Greyson Meyers can’t afford the distraction of a relationship. His focus is football and earning his degree to ensure his mom never has to work another day.

Mila Atwool has it all together—at least, that’s what everyone thinks. But after an incident fractured her safety and trust last year, Mila’s been struggling to maintain appearances.

The two strike a deal: Mila will pose as his girlfriend to make his life appear better balanced so he can earn a sponsorship, and in turn, Grey will train her in self-defense to help her rebuild a sense of security.

Two and a half years of friendship ensured their fake relationship would be a safe bet—or so they thought. But what was a simmering tension quickly boils over, and both are terrified of getting burned.

They realize this new zone may be impossible to escape unscathed.

Andy important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Greyson Meyers is on the fast track to professional football but wants to invest another year in college. ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 6, 2023

Welcome back to Redwood University, where nothing is as it seems…and I’m stronger than anyone expects.

My nineteenth birthday awakened something within me, revealing truths I could’ve never imagined. My new powers do not come without risk, though, and the future of shifters everywhere rests upon my shoulders.

As my mate is preparing to challenge his father, the evil alpha proves he has a few tricks up his sleeve that could destroy the entire supernatural community.

It’s a fight for our lives, but as Alexei and I have learned, we are stronger together. If Alpha Jones wants to steal our fate, then we’ll band together and take him down.

Because no one is going to deny us our happily ever after.

REVIEW: TO CLAIM A MATE is the third and final instalment in Poppy Ireland’s contemporary, new adult REDWOOD UNIVERSITY paranormal, romance trilogy focusing on heir to the Redwood Pack Alpha Alexei Koenig, and eighteen year old Nicole Fairweather. TO CLAIM A MATE cannot be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book two TO SAVE A MATE. If you have not read the previous two instalments there may be spoilers in my review.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, strong language and questionable consent, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several first person perspectives ( Alexei, Nicole, General Minifred, Christian) TO CLAIM A MATE follows in the wake of the disappearance of our story line heroine. Nicole Fairweather has always believed she is human but the approach of her nineteenth birthday brings with it an unknown power inherited from the mother she never knew. As Alpha Jones takes aim at all races of the supernatural, Nicole finds herself hiding and training with the Fae, as her mate Alexei Koenig is whisked through a portal with a coven of witches.Working together to stop the destructive reign of Alpha Jones, Alexei and Nicole will prove their mating and match are fated and real.

The relationship between Nicole and Alexei is one of fated mates but one of which several wolves including the Alpha refuse to accept. Nicole is thought to be human but Nicole is much than anyone could have ever imagined. As Nicole struggles to come into her powers, Alexei must take a stand in an effort to take control from the top. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive and provocative.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and magical secondary and supporting from several supernatural factions including shifters, vampires, witches and Fae. Alexei’s second in command and beta Corbin finds his mate in Nicole’s best friend Bee, and there is a second chance at love Nicole’s father, Alexei’s mother, and Bee’s father General Minifred. I am hoping the authors have future story lines planned for several of the secondary characters.

TO CLAIM A MATE is a detail and complex story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, madness and mayhem, magic and fate. The fast paced, action packed and character driven premise is dramatic and intense; the romance is fated and passionate; the characters are energetic, enchanted and powerful.

What happens when you fall for your brother’s best friend? Find out in this upcoming sports romance by New York Times bestselling author Monica Murphy…

Camden Fields is the star quarterback of our college football team.

Quiet.

Smart.

Absolutely gorgeous.

He’s the man all the women on campus rave about. And while he’s had a few casual hookups over the years, it’s never anything serious. Cam doesn’t do serious.

He also doesn’t do me.

See, I’m his best friend’s little sister, and whenever we’re around each other, he’s always warning me that I’m off limits. That nothing can ever happen between us.

But I see the way he looks at me when he thinks I’m not watching. The heat in his gaze. The hunger. He can deny it, but that man wants me.

I want him too.

I’m tired of always being the good girl and doing what everybody expects. For once, I’m going to break all the rules that have restrained me my entire life.

I’m going after Camden Fields.

And no one can stop me.

Welcome back to Redwood University, where a power-hungry shifter wants to rule them all; and those strong enough to stand up to him must fight.

I tried to flee Redwood University, but when my father was kidnapped by a ruthless alpha, I was forced to submit. With a broken heart and wounded pride, I reluctantly followed his demands–if only to keep my father alive.

