will ever be, and it’s such a passionate kiss, such a perfect kiss, the kind that fills up every empty place I’ve ever known and overflows with this man.

“Do you feel us now?” he asks, tearing his mouth from mine.

“Of course, I do,” I whisper. “Because you made me love you. I can’t just turn that off. I want this, and us, to be real, but it’s not.”

“We are what’s real. I’m going to make you feel that.” And then he’s kissing me again, and I know I’m a crazy person, but I don’t fight him. If he’s going to kill me, he’s going to kill me. There’s no fighting him, but fear isn’t what I feel. I’ve been so alone without him. And I’m still so in love with him. If I’m going to die, at least I want to live in the fantasy of this man loving me one more time. Just that thought has me pressing my hands under his shirt to feel his hot, hard muscle beneath my palms.

He pulls his shirt over his head, and then he’s pulling jacket and shirt off before our mouths collide again, and he’s taking us down on the mattress. We’re side by side, facing each other, and he catches my leg with his. “I missed the hell out of you, woman,” he says, his voice low, gravelly, guttural. Like he means it. I feel him and us in that moment. It feels real, but it always did. We were the most real thing I have known in my life, and that’s terrifying. He’s terrifying, but as his mouth closes down on mine, the possessive, hungry taste of him touching my tongue, I remind myself I’ve decided to live the fantasy one last time.

I need him.

I want him.

I hate him.

I love him.

He presses me to my back and never stops kissing me. His hand pushes down my bra, his fingers teasing one of my nipples. I moan, and there is a vibrating sound from somewhere. “Fuck,” he murmurs. “That’s our warning, baby.”

“Warning? What does that mean?”

“I’ll make this all up to you, Ashley. I promise. I promise, baby. I will make it up to you, but right now, I need to protect you.”

REVIEW: ONE MAN is the first instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult NAKED erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on thirty-four year old, billionaire financial planner for North Whiskey Jax North, and twenty-eight year old hotel heiress Emma Knight.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jax and Emma) ONE MAN follows the building enemies to lovers relationship between thirty-four year old, billionaire financial planner for North Whiskey Jax North, and twenty-eight year old hotel heiress Emma Knight. Jax North is seeking revenge against the Knight family, and Emma Knight is his obvious target. The recent ‘death’ of his brother finds Jax seeking answers, answers he believes are hidden deep within the Knight organization. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Jax and Emma, and the potential fall-out as there is more to the story than anyone could have imagined.

The relationship between Emma and Jax is extraordinarily sexual for two strangers who have never previously met or spoken to one another. Emma doesn’t know who to trust including the brother she loves but the recent death of her father brings to the surface too many secrets, and a dark and sordid past. Jax North is a constant beacon of light in Emma’s gradually darkening world, but a beacon that holds many secrets of his own. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

ONE MAN reveals some of the background and history between several players in a game of power, struggle, and the ultimate control. Lisa Renee Jones dances around the numerous secrets and lies, holding back the most important information for future reveal. The premise is intriguing, engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are colorful, energetic and dynamic-several characters cross over from the author’s Filthy Trilogy, and her Tall, Dark and Deadly series with the appearance of Walker Security team members. ONE MAN follows a familiar formulaic pattern-one that the author has used before.

ONE MAN ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

He holds me fast and pulls me to him, our legs colliding, the hard lines of his body hugging mine. My gaze jerks to his, the night darkening his blue eyes, the streetlight catching flecks of amber in his intense stare. “Run with me, not away from me.”

“I don’t even know you.”

“Then change that. I’m not asking you to marry me. I’m asking you to get to know me the way I want to know you.” Somehow, this statement manages to be the perfect mix of alpha male and vulnerability. “Come with me.”

“Where?” I whisper, and I can feel my body swaying toward his.

His hand slides under my hair, a warm strong hand, his thumb stretching to my jaw, tilting my face to his. His blue eyes still catching amber gold in the streetlights, a dominance in their depths that shouldn’t arouse me, but there’s no fighting my reaction to this man, or to who I am deep down inside. And I am the woman who is drawn to a man like Jax. Perhaps to a man too like York.

