His eyes have the power to undo all the hurt caused by my family.

“Don’t let them see you cry.”

After months of refusing I finally agree to move to America, where my fiancé’s waiting for me.
Just like my mother, an arranged marriage lies in my near future.
Just like my mother, I’m probably going to be shoved aside in a couple of years after providing the Cutler family with an heir.

Being a Korean girl from a culture that’s very different from the west, it makes me stand out like a sore thumb. There’s nothing I can do but to accept the fate arranged by my father and his mistress. My marriage to Lake Cutler will be a business deal and nothing else.

My plan is simple.
Make him hate me enough to break off the engagement, so I can return to Korea.

But I didn’t account for those caring brown eyes.

What started as a mission to save myself from an unhappy arranged marriage soon turns into a battle to not lose my heart.

I dare him to walk away, but instead, he shows me any bridge can be crossed.

REVIEW:Lake by Michelle Heard is book three in the Trinity Academy Series. Lake Cutler, Falcon Reyes, and Mason Chargill are best friends since childhood. They are the heir apparents to CRC Holdings and the gods of Trinity Academy. Trinity Academy is an elite school for only the extremely wealthy. Lake and his friends have everyone’s utmost respect. They should – their grandfathers started Trinity Academy. And this is their last year before joining the legacy of their fore fathers. Lake Cutler has an agreement with his two best friends. At the end of the school year – Mason will take his place as President of CRC Holdings, Falcon will start a new business, and Lake will complete the business deal by marrying a wealthy investors daughter from Korea.

Lake has never met Lee-Ann Park but he is willing to do his part and marry her to secure the three friends financial futures.

Lee-Ann was sixteen years old and working two jobs while going to school, to help her mom make ends meet. When she is called home one day by her mother, she meets the man her mother says is her father, Chairman Park. Her mother has been allowed to raise her for sixteen years and her father Chairman Park, has just shown up to let her know that when she turns eighteen she will marry Lake Cutler, in America, whether she likes it or not. Using Lee-Ann’s mother as leverage, Chairman Park and his mistress have only one goal, making this marriage work for their own financial benefit. Lee-Ann does as she is asked for the sake of her mother. And after spending several months in contact with Lake, she makes the trip to America to finally meet him.

Lee-Ann has one goal – to make Lake hate her enough to call off the wedding so she can return to her mother in Korea. She has no idea she will be met with the most kindest of souls in Lake Cutler. And she quickly falls for her future husband.

Lake Cutler will do anything for his best friends. Even agree to an arranged marriage. He has spent the last several months preparing to meet his future wife. He texts with her and once a week they video chat. But he can’t stop the strange feeling that is eating away at him that something seems off. But he will do everything in his power to make Lee-Ann comfortable and feel safe when she is with him. Lee-Ann is a shy character who amazingly adjusted quite quickly to life in the United States. I enjoyed her experiencing new things and adjusting to her life that has taken a drastic turn. The only downfall was that the book felt rushed.

I enjoyed the relationship between Lake and Lee-Ann, I also loved how the other characters welcomed her into their lives. But it happened very quickly. I wish it would have taken more time to develop all the relationships. You can feel the love between Lake and Lee-Ann grow and I look forward to hopefully reading more about all the characters in the future.

I hope there is follow up books for all of the characters on where their lives take them. Because they are the type of characters you are just never ready to put away!

Well worth the read and book three in the Trinity Academy series.

“Chairman Park would like to know when you’ll start working at CRC Holdings.”My eyes dart to Mr. Reyes, who responds for me, “Lake will only be active as a shareholder.”

When the secretary translates the answer, the boring lunch transforms into something I’ve only seen in a drama.

Mr. Park shakes his head hard, and with a loud voice, starts saying, “No. No. No!”

He begins to ramble in Korean, which has me leaning into Lee. “What is he saying?”

She glances at me then back at Mr. Park, but begins to whisper, “He says you have to join the company. He won’t invest unless you do. He feels his investment should be looked after by my husband.”

“That was not the arrangement,” Mr. Reyes says, his voice calm in comparison with Mr. Park’s.

When Mr. Park begins to speak again, Lee whispers, “He wants it added to the contract that you’ll work at CRC Holdings.”

Before Mr. Reyes can reply, I say, “With all due respect, this is my future we’re discussing. I’d like to say something.”

Every pair of eyes settles on me, but I look directly at Mr. Park, and for once, he can’t just glance over me. “Are you aware of the percentage of shares my family holds?”

“Chairman Park is adamant. He wants you working at CRC Holding, or he would rather have his daughter marry Chairman Reyes’ eldest son,” the secretary says.

I can’t keep the smile from forming around my lips as I shake my head. When I stand up, Mason and Falcon instantly rise to their feet as well. Locking eyes with Mr. Park, I say, “Decisions regarding CRC Holding’s future are all made in the boardroom, Mr. Park.”

