REVIEW:COLD SILENCE is the sixteenth instalment in Toni Anderson’s contemporary, adult COLD JUSTICE romantic suspense series, and the first in the author’s Cold Justice: Most Wanted spin off. This is FBI Hostage Rescue Team member Shane Livingstone, and coder Yael Brooks’ story line. COLD SILENCE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

WARNING : Due to the nature of the story line premise including reference to a high school mass shooting, there may be triggers for more sensitive people.

Told from three third person perspectives (Shane, Yael, Killer) COLD SILENCE follows the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team search for a serial killer, a killer who is filming his kills, and auctioning his torture methods to the highest bidder. Injured on his last assignment FBI HRT member Shane Livingstone has been sidelined, forced to work from the home office where he will meet computer coder Yael Brooks, the woman with whom Shane will fall in love. As the killer continues his online auctions, Shane and Yael must go deep into the web in an effort to stop the man from killing his next victim. What ensues is the building relationship between Yael and Shane, and the fall-out as the killer sets his sights on our story line heroine.

Yael Brooks has been hiding in plain sight for close to fifteen years but a serial killer has tracked down our heroine, and is using her past to destroy her life. Shane Livingstone and his team have lost two of their own, and their need to take down a killer is personal and close to their heart.

The relationship between Yael and Shane begins when the couple are forced to work together to uncover the identity of a serial killer auctioning off torture and abuse but when Yael is targeted, Shane becomes guardian and protector, taking their relationship into something more. Shane doesn’t do relationships, and in this, Yael struggles to keep her heart from breaking. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including many from the author’s COLD JUSTICE SERIES including Alex Parker (Yael’s boss) and his wife Mallory Rooney, (A Cold Dark Place), ASAC Lincoln Frazer (Cold Fear), computer hacker Ashley Chen (Cold Secrets), Special Agent Hunt Kincaid (Cold Blooded),Payne Novak (Cold Wicked Lies), as well as Ryan Sullivan, Will Griffin, Aaron Nash, and Yael’s best friend Laura Bay. The requisite evil has many faces.

COLD SILENCE is a story of obsession and vengeance, murder and mayhem, relationships, friendships, family and love. The premise is intriguing and thrilling; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and charismatic.

Toni Anderson is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, RITA® finalist, science nerd, professional tourist, dog lover, gardener, mom. REVIEW: IGNITED is the third storyline in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult Most Wanted erotic romance series-a spin off from her popular Stark Trilogy-focusing on three friends who own and operate both legal and illegal businesses. This is Cole August and Katrina Laron’s storyline-two battered souls whose earlier lives couldn’t have been more dissimilar yet the same.

Told from first person POV (Katrina) the focus on the storyline is the building relationship between Cole and Katrina-one that has been simmering for a long time. Their mutual attraction to one another is tempered by Cole’s inability to let go of the past-a past that controls almost every aspect of his life and one that he doesn’t want affecting or destroying the woman with whom he is falling in love. When Katrina’s grifter father comes looking for help, Cole knows that her relationship with her dad will set into motion a spiral from which they may not return.

Katrina and Cole’s relationship is based on mutual needs. Cole is a businessman, an artist and a man with needs both in and out of the bedroom-needs that ease the demons of anger, pain and betrayal. Cole’s younger life is the stuff of nightmares and his methods of coping may be out of Katrina’s comfort zone. Cole must learn to forgive himself before he is able to let Katrina into his heart. He is numb to the world and needs to feel in order to survive.

J. Kenner pulls the reader into the world of one man whose need for control takes him into the back rooms and secret societies in the world of BDSM. We have been given very little information in previous storylines about Cole August; not about his lifestyle nor his needs. Cole’s story is fleshed from betrayal, anger, dissolution and pain. He is a man who is mired in his own guilt about what has happened and what he needs. And what he needs is Katrina Lebron-only he has yet to figure it out.

IGNITED is a thought provoking and dramatic look at how our earlier lives can shape the people we become. We think we have it all under control but in the end, we are who we are because of the past. J. Kenner writes with passion, beauty and a traumatic take on romance and love.

REVIEW: HEATED is the second instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary romance, adult Most Wanted erotic series focusing on three friends and the women they love-Evan Black, Tyler Sharp and Cole August-three friends who bonded as young adults and now earn a living with legitimate and illegitimate enterprises. Told from first person POV (Sloane), this is Chicago entrepreneur Tyler Sharp and Indianapolis police detective Sloane Watson’s storyline.

On medical leave from the Indianapolis Police Department, Sloane goes on the hunt for a missing friend whose last known whereabouts were listed as an exotic dancer at a gentlemen’s club in Chicago known as Destiny-enter Tyler Sharp-the owner and proprietor who is the number one suspect on Sloane’s list of suspects. Going undercover as a stripper is easier said than done when Sloane’s real identity has been known to Tyler all along. It is only when she reveals the true nature of her ‘private investigation’ does Tyler begin to understand-Tyler’s past and that of Cole and Evan are shrouded in mystery, illegal activity and underground connections and Sloane is determined to prove their guilt.

The relationship between Sloane and Tyler is sexual, sensual, exotic and hot. HEATED is an erotic series and a good portion of the storyline is sex, the build up to sex and more sex. Our leading couple has one thing in common and great sex is something that cannot be ignored. The love scenes are intimate, intense and provocative. Tyler Sharp is a man who needs control both in and out of the bedroom.

The secondary characters include Tyler’s friends Cole and Evan as well as some of the ladies of which Tyler has ‘invested’. There is more to Tyler Sharp than an exotic dance club-the man is an enigma that Sloane is slowly unraveling bit by bit.

J. Kenner continues the world building with the inclusion of the previous storyline characters as well as the skyline and familiar places of downtown Chicago. The atmosphere is charged with the nightlife, the game players and, the sights and sounds of The Windy City.

The Most Wanted series has a connection to J.Kenner’s Stark Trilogy but each instalment is a stand alone that ends with a happily ever after. HEATED follows a few days in the life of two people who under normal circumstances would have probably met inside a courtroom but for a missing young girl, have found love in at a time in their life when they needed it the most.
