ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 28,2021

Rumor has it…

It all started with a lie.
I met Ian Forrest, middle linebacker and Roman God reincarnated last winter.
Dark hair and steel eyes, granite stacks of muscles, and a secret smile that made me weak.

You see, once upon a time, I Rose Cartwright, believed in happily ever after’s.
But life had taught me too quickly that rules are necessary and that gilded cages won’t protect your heart.

Yet, our lives began to weave together—a seamless and beautiful tapestry of ‘non-date’ dates.

By the time summer arrived, so had my nerves. He was leaving for two months, so I drew a hard line in the sand and labeled what we shared a friendship, though we’d both known it was more.

Now, it’s the beginning of our senior year, and once again, everything is bringing us together.
Only now, the secrets are bigger, the lies greater, and the stakes are even higher.

Will the pressure break us apart
Or will I be able to forget the Rules?

REVIEW:FORGETTING THE RULES is the fifth instalment in Mariah Dietz’s contemporary, new adult THE DATING PLAYBOOK erotic, college romance series. This is Brighton College football linebacker Ian Forrest, and columnist / student Rose Cartwright’s story line. FORGETTING THE RULES can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Ian and Rose) FORGETTING THE RULES follows twenty-two year old Brighton College seniors, football linebacker Ian Forrest, and columnist Rose Cartwright. The new school year finds Rose Cartwright assigned to the sports desk at the Brighton College paper, placing her in the direct line of fire of Brighton linebacker Ian Forest, the man who left months earlier, without looking back but Rose’s latest assignment is to get up close and personal with the football players, an assignment that is about to spiral of control-someone is releasing personal and damaging information about the members of the team, and Rose will get pulled into a journalistic nightmare when she is targeted by the same people targeting the Brighton players. As she desperately tries to avoid the man that broke her heart (Ian Forrest), Rose’s rules for dating will be pushed to the side when Ian reveals his true feelings and emotions towards our story line heroine. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Rose and Ian, and the potential fall-out as Rose’s life is exposed threatening any hopes of a future with the man with whom she is falling in love.

The relationship between Ian and Rose is one of second chances, of a sort, as Ian’s return to Brighton comes with mixed feelings for our story line heroine. Rose has a rule to never date any man more than once but Ian ghosted our heroine, just as she was falling for our story line hero. Refusing to give into her attraction, Rose desperately tries to avoid Ian but both are members of the same circle of friends. Struggling with the family dysfunctional nature of her family, and a betrayal from the past, Rose refuses to fall in love, fearing betrayal and heart break. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.

We are reintroduced to Arlo’s friends and fellow teammates: Lincoln Beckett and Raegan Lawson (Bending the Rules #1 / Breaking the Rules #2); Arlo and Olivia (Defining the Rules #3) ,Tyler and Chloe ( Exploring the Rules #4). team captain Paxton Lawson; Caleb , Luis Garcia, Poppy Anderson; Olivia’s father Coach Harris; newspaper editor Anthony Albright: school reporter Amita Patel, fellow students Chantay, Janet, Isla Zimmerman ; Rose’s sister Anna, their father; and Ian’s parents Grayson and Michelle.

FORGETTING THE RULES is a story of betrayal, secrets, lies, slut-shaming, and revenge; a story of family, friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is inviting, intriguing and inspiring; the characters are sassy and energetic; the romance is spicy, sensitive and compelling.

Tempting Prince Charming by Lauren Smith – a Review

Tempting Prince Charming by Lauren Smith – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple

Description:
This prince charming has the world at his fingertips.

Anything real estate mogul Thad Worthington wants, he gets—except true love.

Until one cold night when he meets a woman with a warm heart.

But his would-be princess has no desire to risk her heart for a second chance at a fairy tale, not when she’s already widowed and a single mother.

After one scorching kiss that leaves him changed forever, Thad won’t let his princess run from him.

When her wicked stepmother threatens to ruin this fairy tale, Thad is left holding a glass slipper and searching for the woman he can’t live without.

Review:

Tempting Prince Charming by Lauren Smith is a modern version of Cinderella, but definitely not a bedtime story for kids.