I’m well aware of the fact that I just insulted him by not using his title, and I pause a moment for that knowledge to sink in.

“I hold thirty percent.” I gesture to Mason. “Mr. Chargill holds thirty percent.” And I bring my hand up, resting it on Falcon’s shoulder. “Mr. Reyes holds ten percent. That gives us an overwhelming seventy percent voting right. We are a package deal, and Mr. Chargill will be the one to join CRC Holding.”

Somehow the secretary managed to listen to me and translate at the same time.

Damn, I need to learn Korean, so I can tell this man to go to hell in his own language.

“The Chairman asks what is stopping him from offering his daughter to Mr. Chargill.”

I feel Mason’s anger to my left, and glancing at him, I smile. “I’ve got this.”

Taking a moment to gather my thoughts, I glance at Mr. Reyes first, and when he nods, my eyes go to Mr. Chargill. The corner of his mouth pulls up, and lastly, I look at my father.

“Speak your mind, son. I back whatever decision you make.”

I lock gazes with Mr. Park. “CRC Holding does not belong to one man. It belongs to three families. Out of the four sons, I am your only option.”

“What the Chairman needs to realize,” Mr. Reyes says, “is that the men in our families run CRC Holdings and have done so successfully for two generations. Our wives do not have a say in the business.”

I button my jacket, and I feel Falcon move the chair from where it’s right behind me. “Mr. Park.” I wait for him to look at me. “CRC Holdings will not be intimidated. Our foundation isn’t built on fear, it’s built on loyalty. Consider this before you insult me again. I might be the quiet one, but that doesn’t make me the weakest.”

After an early night, I wake in the morning with my body sagging into the ground. “What the hell?”
I roll and flail, my air mattress squeaking like a little bitch.
Bear laughs and I turn. He’s watching me, thoroughly amused. “I’m not here for your entertainment,” I hiss, my back aching from an uncomfortable sleep.
“Someone needs her coffee.”
“Did you poke a hole in my mattress?”
“No, but there’s something poking a hole in my—”
“For the love of god!” I rise up, the knife from beneath my pillow in hand. “I’m gonna stab yours just for that.”
“No!” He laughs, half-rising from his own bed, warding me off with his massive paws. “That damn thing is probably why you woke up on the ground.”
I lunge across the tent, my knife jabbing straight into his inflatable mattress. It tears a long, deep gash in the corner. Air hisses out in a wheezy rush. “What in the actual fuck?” he shouts, falling back with a stunned laugh. “You’re such a bitch!”
The knife drops from my hand, and I double over, gasping with laughter while the airbed deflates around him, sinking him slowly to the ground.
“Now neither of us have a bed!”
“Oh well.” I tuck my knife away. “We can start on those bottles of red tonight until we can’t feel a damn thing, and then it won’t matter.”
I unzip the tent and step out, my jaw cracking from a yawn that stretches my face. “Bring me coffee!” he orders from inside the tent.
I turn my head, sneaking a glance his way. He’s standing over his duffel bag, clad in nothing but a tight pair of bright blue cotton boxer-briefs. It’s almost a physical punch. I linger a moment before I look away, back to the ocean, trying to dispel the image, but my mind won’t let it go. The wide, muscled shoulders, his tattooed arms, the thick washboard abs, his body scarred from combat and a lifetime of hard and heavy training.
I shiver with a sense of longing and have to remind myself that it’s just Bear as I start on the coffee. The same Bear who laughed his ass off when I tripped on the edge of the jetty in Broome and fell in the water. The one who snores like a freight train after one too many beers. The one slowly turning into a mountain man because he hasn’t shaved since we left. The very same Bear who tips his head back each night in his camp chair and makes me scratch his head with my nails while he sits there and whimpers like a little girl.

I have loved Rosa since I met her in high school English, even though the odds have always been stacked against us. She is the child of criminals, resigned to a bleak future. I’m the heir to a successful construction company and am not afraid to go after what I want.

And I want Rosa. Always and forever.

ROSA

I broke the law to make sure Marco got custody of our daughter, and I paid the price. But now that I’m out of jail, I’m terrified my ugly past might bleed into our daughter’s future.

The only way to ensure that doesn’t happen is staying far away from both of them.

But Marco isn’t letting me run from him. Not again.

REVIEW: NEED YOU NOW is the fourth instalment in Molly O’Keefe’s contemporary, new adult THE DEBT erotic, romance series focusing on a group of former teens thrown together in the foster care/juvenile system of San Francisco,California-Tommy, Beth, Simon, Rosa and Carissa. This is Rosa and Marco’s second chance story line.

Told from three first person points of view (Marco, Rosa, Bates) using present day and memories from the past, NEED YOU NOW follows the rebuilding relationship between waitress Rosa, and single father Marco. Approximately four years earlier, while in the foster care system, horrific acts of violence are perpetrated on five young souls-Tommy, Beth, Simon, Rosa and Carissa- who will be beaten and broken for any number of offenses deemed inappropriate or wrong. These five ‘young offenders’ destroyed by a sexually and physically abusive foster family, will discover that freedom came at a cost- all debts must be repaid; anytime, anywhere, without question or fail.

