Description:
Ten years ago, Beau Dumont made the biggest mistake of his life by letting his high school sweetheart, Devyn Mauvais, slip through his fingers. Now the reformed bad boy will stop at nothing to get her back. Even if it means tricking her into taking a job on his family’s riverboat, The Belle of the Bayou.

When Devyn’s old flame offers her a stint at the boat’s day care center, she sees it as a chance to prove she isn’t just the descendant of Louisiana’s most infamous voodoo queen. Besides, it beats leading ghost tours around New Orleans. Yet when it comes to Beau, Devyn’s all business. She won’t give the sweet-talking playboy another chance to break her heart.

But there’s no escaping temptation in such close quarters, and Beau won’t be satisfied with a few hot nights with the girl he’s always loved. As he strives to make Devyn remember the good times, will his passion and heart be enough to regain her trust?

Review:

Make You Remember by Macy Beckett is the 2nd book in her Dumont Bachelors series. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, and was excited to learn that Devyn would get her story next. I am happy to say this was another fantastic story by Beckett, that I could not get enough of, as it was a delightful romance and sexy as hell.

To give you a refresher, the Dumont men have been under a curse for almost a 100 years that was put on by Allie and Devyn’s grandmother. But Marc and Allie broke the hex in the first book, and they are now married. We find out in Make You Remember that the hex was only broken for the one brother.

Devyn Mauvais is our heroine, and she is Allie’s sister (our heroine in the first book). Devyn just about makes ends meet, running a shop with witchcraft gris gris. Devyn is offered a well-paying job to become a tour guide of a new company to do Ghost tours, using the Mauvais name. While Devyn has to decide if she wants to embarrass herself and her family to make this money, Beau Dumont comes to a temporary rescue. Beau is our hero, and he has just become a full partner with Marc on their riverboat. Beau offers Devyn a job on the next riverboat tour to run the education classes on the boat. At first Devyn hesitates, since she does not want to be near Beau, who was her high school sweetheart, but he left her to join the marines, and thereby broke her heart. But Beau has returned and he wants Devyn back.

What follows is a fun sweet, not to mention charming romance that sizzles through most of the book. Beau and Devyn made such a wonderful and sexy couple. Though Beau wants to break this hex with Devyn, she is afraid to get hurt again. The side story with Devyn teaching the youngsters on the boat was fun, and we get to see another side of Devyn. Beau was so swoonworthy throughout the book, that you couldn’t help fall for him. Will Devyn get past her fears and anxiety that Beau will run away again? Will they be able to break the hex?

What makes this series so good is not only the fabulous couples, but all the secondary characters that Beckett has made us fall in love with. We can look forward to seeing their stories told. The romance, and storyline was written so well by Macy Beckett. We had everything in this story, a fun and fabulous couple, steamy love scenes, LOL moments, family atmosphere, and the fun riverboat scene. If you want a fun and sweet charming romance; one that sizzles throughout, look no further then Make You Remember.

Review:
Make You Mine by Macy Beckett is the first book in her new series, The Dumont Bachelors.  I have read, and enjoyed previous books by Macy Beckett.  When I heard about her new romance series, The Dumont Bachelors, I knew I had to read it, and let me tell you, I was not wrong, it is awesome.  Make You Mine was a fun read from start to finish. I read this book in a day, and it is a full length novel.

Allie Mauvais is our heroine, who runs her own bakery; and who has from afar always had the hots for Marc Dumont, our rich and luxurious hero.  Marc too has a deep attraction for the beautiful young Allie-Cat.  But Marc, like the rest of his family shies away from any Mauvais, as for 99 years all the Dumont men have been cursed.  The curse was set 99 years ago by Allie’s great grandmother, who was dumped at the altar by a Dumont.

Marc is in charge of running the family riverboat, and is determined to prove himself to his family.  When the pastry chef leaves, Marc desperately calls the agency for help.  To Marc’s surprise, it is Allie who shows up to be the new pastry chef for this two week trip on the Mississippi River.  She wants the exposure for her bakery, not to mention a chance to win over Marc. Allie doesn’t believe in this hex, though she does make money on the side with love spells, even if she is faking it.  Will Allie be able to prove to Marc that the Dumont curse isn’t real?   Is there truly a curse?

What follows is a wonderful and fun story, where Marc and Allie cannot escape their attraction for each other, as their relationship sizzles more each passing day.  Allie must also fight off the reactions of others (Dumonts & others who know the family history) on anything that does go wrong, as she is often looked at first to be the one behind the disasters.  Marc also has his own issues putting a stop to his grandfather’s dislike of Allie, and from the main Chef accusing her of voodoo.

The secondary characters were so well written, I loved most of them, from the Dumont Brothers (Nick, Alex, Beau) to Ella-Claire, a Dumont sister, as well as Allie’s sister Devyn.  It was a fun ride with them all, but all the way to the end, it seemed like this wonderful romance was doomed. Can Marc find a way to get past his fears to stay with Allie? Will Allie be able to prove to Marc that there is no curse?  Or is the curse real and the Mauvais girls will need to break it?

Macy Beckett has written a fabulous sexy and fun filled story, with a couple that is totally burning up our pages/screen with their hot steamy chemistry.  This is going to be great series, and I cannot wait for the next book, which I expect to belong Devyn and Beau.

But there’s a new sheriff in town and he’s none other than Colton Bea, the wild-as-weeds boy who stole her heart a decade earlier. Colt’s a changed man now, and the feelings between these high school sweethearts are stronger than ever. But Leah’s got a secret so devastating that he may never forgive her. Can she find a way to earn absolution and build a future with the sultry man she’s loved half her life?

