REVIEW:LODESTAR by Serena Akeroyd is a contemporary, adult, dark, erotic, Mafia romance duet focusing on hacker Conor O’Donnelly, and assassin Star Sullivan set in the author’s FIVE POINTS MOB world. Previously released as a two-book duet, Filthy Feck includes Filthy Lies, and Filthy Truth.

Told from several first person perspectives including Conor and Star LODESTAR is the culmination of several story lines and events from the author’s FIVE POINT MOB, THE FORGOTTEN BOYS as well as the DARK AND DIRTY SINNERS/ SATAN’S SINNERS MC series. Throughout all of the interconnected series and story lines, the search and take down of the group known as The Sparrows, both the New World Sparrows, and the Old World Sparrows. Dark and dangerous, deadly and determined, the Sparrows have wreaked havoc with, and control most of the powerful governments in the world. Their infiltration has reached the top, and everyone is suspect. From human and sexual trafficking, to assassinations and control, The Sparrows continue to infiltrate every aspect of the ruling elite, the oligarchy and government, and Star Sullivan is about to become a one woman wrecking crew with the help of the man with whom she has fallen in love. Enter Conor O’Donnelly, a high ranking member of the O’Donnelly Irish Mob, a young man whose speciality is IT hacking but is not opposed to become an assassin on his own. As Conor and Star begin to gather intel, Star will discover that everything she thought she knew about her life has been predicated upon a series of lies.
The world building is complex, detailed, retrospective and graphic. We are up close and personal with the backstories and history of our story line couple, as Star Sullivan learns the truth about her past, and the present day connections to the powerful elite. From the Russian Bratva to the Irish Mob, The Sparrows, The Brotherhood, The Union, and The Forgotten Boys, the influx of organizations and involvement is complicated and meticulous, such that a prior knowledge of events is most helpful.
The secondary and supporting characters continues to be numerous, powerful, dynamic and often double crossing. Along with the most of the previous story line couples, and several members of the Satan’s Sinners MC, we are up close and personal as Star is more or less welcomed into Conor’s family, and the discovery that she is no longer alone in the world.
LODESTAR is complex, detailed, dark and gritty story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, double cross and deception, acceptance and love. Like FILTHY LIES, the premise is dark, intricate, dramatic and multi-layered; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are determined, desperate, charismatic and often problematic.