Rosa and Marco were in love but life for Rosa and the others was a nightmare in the foster care system. Raised by an abusive and racist father, Rosa landed in the system, only to face more abuse as time went on. Falling in love with Marco meant a chance at happiness but a pregnant Rosa would take matters into her own hands when the attacks against her ‘foster siblings’ dealt its final blow. On the run, having no idea about the death and destruction back home, Rosa would steal a car, ensuring the man she loved, would get custody of their new born daughter. Fast forward four years wherein Rosa has been released from prison, but struggles to reintegrate with the man that she loved, and the daughter she never knew. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Marco and Rosa, and the potential fall-out as the man who holds the IOUs comes looking to help our story line heroine.

Rosa never knew what happened the night she decided to make her move. Having stolen the keys to free her friends, Rosa would walk away only to find herself in prison for stealing a car. While her friends would discover their freedom came at a cost, Rosa never knew freedom, just the loss of her daughter and friends. Rosa had promised Marco she would come looking for them upon her release but trouble back home with her brother and father, meant Rosa was unable to face the people she loved without brining danger and death to their front door. Marco had never stopped loving the mother of his child but Rosa refused to move back into their lives. Hoping against odds that Rosa wanted to be part of their lives, Marco goes in search of Rosa, offering a second chance.

All of the Rosa’s foster care siblings play secondary and supporting roles. The man who holds the ‘debts’ against the former friends makes Rosa an offer but Rosa isn’t willing to sell her soul for a few thousand dollars, a soul that was already damaged beyond repair.

NEED YOU NOW is a story of betrayal, vengeance, and abuse; of second chances and retribution; of family, friendship and love. A little darker than the previous instalments NEED YOU NOW continues to focus on the hellish life of five friends whose second chances come at a cost. The premise is edgy and raw; the characters are broken, colourful and determined; the romance struggles in the face of desperation, guilt and love.

He looked at me across the room and slowly shook his head. “I don’t want to love you,” he said.
“I know.”
“Half the time I hate you.”
“I know.”
He looked away from me, his hands in fists, and I could feel the tension across the room, the fragile control he had on himself. How he was barely holding on. And I knew that he would never hurt me. The thing he was trying to stop himself from doing was touch me.
“I’m leaving,” he said and crossed the room in three angry steps. Everything in me told me to get out of the way. To let him go. But I didn’t. I stood right in front of the door in my gold vest and hot pants.
His face was flushed. “Get out of my way,” he said, and my mouth was full, my throat closed, and I shook my head. “Don’t make me,” he said. “Don’t make me touch you.”
It was exactly what I was doing, because I would take his touch any way I could get it.
“Fuck, Rosa,” he groaned. “Fuck you.”
And he put his hands around my arms and pulled me up and into his body so my breasts touched his chest, and between my legs I felt the hard pressure of him. I gasped and he turned. I expected him to let me go. I expected him to shove me away but he didn’t. Oh god, he didn’t. He lifted me off my feet and took two steps forward, pushing me against the wall. Not gently. But not rough. And then he leaned against me, his entire body against mine. And I was electrified. Every inch of my skin burned where it touched his.
I burned so hot I burned right through all the years. All the pain fell away and it was just us. Marco and me and the desire so pure it kept changing the course of both our lives.
He held himself so still, so carefully, and he was going to walk away. I knew he was. He would walk away and this moment would never happen again.
“Please,” I begged, because it was all I had left. No more pride. No more distance. I was only need.

“You’re my assistant.”

The magic words every girl at Trinity Academy is dying to hear.

But I’m the one who gets stuck with Mason Chargill, the star of most women’s fantasies but my nightmare. One of the heirs to CRC Holdings, he might be dangerously gorgeous, but his cold and callous demeanor makes him an ice prince.

He expects me to abide by the Academy’s hierarchy, to be at his constant beck and call.
Yeah, right… hell will freeze over before that ever happens.

Unfortunately for him, I’m no pushover.
Unfortunately for me, he’s determined to break me.

If only there were a way to melt the shard of ice he calls a heart.

REVIEW Mason is book two in the Trinity Academy series by Michelle Heard. Mason Chargill, Falcon Reyes and Lake Cutler have been best friends since childhood. They are the heir apparents to CRC Holdings and the gods of Trinity Academy. Trinity Academy is an elite school for only the extremely wealthy. Mason and his friends have everyone’s utmost respect. They should – their grandfathers started Trinity Academy.

Mason Chargill is the next President of CRC Holdings and he knows his place in the world. But at Trinity Academy he is one of the most sought after bachelors. Mason is a no nonsense, tends to be a sarcastic ass, but yet gorgeous as all get out. That’s why he is fawned over by every girl at Trinity Academy. His gruff and abrupt personality leaves many to think his heart is a block of ice, but deep down he truly is the kindest of souls, with a lot of baggage.