REVIEW: TO SAVE A MATE is the second instalment in Poppy Ireland’s contemporary, new adult REDWOOD UNIVERSITY paranormal, romance trilogy focusing on heir to the Redwood Pack Alpha Alexei Koenig, and eighteen year old Nicole Fairweather. TO SAVE A MATE cannot be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book one-TO REJECT A MATE.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, strong language and questionable consent, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers

Told from several first person perspectives ( Alexei, Nicole, Corbin, Alpha Jones) TO SAVE A MATE continues to focus on heir to the Redwood Pack Alpha Alexei Koenig, and eighteen year old Nicole Fairweather. In the wake of Alexei’s rejection of Nicole; her public humiliation and embarrassment; as well as her father’s imprisonment at the order of Alpha Jones, Nicole must consider her options going forward. With the assistance of Christian and the local Vampire clan, the Fae ,witches, and her mother’s former friends and sorority sisters, Nicole must come to terms with what has happened and why but all is not as it appears to be when Alpha Jones’ obsession with power and control threaten the truce between the shifters and the supernatural order, and his relationship with his son and only heir. Completely unaware of her own inherent powers, Nicole continues to search for the truth, a truth that is about to push Alexei out of her life, and into the arms of someone else. What ensues is the continued betrayal by Alexei and his father, and the fall-out when Alexei walks away from his heritage, proclaiming Nicole Fairweather as his mate and his love.

The relationship between Alexei and Nicole continues to be acrimonious as shifters cannot, and will not claim a human as a mate but Alexei’s heart and the his wolf know Nicole is their mate, even though no one knows the truth about the who or what of our story line heroine. Nicole’s true powers, and her supernatural abilities have been hidden; locked away where no one including Nicole are able to access but with the approach of her nineteenth birthday, Nicole will emerge more powerful and stronger than anyone could have imagined. Heart broken and destroyed by her fated mate, Nicole is willing to cross the line in favor of aligning with someone else.

There continues to be a large ensemble cast of colorful and powerful supernatural secondary and supporting characters: Nicole’s father Dr. David Fairweather; Redwood University president and Pack Alpha Jones Koenig and his ‘luna’ Anya; Alexei’s best friend and Beta Corbin, and his sister Mara, as well as witch Juniper, vampire Christian, and Nicole’s familiar Macey. We are introduced to Nicole’s best friend Bee, and her father General August Minifred; Nicole’s ‘aunts’ Jade and Hannah, as well as professor Dr. Cammie Viden. The requisite evil has many faces; the cast of mean girls, bullies and malevolent adults continues to create anxiety and stress for everyone including this reader as the story line / series has succumbed to a YA atmosphere with its’ preconditioned standards.

TO SAVE A MATE is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, madness and obsession, speciesism and hatred, forgiveness and love. The fast paced premise is enthralling and entertaining but Nicole’s true nature has yet to be revealed; the romance struggles in the face of secrets, lies , rejection and betrayal; the characters are numerous, energetic and magical. TO SAVE A MATE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been told.

Twisted by Emily McIntire – a Review

Twisted by Emily McIntire – a Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Apple / BAM / Book Depository

Description:
She’s his diamond in the rough. He’s her worst nightmare.

Yasmin Karam, daughter to one of the richest men in the world, has never known strife. So, when her beloved father falls ill, she’s determined to make his final days his happiest. His last wish? To see her married to a man of his choosing. Except Yasmin’s heart already belongs to someone else. A servant. A street rat. A man her father would never consider worthy. Stuck between a rock and a hard place, Yasmin strikes a desperate deal with her father’s right-hand man, Julian, not realizing he has his own twisted agenda.

Julian Faraci has one goal: become the most powerful man in the world. He’s built a future from broken bones and faded bruises, never caring who he hurt along the way. But when his mentor falls ill, he finds himself on the verge of losing everything, and he’ll stop at nothing to inherit what is rightfully his. Even if it means forcing a woman he can’t stand into marriage.

Yasmin is a brat who speaks out of turn, and he’s the villain of her story. But he decides she’ll be his—no matter what it takes to convince her.

Review:

Twisted by Emily McIntire is the 4th book in her Never After series.  I have not read the previous books, but this did read very well as a stand-alone. The Never After series are each standalone dark romances of fractured fairy tale reimagining stories; Twisted is based on Aladdin.

Yasmin, our heroine, is the daughter of one of the wealthiest men in the world, owning a renowned diamond building.  When her father falls ill, Yasmin is determined to make his final days his happiest; until she learns that he wants her to marry a man of his choosing.  Yasmin already has a boyfriend, who is a servant, and she knows her father will not accept him.

Julian Faraci is Ali’s (Yasmin’s father) loyal and ambitious right hand, who is determined to be the person who takes control of the company. At the start, Julian was the villain, as he was ruthless, arrogant and evil, who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Both Yasmine and Julian hate each other, since she thinks he is cold and mean and he thinks of her as a brat. When her father brings men to meet her, as possible marriage material, both Yas and Julian agree on a deal for them to get married, allowing her freedom and him to run the company.  But what Yas doesn’t know is that Julian has plans to kill her later on, and inherit the business.

Despite their dislike for each other, slowly things changed, with each of their feelings blossoming, and the sizzling chemistry between them.  This was a slow burn romance that took a while to change from enemies to lovers.  Julian found himself becoming more of a protector to Yas, and falling hard for her; as she did with him.  Yas was beautiful and independent and Julian was sexy, tense and captivating. Everything changed as we got to about the last third of the book, with Julian and Yas both very much in love. I ended up loving them together. Now Julian needed to protect his wife against the bad guys who he originally was with.

