Same story, different day.

That seems to be the theme of my life.

My new job with Cerberus is no different than the one I left before working for ICE.

People always blur together, nothing special about any of them.

Of course, my luck runs out when I’m assigned to an establishment that caters to peoples’ deepest fantasies.

There should be nothing special about the woman. Her lack of clothes is no different than most of the other people there.

Her eyes following me isn’t new. People tend to look in my direction when I walk into a room.

Yet, I find myself incapable of looking away from her.

I never expected the woman strapped to the cross to also be the children’s counselor who shows up to help a teammate’s son.

It would be my luck that the one woman who made me look twice is also off-limits.

REVIEW:JERSEY is the fourth instalment Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC: TENNESSEE erotic, MC romance series-a spin off from the author’s CERBERUS MC series. This is former ICE agent turned Cerberus member Roman aka Jersey Parker and counsellor Caitlyn Rudd’s story line. JERSEY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Several characters from the original series including founder of the original New Mexico chapter Diego ‘Kincaid’ Anderson, Jericho and Hemlock, cross over for cohesion and back story.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Caitlyn and Jersey) JERSEY follows the building romance and relationship between Cerberus member Roman aka Jersey Parker and counsellor Caitlyn Rudd. While on assignment ferreting out a possible sexual trafficking ring, Jersey will comes face to face with his future in the guise of Caitlyn Rudd, a woman whose aversion to touch finds her seeking touch therapy at a local club but from the outset Jersey struggles with his attraction to the woman with whom he will fall in love, an attraction he continues to deny until the very end. Caitlyn Rudd has not one but two stalkers, and in this, our heroine must face the reality of what is happening and why. With the help of the Cerberus MC, Caitlyn comes to terms with her future, and her future no longer includes the man that she loves.

The world building focuses on several pathways including the take down of a sexual trafficking ring; the ongoing therapy for not just Caitlyn, but for a young man who has seen too much pain and death, as well as Jersey’s acceptance of his past, and looking forward to the future.

The relationship between Jersey and Caitlyn is one of immediate attraction but both Caitlyn and Jersey struggle with demons from the past, demons that push Jersey out of Caitlyn’s life. As Caitlyn faces her own battles, Jersey is determined to fix everything he did wrong. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic and determined secondary and supporting characters many of whom we met in the previous story lines and original series. We are introduced to Dr. Rhonda Moore, as well as the return of Zeus and Lark. The requisite evil has many faces.

JERSEY is a story of secrets and lies,betrayal and obsession, power and control, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic and edgy; the romance is passionate; the characters are broken and trouble but determined to heal.

The relationship between Jericho and Aspen is one of second chances. Aspen destroyed Jericho’s heart when she refused to acknowledge their love. Left for dead, Jericho would find a family with the Cerberus MC, a family that would die to protect the people they love.The $ex scenes are limited but provocative and passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Cerberus New Mexico including Kincaid, as well as the Tennessee MC members: Hemlock, Ace, Jersey, and counselor Caitlyn. The requisite evil has many faces.

JERICHO is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, trauma and dysfunction, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic, emotional and heart breaking; the characters are broken, charismatic and struggling; the romance is impassioned.

REVIEW: HEATHEN : A Very Cerberus Halloween is the first instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, an adult CERBERUS MC: LAS VEGAS MC romantic suspense series focusing on the members of the Cerberus MC- all former members of the US Marines. Cerberus MC: Las Vegas is a spin off set in the author’s Cerberus MC world. This is thirty year old, former US Marine Ellis ‘Heathen’ Burke, and twenty-six grocery store clerk year old Kaylee Rhodes’ story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kaylee and Heathen) HEATHEN follows in the wake of the Cerberus MC setting up a new chapter in Las Vegas. Ellis ‘Heathen ‘ Burke is one of several Cerberus MC members to be assigned to Las Vegas  in their endeavour to hunt down human traffickers but Heathen never expected the first woman he met to fall victim to the very people he is fighting to take down. Marrying Kaylee to protect her life, Heathen must face the men of Cerberus MC, in the hopes of uncovering the people responsible.

The world building focuses on the start up of the Las Vegas chapter of the Cerberus MC, and their first foray into taking down a human trafficking ring selling Russian brides, and one home grown American woman who made herself a target of some powerful men. A little TSTL (Too stupid to live) Kaylee walked into trouble wherever she went, bringing with it trouble to the Cerberus MC.