Mason has chosen his assistant, a one Kingsley Hunt. And for the first time ever he has met his match. While Kingsley is somewhat scared of Mason and his constant antagonizing, she squares up and lets him know that she will not be at his beckon call or answer to his every whim. This completely intrigues Mason. He has never had a woman stand up to him the way Kingsley does. And the back and forth between them will leave you laughing out loud.

Mason has a ton of baggage, he lost his sister in an auto accident, he harbors guilt that he could of saved his sister but didn’t. Even though there is no reason for Mason to feel the way he does, it was an accident. He still harbors these feelings and they keep him locked behind a mask that he portrays to the world. While he enjoys giving Kingsley a hard time, he slowly begins to enjoy having her around and having someone put him in his place when need be But, it takes almost losing Kingsley to make him realize that he has feelings for her.

Mason Chargill is the complete ass that you want to love. You want to break through his tough exterior and get to the gooey center. And this book does just that. In book one he is cocky and arrogant but you know there is a reason behind the way he acts. His friends are loyal and would die for Mason, so you know there is something good in there – somewhere.

This book dives you right into what makes Mason tick and in the end you fall completely head over heels in love with him. The trauma of his past and what makes him Mason is gut wrenching and at times heartbreaking to read. Not even going to lie, I cried. I cried a lot at the pain Mason was feeling and what it took for him to face his trauma. He is such a complex character that you just can’t wait for him to open his heart and let Kingsley in.

Kingsley Hunt doesn’t come from old money. In fact, trying to find her place at Trinity hasn’t been easy. She knows she doesn’t fit into their world. But she is going to make the most of what she has. Kingsley has become best friends with Layla. Falcon’s girlfriend, which puts her right in the firing line for Mason. But, Kingsley just doesn’t take Mason’s crap from the get go. She dishes everything he gives right back to him. She also makes you want to become her best friend and hang out and eat snacks all day. I love that all of the main characters are completely loyal to each other. That no matter what they are there for each other.

This series has been a whirlwind of emotions. You know those cocky rich guys that you want to hate. But once you crack their inner circle you start to realize that they have their own issues and problems. And they deal with them on a daily basis just like everyone else. I have completely fallen for the men of Trinity Academy!

I just want to add that Michelle Heard has now become the reigning queen of cliffhangers. Book ones cliffhanger was like UGH…. Ok… Can’t wait for book two. But this books cliffhanger left me shocked and bewildered and cursing Queen Heard. Because seriously – who does that to someone! I mean I should have expected. It but absolutely did not see it coming – flying out of left field to smack me right in the face. Well played… Well played….

I gesture for her to walk ahead.

When we walk into her suite, she goes to place the bag on the coffee table, while I shut the door. I take a couple of steps deeper into the room.

“I’ve been looking for you.”

She digs through the bag and pulls out a lollipop. “I went to the store. Needed to restock my candy stash. I was supposed to go last night, but yeah, you know what happened.”

Unwrapping the candy, she pops it in her mouth. “Want one,” she mumbles around it.

“You seriously don’t care what people think about you, do you?”

She shrugs and sitting down on the couch, she points to the other couch. Taking the candy from her mouth, she says, “Sit.”

Yeah, let’s get this over and done with. I walk to the couch and sitting down, I rest my forearms on my knees and lock eyes with her.

“Are you going to tell the entire Academy we slept together?”

REVIEW: Falcon by Michelle Heard is book one in the Trinity Academy Series.

Falcon Reyes, Lake Cutler and Mason Chargill best friends since childhood. They are the heir apparents to CRC Holdings and the gods of Trinity Academy.

Trinity Academy is an elite school for only the extremely wealthy. Falcon and his friends have everyone’s utmost respect. They should – their grandfathers started Trinity Academy. And this is their last year before joining the legacy of their fore fathers.

This year everyone is vying to be these three young men’s assistants. Everyone that is, except for Layla Shepard. Layla’s mother Stephanie is assistant to Falcon’s father Grayson Reyes, CEO of CRC Holdings. And she has received a free ride to Trinity. She knows she doesn’t belong in their world, but she needs this to get her degree in journalism. She just wants to stay below the radar and not let anyone find out she doesn’t come from money.

That is until a twist of fate has Falcon deciding that Layla will be his assistant. Layla wants nothing to do with any of this, she just wants to study and mind her own business. But by becoming Falcon’s assistant she is now front page news and not everyone is happy about it.

At the start of the book Falcon and his friends come off as quite conceited and overpowering. But once Layla comes into all of their lives you can see them slowly shift to the true men they are. The ones that have hidden themselves from the reputation they try to portray.

Obviously money can’t buy you happiness. And Falcon has a life of luxury and everything he ever wanted. But what he truly wants is someone to brighten up the world that he sees as only black and white. Once he chooses Layla as his assistant and she doesn’t cower or just simply fall at his feet. He starts to see her as something other than the charity case her father helped get into Trinity.