“I promised you a castle,” he says, “but I’ll settle for anywhere where I can do this.” His mouth closes down on mine, his tongue pressing past my lips, a quick tease that I still manage to feel in every part of me. Goosebumps lift on my skin and his mouth lingers above mine, a hot breath promising more before he strokes deep. And then, he’s kissing me, a wicked, passionate kiss that is pure heat, greedy even, fierce. Alluring. Passionate. Addictive. And then gone, his mouth is gone, and I’m panting as he says, “Say yes and I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.”

Every warning that York stirred in me earlier fades away with the taste of this man on my lips, every warning is immediately reasoned away. This is one night and then Jax is gone. This is an escape. Death and grief allow me permission to need this. That damn journal gives me permission to need him. I’m going to do this.

“I want off this street corner,” I say. “I want to leave. I want to leave with you.”

His eyes warm, approval and satisfaction in their depths that somehow isn’t arrogant. He laces his fingers with mine and walks backward, guiding me to the door of the SUV. And then he does something unexpected. He steps aside and motions me toward the back doors, a silent invitation to enter or walk away, to make my own decision. I climb inside, letting the soft leather absorb my body, a willing victim, as he’d wanted.

There’s interest in his eyes, the kind a man has for a woman, but who knows, maybe it’s real or maybe it’s not real. Maybe he knows who I am and sees a path to power and fame. The way Tobey wanted me for money and power, right up until the moment I’d called his number aka his agenda; thus, he has not called me since I left. Maybe Harvard will lie even better than Tobey did. Maybe Harvard will at least kiss better than he did, and the lies would taste like temptation rather than convenience. At least then, if I’m used, I’ll enjoy being used.

Whatever the case, it’s clear I might actually be angry with Tobey and that aside, the interest that Harvard has shown in me, must be controlled before my Denver sanctuary is destroyed. “You can join me,” I say, “but only because I’m trying to save the rest of the place from the attorney in the house.”

I am pleased when Harvard laughs, where Tobey would have scowled, proving that Harvard has a sense of humor, which is rare for those in my life. I’ve barely completed this thought when he moves forward and claims the seat next to me, not across from me, settling his briefcase on that chair instead. In the process, his leg brushes my leg and for the briefest of moments, I’m transported back to the place that I’m now trying to forget: to Austin, to Drew’s leg next to mine, his wink, and I do now what I did then. I jerk back. If Harvard notices he doesn’t react. “Since we haven’t been formally introduced,” he says, resting his naked hands on the table. “I’m Logan. Logan Casey.”

“Logan Casey,” I repeat trying to ground myself in the present, at least for now, but some part of me is still swimming in that memory, which naturally has me wondering if this man is a shark in the water around me. “Two first names,” I add. “Sounds like your parents fought over who got to pick your first name. Did they draw straws for which choice became your middle name?”

“You’re actually right on target,” he says, laughing again, and it’s a nice, masculine laugh, and oddly this thought feels familiar while Logan does not. “No one has ever guessed that,” he adds. “My mother won the name war. The women always win. Speaking of names. Do you have one?”

“Hailey Anne Pitt,” I say, “and in my house, my father won the name war.” Because in my father’s world, I add silently, the women don’t win the wars. At least, not that he knows, not in an obvious way. I’ve learned this well.

“Well then, Hailey Anne Pitt,” he says, “what’s a Stanford girl like you, doing in a place like this? You’re a long way from school.”

I’m smacked in the face with a lesson I’ve long ago learned and forgotten with this man; strangers do not always remain strangers and all offhanded remarks can come back to haunt you. “That was a joke,” I say, shutting the door connected to my real life, and a path that leads to my father. “I hate attorneys, remember?”

He narrows his eyes on me, and for no reason other than instinct, I believe he’s looking for a lie that he won’t find. I’m simply too well-taught from birth, too skilled at being more than one person to allow such a detection. Well that, and the fact that I really do hate attorneys, which is why I’ll be a good one.