Thad has it all, money, charm and looks that will get him anything he wants (and a few things he doesn’t) ? a head for business and a body that looks in a suit. But sometimes he just wants to lose himself, be just an average Joe. And singing is his one escape, that and playing his guitar. But he only plays for himself……

Veronica loves her little coffee shop, it’s her rock in a stormy sea of grief. It helped her find her feet after she lost her husband and Lyra’s father (Lyra is her daughter) Parker. But it hurts to think of him, but tonight after a customer of the coffee shop sang in their open mic night, it brought the hurt to the surface, love is not an option for her, it hurts too damn much!!

I loved this story, it was a simple story, but beautifully written. I’ve read a few of Lauren’s books and I’ve never been disappointed.

Thad sees something in Veronica that he’s not seen before, an honesty and vulnerability that makes me want to discover more.

I did have to chuckle at the description of Thad, all I could see was Chris Hemsworth (in his Thor costume?) but the visual only enhanced my enjoyment of this book. Veronica made my heart ache, a widow dealing with loss, a young daughter and a job. Her determination to keep Thad at arms length made sense, but everyone needs a little love.

The secondary characters were great, Zelda who worked in the coffee shop had a wicked sense of humour. Thad’s friend Jared was just great. And Lyra was just so cute, asking Alexa for a daddy.

A man finding a love that he didn’t ever think he would find, someone that would like him as he is and not for the money he has!! But convincing Veronica is not going to be easy. He understands about loss, but he wants to love her like she deserves.

A woman who can’t bear the thought of losing someone she lives ever again. It’s better to keep your heart hidden, not out in the open where it can get smashed! But we have a fly in the ointment…. Veronica’s stepmother, she wants both her stepdaughter and Lyra out of the house/coffee shop, she’s going up sell it from under Veronica. They have never got on, she is the quintessential wicked stepmother!! And when Veronica finds out who the buyer is…..

This was the second book in her Ever After series, but you don’t need to read the first one. This stands on its glass slipper with no help whatsoever.

And one final word…… I WANT TO GO TO DISNEY ?

REVIEW:Callous Heir is the fifth book in The Heirs series by Michelle Heard.

This book is a continuation yet stand alone to the Trinity Academy Series.

We are now learning about The Heirs… the children of the couples from the Trinity Academy and The Enemies to Lovers Series.

A crossover of a crossover – per se.

Carla Reyes has been in love with Noah West since she was 15 years old and he was 20. She did the wrong thing and fell for her brother’s friend. When Carla finally got the courage to tell him he harshly rejected her. That is until things changed.

Carla is now 18 and is attending Trinity Academy. And must share a suite with Noah – now 23. At first Noah is very cold towards Carla but he slowly begins to see that she has grown up.

Noah begins to feel things that he never has felt before. Almost stoic in his emotions before, he comes into his own eventually.

Not going to lie – Noah annoyed me in the beginning, and not in a good way. I knew he would eventually come around and sway that decision but I wasn’t expecting him to change so quickly. He turned out to be my favorite Heir so far.

Carla was the perfect combination of sassy and sweet. She also had a resilience in waiting for Noah that I am not sure others could sustain. But once Noah begins to have feelings for Carla all bets are off.

The perfect quick one sitting read, no way to drag it out and slow things down as I wanted to know what was going to happen next at every page turn.

I fell hard and fast for Noah and his ways.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading the other books in this series.

In the Penalty Box by Lynn Rush & Kelly Anne Blount – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
Willow
Figure skating was supposed to be my whole world. But one unlucky injury and now I’m down…but I’m definitely not out. I just need to rehab–a boatload of rehab–and who’d have thought I could do it on the boys’ hockey team?

Of course, the infuriatingly hot captain of the team seems to think I’m nothing but sequins and twirls. What’s a girl to do but put him in his place? Game on.

Brodie
Hockey is my whole world. I’ve worked my tail off getting my team in a position to win the championships–hopefully in front of major college scouts, too–so what’s a guy to do when a figure skater ends up as our new goalie?

Of course, the distractingly sexy skater thinks I’m nothing but a testosterone-laced competitive streak. And surely she’s only biding her time to heal, then she’s gone. Game over.

Review:

It’s been a while since I’ve read any Young Adult stories so took me a while to wrap my head around this one.  Thankfully it was based around my favourite sport of hockey so it helped to pull me in and get me into the story.  In the Penalty Box features Willow a figure skater who suffered a devastating injury that knocks her off the Olympic team and Brodie a star hockey player hoping to make a college team with a full scholarship.  Thanks to a chance meeting with Brodie, Willow finds herself on the town’s hockey team as their star goalie.  Yes a figure skater turns hockey player, I really liked that twist in this story.

