ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 26, 2023

Alasdair MacKenzie has never once considered himself unlucky in all the centuries he’s been an immortal rogue enforcer. Not until he meets Sophie. Finding the beautiful, smart, and funny woman who is his life mate is great luck, actually. But meeting her at a wedding full of Argeneaus, not to mention his own busybody uncles determined to “help him claim his woman,” is bad luck. And the fact that Sophie is someone else’s date? Well that’s just the next level of unlucky.

From the way her gaze travels over his body like a caress to the electric zing whenever they innocently touch…he wants her for all eternity! He’ll keep his hands off Sophie until her date is over. After that all bets are off and he’ll pull out all the stops to win her. Great plan—until he gets hit by a car. And then he’s poisoned. Is his luck that bad, or is someone out to stop this immortal from claiming Sophie as his life mate?

•••••••••

REVIEW: Bad Luck Vampire begins with Sophie Ferguson realizing within a few minutes that her blind date with Carl was not going well. She knew there was no reason to continue and told him she was leaving. Carl would not take no for an answer and followed her outside. Sophie defended herself and was trying to make it to her car when she noticed Carl was no longer following her. Carl, in fact, was being “detained” by two huge men who came to her aid.

Tybo and Valerian take “care” of Carl for her, which she is immensely grateful for. What she doesn’t expect is for Tybo to ask for her number. Since they had saved her from more of Carl’s antics, she gave it to him. What she doesn’t know is that Tybo and Valerian are not quite human.

When she sees Tybo again, he invites her to be his date at an upcoming family wedding. She accepts the offer. Once they arrive at the wedding, she realizes she has never seen so many beautiful people in one place. What she doesn’t understand is her attraction to another guest, Alasdair MacKenzie. She chastises herself and tries to settle in and just enjoy the festivities. She also doesn’t understand why a certain guest, whom she just met, is suddenly, subtly, pushing her to sit by Alasdair. That certain guest is none other than Marguerite Argeneau. If you know, you know!

Once the wedding is over, Alasdair starts to court Sophie, only to have so many bad things happen to him. Talk about unlucky. However, it doesn’t take long for him to figure out that someone is either trying to kill him or he is indeed has the worst bad luck of any vampire.

Bad Luck Vampire is another great addition to the series. Sophie and Alasdair are a great couple. As always, there is a huge presence of secondary beloved characters, but it is his Scottish uncles who steal the show. They are hysterical in trying to help Alasdair “woo” his life mate. Sands has always written with humor, but this one made me laugh out loud. I can only hope one of the uncles gets a story soon. If you’re a fan of the series, you’ll certainly enjoy this one. If you’ve not read the series, what are you waiting for? Well done, Lynsay Sands! Very, very well done!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 25, 2019.

For close to three thousand years the imposing, impossibly handsome Santo Notte has fought in armies across the world and battled his own, more personal enemies. Of all the places he might expect to encounter his life mate, a quiet corner of upstate New York doesn’t seem likely. But as soon as he makes contact with history professor Petronella Stone, while hunting down a suspected rogue immortal, he knows that she will be the greatest adventure of his eternal life.

He expects her to be surprised, confused, even overwhelmed. What he doesn’t expect is that Pet has a secret history of her own. There’s no mistaking the mind-blowing, mutual pleasure they share. But as Pet struggles to protect her nephew from a danger lurking too close to home, Santo realizes there’s another threat to her safety—him. And claiming their passionate future will be impossible until he leaves his past behind, forever

•••••••••••

REVIEW: The Trouble With Vampires begins with Petronella Stone, known as Pet, babysitting her nephew due to both parents being out of town. She finds herself a bit surprised to see that the neighbors are out of town and have rented out their home to a group of people (Marguerite Argeneau Notte and her husband, Julius, among others) vacationing. She’s also surprised when her nephew tells her that the neighbor across the street has company who doesn’t seem very nice and he’s a bit worried about the elderly neighbor. After she and her nephew have gone to bed, she discovers someone trying to break into her sister’s home and calls 911.

