The story before the love story….

*When he lost the only woman he’d ever loved, it seemed there was nothing left to live for.*

Even as a boy, all Ben Covington ever wanted was to spend forever with Dahlia London, the beautiful girl next door…then one life-altering decision tore them apart and he was forced to leave her.

Now, despite having returned to win her back, he’s still alone. She’s with someone else–someone she’s never going to leave.

Resigned to a future without his former girlfriend, Ben numbs his broken heart in a haze of liquor and women. But then the only woman who ever even turned his head while he was with his girl reappears unexpectedly. And he’s never forgotten their one incredible night together. But will Ben’s destructive behavior destroy his future with her before it even begins?

About the Author pink

Kim Karr

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I’ve always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don’t need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There’s nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore–it’s time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl. Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: PLAY is the second instalment in Kylie Scott’s contemporary, adult, erotic Stage Dive series focusing on the members of the rock bank Stage Dive and the women they love. This is Stage Dive’s sexy and off the wall drummer Mal Ericson and twenty three year old book store clerk Anne Rollins’s story. Although we had not been previously introduced to Anne, she is Evelyn Ferris’s former neighbor-Ev married Stage Dive’s lead guitarist David Ferris in book one LICK.

Told from Anne’s first person point of view the storyline focuses on Mal and Anne’s very new relationship. Our couple meet at a party at David and Evelyn’s condo where Mal is immediately drawn to Anne. Mal is a man who possesses the smooth charm and even smoother tongue to make any woman swoon but it is hyper active/manic personality that draws people like a moth to a flame. A sexy drummer with a reputation for one night stands, Anne isn’t fooled by Mal’s charm-there is something sad hiding behind Mal’s comedic façade-a sadness that Anne recognizes only too well. Mal and Anne’s relationship is a very-quick friends to lovers storyline that is incredibly hot, intimate and intense.

Anne will remind many readers about themselves or someone that they know-she has been taken advantage of time and again-from her boss to her former roommate Anne’s life is currently defined by the number of times she has been screwed by the people that she trusts. In this, our couple’s story will begin when Mal makes her an offer that she could not refuse because Mal isn’t accepting anything less. Anne is about to lose her apartment and Mal offers himself up to be her new roommate.

The world building continues from the introductory storyline LICK where we were first introduced to the volatile and troubled members of Stage Dive. Most of the previous storyline characters play a secondary role including David’s brother Jimmy and guitarist Ben; Evelyn’s brother Nate; and her BFF Lauren. As the band members prepare for their upcoming tour, Mal’s world begins to fall apart and he takes his frustrations out on everyone around. The boys of Stage Dive are fallible, human and not without their own demons and manic histories. These are the stories of real people or your next door neighbors or even your family and friends.

Kyle Scott pulls the reader into a compelling and sometimes heartbreaking storyline that is driven by Mal’s sense of humor, sarcasm and playful attitude but the humor is hiding a pain that is changing his world one day at a time. He is a man in a world of hurt and refuses to let anyone in on the sorrow that is destroying his less than orderly world. Stage Dive is an addicting series that will captivate your imagination when you come center stage in the gritty and sometimes revealing world (behind the scenes) of rock and roll. PLAY is not as angst driven as LICK, but it is a storyline that will pull you in –none the less.

LEGAL AFFAIRS: Stipulation by Sawyer Bennett (Part 2 of Legal Affairs)

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date: January 24, 2014

I crossed a line with my boss and there’s no taking it back.

Not that I’d want to.

You see… Matt Connover? Well, he’s something else. Strong, magnetic, sexy as hell… but yeah, he’s still my boss.

What am I doing? Why is he so irresistible to me? Maybe it’s because I finally saw a different side to him. I saw, for a brief moment, that Matt is vulnerable, possibly damaged. Is it wrong that it makes him even sexier in my opinion?

I’m in deep and I don’t see any way out.

I don’t want to find a way out.

I want to find a way for both of us to stay involved in these Legal Affairs.
~ McKayla “Mac” Dawson

Legal Affairs is a serial romance with a whole lot of hot and a little bit of funny. It has six volumes that will be released every two weeks.