“That was a joke?” he confirms.

“Yes,” I say. “Are you amused?”

“Yes, actually. I am. What does a lawyer-hating smart ass like yourself do for a living?”

“When not busy taunting those who went to law school,” I say. “I’m an aspiring artist.” Both honest answers, if you put a “was” in front of the “aspiring artist” which I’d thought that I’d come to terms with, but the knot in my stomach says I have not.

Logan motions toward the art room. “Your career explains why you ended up here.”

“I guess it does,” I say, as this place serves me well to reconnecting to the Pitt part of my life, which is a place I really need to be right now, for all kinds of reasons.

“Are you good?” Logan asks, as if he’s read my mind.

My father’s words answer him in my head. Art is useless unless you’re famous, he used to say often, because of course, it was inconceivable that I might be good enough to be famous. “Art is like movies and food,” I say, shoving aside that bad memory. “Good is subjective.” I don’t give him time to reply. I ping the conversation back toward him. “What kind of law do you practice?”

“Corporate,” he says, and this time he pings back to me. “Do you live in the neighborhood?”

“Yes,” I say simply. “Do you?”

“I bought a building a few years ago where I live and work which means this is my home turf, and why I know you’re new here.”

“I am,” I say and since he’s clearly going to ask for details, I quickly preempt with an on-the-fly story. Actually, it’s the suggested story, Rudolf included in my file. “I came here for a job, and my new boss owns a house he’s rented to me for dirt cheap.”

“And what does an artist do but create art for a living?”

“I’m working for a private art acquisitions firm. I now hunt for treasures for a living.” This lie is actually my dream job that I’ve never been allowed to entertain.

The horror flick loving waitress delivers my coffee and brownie. “Thank you,” I say, because every politician’s daughter has manners beaten into her.

“No problem,” she says, “but if you come to your senses and want a better version of that coffee, just shout.” She eyes Logan. “I already know you want a crappy tasting coffee, on endless pour and a chocolate chip cookie. Coming right up.”

“Thanks, Megan,” he says, giving her a wink that I don’t classify as flirtatious, just friendly, and Megan is gone.

“Obviously you’re a regular,” I comment, “and they even like you.”

“And they like me,” he confirms, “despite knowing I’m an attorney.

“Because you’re good looking and use it to your advantage.”

He arches a brow. “You think I’m good looking, do you?”

“Oh, come on,” I say, crinkling my nose. “Everyone thinks you’re good looking. I’m simply stating a fact. We use what we have and those of us that are smart, know what we have.” I move on from what is really quite inconsequential. “Why work here, not at home, or in the office?”

“I find I get a lot of work done with a cookie, coffee, and no access to streaming television,” he explains.

No one in my D.C. crowd would make an admission of being human and distractible. Some people in my situation might take comfort in that fact, but I don’t. Logan’s an attorney, and my gut, which I’ll confirm with research, says he’s a powerful one, the kind that radiates toward my father. Maybe that’s a coincidence and maybe it’s not. Maybe he’s testing how well I execute my cover story. The possibilities are many. Though in all fairness to Logan, perhaps I’d lean toward his innocence, if not for the laundry list of recent events such as Tobey being gay and the FBI agent, who is likely working for my father, that I slept with to prove I was a) still desirable and b) not a killer.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 23, 2019

The second and final book in the Dirtier Duet by Lisa Renee Jones.

Abbie swore that she was done with rich, powerful men. They’ve hurt her. They’ve hurt her mother, who she will do anything to protect. She’s done playing the submissive. She’s ready to fight back.

The problem is that Gabe Maxwell is one of those rich, powerful men and he refuses to be ignored. He’s in her path and she can’t seem to steer clear of him. He wants her. She wants him. But it’s not that simple.