Santo Notte has been summoned to upstate New York in order to help track a rogue immortal. While surveilling the house across the street, he and his family (who are there to help track the rogue) see someone trying to break into the house next door and leap into action. Even though the rogue gets away, they take Pet and her nephew into their ‘rental’ to keep them safe and to make the necessary repairs to Pet’s house.

Once Santo realizes that he can’t read or control Pet, he knows she is his lifemate, but moves slowly as to not run her off for more than one reason. Not only does he not want her to run because he’s an immortal, it appears that he has been keeping a secret that he fears could put her in danger……from him.

The Trouble With Vampires is another great addition to the Argeneau series. I loved Pet. And I loved that she actually already knew about immortals. That particular backstory is one of the best yet in the series. I’ve been waiting on Santo’s story for a while now. His abduction and torture at the hands of an evil doctor, and ultimate escape, has shaped him into a bit of a brooding character. However, once he realizes that Pet is his lifemate, he tries to shake loose of the past in order to have a future with her. The chemistry between the two of them, as well as their understanding of each other’s backgrounds, will endear both of them to everyone who reads their story. The Trouble With Vampires is book number 29 in the Argeneau series, and I still love them. Every one of them. They are fun, poignant with just the right amount of steam. If you’re a paranormal romance fan, you will NEVER go wrong with one of these books. The entire Argeneau family, as well as their extended family, is one of the most endearing families in paranormal romance history, in my humble opinion. Well done, Lynsay Sands! Very, very well done!

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 27, 2018

For someone who’s been around for over a hundred and forty years, immortal Elspeth Argeneau hasn’t done a whole lot of living. Now that she’s moved away from her controlling mother, she’s tracking down rogue vampires and enjoying some overdue freedom. A fling would be fun. A life mate can wait. Yet to Elspeth’s surprise, her landlady’s hot grandson checks both boxes.

Wyatt fell instantly in love with Elspeth four years ago. He’s stunned to run into her again, especially as she has no memory of him. Then again, there are a lot of things about Elspeth that don’t make sense, like the miraculous speed with which her wounds heal. And the chemistry that transforms every touch into an explosion of desire. But with mysterious “accidents” besieging Elspeth, the ex-Special Forces soldier appoints himself her bodyguard. But time is running out to uncover the truth about her enemies—and rediscover the man determined to love her for eternity.

••••••••

REVIEW:Twice Bitten begins with Elspeth coming home after responding to a so-called “soft” call for the Enforcers, for whom she has been working until she starts teaching at university. All she wants to do is go home and go to bed. Upon entering her bedroom she discovers that she has company, and not the company she wanted. Having moved away from home (England) just six weeks prior, she was a little stunned to find that her mom , Martine, and her twin sisters were not only visiting, but have basically taken over her apartment. She and her mother spar over their invasion of her apartment. Elspeth becomes concerned when her mother tells her a man let her in, and not the sweet, elderly lady from whom she rented the apartment.

Elspeth heads to her landlord’s apartment and finds that it’s Merry’s (Meredith) grandson who let them in. Elspeth has become very close with Merry in the few weeks she’s been in Canada, but said grandson, Wyatt, is suspicious of Elspeth. He also can’t figure out why she acts like they’ve never met, because their meeting is burned into his very soul.

To say that Elspeth’s mother, Martine, is overbearing and controlling is the understatement of the century. Her back story makes you understand with why she controls (literally) her kids, but that story doesn’t make you agree with her methods. Once a series of accidents follow, that leave Elspeth gravely injured more than once, one can’t help but wonder if it is her own mother causing the accidents. Or, is it someone completely unknown to Elspeth? One thing is for sure: Wyatt is going to make her remember him, and protect her, even if it kills him.