The relationship between Heathen and Kaylee begins when Heathen suspects Kaylee is in trouble. Heathen had previously met Kaylee at her job but finding Haylee’s car at a suspicious warehouse eventually brought the wrath of the Cerberus MC to their door. Marrying Haylee to keep her safe meant bringing facing the MC he would soon call brothers but marrying Haylee would be questioned by all. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

We are introduced to the new members for the Las Vegas Chapter of the Cerberus MC (Twisted, Bandera, Rooster) ,as well as the return of some of the original brothers (Kincaid and Dominic). We are introduced to Haylee’s best friend Morgan.

HEATHEN is a story of new beginning and friendships, power and control, betrayal and madness, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is haunting; the romance is slow building and guarded ; the characters are determined and spirited but Kaylee Burke’s behavior was often questionable in the face of what was happening and why.

As to the ‘Halloween’ aspect of the story line-it is limited and almost non-existent.

The world building follows the search for a missing woman, a woman with a rebellious streak, who has struggled all of her life. From a prominent political family. Cora and her siblings always had specific roles to play but the loss of their parents found Cora taking charge when her eldest brother sought election to the highest seat in the land.

The relationship between Cora and Eddie begins acrimoniously. Eddie struggles with his latest assignment believing he is better suited to something else.Going head to head with Cora Preston forces Eddie to take charge when Cora’s life is threatened, unaware of the potential trouble she is about to unleash. Working together to find Sadie, Cora finds herself falling for a man who has been alone most of his life. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include the return and cameo of several Cerberus MC members from the original series, as well as the introduction of Cora’s brothers, William Preston, and Christopher; and their housekeeper Faye.

ACE is a story of betrayal and madness, grief and acceptance, family and love. The premise is dramatic, intriguing and entertaining; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are desperate and determined.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Zara and Pax) HEMLOCK follows Pax ‘Hemlock ‘ Hart as he starts a new life with Tennessee chapter of the Cerberus MC. Struggling to find a place, a direction in life, former US Marine Pax ‘Hemlock’ Hart is desperate for a change of scenery, and finds himself transferred to Tennessee with the new chapter of the Cerberus MC but Hemlock’s first assignment is to infiltrate a bar suspected as a front for human trafficking, a bar where he will meet Zara Hailey, the woman with whom Hemlock will fall in love. Under cover as Owen Clark, Hemlock will take advantage of a naive Zara Hailey as he tries to uncover the truth about the secrets at the local bar. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Zara and Hemlock, and the potential fall-out as Hemlock believes he is not worthy of his own happily ever after.

The world building follows the building but reluctant relationship between our story line couple as Hemlock goes in undercover to ferret out a potential human trafficking ring. The members of the Cerberus MC are all former military men, and in this, their duty to serve and protect is often counterproductive when the heart wants something more.

The relationship between Hemlock and Zara is forbidden by Hemlock’s current handler; a relationship predicated on a lie; an affair of which Hemlock wants nothing more than information and a good time. Zara claims she doesn’t want love but the more time spent together finds our heroine falling for a man who is hard to love. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to several members of the newly established Cerberus MC: Tennessee, as well as Roman ‘Jersey’ Parker; ICE Special Agent Eddie ‘Ace’ Yarrow and some familiar faces from the original Cerberus MC including Kincaid.

HEMLOCK is a story of struggle and obsession, secrets and lies, friendships and family, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing, dramatic and captivating but the ‘take down’ of the bad guy was mostly behind the scenes; the romance was aggressive and intense; the characters were dynamic yet broken.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Brielle and Beck) NEWTON follows in the wake of the escape of our story line heroine from the men who had used and abused her for most of her life. Seeking refuge, Brielle discovers she is unable to remain in Ohio, and finds herself in Texas, at a women’s shelter protected by the Cerberus MC but one year later, Brielle’s past has discovered her whereabouts, and this threatens all of the women with whom she has grown close and loved. As the Cerberus MC quickly moves and relocates all of the women and children, Brielle finds herself under the protection of Beck ‘Newton’ Keller, the man with whom she will fall in love but Brielle continues to struggle with the ever present fear of being discovered, and the truth about what she was forced to do and why. What ensues is the building but tepid relationship between Brielle and Beck, and the potential fall-out when Brielle’s past returns forcing our heroine to reject the man that she loves.