Layla is strong and opinionated, but she also sees the world much differently than Falcon. And when she starts to show him other ways of looking at situations, his eyes begin to open and a whole new world appears to him.

I loved everything about this book. I loved the beginning where Falcon and his friends were almost obnoxious and carefree. Going about their lives without a care in the world. I loved Kingsley for become Layla’s first friend at Trinity and for sticking by her once she knew her background and how she came to be at Trinity. I loved Lake in all his amazing greatness. He is the bond that holds the friends together and he would do anything for Falcon and Mason. I loved Mason in a his beautiful, brutal honestly.

You can see the pain and the hurt seeping from every page that contains Mason. I cannot wait to read Mason’s and Lake’s books. A wonderful book that shows you that money isn’t the root of happiness and that you can’t judge a book by its cover.

A wonderful quick read – that will leave you wanting more. And the ending of book one – I seriously was left blindsided. Book two cannot come soon enough.

Highly recommend.

“You have to pull away. I’m not strong enough to let you go,” he whispers, and it feels as if the words carry a deeper meaning.I lower my legs and squeeze myself out from the space between Falcon and the wall. With a trembling hand, I try to straighten my hair before I open the door. Blocking the inside of my suite with my body, I say, “I’m going to have to miss today’s class. Can you take notes for me?”

A slow smile spreads over Kingsley’s face. “Sure. We can exchange notes later, although I bet yours will be much more interesting than mine.”

I stick my tongue out at her, which only makes her laugh as she walks away. “Enjoy it.”

I shake my head as I close the door and turning around, I lean back against it.

Falcon is still standing exactly where I left him, bracing himself with hands against the wall. I let my eyes glide over the wide expanse of his back, his trim waist, perfect butt, and strong legs.

There’s so much power in this man.

Not only is he physically strong, but he has the kind of influence most people can’t even begin to imagine.

And me… I’m an eighteen-year-old girl who managed to make him lose control

Society Girl by Alys Murray – a Review

Society Girl by Alys Murray – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / BAM / Book Depository / Google Play

Description:
Sam Dubarry is a cynic. Growing up in the foster system in NYC does that to you. And falling in love is by far the stupidest thing you could do in her opinion.

But there’s one thing she craves more than anything—family. The illegitimate American daughter of an English Lord, Sam is desperate to make her father take notice of her. Which is where the Animos Society comes in.

The exclusive Oxford University club is her family’s legacy—and full of the worst kind of rich men. But becoming the first female member will take everything she has. Maybe more.

Daniel Best is the one man who truly sees Sam. The real her. The new mechanic for her father, Daniel is everything the Animos’ aren’t. Kind, honorable, good. But then the worst thing she can imagine happens…

The Society will let her in, if she destroys the one person she might be falling in love with first.

Review:

Society Girl by Alsy Murray is a contemporary new adult romance.

Sam Dubarry is a young American woman, she wanted what she never had; a family. Growing up in foster care was brutal and all she wanted was a family to call her own.  Finding her father, a man of English nobility then knowing that he doesn’t care for her, it hurt. Now she has a new goal. To be accepted by her father Sam is determined to try out for the Secret Animos Society at Oxford. This is a male run group, making Sam the first woman to have anything to do with the Society.

After accomplishing ever task they gave her, the Society then gives her another. Make someone fall in love with her and take that person to the Animos Society Ball.

Enter Daniel Best; the one man who she would never want to hurt. Daniel is charged with taking care of her father’s car collection and spends his free time at his Grandma’s shop, determined to make his dream of becoming a singer come true.  Daniel is one of the most fantastic characters I have had the pleasure of reading in some time, he is sweet, gentle, kind and an all-around good person. Sam goes to the extreme with this group, and there were some parts of this book that really made me not want to finish it.

Sam’s journey shows her parts of herself I don’t think she was ready to see, but also teaches her a few lessons that were necessary. A very good story and one I would recommend to other readers.

LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE
(Saints and Sinners #1)
by Eden Butler
Genre: adult, contemporary, erotic, romance

ebook ONLY 99¢ Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 20, 2019

She isn’t the girl Luka Hale loved.

Gia Jilani killed the child she’d been, right along with the memory of his smile and the sting of his sweet kiss.

But sometimes, against her will, Luka comes back to her— his smile, his laugh, the crooked twist of his lips just before he kissed her. He’s a phantom that won’t ever fade. He’s a reminder of what happens if you love too deeply.

Now Gia returns to the place where the past and the present converge. Where pain and pleasure threaten to consume her. Where she is forced to face a past that has never really left her and the memories that still haunt her and likely always will.

