REVIEW: DON’T SEDUCE A SPECTRE is the third instalment in Melody Raven’s contemporary, adult CRAVEN MANOR romantic, suspense series focusing on former Chicago accountant Layla Craven. DON’T SEDUCE A SPECTER can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

SOME BACKGROUND: Having recently inherited Craven Manor located in the small but magical town of Ashland Springs, from an aunt she never knew existed, Layla quickly discovers that all is not as it appears to be in Ashland Springs. From magic to mayhem, ghosts and potions, murder and mystery, Craven Manor begins revealing its’ secrets one supernatural entity at a time including a small kitten that may or may not be of the feline variety.

Told from first person perspective (Layla) DON’T SEDUCE A SPECTER follows in the wake of yet another murder in Ashland Springs. The town is preparing for their annual community theater presentation, and our heroine, Layla Craven has ‘volunteered’ to help but shortly after her arrival, the body of theatre critic and reviewer Shane Lawson is discovered, and our heroine begins an investigation into the death, on her own. Now that her houseguest has become more or less corporeal, thanks to the presence of a magic, Layla struggles with her attraction to Adam, believing she is no longer the object of his desire and attraction but as Layla continues to investigate the murder, someone else is threatening to take down our story line heroine. With the help of her bestie Poppy, the man that she loves Adam, and a little kitten called Bubbles, Layla is about to become the center of attention in a game of betrayal and greed.

The relationship between Adam and Layla has been building throughout the series but Adam is a ghost who has no idea as to the how or why. His attraction to Layla is matched only by Layla’s need to put some distance between herself and the man with whom she is falling in love but everything in the town of Ashland Springs is centred on magic, and Layla is caught in the middle without knowing why.

DON’T SEDUCE A SPECTER is the third and final instalment in the fast paced trilogy focusing on Layla and Adam ..but.. there is no resolution to several other aspects of the series premise, which is frustrating on soooo many levels. I am going to go out on a limb and say that, hopefully, the author has plans to write more stories focusing on the people and town of Ashland Springs – we need the details and backstory, history and fates of Adam, Layla’s aunt Carolann, Poppy, and of course, Bubbles’ appearance and magical abilities.

DON’T SEDUCE A SPECTER is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and greed, love and acceptance, magic and murder. The premise is intriguing; the romance is unique and captivating; the characters are magical, determined and odd.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2022

I was stolen by the Fae. Trapped in a cell while they played tricks on my mind and body counting down the days until I would waste away to nothing.
But then he came. The golden fae king. He freed me. He promised to send me home. But I should be used to fae tricks by now. Because he was never going to let me go.
He had just taken me for himself. And if I thought I was in trouble before, that was nothing.
Because now I belong to the Seelie King

•••••••

REVIEW: FAE’S POSSESSION is the third instalment in Melody Raven’s contemporary, adult WICKED FAE paranormal, romance series. This is King of the Seelie Fae Seran, and human female student Lucy’s story line. FAE’S POSSESSION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: In a war between the Dark and the Light Fae, a spell was launched that got out of control leaving all of the Fae woman dead or barren. The Light have been accused of killing most of the Dark Fae women and children, and in the ensuing aftermath, the Dark Fae were slowly dying out. In an attempt to repopulate the Dark Fae species, the Unseelie began a series of human abductions, in an effort to see if the matings will work.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Seran and Lucy) FAE’S POSSESSION follows in the aftermath of the abduction of Lucy and a number of students at a college part. Lucy didn’t want to go to the party but upon her arrival she knew immediately something was wrong. Refusing to eat or drink anything that was served she soon realized not all was as it seemed, a glamor had been forced upon everyone in attendance. Finding herself a prisoner of the Fae, more specifically a powerful Fae named Culven, she would be rescued by the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter King Seran. What ensues is the rescue and seduction of our story line heroine, and the fall-out as Culven comes searching for the one who got away.