Review:

Surrender to Sultry is the 3rd book in Macy Beckett’s Sultry Springs series.  The story begins with our heroine, Leah McMahon, who has just come home to Sultry Springs, Texas, after being away for 10 years.  She is home to take care of her ailing father, the town’s preacher.

Colton Bea, is the town sheriff, and our hero in this story.  Colton was the reason Leah left town 10 years ago, though no one knew why.  Colt was the typical bad boy, but now he has matured and he constantly thinks about Leah, even searching for her to no avail.  Colt has always loved Leah, but he treated her badly, as boys like to be boys.  When he finds out she has come home, he rushes out to find her.  Leah had hoped to avoid Colt at all costs, just help mend her father, visit a few friends, and go back to Minnesota.  Leah, even 10 years later, finds herself still attracted to Colt, as she has never stopped loving him.

Colt does everything he can to get Leah to talk to him, and let him apologize.  There were a couple of scenes early on, where Colt is trying to make amends or to get Leah to open up to him.  But the things ‘Crazy Colt’ says, brings back horrible memories for Leah.  I myself did not like when he kept reminding her of what he did, as well as the stupid joke from one of Colt’s friends that was embarrassing.

Leah has her own secrets, which is the real reason she left Sultry Springs.  Only Leah’s father knows the truth.  As much as Colt shows Leah how much he still cares about her, and that he has changed, she is very much afraid.   She was hurt badly, and fears that if she rekindles this romance, she will not be able to handle the heartbreak again.  But it is this secret that also keeps Leah at a distance, for she knows if Colt finds out the truth, there relationship will be destroyed.  Though she knows what she did was the best thing for everyone.  Since I will try to stay away from spoilers, you will have read this book, to find out this secret?

Despite not being crazy about Colt very early, I really loved how Beckett slowly built up this romance again.  They ended up being a great couple, each having their own issues.  There sexual chemistry was great, and very steamy.  Colt did everything he could to win Leah back, even setting up a prom atmosphere in his house, with her prom dress, flowers, éclairs, and music; since they did not get to go to the prom, when she left town years before.  Though this had its wonderful HEA, the last ¼ of the book was an emotional rollercoaster of a ride, with Beckett pulling all of our heart strings.  Macy Beckett has a wonderful series in Sultry Springs. I have read them all, and look forward to continuing to spend time in Sultry Springs.  Surrender to Sultry was a wonderful read that I wholly recommend.

A Shot of Sultry by Macy Beckett – a Review

a shot of sultry

Description:

For West Coast filmmaker Bobbi Gallagher, going back to Sultry Springs is a last resort. But with her career in tatters, a quick trip to her hometown might get her the footage she needs to salvage her reputation. She just can’t let anything distract her again. Not even the gorgeous contractor her brother asked to watch over her. As if she can’t handle filming a few rowdy Texans.

Golden boy Trey Lewis, with his blond hair and Technicolor-blue eyes, is a leading man if Bobbi ever saw one. He’s strong and confident and–much to her delight–usually shirtless. He thinks keeping his best friend’s baby sister out of trouble will be easy. But he has no idea of the trouble in store for him.

Review:

A Shot of Sultry by Macy Beckett takes place in the town of Sultry Springs.  When I received this book to review, I did not know this was the second book in the series.  The first book, Sultry with a Twist was the first book, and even though I did not read it, I was able to enjoy A Shot of Sultry anyway.  I did get to meet the lead characters from the first book, and really loved those characters, so I will have to go back and read that book.

But this review is about A Shot of Sultry, and the lead characters were a wonderful romantic couple.  Bobbi Gallagher, our heroine, is a documentary filmmaker, who finds herself filming a wedding, since she is having a hard time getting work, as a trusted colleague put her career in tatters.  She gets an offer to do a reality show, which she accepts, as she needs the money.  Bobbi takes her team to Texas, where her brother lives, and where there are hot cowboys; just perfect for the reality show, Sex in the Sticks.  Bobbi is determined to save money living a few months with her brother Luke, and his wife, June (the hero and heroine of book 1), in order for her to try to win back her career as a respected filmmaker.

It is in Sultry Springs that we meet our hero, Trey Lewis.  When Bobbie meets Trey, before she can explain why she is there, Trey tries to throw her out of the bar they are in and a hilarious scene.   Both Trey and Bobbi have their own personal issues, each from either family or childhood.  The chemistry between the two of them is mega hot and steamy.  The problem is that Trey is a womanizer, not believing in anything long term. His friend, Colton, is the same.   Bobbi, uses both men to be the main part of her reality show, but finds her self unable to avoid Trey’s advances.  Trey is really a fun guy, not to mention totally gorgeous.  I can totally understand Bobbi having a hard time fighting him off, and trying keep this professional.

Bobbi had a bad childhood, with a mother that her brother Luke was lucky not to have had to spent time growing up with.  Trey finding himself really beginning to care for Bobbi, tries to learn more about her childhood, and help her rise above her distrust of relationships.  But Bobbi’s fears of rejection, causes her to do some dumb things.  But it is fun to watch them falling in love, and try to get past those obstacles.

There are quite a few wonderful characters in this series, as I loved Luke and June, as well as Colton, the sexy sheriff, not to mention Trey and Bobbi.  Macy Beckett does an excellent job of making you like her characters, and you become invested in their lives.  I can’t wait for the next book in the series, and as I said, I will be going back to read the first book. If you love romance, sexy and humorous scenes, this book is for you.