Legal Affairs – Objection – releasing January 10, 2014
Legal Affairs – Stipulation – releasing January 24, 2014

Legal Affairs – Mitigation – releasing February 21, 2014
Legal Affairs – Reparation – releasing March 7, 2014
Legal Affairs – Affirmation – releasing March 21, 2014

REVIEW: LEGAL AFFAIRS: Stipulation is the second instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s new, contemporary, erotic LEGAL AFFAIRS serial series. Releasing every two weeks beginning January 10, 2014, the series focuses on new lawyer McKayla Dawson and high power attorney Matt Connover. Matt is McKayla’s boss and something more. Current friends with benefits, Matt promises nothing more than sex and McKayla agrees. But when Matt demands McKayla’s obedience outside of work, McKayla knows that her only option is to end their relationship both inside and outside of the bedroom.

The relationship between Mac and Matt is sensual and sexy but Matt claims that it is only sex-hot and hard sex-but just sex. When Mac begins to realize that she is no longer in control, she will push away the man with whom she is falling in love. He demands and takes but denies McKayla the freedom she wants.

SAWYER BENNETT has written a provocative and intense storyline. McKayla and Matt both know what they want-but getting there is pulling them in opposite directions.

ADDICTED TO YOU

Genre: New Adult, contemporary, romance

Addicted To YouABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 22, 2013

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.

No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.

Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.

But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.

Their real vice may be each other.

REVIEW: ADDICTED TO YOU is the first storyline in Krista Ritchie’s contemporary, new adult series focusing on two twenty year old Ivy League college students who enable one another’s addictions. Lily Calloway is addicted to sex and Loren (Lo) Hale is addicted to alcohol. ADDICTED TO YOU is the beginning of their story; one that follows Lily and Lo as they give in to the demands of their bodies and one another.

The premise follows Lily as she continuously places herself in danger for the next sexual fix. Nothing and no one is off limits including internet porn, gigolos and the nameless, faceless strangers she seduces every night. As Lo tries to help Lily with her addiction he is pulled deeper into the bottle until both of their situations affect not only their own lives but those of friends and family.

The family backgrounds play a significant role in the storyline. All of the major characters are from wealthy, uber rich and ultimately controlling families. There is no question that money breeds strange bedfellows and in this there appears to have been quite a bit of bed hopping from one generation to the next. As the heirs apparent to their family businesses, our class of wonder children makes you cringe at the possibility about the who and what running the Fortune 500 companies and controlling world powers.

Sex addiction is primarily a disorder that affects men but there are cases of women who cannot control their compulsions and impulses-yes sexual addiction is considered an OCD. In many ways, there is a double standard, as it addresses sexual addiction-men are alpha and horny; women are sluts and whores. And like most addictions, there is always a secondary psychological problem in play that pushes the addict into risky situations. Krista Ritchie has apparently done some homework with the issues of sex and alcoholism, for our couple is endowed with most of the side effects (public and private) including enabling one another with their demons.

This is not an easy story to read; you can’t help but sit in judgment against a young woman who thinks only of herself and her next orgasm. There are very few redeeming qualities in our couple but when the truth is finally revealed, help will come from the most unexpected revelations.

Krista & Becca Ritchie has written an introductory storyline that is gritty, raw and abrasive. There is no overt sexual situations-most are implied or recalled. But in the end, ADDICTED TO YOU will make you question the reality of the world in which you live-because you really do not know anything about the people next door or of those you meet.

RicochetABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 2013

As a sex addict, Lily Calloway must do the impossible. Stay celibate for 90 days.

Cravings and fantasies become her new routine, but while Loren Hale recovers from his alcohol addiction, Lily wonders if he’ll realize what a monster she really is. After all, her sexual compulsions begin to rule her life the longer she stays faithful to him.

Progress. That’s what Lily’s striving for. But by trying to become closer to her family—people who aren’t aware of her addiction—she creates larger obstacles. When she spends time with her youngest sister, she learns more about her than she ever imagined and senses an unsettling connection between Daisy and Ryke Meadows.

With Lily and Lo’s dysfunctional relationship teetering and unbalanced, they will need to find a way to reconnect from miles apart. But the inability to “touch” proves to be one of the hardest tests on their road to recovery. Some love brushes the surface. Some love is deeper than skin.

Lily and Lo have three months to discover just how deep their love really goes.

——

Companion to the Sequel: A full-length New Adult Romance that continues where Addicted to You left off. As a companion novel, it bridges the gap between the first and second book. It is highly recommended to be read before Addicted for Now.