This is a Saints and Sinners prequel novel set in the Thin Love timeline

•••••••••••

REVIEW: LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE is the first instalment and novella in Eden Butler’s contemporary, adult SAINTS AND SINNERS erotic, romance series. This is college sweethearts Luka Hale, and Gia Jilani’s storyline. The Saints and Sinners is a spin off fro the author’s Thin Love Series. LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE runs parallel to and crosses over with the premise of THIN LOVE, and should not be read as a stand alone. It is recommended the reader read THIN LOVE (see review below) before venturing into Last Love of Luka Hale.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Gia and Luka) using present day and memories from the past LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE focuses on the short-lived, forbidden romance of college football star Luka Hale, and ‘water girl’ Gia Jilani. Luka Hale doesn’t do relationship but meeting the coach’s niece, Gia Jiliani, stirred something deep within our storyline hero. Trying to keep their relationship a secret, Gia and Luka venture forth hiding behind locked doors as their romance develops into something more.

LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE is the prequel novella that introduces Gia Jilani, sports agent to the stars, and the only woman Luka Hale had ever loved. The premise is lighthearted but sad; the romance is hot and heavy; the characters are sassy and sexy. A quick look at Kona Hale’s twin brother, LAST LOVE OF LUKA HALE is a bitter sweet story of first love and loss.

“You got no idea, do you?” He kept his voice soft, low, though his insides were burning with the instinct to touch her, to lick dry the water from her beautiful skin. Luka closed his eyes, inhaling that lilac scent like it would satisfy him. He knew it wouldn’t. “You’re clueless how easy it would be to have any man you want?”
Luka opened his eyes when he felt the wet touch of her fingertips near his cheek. Gia didn’t smile. She didn’t seem able to do anything but hold every emotion off her face as she watched him. Her control awed him.
Gia opened her mouth, pink lips glistening with moisture as she wet them with her tongue. “I only want one man,” she admitted, her words confident, but there was still a wobble in her tone. Luka tensed, not sure what she wanted or how she’d go about getting whatever that was.
She meant him, he knew, but that wouldn’t make him move. It wouldn’t keep the reminder of her age, her probable inexperience from his thoughts. “You’re young,” he told her, hoping that would keep her from touching him again.
“I’m old enough.”
Luka was starting to realize this Gia was one that might be tired of the sidelines. Maybe she was tired of watching and waiting and never having what she wanted. Maybe, he thought, she was ready to step onto the field and play.
Gia moved, making Luka step back, her wet body closer to him now, her breath heating his skin as she spoke. “I’m old enough for you, Luka.” Her breath was cool, smelled like mint, and there was a low, soft moan in her voice that made him harder. “My…my uncle…” She cleared her throat, looking down, then quickly up at him as though internally convincing herself to finish this. “My uncle will leave for Florida after tomorrow’s practice.” Some of her confidence slipped when she brushed her wet hair behind her ear, but she still looked directly at Luka. “My dorm is empty. We could be alone.”
Fuck me, he thought.
She was off limits, right? She was forbidden. Luka knew that. It was information that ran like a ticker tape scrolling in his mind. Gia wasn’t some beautiful woman he’d flirted with at a club or some Blue Devil-proud girl eager to thank Luka for his performance on the field.
She was his coach’s niece. She was his coach’s eighteen-year-old niece.
He could have taken her right then. She was already wet. He was sufficiently hard, but Luka held back, teeth gritted, jaw working as he grabbed the towel hanging from the hook next to the entrance. He moved close, his skin wetting as he grazed her chest and shoulder when he covered her body with the thick towel in his hand. The smallest twist of his head and he could reach her mouth. Their lips were so close already, their breath heated and mixed and did things to Luka’s head he wasn’t sure he liked.
Gia shifted her gaze, moving her chin like she was prepared for whatever he gave her. Like she wanted it all and wouldn’t settle for anything less. But Luka reminded himself one last time who she was and why he shouldn’t be there with her. He lingered, unable to pull back out of her reach before he inhaled, taking in that lilac scent and the teasing delicious taste of her breath.
He moved his chin, a half an inch away from her lips, then grinned, a half smile gesture that made her release the breath she’d been holding.
“Be sure to lock up before you head out,” he told her, winking before he turned to grab his clothes and put as much space between that off-limits girl and himself as he could.

About the book: Release Date August 18, 2014

Love isn’t supposed to be an addiction. It isn’t supposed to leave you bleeding.

Kona pushed, Keira pulled, and in their wake, they left behind destruction.

She sacrificed everything for him.

It wasn’t enough.

But the wounds of the past can never be completely forgotten and still the flame remains, slumbers between the pleasure of yesterday and the thought of what might have been.

Now, sixteen years later, Keira returns home to bury the mother who betrayed her, just as Kona tries to hold onto what remains of his NFL career with the New Orleans Steamers. Across the crowded bustle of a busy French Market, their paths collide, conjuring forgotten memories of a consuming touch, skin on skin, and the still smoldering fire that begs to be rekindled.