Twice Bitten is another awesome addition to the Argeneau series. I love the characters of this series. Elspeth and Wyatt are no exception. This one is also different in that the heroine has to decide if she does indeed WANT what every immortal searches for: a life mate. I loved the angst that you could feel from Elspeth as she navigated her relationship with her family. I also loved Wyatt’s protective streak. The chemistry between the two leaps off of the page. We also see a lot of the Argeneaus in this one, which is always a HUGE plus for me. This is number 27, but don’t let that number fool you. These are quick reads filled with some intrigue, some humor and a whole lot of sizzle. If you’re a romance fan, with some paranormal mixed in, you will never go wrong with this series. Well done, Lynsay Sands! Very, very well done!

“Wyatt?” she said, surprised at how breathless her voice was.
She was panting, Elspeth realized. The man hadn’t even touched her and she was panting like an overheated dog . . . or a horny one.

“I’m sorry,” Wyatt growled, and turned away to quickly search the room, and then spotting the bath towel over the towel rack, he grabbed it and turned back to offer it to her.

Elspeth reached for it, but froze when their hands touched. For a minute, they just remained like that, both silent and still as shockwaves rolled through them, and then Wyatt cleared his throat. His voice was husky as he said, “I know you’re not ready for a life mate, and I-“

That was as far as he got before Elspeth finished taking the towel from him, let it drop to the floor, and reached for him instead.

Runaway Vampire

About the book: Release Date February 22, 2016

Dante Notte has heard it said that love hurts. He just wasn’t expecting it to run him over in an RV. Still, a punctured lung and broken ribs are nothing compared to the full-body shock he feels whenever he’s near the vehicle’s driver, Mary Winslow. He needs to keep her safe from their pursuers while he rescues his brother. Most challenging of all, he needs to claim this smart, stubborn woman as his life mate.

The naked, injured, insanely gorgeous younger man who clambered into her RV insists they belong together. If Mary wasn’t feeling their incredible connection in every inch of her being, she wouldn’t believe it. But now that the men who took Dante’s twin are after her too, trusting her gut means risking her life for an immortal who’s the very definition of a perfect stranger.

Review:

Runaway Vampire begins with a bang. Or a boom if you like. As Mary is headed south in her RV, she is a bit uneasy as this is the first trip she’s made down by herself since her husband died. Then, in a flash of movement and sound, Mary slams on the breaks because she thinks she hit something. Although everything in her tells her she should stay inside the RV, she just can’t, in good conscience, leave something or someone injured. She gets her flashlight and heads out, but doesn’t really see anything. Still uneasy, she runs back into her RV and heads out. Something seems off though and when she goes to check things out in the back of her RV, never in a million years did she expect to find a naked and very injured man in her small bathroom.

As things progress, Dante starts talking about him and his brother being kidnapped, something called life mates and immortals. Of course, Mary thought that he probably had a concussion from being ran over by her RV. She had no idea how much that “bump” in the road was about to change her life, and Dante had no idea how much being the “bump” in the road would change his life……

I love Lynsay Sands. She does such a great job telling touching stories that also make you laugh out loud. For real laugh out loud. I loved Mary’s attitude. For her to be in her 60s and have such a hot “young” thing be attracted to her was hysterical at times with the thoughts that ran through her mind. I’ve waited, as I’m sure all Sands fans have, for Dante’s book. He is one of those that readers just fall for immediately. When I started this book and saw that Mary was his life mate and that her husband had died and she had a daughter, I thought that maybe for the first time, I might not like the story. Which, in the scheme of things being 23 books deep, would not have been the worst thing……… Fortunately, I was waaaay wrong. Readers will absolutely fall in love with Mary and Dante, just as I did. Also love the fact that we just about always get to see our buddies from previous books, which is always a plus. If you’re looking for a quick, fun and sexy read, you can NOT go wrong with this or any of the Argeneau Series. Well done, Lynsay Sands. Very, very well done!

About the book: Release Date September 29, 2015

With immortal good looks and scorching charisma, Justin Bricker has yet to meet a woman he can’t win over. His potential life mate should be no different. But instead of falling into his bed, Holly Bosley runs away and ends up mortally wounded. To save her, he has to turn her. And then Bricker learns the shocking truth: Holly’s already married.