REVIEW: RICOCHET is the second instalment (novella) in Krista Ritchie’s contemporary, new adult Addicted series. The storylines takes place immediately follow the end of Addicted to You (Book 1) and ends just prior to the start of Addicted for Now (Book 2).

Krista & Becca Ritchie takes the reader into the mind of a sex addicted young woman as she endeavors to overcome some of her greatest fears and obsession with sex and getting off. This is a story about how one woman strives to keep the obsession from ruining her life only to discover that the compulsion is too strong. Lily struggles to keep a promise to herself and to the man that she loves. Recovery from addiction is hard but even harder when the drug that you crave is so close at hand.

RICOCHET is a novella that fills in some of the blanks of Lily and Lo’s prior history. We discover that the attraction to one another begins at an early age and so too, perhaps, the obsession and addictive tendencies that control their daily lives. We watch as Lily re-connects with her sisters and grows closer to the people who will be there through the times ahead.

Again, this will be a difficult storyline for many readers. There is no graphic sex only implied, but the actions of Lily Calloway will make you think about the reality of life for people who suffer with a similar addiction.

With their new living situation—sleeping in the same bed, for real, together—Lily has new battles. Like not jumping Lo’s bones every night. Not being consumed by sex and his body.

And his worst fear isn’t relapsing. He hears the end. He sees it. The one thing that could change everything. Just three words.

No. More. Us.

New Adult Romance recommended for readers 18+ for mature content

REVIEW: ADDICTED FOR NOW is the third instalment in Krista Ritchie’s new adult, contemporary Addicted series focusing on two young twenty something adults with some dark and dangerous addictions. In this particular storyline Loren (Lo) is a recovering alcoholic and Lily is in treatment for sex addiction. The Addicted Series pulls the reader into the ugly world of addiction and the resulting damage and destruction that comes with the inability to stop or just say no.

The storyline focuses on Lily and Loren’s recovery. Lo has just returned from a three month stint in rehab where he has had no access to Lily-his best friend and partner. Lily’s ongoing treatment for sex addiction will play a major role in Loren’s recovery especially when he realizes the how and why of Lily’s deep seated need for sex. This is a couple who have enabled each other for years and their recovery and subsequent survival will depend on the support of family, friends and each other. But like all dark stories, someone wants Lily and Lo to fail. As Loren and their group of friends begin to search for the person or people responsible, Lily begins to slide into her old habits when the threats come from an unlikely source.

ADDICTED FOR NOW and the Addicted Series are a gritty, no nonsense storyline about addiction and recovery. In this particular series Krista Ritchie address sex addiction and holds nothing back when a young woman places herself in danger at every opportunity with her need and addiction to sex. The storyline is told from alternating first person POVs –Lily and Lo- and makes no apologies for the dark side of addiction and pain.

FOREVER WITH YOU (Fixed #3) by Laurelin Paige

ABOUT THE BOOK: January 13, 2014

Alayna Withers relationship with Hudson Pierce has tested both her and his ability to trust. They decide that the only way they can move forward together is with open doors and transparency. It won’t be easy for the scarred lovers, but they’re committed to each other more now than ever. But while the pair is focused on the future, their past shows up again to threaten their fragile bond. Promises that were made are broken, and Alayna learns that Hudson still has very potent secrets—secrets that will tear them both apart. As much as she feels for him, her ability to forgive and forget is tested beyond her limits.

Even though she found the only man who could fix her, a forever with Hudson seems more and more out of reach.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: FOREVER WITH YOU is the third and final storyline in Laurelin Paige’s contemporary, new adult, erotic Fixed series focusing on Alayna Withers and Hudson Pierce. Although this is the end of Alayna and Hudson’s arc-Laurelin is continuing the series with one of the characters introduced in Forever With You.

The storyline continues from the previous two instalments but focuses on Alayna’s need to uncover the truth behind Hudson’s relationship with a woman he claims is only a friend. The deeper Alayna digs the more she becomes unglued only to discover that everything about her relationship with Hudson has been a lie.

Laurelin Paige pulls the reader into an emotional storyline that will make you think. Alayna and Hudson both have issues of trust but what Alayna uncovers will blow your mind. What you thought you knew is not what you will expect.

FOREVER WITH YOU is an emotional storyline about the extent of one family’s dysfunctional nature and the extent of which has affected the next generation. The final resolution was difficult to accept under the circumstances but this is fictional story with a HEA- one that did not sit well with this reader.