When Kona realizes the trifecta of betrayal—his, Keira’s and those lies told to keep them apart—his life is irrevocably changed and he once again takes Keira down with him into the fire that threatens to ignite them both.

••••••••••

REVIEW: THIN LOVE is the first instalment Eden Butler’s contemporary, new adult to adult THIN LOVE erotic, romance series. This is Kona Hale, and Keira Riley’s story line.

NOTE: Due to the story line content, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kona and Keira) following two time lines, THIN LOVE focuses on the co-dependant, toxic relationship between Kona Hale, and Keira Riley. College sweethearts, Kona and Keira’s love affair weathers the pain of jealousy, anger, abuse and betrayal.

Kona’s reputation as a man-whore precedes his introduction to our story line heroine, a reputation marred by bouts of aggression, fury, and physical confrontation. Kona Hale is a spoiled college student whose only aspiration is to make it big as a professional football player but Kona must first get past his new English partner, a partner who gives as good as she gets. Keira Riley wants nothing to do with the charismatic Kona Hale but something about Kona attracts Keira like a moth to a flame. A tumultuous and acrimonious love-hate relationship ensues until everyone’s life spirals out of control. From interfering, racist and controlling parents to the ultimate betrayal and loss, Keira and Kona’s relationship implodes leaving heart break and hatred in the wake. Fast forward sixteen years wherein Kona will come face to face with his past, a past he never knew existed but is quickly following in his own footsteps.

THIN LOVE is a dark and emotional story; an intense, dramatic and oft-times difficult tale that follows the poisonous love between two people whose worlds are about to collide. Eden Butler pulls the reader into a raw and gritty love story; a cautionary and thought provoking tale of chaos and catastrophe. There are numerous issues of repetitiveness but if you can get past the frequent use of the same word(s), the tragedy will unfold.

From nerdy bookworm to Fae Slayer in training.

My life is carefully planned, and blissfully free of surprises. I hate surprises.

Discovering I come from a long line of Fae Slayers and must give up my position at a prestigious college to attend a Slayer Academy?

Worst. Surprise. Ever.

I’m a nerd. A bookworm. I slay with words, not swords.

Fighting to stay at the top of the class is nothing compared to fighting to survive.

If the deadly weapons and mysteriously hot, but possibly evil guys don’t kill me, then six months without cell reception might.

He haunts my dreams… His eyes pierce my soul.. but will my sword have to pierce his heart?

Megara’s battle to survive Slayer Academy has just begun. Weapons classes, unexpected passion, and forbidden love await in The Legacy…

The legacy is the first book in a New Adult, college-age paranormal academy series. Expect magic lessons, a bookworm heroine, a sexy scene or two,and a slow-burn forbidden love romance

***Author note – this series is three novella length urban fantasy books. Recommended 17+ due to language and love scenes.

REVIEW: Reading the back cover, I got the impression of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I liked that show, so I flipped the kindle open and dived in…..

Megara (or Meg to her friends)is not a kick ass warrior woman, Meg is a book worm, she’s not use to fighting and certainly not monsters. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back …..

Meg is off to do a gap year before deciding what’s next in her life she very excited. But her whole world is about to change, and in her opinion, not for the better.

She’s unaware that both her parents are Fae slayers (and are pretty good at their job) and it’s time for their daughter to leave this life and enrol in Slayer Academy, to say that Megara is shocked and displeased is an understatement…… she’s thinking it’s a big joke, but as it sinks in, she realises her family are serious, they are going to shop her off to some school….

Arriving at the front of the academy Megara is in awe of the building, but she’s also a little apprehensive, it doesn’t look too friendly, and the nerves Meg had been suppressing, come back big a bang (this is all some terrible dream).

We meet other class mates (and that wasn’t a great first meeting) they aren’t impressed, the Callum’s are great warriors and hunters of the Fae, and Meg, well she’s a big disappointment!!!

We then read all the fun times (not) with weaponry (she’s no good with swords) and her hand to hand skills are a joke!!! But the other lessons, Meg is a keen student and makes the grades.

And it’s not teenage angst unless there is a love story…. and this one will be a forbidden one, why? Is Fiore Fae ? And if so, that’s a big NO NO in the slayer world, they can’t and shouldn’t be together, but you try telling a teenager NO?and Fiore (that’s the hunks name) is definitely worth disobeying everyone for. There is just something about him (besides being hot) there is a connection Megara has never felt with anyone before. But there is also that element of danger that keeps Meg from falling too deep.
We also have Brutus (a student at the school) there is definitely a spark between them, so we could have a love triangle?

Oh and did I mention a Legacy? (Well the title does give it away) it’s her legacy, five generations of her family have attended and have slain the evil Fae. Is there more to her legacy (I have a feeling there is)

So if you like heroines that’s aren’t warriors, that are nerds first and foremost, then you definitely need to pick this book up.

And book two….. if it’s half as good as this one, then I’m in.