Holly wakes up with a bump on her head, a craving for blood, and a sexy stranger who insists they belong together. She needs Bricker’s help to control her new abilities, even as she tries to resist his relentless seduction. Choosing between the world she knows and the eternity he offers is impossible. But Justin is fighting for his life mate—maybe even his life—and he’ll break every rule to do it.

Review:

Little did Holly Bosley know that when she forgot her purse at work (at a cemetery!!) that things would never be the same. When she retrieves her purse, she sees some papers that the guys need down at the crematorium, but the place scares the bejesus out of her. On top of that, it’s midnight and foggy. She conquers her fears and heads there anyway. But, when she stumbles upon two men throwing bodies into the crematorium, decapitated ones at that, she runs for her life. Anders is busy with the bodies which leaves Justin Bricker to chase after her. And, wouldn’t you know it? He can’t control her or read her thoughts. As he’s chasing her, she stumbles and falls. Bricker reaches her and as he turns her over, he sees that she has fallen on a pair of scissors and stabbed herself in the chest, as well as hit her head on the way down. Unconscious and bleeding to death, Bricker makes a split second decision to turn her. She is, after all, his life mate.

When Holly awakens in a strange room, she has no idea where she is. All she knows is she’s in a hotel room, one that she doesn’t remember going to, and the man’s clothing in the room is definitely NOT her husband’s. When she tries to leave the room, she encounters Lucian, the leader of the Enforcers and Justin’s boss. However, when Bricker tries to explain to her what has happened, all she can think is that this man is nuts and she needs to get away. Fast. As with all newly turned immortals, there is a training period and Lucian places Bricker in charge. His turn, his responsibility. What follows leaves them both confused, as well as attracted to each other. Will Bricker be doomed to live an eternity without his life mate, or will Holly come around when she figures out that there is something…………about a vampire?

The Argeneau Series is one of my absolute favorites, and I’ve waited a long time for Bricker’s story. So, it kills me to say that this one kind of missed the mark for me. Bricker is an awesome character. He’s given his fellow immortals absolute hell over finding their life mates. He’s made fun of them for the lengths they’ve gone to woo their life mates and, at the same time, he’s been their biggest supporter. Great guy, loyal, funny, handsome and deserving of a life mate that is his equal. I didn’t feel that Holly was all that she could be. She was meek and not a real go-getter. But she is loyal. And, she was married. Now, don’t get me wrong. I liked the story and, of course, they ultimately make everything work between them and she upholds her marriage vows, but it just didn’t flow like her other stories. We do get to see a lot of our old friends and their interaction makes you laugh out loud. Not to give away any spoilers, she kills two birds with one stone in this book, which was kind of strange as well, but it was necessary to get Bricker to his happily ever after. All in all, About a Vampire is a good story, written with all of the humor and family interactions that we’ve come to expect from the Argeneaus. If you’re a fan of the series, it’s one you can’t miss. Liked it, just didn’t love it.

About the book: Release Date September 24, 2013

Luck be a vampire tonight . . .

When Nicole Phillips agreed to hire a housekeeper, she pictured someone a little frumpy and almost certainly female. Instead, she gets gorgeous, unmistakably male Jake Colson. The man is proving indispensable in the kitchen—and everywhere else. Except Jake might not be a mortal man at all.

. . . and every night

Who wouldn’t want to be a tall, dark, powerful vampire? Jake, for one. He’s barely had time to adjust to his new state before he’s roped into a family favor. Still, secretly playing bodyguard to sweet, sexy Nicole is turning out to be the wildest ride of his life. First he’ll put a stop to whoever’s targeting her. Then he’ll prove that this kind of love, and luck, happens only once in an eternity.

Review:

Nicole is going through an ugly divorce. She is a very in demand artist, and it seems that her soon to be ex-husband likes living off of his soon to be ex-wife. Enter Marguerite Argeneau Notte. Nicole is the niece of Marguerite’s long time housekeeper and she doesn’t like the “accidents” that keep happening in Nicole’s home, and she knows just what to do to protect her. Fans of this series know what happens when Marguerite gets involved……………Lifemates abound!