.99cents :  Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk/ Barnes and Noble / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Monica Murphy returns with her most beloved characters, Drew and Fable, in this eBook original 40,000-word novella that brings her bestselling New Adult series full circle.

Fantasy. How I ended up with NFL player Drew Callahan, the guy every woman wants, is beyond my wildest dreams. All I know is that once he chose me as his one and only, I sure wasn’t looking back. I had past wounds and he showed patience and concern—even taking responsibility for my messed-up kid brother. Now, once again, he’s found a way to blow my mind: an exotic wedding and honeymoon miles and miles away from home. What else could a girl ever ask for?

Reality. Now the honeymoon’s over. Drew’s football schedule takes him on the road constantly, while I need to stay put and look after my brother until he finishes high school—because God knows our sorry excuse for a mother won’t. I know Drew loves me with all his heart, and I’ll always be over the moon about him. This just isn’t how I imagined our life as newlyweds . . . dealing with the distance, missing him all the time. But we’ve gone through hard times before. We can get through this, too, right? We’re Drew and Fable, together forever. At least I hope so. . . .

REVIEW: DREW AND FABLE is the latest storyline (novella) in Monica Murphy’s contemporary, new adult series focusing on twenty something Drew Callahan and Fable. The storyline advances the series four years as we watch our leading couple fall deeper in love while contemplating their future.

The premise follows Drew as he embarks on his professional football career as a quarterback for the San Franciso Forty Niners. While Drew is away, Fable must learn to live as a professional athlete’s wife-always the focus of gossip and the paparazzi, Drew and Fable will be forced into the spotlight on more than one occasion.

Fable’s brother Owen plays a more significant role in this particular novel in preparation for his upcoming storyline to be released later in 2014. At the end of the book, Owen will be in his second year of college and becomes a more integral part of Drew and Fable’s life. And Drew and Fable’s life is to about to become a lot more busy.

Monica Murphy has written an emotional storyline that will answer many questions; close some doors and open several others. For fans of the series, Drew and Fable Forever is the perfect story with just the right amount of sensuality, love and happily ever after.

excerpt

“We should check out Ocean Avenue tomorrow,” Drew whispers close to my ear, amusement tingeing his deep voice.

“What? Are you serious?” Even though I’ve come to terms with being here, it doesn’t mean I want to linger and make it a serious vacation. Besides, Drew needs to get back home so he can resume practice.

“Well yeah, remember the spot where we kissed?” His eyes are warm as they search my face, filled with so much love I feel my heart swell.

“Yes,” I whisper achingly. “Of course I remember.”

“I want to go back there.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear, his index finger lingering on my skin. “I want to kiss you again in that little alley and remember how wet we were from the rain. How nervous I was. I was scared you might reject me.”

I’d felt the same way. We’d dealt with much of the same feelings and fears and hadn’t even known it.

“I want to take you to that store where you got the dress that just about killed me and buy you whatever you want,” he continues, his fingers drifting across my jaw. My eyes flutter closed as memories rush back at me. “I want to sit outside the dressing room and have you come out to show me every single thing you’re trying on.”

That he remembers all the little details sends a thrill of pleasure spiraling to the very depths of my soul.

“And then I want to wander off for a bit and let you do whatever you want, secretly hoping that you’ll send me a text that says marshmallow. Though if you don’t that’s okay because I’ll send you one instead.” He offers up a crooked smile and the sight of it cracks my heart wide open, overflowing with so much pure love for him I want to cry. “Because we made a deal. Whenever we see or hear that word, the other comes running. I’ll always be the one to rescue you, Fable. You never have to worry about that.”

BEFORE JAMAICA LANE (On Dublin Street #3) by Samantha Young

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 7, 2014

One simple lesson in seduction between two friends can turn into so much more…

Despite her outgoing demeanor, Olivia is painfully insecure around the opposite sex—usually, she can’t get up the nerve to approach guys she’s interested in. But moving to Edinburgh has given her a new start, and, after she develops a crush on a sexy postgrad, she decides it’s time to push past her fears and go after what she wants.

Nate Sawyer is a gorgeous player who never commits, but to his close friends, he’s as loyal as they come. So when Olivia turns to him with her relationship woes, he offers to instruct her in the art of flirting and to help her become more sexually confident.