FAE HUNTER
Slayer Academy Year 2
by Amelia Shaw
Genre:new adult, paranormal
Release Date: August 1, 2019

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk / Amazon.au /

From Fae Slayer to renegade rebel.
Slayer Academy 101:
•The Fae are evil
•A Slayer must trust their instincts.

Well, my instincts are flashing like a neon sign—the Academy can’t be trusted.
I’ve glimpsed the true heart of a Fae prince. Fiore is kind, merciful and saved my life.
Now he’s missing.

Journeying to the Fae realm is treacherous, especially with Nyeer, the Fae prince who tried to kill me.
But loathing soon turns to lust and Nyeer strips away my defenses—along with my clothes— until my heart’s in just as much danger as my life.

This Fae Slaying gig is not all it’s cracked up to be.
Magic lessons and weapons classes were child’s play compared to the fight to rescue Fiore and protect the Fae Kingdom.
And to save three Fae princes, their Kingdom’s only defense… I may have to give them up forever.

Author warning: This book is much hotter than book 1. ***Fae Hunter is the second book in a College-age Paranormal Reverse Harem Academy series.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: Reading the description I got the distinct impression our Meg is turning into a little slut!!! (Well she slept with Brutus, she’s been having sexy dreams about Fiore, and now she’s turned her attention to Nyeer) I can’t keep up with the girl?

We start this book at the beginning of a new term, Meg has just spent the last two weeks at her parents, catching up with her BFF and family. But now she’s back, her mission is clear …… Find evidence that the Fae aren’t as bad as the history books say they are.

Megara/Meg has decided that she’s not going to hunt and kill the evil Fae, she’s going to find out what the truth is, and she feels like the Fae have had a raw deal for centuries. But proving it will be difficult, she can’t tell her roommates, she can’t tell Brutus (sparring partner and part time lover) she can’t even ask the librarian. She’s on this mission alone. She just needs to speak to Fiore or Nyeer (one of the Fae leaders)

She gets her wish sooner than she anticipated, a portal opens and a figure emerges…..

Fiore is missing!!! Meg needs to do something, she feels like it’s her fault. She needs to do research whilst waiting for Nyeer to return in three days time.

After meeting up with Nyeer, he takes her back to his castle (he is one of the three princes that rules the Fae kingdom, Fiore being one of the others)
Teaching Meg defence movements has her all hot and bothered, and before you know it Meg and Nyeer are going at it like bunny rabbits (this not I found a bit disconcerting, if there is a connection between Fiore and Meg, why is she in bed with Nyeer?)

The third prince (Everly) makes an appearance at the castle and is disgusted that no one is looking for the third Prince (Fiore) Meg is feeling really guilty and steps up the attempts to find Fiore……
With luck and a little magic, they find where Fiore is being held, and plan a rescue.

Do they rescue Fiore? Will Megara have to chose? And who will it be?
And boy is it a cliffhanger ending……

This book is more racier than the first, it felt like it was heading towards a reverse harem (three guys one woman)

Hi guys! Thank you so much for asking me to do a post today. I’ve been writing on and off for ten years, and have been published for the last six years or so.

Follow: Facebook / Website / Bookbub Instagram /

I write under several pen names, and my other PNR one is Tamsin Baker, but I leave that pseudonym for more of my LGBT or unusual projects now.

My latest series is – the Slayer Academy.

A college aged- New adult, Paranormal Academy serial. A trilogy. It’s my first ever New adult story, so it’s been challenging to get the themes and language right.

Not to mention the fact I’d never written about the Fae before. I loved the idea of the touch of magic, other realms and beautiful men. I mean- who doesn’t? But getting the balance right was hard as well.

Question 1. Cover Images-do you believe a cover image can make or break a book sale?

I do. I am a massive cover art collector. I love pre-mades and have over ten files sitting in my old downloads that I know I’ll never use- but HAD to buy them at the time. Without thought to market or genre- I just wanted them.

I think you have to have an appealing cover- but it also has to tell the person looking at it- exactly what the book is about in the two second glance we give a new cover.

I do like my covers for this series- but since launching them I’ve acknowledged that I will need to hire a higher priced, more photoshop trained designer for my next series.

Question 2. Balancing writing and family.

Hmmm… well, to answer this question correctly, I will have to reveal that I live in an unusual family situation. My relationship is a closed poly triad, with my husband and our live in partner/girlfriend. My husband has four grown children, I have two biological children and I help raise my girlfriends two children. So in short, we have three adults, four children under ten and I have a day job as well.

How do I balance it all? Prioritise. I have a cleaner- my girlfriend and I share the washing, the cooking, the shopping. I try to write in pockets of time I have when my kids are asleep, at school, or at their fathers.

My writing is a passion, a need, a must. I can’t… not write. So, like with all passions, I think you find the time. Even if it means I don’t watch much tv, but I always have quality time with my kids and my partners.

That’s my priority as I work towards publishing and writing full time.

Thanks for your time! And I hope you enjoy one, some or ALL of my books!