There is more to her story, more than Gabe knows, but then, there is more to Gabe’s story than Abbie knows, too.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: HER SUBMISSION is the second and final instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult DIRTIER DUET erotic, romance duet focusing on attorneys Gabe Maxwell, and Abigail ‘ Abbie’ Tanner. The DIRTIER DUET is a spin-off from the author’s DIRTY RICH series. As per Lisa’s style of writing there is a slight cross-over with the Tall, Dark And Deadly series, and the appearance of Walker Security, as well as several characters from the author’s Dirty Rich series. HER SUBMISSION should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book one-HIS DEMAND.

NOTE: If you have not read book one HIS DEMAND, there may be some spoilers in my review.

Told from three first person points of view (Gabe, Abbie, and Gabe’s brother Reid) HER SUBMISSION picks up immediately after the events and cliff-hanger of book one HIS DEMAND in which our couple are rapidly discovering that not everything is going according to plan. From murder to betrayal and vengeance; power and control Gabe and Abbie find themselves pulled into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, a game in which our couple have been targeted for who they are, and what they know. Desperate to protect the man with whom she is falling in love Abbie struggles with the direction of Gabe’s plans, and the investigation meant to reveal who is behind the threats to Gabe and Abbie’s lives, as well as the threats against the people they love.

HER SUBMISSION is a character driven, erotic, intense and suspense filled story line of family and friendships; secrets and deception; power and wealth. Lisa Renee Jones pulls the reader into a sexy, spicy and fateful tale of love, lust and longing. My only issue is the identity of the killer- a little disappointing and unsatisfactory reveal.

“What do you want, Abbie?” Gabe demands, tearing his mouth from mine. “Say it. I need you to be clear. What do you want? But be careful what you ask for. You’ll get it.”

“More,” I say, twisting my hands in his T-shirt. “More of you, Gabe. All of you.”

He slides his hands under my leggings, palming my backside I left bare in the rush to take out Dexter. “More doesn’t get you a nice, funny guy, Abbie.”

“Thank fuck for that. Show me. Stop hiding. Stop trying to be only what you think I want, Gabe. Stop trying to be less than you are because that makes us less than we can be.”

“And if you can’t handle who I am?”

I’m on fire now, poking the bear and I can’t hold back. “And you’re afraid to find out. Is fear all I make you feel?”

His mouth suddenly crashes down on mine once more, his tongue pressing past my teeth, his kiss demanding, angry. He’s pissed. At me. At himself, I think, and that’s what I want to know. That’s the part of him I want to understand, I want to demand he show me.

“Get undressed,” he orders, setting me back from him, crossing his arms in front of that broad perfect chest of his.

My chin lifts in defiance, in refusal to allow him to intimidate me. Maybe he wants me to think he’s a monster like Kenneth. Maybe that should even piss me off but it doesn’t. It challenges me.
I pull my shirt over my head and toss it aside. “See?” I say. “Sometimes I even follow orders.” I unhook my bra, shrugging it away, exposing my naked breasts, the cold air puckering my nipples. “I must be very, very afraid of you.” I toe off my shoes and peel away my leggings, no panties to fret with. I’m not wearing any. Naked now but for socks, I’m not messing with, I close the small space between us and stand in front of him. “Or maybe I was right. You’re the one who’s afraid.”

He catches my hip and drags me to him. “You’re playing with fire.”

“Stop warning me away and pulling me back. Choose, Gabe. All in, remember? Or is that code for only if it’s me?”

His jaw clenches, his gaze lowering, raking over my naked breasts, and I can’t explain it, but I’m more naked right now, in this moment, with this man, than I’ve ever been before.

“All in, Abbie. That’s what you want? That’s what you’ll get.” He backs me up and presses my hands on the bar behind me and at my sides. He shackles my hips, and pulls me forward, forcing me to use them to hold myself up. “Keep your hands there,” he orders. “If you move them, I’ll punish you.”

Heat rushes through me but there is no fear. I don’t fear this man the way I feared Kenneth. I will never fear Gabe. I damn sure don’t fear the thick bulge of his erection pressing against my belly. “Punish me?” I challenge. “How would you punish me, Gabe?”