The friendly education in seduction soon grows into an intense and hot romance. But then Nate’s past and commitment issues rear their ugly heads, and Olivia is left broken-hearted. When Nate realizes he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he will have to work harder than he ever has before to entice his best friend into falling back in love with him—or he may lose her forever…

••••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BEFORE JAMAICA LANE is the third full-length instalment in Samantha Young’s contemporary, new adult, erotic ON DUBLIN STREET series focusing on a close knit group of family, friends and lovers in Edinburgh, Scotland. This is American-born Olivia Holloway and Nate Sawyer’s storyline-one that made me cry for a woman who considered herself less than worthy of a man’s love. When Olivia approaches her best friend Nate for help in the seduction department he jumps at the chance to help-but of course-when two people are attracted to one another, playing with fire will only get them burned.

The storyline focuses on Olivia’s reluctance to approach a sexy postgrad who is her current crush. Her lack of self-esteem and negative self image perpetuates the belief that she is unattractive to the opposite sex. Asking her best friend Nate for help in seducing the object of her affections begins to backfire when their friends with benefits policy and instructions becomes something more. Not only does Olivia realize she is in love with Nate but Nate’s heartbreaking rejection throws Olivia into a depression that will be difficult to overcome. Nate is a player and his inability to commit to one woman will bring pain and sorrow to two people who need to overcome the past to more forward.

The relationship between Olivia and Nate begins as best friends to lovers when Olivia’s lack of confidence forces her to ask the impossible of the one man in her life that has always been there. You know that the ‘lessons in sexual seduction’ involve the physical act of sex but the heart doesn’t know what the mind has been told. Keeping the relationship from growing into something ‘more’ is impossible when the heart wants what it can never have.

Samantha Young brings together all of the previous storyline characters. BEFORE JAMAICA LANE slightly overlaps the events of the novella CASTLE HILL where Joss and Braden get married and the epilogue continues eighteen months into the future. The series will fast forward into Hannah and Marco’s storyline-FALLING FROM INDIA PLACE in June 2014.

This is a friends to lovers storyline that will break your heart for two people afraid to open their hearts to the possibilities of finding their happily ever after –together. Nate will push away the woman that he loves only to realize he may have pushed too far.

BEFORE JAMAICA LANE is a seductive, sexy and heartbreaking storyline about two people who are perfect for one another but past losses prevent each from moving forward. Samantha Young pulls the reader into an emotional tale about love and loss; heartbreak and sorrow; friendships and family. Keep the tissue box near by –you are going to need it.

Remy (Real #3) by Katy Evans-a review

Remy

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk/ Barnes and Noble / KOBO / The Book Depository

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 26, 2013

Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.

Through it all, there’s been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he’s ever had to fight for.

••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: REMY is the third instalment in Katy Evans contemporary, new adult Real series focusing on underground fighter Remington Tate and Brooke Dumas-the woman that he loves. REMY is a storyline that parallels the time line of both REAL (#1) and MINE (#2). It is told in flashbacks from Remington’s POV and some present day leading up to Remy and Brooke’s wedding.

The premise is identical to the previous two instalments but we are pulled into a darker world of one man’s obsession with the woman that he loves. Remy suffers with bi-polar disorder and the emotional fall out that affects everyone in his life. Refusing to be medicated, Remy suffers ‘black periods’ where he loses all concept of time and what is happening. REMY follows our hero through his tumultuous battle with the disease, his friends and himself.  Remy’s fears of losing Brooke consume his every thought and in this the reader is pulled onto a roller coaster ride of epic proportion.

Katy’s style of writing is pervasive through the storyline-her use of similar phrases and expressions is seen throughout the entire series; Remy’s need for Brooke; the continuous references to scent, smell and taste; as well as Remy’s dysfunctional jealousy and possession of the woman he loves; and the repetition of mine, Mine, MINE. Remy is a psychiatrist’s nightmare and yet he is unwilling to be medicated because it affects his emotional and physical stability.

There are few things in the series that are questionable and unbelievable including the degree to which Remy refuses help or medication for a disorder that controls and affects every aspect of his life. The character is a danger to himself and to others but the solution proposed (in Mine #2) is not necessarily the best choice-in fact, it is only used as a last resort. But saying that, it is after all, a fictional storyline, with fictional characters in a fictional world and who are we to question when the series is presented as entertainment for the enjoyment of the author’s readers and fans.