Of course becoming their star goalie isn’t an easy task as at first the guys are hesitant about a figure skater becoming a goalie and she’s a girl to top things off.  However, Willow has a feisty, competitive and spunky attitude about her that quickly wins the majority of the team over.  The more she’s around the guys and playing goalie she learns what it’s like to be on a real team and is enjoying herself.  She finds herself torn between her love of figure skating and the love of hockey she’s developing.  On top of all this she’s hopelessly falling for the teams captain Brodie.

Brodie is you typical jock on the ice. He’s got everything it takes to be a star hockey player including the charms on and off the ice.  Hockey is his life and his escape from what’s going on in his home life.  If it wasn’t for hockey and his teammates Brodie would’ve been lost like his father after his mom died in a bad accident.  Enter Willow the figure skater, Brodie sees something in her that he believes can transform her into the goalie the team needs.  Convincing Willow that she can do this and helping to train her, Brodie finds himself hopelessly falling for her even though he’s sworn off relationships off the ice.

Both Brodie and Willow have a lot going on in their lives off the ice.  Willow with her injury and wanting back on an Olympic team and Brodie dealing with his father throwing their lives away after his mom died.  Together they wind up leaning on each other and supporting one another through thick and thin.  Spending all this time with each other both on and off the ice they begin to develop feelings for one another and have to keep their budding romance a secret as the coach put out a no fraternizing with teammates order.  Of course there’s your typical teen drama that happens and the drama that comes about when the team finds out they’ve been lying about their romance.  In the end everything does work itself out and Willow and Brodie get their HEA.

If you’re a fan of the young adult genre and the sport of hockey then this one’s for you.

Until next time, happy reading everyone!

REVIEW: DESTRUCTIVE KING is the third instalment in Rachel Van Dyken’s contemporary, new-adult MAFIA ROYALS dark, Mafia, erotic, romance series- a next generation spin off set in the author’s Eagle Elite world. This is heir to the Mafia empire Ash Abandonato, and student Annie Smith’s story line. DESTRUCTIVE KING can be read as a stand alone: you do not have to have read the Eagle Elite series but I recommend reading the FREE prequel novella Royal Bully for back story as it pertains to Asher and Claire.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Annie, Ash, Chase) DESTRUCTIVE KING picks up approximately ten months after the events of ROYAL BULLY wherein Ash’s pregnant fiancée was killed in a motor vehicle accident, an accident Ash blames on our heroine Annie Smith. In the aftermath of the death, Ash Abandonato’s life spiralled out of control, and Annie was sent to school in Italy in an effort to protect her from our story line ‘hero’. Fast forward to present day, Annie has returned to the Abandonato family fold, and Ash is about to make her life a living h*ll. What ensues is the acrimonious relationship between Annie and Ash, and the potential fall-out when the truth is revealed about what happened and why.

Annie Smith’s backstory is heart breaking and raw. She survived horrific abuse at the hands of her father and foster family, and in this she was one of the young women rescued from the horrors of the De Lange crime family. Best friends with Claire Petrov, Ash’s soon to be fiancé, Annie struggled with her place in the familywhich worsened following the accident that claimed Claire’s life. Annie is a strong female character but her place in the family, her proximity with Ash, is caustic and dysfunctional- I struggled with Chase’s (Ash’s father and Mafia head) overwhelming need to push our couple together but in this Chase is trying to save his son who is spiralling out of control. Ash Abandonato is a bully and cruel; no one is safe from Ash’s vitriol, and with Claire’s return, Ash pushes the limits of Claire’s ability to love. The back and forth, caustic attitude of Ash Abandonato threatens Claire’s already fractured persona but the twists and turns in the lives of Annie and Ash reveal secrets and lies that will expose the truth.

The relationship between Annie and Ash is tumultuous and stormy. Ash does everything he can to make Annie’s life miserable and yet our heroine continues to accept that Ash’s actions and betrayal are as of a direct result from the loss of his love. When we think that Ash has pushed a little too far, Annie all but walks away, only to return for more emotional and verbal abuse at the hands of the man with whom she will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including most of the Eagle Elite couples, the second generation couples and young adults, as well as FBI Agent Tank. Tank and Kartini’s story is next in Mafia King.