“You still haven’t been properly spanked, now have Abbie?”

“You spanked me, remember?”

“That was a love pat, remember? A spanking” he adds, most likely for effect, as he’s watching me with hooded eyes. “My hands on your pretty little ass. My cock buried inside you while I make it burn.”

His hand on my ass.

Spanking me.

His eyes lower to my mouth, linger with a promise of a kiss I crave but that doesn’t come, his gaze lifting with his own challenge. “Are you scared now?”

“If that’s the goal, it’s safe to say that you failed. I’m pretty sure what’s going on with me right now, can not be described as fear. Are you scared?”

I expect him to laugh or balk but he doesn’t. He leans in close, his lips at my ear, “From the day I met you, baby. From the day I met you.” He pulls back to look at me, blue eyes lit up and like fires in a forest, they burn a path through me. “And you’re right. I am pushing you. Right here. Right now. Don’t move.”

The Empire (Filthy Trilogy #3) by Lisa Renee Jones-Review & Excerpt Tour

The Empire (Filthy Trilogy #3) by Lisa Renee Jones-Review & Excerpt Tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 12, 2019

Passion. Lies. Family. Eric and Harper will feel the push and pull of a dynasty gone wrong. Secrets remain. Danger is everywhere. And the pull of a forbidden love will not be ignored.

Harper and Eric are now faced with trust issues. Can they survive their enemies and find a path to love and forever?

•••••••••

REVIEW: THE EMPIRE is the third instalment in Lisa Renee Jones’ contemporary, adult THE FILTHY erotic, romantic suspense trilogy focusing on billionaire/Navy SEAL and second in command to Grayson Bennett, Eric Mitchell, and heiress Harper Evans. Eric was first introduced in the author’s DIRTY RICH BETRAYAL (Dirty Rich #4) but you do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow the story. As per most of Lisa’s series, there is a cross-over with inclusion of some of the characters from the author’s Walker Security series including Blake Walker, Savage, Adam and Smith. THE EMPIRE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately following the events of book one THE PRINCESS.

NOTE: If you have not read the previous instalments, there may be some spoilers in my review.

SOME BACKGROUND: Six years earlier, Eric Mitchell, the bastard son of Kingston Motors CEO Jeff Kingston met his father’s new step-daughter Harper Evans, a woman Eric dubbed The Princess, but a woman that stirred something deep within our story line hero. A one-night stand followed by the realization of who and what Harper Evans represented further pushed Eric away from his birth right, as the spare to the heir of Kingston Motors. Fast forward to present day wherein Harper and Eric, now in a relationship with one another, find themselves a target of an unknown assailant hoping to end them both.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Eric Mitchell and Harper Evans) THE EMPIRE picks up immediately after the cliff hanger of book two THE PRINCESS wherein Eric and Harper receive some unsettling news about Eric’s father, a man who is no longer able to defend himself. Hoping to protect themselves from further exposure, Eric and Harper surround themselves with Walker Security as they continue to investigate those closest to our leading couple. But Eric has kept secret his earlier attempts to destroy the family, and Harper knows much more about Eric’s past than she was willing to reveal.

The relationship between Eric and Harper is erotic and flirtatious, passionate and seductive. Eric’s need for Harper is fuelled by his fear of losing the woman with whom he was falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, captivating and intense.

The world building continues to focus on the fractured family dynamics of the Kingston/Mitchell/Evans family, a family connected by blood, marriage, secrets and lies.

THE EMPIRE is a story of betrayal, power, romance and love. The premise is hypnotic, intriguing and suspenseful; the romance is provocative; the characters are larger than life, colorful and dramatic.

In life, there are people who touch our lives and leave lasting marks. There are people who cut us and do so in a way that we feel as if we might never heal. If we’re lucky, we find that one person who can soothe the ache of our wounds, if not heal them. That one person who sees our flaws as perfection. That one person who can make us whole again.

