REVIEW:  LUCKY STUD is the third instalment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult LUCKY ALPHAS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former friends from Birdsville, Ohio. This is businessman Leo West, and charity event planner Sophia Carson’s story line. LUCKY STUD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Leo West was first introduced in book one LUCKY LIAR.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Leo and Sophia) LUCKY STUD follows in the aftermath of a charity auction for Children’s Brigade Foundation, a bachelor charity auction in which businessman Leo West, a bachelor contender, sets his sights on Sophia Carson. Sophia Carson has no information about Leo West, a late entry into the fund raiser but a man who sparks our heroine’s interest if only because of Leo’s attempts to flirt. Leo’s desire to be part of the fund raiser has more to do with blackmail and revenge, and Sophia is Leo’s ‘ticket’ to freedom from a shady past. With more than one person after our story line heroine, Leo and Sophia go on the run to exotic places, where Leo finds himself falling for a woman who is willing to sacrifice herself for our story line hero. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Leo and Sophia, and the potential fall-out as Sophia’s past, a past to which she is no longer connected, inadvertently pulls our heroine into the middle of a game of revenge.

The relationship between Leo and Sophia begins as part of a charity auction but mostly predicated upon a lie, and a need to secure vengeance and passage from a dangerous past. Sophia has never been connected to her father’s life but his life is about to place our heroine into the direct line of fire.Sophia is a pawn, and the players see Sophia as the perfect game piece. I am not sure if Sophia is TSTL or playing at being naive but when push comes to shove, she knows exactly what to do in order to survive. The lone $ex scene is intimate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

The secondary and supporting characters include Sophia’s boss and foundation head Jules Harris, Kellen Brecken, and Leo’s partner in crime, Stella.

LUCKY STUD is a quick read; a fast paced story of power, betrayal, desperation and revenge. The premise is entertaining and intriguing; the romance is fast and furious; the characters are energetic and dynamic.
