ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 23, 2024

In this finale, Lydia and Daniel are bracing themselves for his inevitable decline but first, they must go on a rescue mission that will put both their lives in danger.

•••••

REVIEW:MINE is the third and final instalment in JR Ward’s contemporary, adult THE LAIR OF THE WOLVEN paranormal, urban fantasy series-a spin off set in the author’s Black Dagger Brotherhood world. This is drifter/handyman Daniel Joseph, and wolven/scientist/wolf behaviorist Lydia Susi’s storyline. MINE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events of book two FOREVER.

NOTE: The Wolven were first introduced in JR Ward’s LOVER UNLEASHED, and first appear in THE JACKAL.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives, following two intersecting paths MINE is the culmination of three instalments in which our hero Daniel Joseph, slowly dying from cancer, struggles with the inevitable, and his relationship with Lydia Susi, a wolven who is desperate to save the man whom she loves. Meanwhile, Dr. Gus St. Claire, has developed a possible cure for cancer but his lady love, Dr. CP Phalen, has refused his treatment, and the doctor becomes a target of someone hoping to claim what the doctor has developed.

Adding to the already complicated story line, sympath, and John Matthew’s shellan Xhex is fighting her own battles, and the demons from the past may be interfering in with her life going forward. All is not well with John Matthew’s love, and the evidence reveals Xhex may have crossed a line of no return. Struggling with the return of her brother Blade, Xhex discovers Blade has a softer side for family and friends.

MINE is a complicated and detailed story line building upon the previous two instalments. Cancer is pervasive throughout the trilogy, a cure, a stumble, greed and a couple of happily ever afters, as well as a cyborg army but saying that, there remains many unanswered questions including the reveal of the person(s) behind a series of grizzly murders, and Xhex’s brother Blade’s future, a man who fell in love with a woman who was in love with another man. The premise is dramatic; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are dynamic and charismatic.

•••••••••••

REVIEW; MINE is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult TIES THAT BIND dark, Russian mafia romance series co authored by Natasha Knight and A. Zavarelli. MINE follows the acrimonious relationship between mobster Levka ‘Lev’ Antonov, and teacher’s aid Katerina ‘Kat’ Blake.

WARNING: Due to the graphic violence and nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kat and Lev) using two different time lines MINE follows Katerina Blake on her nineteenth birthday where she will meet Lev Antonov, a man who is about to destroy her world. On the run, following the murder of her friend, Katerina will leave everything behind when her world collides with the Russian mob. Four years will pass before Kat must face the past, a past that will quickly divide into two intersecting paths. Trying to protect the son he never knew, Lev Antonov forces Kat back into his life, only to discover that he has brought the mob back to Kat’s front door. What ensues is the rebuilding but contemptuous relationship between Kat and Lev, and the ongoing fall-out as Lev’s lifestyle threatens to destroy them all.

The relationship between Lev and Kat begins as a one night stand following a night of drinking and drugs that leave Kat questioning her choices in life. Lev is determined to protect Kat from the life he has always lived, a life that is about to force Kat on the run. The $ex scenes are aggressive, intense, and not without some questionable consent.

We are introduced to Lev’s psychotic cousin Andrei, and his uncle Vasily; and Kat’s best friend Nina.

MINE is a story of power and control; of murder, bloodshed, assault and abuse. No one is safe when they do business with the Russian mob, and our heroine has quite literally stumbled into a world she knows nothing about. The premise is dark and gritty; the characters are broken, dangerous, struggling and lost; the romance is fraught with issues of trust, anger, secrets and lies. MINE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

MINE TO PROTECT (Mine #6) by Cynthia Eden-a review

Mine to Protect

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 15, 2015

He agreed to protect her…not love her.

Victor Monroe left behind a brutal past when he decided to become an FBI Agent. He knows that other agents think he’s too cold, that he has ice in his veins, but he doesn’t care what folks say about him. He gets the job done–always. No matter the cost.

Then he’s blackmailed into guarding…her.

Zoe Peters, ex-showgirl, daughter of a mob boss and drug dealer, a witness who wants to vanish. Zoe is wild, beautiful, and on far too many hit lists. It’s now Victor’s job to keep her safe–a job that Zoe makes damn difficult. But keeping her alive is his mission. It’s supposed to be strictly professional between them. Just another case. Only…

He never counted on falling for her.

Zoe is not the woman he expected. She isn’t cold or hard. She lights up the room when she walks into it, and despite the hell surrounding her, Zoe is good. Probably too good for Victor because Zoe doesn’t know about the secret deal that Victor worked out with her father. Zoe doesn’t know that Victor intended to use her for information and then turn her over to waiting operatives.

Desire wasn’t supposed to enter the equation. The white-hot lust he feels for Zoe should have never threatened Victor’s legendary self-control. But she’s under his skin…melting his ice…getting to him… Soon Victor doesn’t care about the law or about the lines he has to cross for Zoe. She is his priority. Victor will not rest until every threat to her has been eliminated. And then…

Zoe will be his.