Jake Colson was turned in an earlier book in the series, and he didn’t take well to becoming an immortal. Even though Vincent did it to save his life, and he knew of the immortals, he left his family to pursue his own life and became a body guard. When Marguerite approaches him to guard Nicole, she explains the things that have been happening and that she suspects the soon to be ex-husband, Jake reluctantly accepts the job. To top it all off? He has to go in as her housekeeper, because Nicole doesn’t believe that she’s in danger.

Once he arrives at Nicole’s home, he knows that things are not as they should be. Of course, when Marguerite told Nicole that she found her a housekeeper, Nicole thought it would be an older woman, NOT the hunk of hotness that showed up. Things were about to get interesting for them both. Jake realizes that he can’t read or control her and knows that she is his lifemate. How will Nicole take the news that immortals exist? Even more important, how will she react to the news that she’s his lifemate? And, are the accidents the result of the mooching ex-husband? Well, you’ll have to read to find out!

Once again, Sands has written a wonderfully witty romance with a few twists and turns. We get to see some of our old friends, and Marguerite plays a big part in how this story plays out. Jake is almost killed by one of the traps set for Nicole and once some of the enforcers show up to help things along, things really start jumping. The Argeneau series is one of my favorites. It is written with humor, a little action, a little suspense and a whole lot of love. Every installment in this series only reaffirms to me why I love this series so much. If you are looking for a light and fast read with hot men, great heroines and a lot of romance, this is a series for you. I can’t wait for the next one!!

Lynsay Sands-Interview and Giveaway with the Author

Lynsay Sands-Interview and Giveaway with the Author

Lynsay Sands

Immortal Ever After is the 18th storyline in Lynsay Sands Argeneau Series. With her latest release we would like to introduce you to the author:

From her website: Click HERE for more information.

I love books. Reading books takes me away to other worlds and on grand adventures I just couldn’t have otherwise. Writing them does the same, but also lets me play God for a bit. I know that sounds weird, but when writing my stories, I decide who lives and dies, who succeeds or fails and so on. I can give the good guys the happy endings they deserve and be sure the bad guys lose and get their comeuppance. Unfortunately, that’s something that doesn’t always happen in real life.

Perhaps that’s why writers write. Maybe we writers are all secret control freaks, wanting to control the world. Or maybe we’re just dreamers lucky enough to be able to make a living at dreaming. Either way I love writing and would do it whether I was paid for it or not. But I’m very very grateful to be able to share these stories with you. I hope they help you escape your troubles and trials if only for a little bit, and I hope they make you smile…You can be certain I’m often chuckling myself silly while writing them. Enjoy!

Interview blue:black

TRC: Hi Lynsay and welcome to The Reading Café. Congratulations on the release of Immortal Ever After

We would like to start with some background information. Would you please tell us something about yourself?

Lynsay: Uhm… I was born in a small town in Southern Ontario where there were only 12,000 people, and spent a good part of every year on an island in the middle of the Great Lakes which had perhaps 500 people. I mention the island because I really think that growing up there is what turned me into a writer. Whatever inborn urge, skill, or desire I had to write was definitely fostered and nurtured in that environment. There was no TV on this island, at least we never had one there, and reading was my entertainment of choice. I read on the beach, on the cliff, on the boat, in a lawn chair, anywhere I could find a comfy spot. I got lots of fresh air with my romance. I also ruined several books along the way. Fortunately, my grandmother was a demon romance reader and always had a large supply to pilfer from while I waited for my soggy books to sun-dry. However, when I eventually did run out of books to read, I started writing…on the beach, on the cliff on the boat…LOL

TRC: Nano-technology is part of the premise of your best-selling ARGENEAU series. How did you come up with the idea and how much research was involved?

