ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 13, 2024

Within weeks of my thirty-ninth birthday, I lost my thirty-ninth patient and all feeling. I was certain it would pass, only it continued into the next day and the weeks after.

In order to treat my patients, I needed to feel something. Without feeling, I couldn’t stay. Not in oncology and not in Baltimore.

So, I’m back in Dallas after more than twenty years gone. Home, my mother keeps saying with happiness.

Happiness I still can’t feel more than four months after that day. I’m beginning to accept feeling isn’t coming back.

Until the moment I walk into an exam room and look into her eyes. All at once, feeling comes rushing back as suddenly as it disappeared.

She’s my patient. It’s all kinds of wrong to want her, no matter what television portrays. Add in the fact she’s running from an abusive husband. I should be staying far away from her, not taking her and her daughter home with me.

But I can’t walk away from her. They’re living in a crappy motel, barely surviving. I have a room, a safe place for her to recover and heal. She needs time and patience before she’s strong enough for me to tell her the way I feel.

I’ll give it to her. And hopefully, she’ll grow strong enough to trust in me and fall in love with me the same way I’ve fallen for her and her baby daughter.

There’s one shadow over our growing the man who beat her badly enough to send her running. I’ll do whatever it takes to ensure he never gets close enough to Amy or her daughter to ever hurt them again. My money should be enough to get him to leave us alone, but if it’s not, I have no problem using any means necessary.

REVIEW: MATTEO is the third instalment in Fiona Murphy’s contemporary, adult THE CASTILLO FAMILY erotic, romance series. This is thirty-nine year old billionaire oncologist Dr. Matteo Castillo, and twenty-seven year old single mother Amy Richards’ story line. MATTEO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including domestic abuse, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Matteo and Amy) MATTEO follows the slow building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Amy Richards is on the run with her nine month old daughter Layla from her abusive husband but when Amy suddenly takes ill, she finds herself under the care of Dr. Matteo Castillo, a man with a severe case of white knight syndrome. Dr. Matteo Castillo left his practice, returned home to start a free clinic for those otherwise unable to pay for medical care but Matteo never expected to find his future in the guise of single mother Amy Richards. Offering his house, his money and his love to Amy gave Matteo hopes for a future, and with the help of his mother, Matteo finds himself falling for a woman who is desperate to escape the past. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Amy and Matteo, and the potential fall-out when the past comes looking for something more.

The world building primarily focuses on Matteo’s infatuation, need and obsession with out story line heroine. From the moment they meet, Matteo takes control, moving Amy and her daughter Layla into his home, claiming our heroine as his future. As Matteo works behind the scenes to separate Amy from her past, our heroine is completely unaware of Matteo’s plans for her future.

The relationship between Amy and Matteo is one of immediate attraction for Matteo but Amy is too ill to truly comprehend Matteo’s actions.Matteo will take over Amy’s life ensuring her complete dependence, a dependence Amy is only too willing to accept in the face of her situation. The $ex scene are provocative and passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are familiar and determined. We are reintroduced to Matteo’s sibling: Javier and Hope, Rafael and Carrie, and Santos, as well as their mother Elizabeth. Rafael and Javier are worried about Matteo’s obsession with Amy but Elizabeth is determined to make her one of their own.

MATTEO is a story of abuse and recovery, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is captivating and entertaining; the slow building romance is seductive and intense; the characters are desperate -Matteo is fixated and bewitched by our story line heroine -a noticeable ‘white knight’ syndrome in the face of past events.

The numerous epilogues fast forward the series approximately twenty-three years ending on a cliff-hanger, crossing over with the characters from the author’s Beautiful Broken Obsession, book one in the Bratva Bound series.

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.

I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn’t long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn’t sleep without the light on until I was about ten.

I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.

I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I’ve gotten better and now I’m writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.

As a plus size woman myself, I have started writing the stories I always wanted to see myself in but never did. And now I’m ecstatic to give BBWs the happily ever afters with hot Alphas I want to read.