•••••

REVIEW: MINE TO PROTECT is the sixth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult MINE romantic suspense series. This is FBI agent Victor Monroe, and former Vegas showgirl and mob daughter Zoe Peters’s storyline. MINE TO PROTECT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives, MINE TO PROTECT focuses on the protection of Zoe Peters. Zoe is the daughter of a powerful and infamous mob boss-a man who continues to control his empire behind bars-but a man who is willing to kill anyone who stands in his way. When a two million dollar hit is taken out on Zoe’s life, the FBI try to stay one step ahead of the people gunning for Zoe’s life-enter Victor Monroe-the FBI agent assigned to Zoe’s protection and the man who is willing to give up everything to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. There is only one issue standing between Victor and Zoe’s protection-Victor needs some information from Zoe and the only way he can make her talk is to ensure she trusts him with her body and her heart.

We are reintroduced to Elizabeth and Saxon Black (Mine to Have #5), as well as Jasmine and Drake Archer (Mine to Hold #4). Victor’s connection to each of these couples is paramount to the storyline premise.

The relationship between Victor and Zoe has been building for several months while Victor is entrusted with Zoe’s protection. But Zoe is a woman determined to find her missing friend, and with it comes the probability that the people hunting Zoe will find our heroine before she has a chance to discover the whereabouts of her only friend.

MINE TO PROTECT is a story of mystery and suspense; romance and love; betrayal and heartbreak. Zoe is a strong female character but her need to strike out on her own places her in several dangerous situations. Victor is a man with many secrets; some of these secrets he would die to protect and Zoe pushes all of Victor’s buttons-both good and bad; protective and alpha.

Cynthia Eden writes another entertaining, action packed story of intrigue and suspense. The $ex scenes are seductive and intimate. The characters are likeable, intense and colourful; the happily ever after finds our couple starting a new life with the possibility of a future together.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 6, 2015

She doesn’t depend on anyone for anything. He intends to make her his completely.

Natalie Udall thought her position at the CIA was secure—until protecting her team earned her an armed escort into certain danger. Natalie can’t stand the idea of being secreted away in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, especially since it means sharing close quarters with the controlling bodyguard enlisted to keep her alive.

Gabe MacIntosh joined the military to support his son, trained as a sniper and dealt with death on a regular basis. Now retired and operating a security firm, his first assignment is to protect a CIA agent on the run. She’s strong willed and difficult—and all Gabe can think about is exerting his domination and stripping her of every expectation she has.

Natalie has no intention of giving in to Gabe’s straightforward demands of dominant sex with no attachments—even though the very idea of giving up control thrills her like nothing ever has…

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: MINE is the third full-length installment in HelenKay Dimon’s contemporary adult Holton Woods erotic, romantic suspense series. This is CIA operative Natalie Udall, and former army sniper/private security agent Gabe MacIntosh’s storyline. MINE can be read as a stand alone but for cohesion and backstory I suggest reading the series in order.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Natalie and Gabe) MINE follows two paths: the first focuses on Gabe and Natalie’s building relationship while Gabe keeps Natalie in protective custody. Natalie’s ‘keepers’ at the CIA have targeted our heroine for her role in protecting her team when everything went to h*ll. With three members of her team dead, Natalie is the CIA’s next potential target. What ensues is a sexual relationship between Natalie and Gabe, one with a possible end date when Gabe’s assignment is over.

The second path looks at Gabe’s troubled relationship with his eldest brother Rick- a relationship destroyed eighteen years earlier by betrayal and heartbreak. Present day finds Rick and Gabe in an ongoing battle that will break one brother’s heart and reassure the other about the sins of the past.

The relationship between Gabe and Natalie begins acrimoniously as Natalie is determined to prove she doesn’t need protection or a babysitter. She has survived an abusive childhood, dangerous CIA assignments, and isn’t willing to let someone else be responsible for her survival. Gabe’s assignment is to protect Natalie from the people who once protected her back, and in this Gabe finds himself falling in love with his latest ‘assignment’. The graphic $ex scenes are numerous, erotic, seductive and hot.

Several of the secondary and supporting characters crossover from previous storylines including Gabe’s youngest brother Andy who still holds out hope that Elijah Sterling (Taken 2.5) will come to his senses and realize that Andy is the man for him. But Eli is in love with Wade, and Andy must come to terms with his broken heart. Gabe and Andy’s brother Rick is the black sheep of the family, having betrayed his brother years before. Sebastian Jameson (Only #2) plays a small role as the lawyer who works behind the scenes trying to negotiate with the CIA for Natalie’s freedom.

MINE is an entertaining storyline but fell short in the area of the possible threats against Natalie’s life. The threats were negligible; the intrigue and suspense continued to build but nothing came to fruition; the action and danger were virtually non-existent. In the end, the main focus of the story was redirected at Gabe and Rick’s relationship, and the secret both men kept to protect someone they love.

HelenKay Dimon’s wonderful HOLTON WOODS series continues to focus on several former CIA agents and the operation that now targets all of the former team members connected to Natalie Udall. The premise of MINE is interesting and suspense filled but fell short in the action and drama; the characters are colorful, animated and well developed; the romance is provocative and sexually graphic.