DESTRUCTIVE KING is a story of family, relationships, friendships and loss; a story of guilt and grief; of obsession, betrayal and vengeance; of twist, turns, secrets and lies. The premise is heart breaking, emotional and engaging; the romance struggles in the face of hatred, blame and loss; the characters are broken, battered but healing.

REVIEW:MAFIA PRINCE is the first instalment in Vi Carter’s contemporary, adult YOUNG IRISH REBELS dark, erotic, Irish Mafia, romance series-a spin off from the author’s WILD IRISH series. This is heir to the East throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly’s story line. MAFIA PRINCE and the Young Irish Rebels focuses on, and introduces the next generation in the Irish Mafia.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Maeve and Jack) MAFIA PRINCE follows the acrimonious relationship between heir to the throne Jack O’Reagan, and college student Maeve Reilly. Fourteen years earlier, Maeve Reilly was best friends with Jack O’Reagan’s sister Dana but Maeve was an ‘outsider, was not a member of the Family, and therefore not a suitable playmate, and in this Maeve was pushed out of Dana’s life by the man with whom she would later fall in love. Fast forward to present day wherein, college student Maeve walks into a nightmare, and the only way to protect her family, is to face the boy, now man, who destroyed her heart. Enter Jack O’Reagan, heir to the East throne of the Irish mob. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jack and Maeve, and the potential fall-out as Maeve is fodder, and collateral damage in a war between father and son.

Maeve Reilly’s dysfunctional family is slowly destroying itself from within. Her father left years before: her mother is an alcoholic, and her brother owes thousands of dollars to a local drug dealer. In an effort to save her mother, and the brother she loves, Maeve knows that to ask for help from the Irish mob means to give up her life, as she knows it as she becomes payment for a debt owed. Jack O’Reagan has lusted after his sister’s best friend Maeve for as long as he can remember but kicking Maeve out of Dana’s life was only one step of many in Jack’s trial to take over the family crown. It is only by coincidence that Maeve is pulled back into Jack’s life, and with it, the promise of a few nights turns into something more but Jack’s own struggle with his place in the Family is about to place Maeve in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Jack and Maeve is an enemies to lovers, forced confinement / proximity affair when Maeve relinquishes her freedom to protect her brother and mother from further harm but Jack refuses to give up or give in, and demands more time with Maeve, in an effort to persuade the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate erotic and intense.

There is large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting character including Jack’s parents Svetlana and Liam (Merciless / Heartless-Wild Irish #4 & #5), Shane and Una (Vicious-Wild Irish #1), Connor’s son Shay (Ruthless-Wild Irish #2), Darragh (Fearless-Wild Irish 3) and his son Cian, as well as Maeve’s brother Declan, and their mother Jane.

MAFIA PRINCE is a story of family, power and control; of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, hope and love. The premise is gritty but captivating; the romance is tragic, aggressive but passionate; the characters are broken, haunted and wounded.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 19,2020

Dan Noble is an old Vampire, perhaps the oldest in the world. One night on the prowl, he is inexplicably drawn to a plain-looking university student. But Nina Wright is not as boring as she seems: she meets Dan’s charm with the allure of her own, and the two share an unforgettable night. When Dan tries and fails to compel Nina to forget their encounter, he suspects that she is no ordinary human. And when a gang of bloodthirsty vampires singles her out for a vicious kidnapping, he realizes the girl he has fallen head over heels for may very well be a Human Immortal, a being of awesome power. Nina will be able to reclaim her supernatural gifts if she chooses a mate of her own lineage, Nature’s Immortals: a Dragon, Were, or Fae. As a Vampire, Dan would only stand in the way of her destiny.

Will he find the courage to give up his true love just as soon as he has found her?

Unveiling is Book 1 of the Mythical Creatures Series, in which powerful Immortal beings battle for justice in a magical world just beyond the veil of our own.

••••••••••

REVIEW: Dan is a vampire. Now, in this book his vampire side seems to be a separate entity, the vampire side can exist on bagged blood and animal blood, but insists on the real thing once a week! Dan agrees, but the victim has to be of his choosing. I get the impression, Dan likes them attractive, interesting and easy.

Nina is looking for a job on campus, it seems she wants to go to school in this area. But she’s running out of time, meeting a stranger and having a drink with him isn’t in the schedule, but one orange juice won’t hurt, and he’s a cute guy.