King Seran knew immediately that the human female was his mate but controlling his future wife would be more difficult as the human female struggled to trust in the face of what happened and why. Hoping to rescue all of the women trapped within Culven’s spell, Lucy and Seran would have to give everyone a choice, a choice to return or become the mate of a Fae.

The relationship between Seran and Lucy begins acrimoniously as Lucy is the captive of Culven. Refusing to eat or drink anything Culven has to offer, Lucy finds herself at an advantage, fully aware of everything going on. Upon her rescue, Seran would claim Lucy as his own but our heroine continued to battle between head and heart knowing most of the women were never given a choice. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

We are introduced to Seran’s second in command Dagen, as well as the return of King Jaiden and his mate Raina (Fae’s Claimed 2), and a number of Fae and Elves who don’t take lightly to possibility of Lucy ascending the throne.

FAE’S POSSESSION is a story of desperation and obsession, magic, power and control, love and attraction. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate and determined.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 11, 2022

The Unseelie Court is getting a fresh shipment of virgins… Will these women be able to withstand the wickedest fae’s tempting ways?

Kier
I requested beautiful virgins. Meek, mild females to save our kingdom from destruction. What I got was a firebird who would rather burn to herself down with the entire palace rather than surrender.

I’m the right hand to the Unseelie Fae king. If anyone can tame her wild ways, it’s going to be me. And I never expected to enjoy pulling my firebird into my wicked ways quite as much as I am…

Mia
I call him Snake Eyes. Hypnotizing. Deceitful. And number one on my hit list.

Because one way or another, I’m going to escape these crazy men who think they can control me. If Kier threatened me with violence or death, I could handle him. But he works in tricks and deals. His promises lead to nights so sweet that even my own body starts to betray me.

But my time is limited. The fae king will be ordering more human women any day now and a dark witch will help me but only if I offer myself over to a different type of darkness altogether.

Can I give up on going home if that means letting Snake Eyes win? And will Kier even want a firebird if she is caged?

REVIEW: FAE’S PRISONER is the first instalment in Melody Raven’s adult WICKED FAE erotic, paranormal romance series. This is twenty-eight year old human female Mia, and Unseelie Fae General Kier’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mia and Kier) FAE’S PRISONER follows in the aftermath of the abduction of several human females, all virgins, who were selected as mates for a number of Dark Fae warriors. In a war between the Dark and the Light, the Light killed most of the women and children, and in the ensuing aftermath, the Dark Fae were slowly dying out. In an attempt to repopulate the Dark Fae species, the Unseelie began a series of human abduction, in an effort to see if the matings will work. Enter twenty-eight year old human female Mia, and Unseelie Fae General Kier.

From the outset, Mia was never intended for our story line hero but Mia is a strong, independent and aggressive human female, perfect for the General of the Unseelie Fae. Mia has no desire to remain beyond the portal, and when approached by a mysterious stranger with a proposition, Mia regrets accepting, knowing she may lose the man with whom she is falling in love. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship betweenMia and Kier, and the potential fall-out as Kier’s life hangs in the balance when Mia makes a deal she cannot fathom.

The relationship between Mia and Kier begins acrimoniously as Mia and her ‘friends’ are a victim of a kidnapping. The Dark Fae are desperate to replenish their population, most of the males are without relationships or love. As Kier begins to fall for his feisty human female, Mia continues to struggles between head and heart knowing that to give means to lose the ongoing battle. The $ex scenes are passionate and aggressive but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

We are introduced to human females Grace and Sienna; Dark Fae warrior Elron; their King Jaiden; witch Melusine, and the demidragon Thrax. King Jaiden’s story line is next in FAE’S CLAIMED.

FAE’S PRISONER is a character driven, fast paced story of desperation and betrayal, magic and murder, acceptance and love . The premise is enchanting and edgy ; the characters are animated, spirited and stubborn; the romance is seductive and intense.