When Elizabeth Ward sees Saxon Black rushing into the backroom of The Blade—a low end bar in Miami—she isn’t sure if he’s there to save the day…or just to raise some hell. But she’s being held hostage, and he’s her best hope of survival. Within minutes, she’s away from the jerks with the guns and riding fast and hard on the back of Saxon’s motorcycle.

Death stalks them.

Saxon has been working undercover for far too long. When he finds sexy Elizabeth—with a gun to her head—he knows he will do anything to keep her safe. But once he gets her away from her abductors, the threat to her isn’t over. Someone has put a price on Elizabeth’s head, and if Saxon can’t keep her safe from the danger stalking her, then she’ll be dead.

Their lives are both on the line.

As their enemies close in, Elizabeth and Saxon must go on the run. And the longer they are together, the hotter their attraction for one another seems to burn. Saxon vows not to let anyone hurt her, no matter what he has to do, because he’s falling fast for Elizabeth. He’ll stop the killers on her trail, and then he’ll have her. Forever.

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: MINE TO HAVE is the fifth instalment in Cynthia Eden’s contemporary, adult Mine romantic suspense series. This is FBI agent Saxon Black and Elizabeth Ward’s story. Although this is the fifth storyline in the MINE series, it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any pertinent information from the previous stories is supplied where necessary. Some of the secondary characters from the earlier instalments have minor roles throughout.

Tired of the undercover work, the attempts on his life and the constant change in identity, Saxon Black agrees to one more job for the FBI before walking away and entering civilian life. Finding a beautiful woman with a gun to her head wasn’t what he expected when he went in for the take down at his latest stake out. Rescuing Elizabeth isn’t easy but keeping her safe is more difficult than he could ever have imagined. Someone wants Elizabeth Ward dead and is determined to kill anyone who gets in his or her way. What neither of them know is who put out the hit and why.

The relationship between Saxon and Elizabeth is one of immediate attraction. Saxon begins to lose his heart to the woman entrusted to his care and plans to make her his own-if only they both survive the next few days and weeks. Dead bodies begin to pile up and everyone has a connection to a man sitting in jail. The sex scenes are intimate, seductive and hot.

The storyline builds as our couple endure attempts on their lives, danger from an unknown source and a betrayal from within. When every hideout and secure location is discovered, Saxon and his brother Victor begin to suspect an internal leak from the FBI.

Victor is Saxon’s bond brother. Friends from early childhood, Victor and Saxon have always had one another’s back and in this Victor’s story begins to unfold and will be addressed in the next MINE storyline. We get another glimpse into Victor and Saxon’s sister’s life-Jasmine from MINE TO CRAVE- as she and her new husband play a role in Saxon’s new life.

Cynthia Eden is a brilliant romance writer whose characters and storylines come to life on the pages of the books we love to read. Her characters are real, intense and heartbreaking; the emotions are intense and provocative. MINE TO HAVE and the MINE series by Cynthia Eden is a must read for fans of romantic suspense.

Excerpt

“You can let go now.” His voice was the deepest, darkest rumble she’d ever heard, and it actually took a few seconds for his words to sink in.
When they did, she was horrified. Her hands flew away from him and she shot off that motorcycle. A bad move, really, because her thighs were still shaking from the ride, and Elizabeth hit the ground.
Smooth move.
She pushed up fast, though, and staggered to her feet. Elizabeth tossed away her helmet and ran.
Unfortunately, she didn’t get far. A big, strong hand caught her shoulder and spun her around. In the next breath, her back was being pushed into the nearby brick wall, and Saxon had her hands pinned above her head. He held her easily, her wrists trapped in one of his hands.
“Didn’t we cover this?” he muttered, and his voice, if possible, had gone even deeper. “No screaming, no running—”
“No fighting,” she whispered back to him. “You said no…fighting. You never said I couldn’t run.”
He laughed then. A sound that was as deep as his voice and sent shivers racing over her body.
A man wasn’t supposed to laugh when a woman was terrified. She knew nothing about the guy except for the fact that she’d seen him shoot two men and beat the crap out of at least two more. And he’d said he…wanted her.
For an hour.
“Please, let me go.” Elizabeth wasn’t above begging, not then. She just wanted to survive that night. To get back to her apartment and pretend this whole terrible nightmare had never happened. “I won’t go to the police, I promise. I won’t tell them anything about you.”
His head came closer to hers. She couldn’t discern much about him in that moment, it was too dark, but she’d seen plenty in that terrible little room.
Saxon. He’d been huge, filling that doorway. He had to be at least six foot three, and his shoulders had been so wide, his arms heavy with muscles. He wore a faded t-shirt and loose jeans. He’d fought with a cold, vicious fury, and he hadn’t even broken a sweat when he’d taken down his enemies.
I thought Kurt was scary. He’s nothing compared to this guy.
“I don’t want to let you go.”
Those words terrified her. No, he terrified her. He leaned even closer. She could feel the light stir of his breath against her cheek. She had a flash of being tied in that chair and looking up—and into a pair of dark and deadly eyes.
And I asked him for help? A desperate woman would do anything. And she was desperate right then.