Meeting Nina in a bar, at first glance she is nothing like Dan’s usual type! But her smell is so unique and alluring that he decides she’s going to be his next meal! But getting Nina to agree isn’t as easy as he thinks, she’s not sure, she feisty and she’s no fool.
But with a little charm and good luck they have a drink, pay her dorm fees and then decide on dinner……

I loved the mythology the author has created at the beginning of the book. Who the mythical creatures are created, how the humans feared them, and now human females hold inside them great power.

We get they have sex, we don’t get the details, so I’d say it’s geared towards the YA bracket.

Dan tries to make Nina forget their time together, but for the first time ever it doesn’t work! But before he can figure it out, Nina is kidnapped!! Nina is just wondering what the hell is going on, a drink with a total stranger and now she’s tied up and headed god knows where, could her day get any worse?

Dan manages to track Nina down. Rescues her, but now she’s frightened! She doesn’t understand why she was taken. He now has the unpleasant task of telling her she’s an immortal and has gifts that no mere human has, but to tap into them she needs to mate with a supernatural, but one of her bloodline (were, fae, dragon) Nina wants to know why she can’t mate a vampire, Dan is both pleased and annoyed (well the vamp side of him is annoyed) pleased she’s listening, but annoyed she’s not going to be with him!

Setting off to see the elders is the only course of action left open to Nina, she’s intrigued, who would’ve want to become immortal? But sad it won’t be with Dan! But who says she has to mate? It’s her choice, but her past is what motivates her to meet the elders.

It is a little immature in places (reminds me of the twilight series) as an adult I liked the premise, I thought the narration was good. An adult version probably would have been more graphic (sex scenes ). But I’m interested in finding out more in this world.

Meeting the elders is another level of weird. She’s being prompted to meet and mate! But Nina only wants Dan….

So can Dan and Nina really be together? It would be simpler to mate one of her kind, but that wouldn’t make for a good story now would it? And the story is pretty good. Written really well, descriptions jump out from the page. Nina and Dan are really well thought out. Dan becoming dust to travel, using mind control and having a separate entity living inside him, some ideas are tried and tested, others are new ideas and really clever.

So sign me up for the next adventure, it’s going to be a good one I think. Why? Well ….. no you’re going to have to read the book to find out why.

ABOUT THE BOOK: December 11, 2020

You think you know me, but you’re wrong.

CARRIE

You look at me and see Carrie, the girl with the wild hair and the wild clothes.
Reliable Carrie. Friendly. Quirky. Perhaps a little strange.
What do you really know about me, though?
The details of my past are up for debate.
I’ve been careful to hide my sins, and even more careful to follow the rules.
I do as I’m told. I keep to myself. I don’t mess around with boys, and I’m always ready to run.
At least that’s what I tell myself, anyway.
Since I met him, I’ve broken every single rule in the book.
He’s impossible. Arrogant. Terrifying.
If I’m not careful, Wolf Hall’s golden boy will do more than make me break the rules. He’ll wind up breaking me.

DASH

First, they hate me, then they hate themselves for wanting me. That’s how it always goes.

I’m the smart one. The charming one. The guy with the accent that makes girls go weak at the knees. As a resident of Riot House, I’m destined to rule Wolf Hall. Doesn’t matter where you come from. How much money you have. What your future holds. Cross the path of a Riot House Boy and you’re guaranteed to pay the price.
The girl isn’t special. She’s just another cog, turning in the wheel. So why, then, am I protecting her? And why am I keeping her a secret?

Call me a monster.
Call me a fiend.
Call me reprehensible.

Call me Lord Dashiell Lovett IV.

REVIEW:Holy Freaking Book Gods! My mind was a conundrum of excitement and fear with this one friends! First! Read the first book please! I know some people will say you can read it as a standalone, but I promise reading the first book -Riot House- will help you so much. Plus, it’s a freaking awesome book. Second! I am going to try to keep this a spoiler free as I possibly can, it’s too good to ruin for other readers. Third! I hope you’re ready to join team Dash.

A little back story first; when I read Riot House, I HATED Dash lol. He was Lord D-Bag, he was a pompous rich boy who didn’t care what he did or who he hurt. You meet him and all the other guys of Riot House in the first book, along with all the other characters. So much of Dash and Carrie’s back story is in the first book, which is why I think it’s a good idea to read it first.