The world building continues to focus on the Cerberus MC and their duty to protect the most vulnerable; to search and rescue those missing or lost; and to recover and return those unable to defend themselves.

The relationship between Brielle and Beck is trepidatious at best. Brielle is unable to trust Beck or any other person she encounter in her life, and in this, Brielle often secludes herself from everyone else. Days will pass before Brielle is able to acknowledge the man who is desperate to protect our story line heroine but Beck knows all to well the damage cause and inflicted by the people who were meant to love and protect. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Cerberus MC Texas, as well as several law enforcement officials and agencies. The requisite evil has many faces.

NEWTON is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, good and evil, secrets and lies, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is emotional and dramatic-at times I could not foresee a happily ever after for our story line couple ; the romance is heart breaking; the characters are broken but determined. NEWTON also introduces the start of a new spin-off series focusing on a new charter of the Cerberus MC in Tennessee with Hemlock.

REVIEW:EASIER SAID THAN DONE is the second instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult LINDELL erotic, romance series focusing on the small town of Lindell Texas. This is police chief Cash Tucker, and baker Adalynn Tate’s story line. EASIER SAID THAN DONE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Adalynn and Cash) EASIER SAID THAN DONE follows the best friends to lovers relationship between Adalynn and Cash. Adalynn Tate has been in love with her best friend Cash Tucker for years but when Adalynn’s best friend Madison announces her pregnancy, Adalynn is determined to have a baby on her own. Cash Tucker doesn’t’ do relationships, and in the wake of his less than optimal childhood, Cash claims he doesn’t want children either but when Cash discover Adalynn is going to use an anonymous donor, Cash offers up his services to make a baby the old fashioned way. What ensues is the struggling relationship between Cash and Adalynn, and the fall-out as jealousy and misunderstanding threaten a life-long friendship in the face of a broken heart.

The world building focuses on the life-long friendship between our story line couple. Both Cash and Adalynn have loved one another for as long as they can remember but making a baby comes with the fall-out of jealousy and miscommunication, and in this Adalynn begins to push our hero, out of her life.

The relationship between Cash and Adalynn is a best friends to lovers in which Cash is determined to father Adalynn’s child but Adalynn knows Cash never wanted to have children, and the ramifications threaten their friendship when Adalynn suspects there is someone else. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and provocative-Cash likes to talk dirty in the bedroom.

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include many of the locals as well as Adalynn’s over-protective brothers Donnie and Ronnie, and their parents and step-parents: Robin and Donald, Gina and Charlie:bar owner Walker Conroy, Cash’s assistant Eastyn; single mother Claire, Madison and Chase, and Sheriff Mike Hodson.

EASIER SAID THAN DONE is a story of family and friendships, secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The fast paced premise is riveting and heart breaking; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Madison and Chase)BACK AGAINST THE WALL follows the building but acrimonious relationship between our story line couple. Madison Kelly has returned to her home town of Lindell, Texas with her proverbial tail tucked between her legs in desperate need of a job but Madison never expected to come face to face with the bane of her existence, newly single father Chase Woodson. Chase’s hockey career is done; he caught his wife with another man; and he too, has returned to his home town. Struggling to do it all, Chase needs to hire a nanny for his twin boys, and his only hope is our story line heroine. What ensues is then building but tempestuous relationship between Chase and Madison,and the fall out as several misunderstandings, and things said in anger, threaten the future for our story line couple.

The world building focuses on the miscommunication, misunderstandings, anger and hatred between our story line couple. Chase returned to Lindell in the wake of betrayal, and his inability to trust threatens any hope with the woman who has stolen his heart.

The relationship between Madison and Chase is belligerent and caustic. Madison blames Chase for ruining her teenaged years, and Chase’s fame makes him a target , and Madison is about to pay for his inability to trust. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text .

We are introduced to Madison’s parents, her friend Adalynn: Cash Tucker, Sheriff Hudson, as well as Chase’s ex, his father Henry, and Chase’s sons Cole and Cale.

BACK AGAINST THE WALL is a story of misunderstandings and miscommunication, betrayal, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating, dramatic and intense; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are energetic and charismatic.
