Five years earlier Jade Gallagher took the blame for a murder she did not commit in order to protect someone she loved but five years of abuse and torture at the hands of the prison guards found Jade planning her retribution one repayment at a time. The relationship between Javier and Hope begins as employee and employer but a relationship that quickly turns volatile and unfriendly. Javier’s attraction to Hope is manifested with anger and reluctance. Javier knows it is only a matter of time before he crosses the line from which there will be no return. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, seductive and intense with some scenes of spanking.

We are reintroduced to Javier’s brother Rafael and his wife Carrie, as well as their mother Elizabeth, and grandfather Luis Castillo. Hope’s large extended family is present but mostly off-page.

JAVIER is a story of family and relationships, support and acceptance, revelations and surprises, hope and love. The premise is entertaining and captivating; the romance is passionate and edgy; the characters are determined and energetic.

We are introduced to Carrie’s twin brothers Riley and Elliott, and her best friend Jennifer; Rafael’s brother Javier who is often pushing all of our hero’s buttons, as well as their mother Elizabeth Castillo, and several employees who work for the Castillo Corporation/ Castillo Construction. Javier’s story is next.

RAFAEL is a fast paced story of power and control, obsession and attraction, insta lust, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging; the romance is provocative and passionate but questionable on so many levels; the characters are desperate and charismatic.

I will suggest another round of edits as there are a number of spelling and grammar errors as well as missing words. As this is a re-release and refurbished edition, there should not have been so many issues.

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me. 

I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn’t long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn’t sleep without the light on until I was about ten.

I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.

I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I’ve gotten better and now I’m writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way. 

As a plus size woman myself, I have started writing the stories I always wanted to see myself in but never did. And now I’m ecstatic to give BBWs the happily ever afters with hot Alphas I want to read.

The relationship between Lucia and Alejandro is an age-gap romance wherein Alejandro hires Lucia to be both nanny and a woman to warm his bed. From the outset their mutual attraction is palpable but Lucia knows that if her secrets are revealed, her life will be forfeit, along with the life of her father back home. The $ex scenes are intimate, seductive and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in previous story lines. We are introduced to several of Alejandro’s security and members of the Ramirez Cartel, as well as Lucia’s father William, and the housekeeper/ former nanny Estelle. The requisite evil has many faces.

RUTHLESS KING is a story of betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, power and control, trust and obsession. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is captivating and provocative; the characters are broken, desperate , charismatic and lost.

Raw heat is still streaking through my body just from the mere handshake.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more perfect man. 

Eyes the shade of a crow’s wing are locked on mine, and full symmetrical lips quirk up into a mercurial smile.

His face is all angles with high exotic cheekbones and a chiseled jaw you’d find on a storybook prince. The bright morning sun shines over his skin, making it look like the sun kissed it that color bronze. 

The gray streaks in his beard, hairline, and temples only serve to highlight his beauty and strength in what I can see of the rest of his body. As if to highlight that his perfection came with age and he’ll look even better and better, and sexier, the older he gets. The silver hoop in his ear tames him a fraction, adding to his style but also conjuring the image of a pirate in my mind. It gives a glimpse of the conquering cartel king he is. 

Of course, I was given a picture of Alejandro Ramírez before coming to this ill-fated interview. So, I already knew he looks like a seamless blend of Antonio Banderas and my all-time favorite Mexican actor Eduardo Verástegui. 

Alejandro is what they would look like if they were one person. 

The lucid image makes me wonder if I really am stuck in a fucked-up rendition of a dark fairytale. One where he is the prince and I’m the villain, or maybe everyone is the antithesis to good in this story.

The final installment of The DiLustro Arrangement series is filled with excitement, drama, and pulse pounding pages that I couldn’t put down. Violette and Santino are a power couple!

First in the The DiLustro series Mafia Bride and then followed by Mafia King, each book is crucial to the story and really should be read before finishing Mafia Queen. Each book is a critical piece in the puzzle of the series. Reiss’ characters develop and grow so much in each book, each changing and growing into themselves. Secrets are uncovered, loyalties tested, family and friends betrayed and bloody violence. Finally, the story comes to it’s ever growing, and long awaited climax.

Violette has blossomed into a new woman, one that protects what’s her no matter what, one that won’t let anyone get in her way of what she wants, or take what she has earned. She is a force to fear, and with that, the book really starts its exhilarating dive into the final conclusion. Violette will destroy anyone that comes for her crown and the throne that comes with it.

The series as a whole went far beyond my expectations. The steamy scene, holy heaven above! Ladies be warned, you’re gonna need some personal time after this book. The plot is easy to follow and keeps the reader’s attention, enough of the story is left after each book that it keeps us coming back for more. I was turning the pages faster and faster as the book progressed but not wanting it to end at the same time. Reiss has a great way of incorporating romance, crime and love together in a way that I found so much fun to read. The entire series is a must read, five stars.

REVIEW:Never has there been a Mafia romance quite like this one. CD has a way of displaying her character so open, that you can’t help to see what makes them tick. Mafia King is a heart-pounding, violent romance that will leave your hands shaking and your mind reeling. In one word, suspenseful.

Book one is recommended as a first read, Mafia Bride is the beginning of it all, and this story branches off from that. Violetta is stuck between a rock and a hard place by her own making, her hate for him starts to become love and the life she wants them to lead together slowly becomes something she yearns for. However, nothing is ever simple with a DiLustro.

Mafia King is much more fast paced than the previous book was, there is so much happening at all times. Secrets and lies, vows and loyalty are tested and the cliffhanger! OMG! The cliffhanger! That was cruel and unusual punishment to make us wait until the next book!!! I can’t wait to see what CD has in store for Violetta and Santino.

What an amazingly, wonderful Mafia romance. There is a warning at the beginning of the book, please take it to heart. This book isn’t for the faint hearted. I don’t normally gravitate to “Mafia” style books – this book has remnants of loved characters from previous series’! I just love a good crossover book and Michelle Heard is the queen of crossover!

I read this book in one sitting and it was fast paced and amazingly wonderful! I can’t state enough to try all of Michelle Heards books! While this is a stand alone it is so much more enjoyable with all of the other books!
Highly recommend!