Anyway; Dash’s entire world is rocked by Carrie, the guts of the book are dark and sexy, there’s drama, betrayal, vulnerability, hate and love. Everything you could fit into one book is in this one! I went into this book knowing it was going to be a long read, and at one point I almost stopped because it was starting to feel like it was dragging and then BAM! Dash opens his dirty mouth and I’m living for him all over again. Carrie is the light to his darkness, but don’t take her as a pushover, she has a will of steel and knows how to use it. I love how in depth we get into Carrie and her secrets; we see her at her worst, then her best. Dash and Carrie are so similar, it’s a little sad to read how much they want to be better for not only one another but for their friends as well.

If you’re not ready to cry, like I mean really cry; like your soulmate has been ripped from you cry, then don’t read this book. It’s going to hurt, like crawl into your spouse’s lap and cling to them like a kitten, cry. -Yes, I did that- This was my final read of 2020 and can I say, with a year that by far was the worst year yet, it was a little better ugly after reading this.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 2020

They might be richer than gods, but they’re morally bankrupt.
As far as the boys who run America’s most exclusive international academy are concerned, I’m an unwelcome interloper, an inconvenience, and they’re determined to make my life a living hell.

When Wren Jacobi sets eyes on Wolf Hall Academy’s newest inductee, all he sees is an easy mark. A reserved little girl with a target painted on her back. He knows nothing of my troubled past, though. Nothing of my mother’s suspicious death, or the horrific treatment I’ve had to endure at the hands of my psychotic father.

And he has no idea of the lengths that I, unassuming little Elodie Stillwater, will go to in order to break the savage beast who dreams of breaking me first.

There’s a wolf stalking the forests that surround my new school.
Little does he know…
There are far scarier predators lurking out there in the dark.

REVIEW: As complete virgin reader to Author Callie Hart, I was both very excited and nervous to sink my teeth into this book. From the blurb alone, I was unsure what type of adventure it was going to lead me on, but I was pleasantly surprised and addicted.

Welcome one and all to Wolf Hall Academy, the knock off version of Hogwarts, just take away the magic, throw in a dash of crazy rich kids and a bunch of steamy goodness and your good to go. Riot House is a mystery suspense romance that revolves around new girl Elodie Stillwater and resident bad boy Wren Jacobi. This book is recommended for mature readers and does have dark triggers, it is also a standalone and a perfect way to dip your toes into Callie Harts world.

Wren Jacobi is one of three guys of Riot House, filthy rich with nothing but time of their hands, and at Wolf Hall Academy they are kings. When new girl Elodie is sent to the Academy by her father, she is surprised by what she finds. Nothing is what it seems in this school, teachers swear, students do what they want and one of the resident bad boys seems to have taken a shine to her. To bad she wants nothing to do with him.

Wren is cold as ice and not just his personality, the Riot House guys seem to thrive on causing others pain, they live on it. They are friends and brothers, this comes into play in the book more and it’s an intriguing depth to the story I was expecting. Elodie changes all of that though. They have a relationship of give and take, there are moments when I was screaming at Wren, then others when I couldn’t love him more. Elodie and Wren are cut from the same cloth and though it takes time for them to realize what they have, their connection is so strong that it changes them forever. While Wren determined to make Elodie his, she is busy fighting the attraction she feels for him and the strong feelings he brings out in her. When Wren learns of what Elodie’s father has done, well lets just say, I have NEVER loved a character more.

The story line is indeed darker than I would normally read, but its quick paced and easy to keep up with. Hart has a way of weaving the mystery and romance together in way that you will never see the next twist coming. The suspense is awesome, you can’t wait to read the next page and see what is going to happen. Riot House is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery shrouded in shadow, or at least that’s what I felt while reading it. The mystery of the journal, the steamy scenes, the connection of two emotionally damaged souls, nothing beats this dark read. I give Riot House 4.5 stars and a personal “Yahoo!!”

Callie Hart is a USA Today bestselling author of dark romance novels. She is an obsessive romantic who loves throwing a dark twist into her stories. Her characters are imperfect, flawed individuals who dictate when she eats, sleeps and breathes. She loves to travel, and often pens her books when she’s on the road, drawing inspiration from unique and wild surroundings.

If she’s not writing, you’ll undoubtedly find her with her nose buried deep in a book, hiking a mountain, or trying to perfect her downward-facing dog.