Lynsay: I stumbled upon a great idea for a book about a vampire but I just couldn’t bring myself to write a romance where the main characters were dead. I needed some sort of scientific explanation for my vampires’ existence so I hit the library and did research there as well as on the net in the latest scientific developments and nanos seemed to be the best explanation. I’m not sure how much research was involved. It’s been a while, but I do recall someone commenting that I should take a cot and move into the library. LOL.

immortal ever afterTRC: Immortal Ever After (March 2013) is the latest release in your ARGENEAU series. Would you please tell us about the premise of this storyline?

Lynsay: It’s about Anders. Many of you might recognize his name, as he is a rogue hunter that has appeared in a few books in the series, the most memorable of which would have been The Renegade Hunter. In Immortal Ever After he meets Valerie, a survivor who has escaped a rogue serial killer vampire only to land in Anders’ arms. He quickly discovers she could be the life mate he’s waited over 600 years for. The only question is… When Anders finally explains things to her, will Valerie be able to accept Anders for who he really is, or will she only see him as a bloodthirsty vampire like the monster she escaped.

Argeneau SeriesTRC: How many books do you have planned for the ARGENEAU series?

Lynsay: LOL… there was never a plan. The reason the series is still going is because to date I’m still coming up with new story ideas and readers are still enjoying the series. If either one of these factors change then the series would come to a halt.

TRC: If you could virtually cast the ARGENEAU series, which actors or models would best represent the main characters?

Lynsay: I get this question a lot and honestly I don’t know. I haven’t modeled my characters after any actors or actresses. Their character comes from an amalgamation of people I know; never just one, and they don’t look like anyone I know. They are unique so I wouldn’t be able to pick actors, at least none I can think of off-hand. Sorry!

TRC: The premise of the ARGENEAU series is set in and around the Toronto Ontario Canada area. What were the factors behind your decision to set the series in Canada’s largest city?

Lynsay: The main reason I put the series in Toronto is because I know the city. I won’t write about what I don’t know so rest assured if someplace is in one of my books as more than a pass through, then I’ve been there!

TRC: What five (5) things would you like to accomplish in the next 10 years?

Lynsay: Jeez, I don’t think I have that much I’d like to accomplish… LOL.
Well I’d like to get my renos done on my house because right now I feel really cluttered and disorganized with the way things are at the moment.
I’d like to go on a proper vacation of at least two weeks, as I haven’t had one of those in a very long time.
I’d like to settle into more of a routine with writing so it’s more regular hours like a nine to five thing.
I’d like to go to the biggest amusement park in the world. I love rides.
Other than that I’d like to be queen for at least a day or two. Ok, maybe three. After you’ve been queen then what more could you really accomplish after that? LOL

TRC: What challenges or difficulties have you faced in your writing career?

Lynsay: My first challenge was getting published which luckily I overcame.

I think every writer has bouts of writer’s block. Although frustrating you have to figure out where the block is coming from so you can get around it. Trying to write through the writer’s block just does not work. It’s like hurtling toward a car accident. You have to find a way around it or you will end up in a big pileup in the middle of your story.

TRC: BONUS QUESTION: Who or what is responsible for the selection of the book TITLES and COVERS for authors and their individual series?

Lynsay: My publisher is responsible for the covers although they do ask my opinion so if there’s a real problem with it then they will normally adjust it.
My publisher is the one that comes up with most of the titles, but I have come up with a couple myself that they liked.

TRC: Thank you Lynsay for taking the time to answer our questions. We wish you all the best.

Lynsay: Thank you for having me! I appreciate your thinking of me for an interview. Take care!

immortal ever after

A kiss doesn’t mean eternity . . .

Valerie Moyer doesn’t believe in vampires—until she is kidnapped by a fanged psychopath! After escaping her bloodthirsty captor, she’s through with creatures of the night. Until she finds herself under the protection of the darkly handsome Anders. Not only is she expected to accept that Anders is immortal, but also that she is the woman destined to be his life mate!

. . . Or does it?

Anders felt a connection to Valerie from the moment he cradled her bruised body in his arms. But before he claims her, he must destroy the vampire who almost stole her from him forever. His job would be easier if Valerie didn’t fight him every step of the way. Still, Anders loves a challenge, and the green-eyed beauty is worth fighting for!