Eric shoves me against the wall of that alcove, and with that window beside us, overlooking the city, his big body pressed to mine, his kiss not only devours me—it speaks to me. He’s my one person and I’m his. I feel that in his touch. I feel that in the way we connect. I taste it in his kiss. I don’t know where this leads us. I don’t know if it means we can overcome the Kingston family, but I know we can overcome his demons. He doesn’t, though. I taste that in his kiss as well. There is torment, a feeling like he’s bad for me. That he shouldn’t want me and the only comfort I find in this and where we’re headed is that he isn’t pushing me away—he’s pulling me closer. And I will hold him tighter.

I sink into the hard lines of his body, slide my hands under his shirt, hard muscle flexing beneath my palms, the thick ridge of his erection pressed to my belly. God, how I want him, how I ache for more, and the next lick of his tongue just about undoes me. I tug on his shirt. “Take it off,” I order, wanting to feel him closer.

He reaches over his head and tugs it free and then fixes me in one of those scorching blue-eyed stares, the way he had the first night we met, and I’m melting right here in this office for him. He tugs my shirt over my head and unhooks the front of my bra, his gaze raking over my naked breasts, my nipples puckering beneath his inspection, and my sex clenching, empty, so very empty without him. “Better?” he challenges, his attention settling on my face.

My hands come down on his upper arms, the jaguar on his right shoulder, reminding me just how much he wants to deny his heritage. It reminds me just how much this family burns him alive. “A little.” I slide my hands down his hips and boldly stroke the line of his zipper, the thick ridge of his erection.

He groans, one of his hands covering my hand, the other hand catching my hair, a rough pull as his mouth closes down on mine again. And then he’s devouring me again and I love it. I love that I’ve drawn this deep, guttural reaction from him. I love that he’s all here with me, not in his own head, not doubting how good he is for me. Not swimming in the ocean of numbers in his head. Not in the hell of the Kingston family.

This drives me. I want to push him. I want to keep him here, with me. I squeeze his erection through his pants and whisper, “Why aren’t you inside me already?”

He turns me, pressing me to the wall like he had in the cottage, his big body wrapping my body, his hands on my breasts, fingers teasing my nipples, lips at my ear. “You were always sweeter than revenge,” he promises. “Always more addictive.” He plucks at my nipples. “So fucking addictive and I hated you for that.”

He reaches for my zipper and I squeeze my eyes shut. I don’t have to ask what he means. I understand. From the moment we met, he was in my head, in my heart, his touch imprinted on my body. The man I compared all others to, and they came up short. “I hated you, too.”

His hands press under the denim at my hips. He caresses them down my legs and then his arm is wrapping my waist and he’s lifting me. In a few quick moves, I’m naked and he’s standing at my hips, one palm possessively on my backside. The other on my belly. “Do you hate me now?” His fingers walk down to my sex and he cups me.

“Yes.” I look at him. “I still hate you for having this much control over me.” He slides his fingers along the seam of my sex, sending sensations darting through my body.

“Is that a bad thing?” he challenges, his palm squeezing my backside, his fingers slipping inside me.

“Yes,” I say, panting my way through that one word and somehow adding, “Because when I look in your eyes, like I am now, I see expectations. The wrong ones.”

He scowls and suddenly he’s turning me, pressing my back to the wall, his legs caging mine. “What does that mean?” he demands.

“It means as long as you expect to hurt me, as long as you expect you being a savant, you being different from me, to make us less, we will be. It means, you expect us to fail and so we will.” I swallow hard, my hand planting on his chest, his heart thundering beneath my palm, pounding out an emotional beat. “You think I can’t handle who and what you are. You still think I’m the princess and you’re the bastard.”

He tangles his fingers into my hair, his touch rough, erotic, as he drags my lips to his. “We are the bastard and the princess, but I don’t care anymore. I want you. I fucking need you. Do you understand me?”

Heat rushes over me, through my body, over my skin and settles in my heart and my sex. “I fucking need you, too.”

“Good, because I might have asked you to stay, but I never intended to let you go. I’m not going to let you go. I’m not going to let us go.”