Twisted was a very exciting and steamy story, that was very well written by Emily McIntire. The secondary characters were very good, especially Yas’s best friend, Riya and Isabella, Julian’s 23-foot python.  Lol   I also loved the two epilogues.  If you like dark fairy tale re imagining stories, then I suggest you read the Never After series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 2, 2023

Welcome to Redwood University, where the creatures that go bump in the night really do exist… and they’re hiding in plain sight.

Attending a small college in the middle of nowhere was never my plan, but when I was offered free tuition and the promise of an excellent education, that plan changed.

It would’ve been nice to know I would be one of the only humans on campus.

It’d be even better if a certain bossy shifter didn’t claim me as his fated mate.

Alexei is arrogant, acrimonious, and the worst A-word of them all: an alpha.

But I can’t deny the way my body responds to him. No matter how many warning flags are waving around in my head, we gravitate toward one another. It’s primal. Passionate.

Painful.

Because regardless of what the fates think, or the supposed destiny we share… Alexei and I could never be.

So, if Alexei won’t reject our bond… I’ll have to do it for him.

REVIEW:TO REJECT A MATE is the first instalment in Poppy Ireland’s contemporary, new adult REDWOOD UNIVERSITY paranormal, romance trilogy focusing on heir to the Redwood Pack Alpha Alexei Koenig, and eighteen year old Nicole Fairweather.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Alexei and Nicole) TO REJECT A MATE focuses on eighteen year old Nicole Fairweather as she vows to pledge the Beta Phi sorority at Redwood University, the sorority of which her late mother was a member. When her father was offered a position in the genetics research labs at Redwood University, Nicole was disappointed in the face of not going to NYU. Free tuition, and room and board were her father’s selling points but within hours of arrival Nicole knew something wasn’t right about Redwood University. A truth spell would reveal the existence of the supernatural, and the crown prince was her fated mate but Alexei Koenig knew shifters were not allowed to mate with lowly humans, and Nicole found herself a target of the mean girls, bullies, and the man in charge. What ensues is the building but forbidden romance between Nicole and Alexei, and the fall-out when Nicole is targeted, and her father’s life hangs on the line.

Nicole Fairweather is human, or at least she thought she was human, but something more is slowly evolving. Looking into the truth about her past, Nicole will discover that she is the ‘something more’ and her powers are just coming into play when her life and the life of her father are threatened. Alexei Koenig has been prepared to take over the mantle of Alpha since he was a young boy but his brutal father sees him as nothing but a failure, a failure that will expose Nicole to the betrayal and cruelty of the beings at Redwood University.

The relationship between Nicole and Alexei is one of fated mates but a forbidden relationship as Nicole is believed to be a human, unworthy in the eyes of the Alpha Pack leader, a man who is willing to kill to protect the purity of the shifter species. Alexei Koenig knows immediately that Nicole Fairweather is his mate but from the outset Alexei struggles to push Nicole out of his heart and his mind but his inner wolf demands they claim Nicole as their own. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.

We are introduced to Nicole’s father Dr. David Fairweather; Redwood University president and Pack Alpha Jones Koenig and his ‘luna’ Anya; Alexei’s best friend and Beta Corbin, and his sister Mara, as well as witch Juniper, wolf Hunter, vampire Christian, and Nicole’s familiar Macey. The requisite evil, including bullies, mean girls, and malevolent adults, has many faces.

TO REJECT A MATE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, bullies and discrimination, speciesism and hatred, acceptance and loss. The premise is intriguing and action-packed; the romance is seductive and fated but struggles in the face of rejection; the characters are numerous, magical, and charismatic. TO REJECT A MATE ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW: Now, I’ve never read a ghost story as a romance, but I’m always open to new experiences.

Boo! Can You See Us? Is by a new author to me (Desy Smith), it’s a paranormal story. And It’s the first book from the Faeven Realm series.

Luna was adopted and raised in the human world. But she always knew she was different from other people…. She could communicate with ghosts, she could also help them travel to their final resting place….

In this book, Luna meets a spirit that wants her to help them find  the person who killed them! And when Luna agrees to help, she has no idea her life is about to change forever…..
The story is full of surprises for Luna, she also meets Cairo, who is not what he seems! She’s met him before, in her dreams! Cairo’s world was in danger, can Luna help him or become his enemy?

I don’t want to give too much away as it’s such a short story. But it doesn’t skimp on details or descriptions. The plot is simple but engrossing. What starts out with Luna in her world has us soon travelling to Faeven Realm. We meet characters that you become invested in. And the ending will take you by surprise!

A really good short story that I’d highly recommend.

Luna and her discovery of the ghost with wings has propelled her on an adventure she wasn’t prepared for, and it’s not over yet.

Luna will finally meet the one person responsible for her unenlightened predicament, and the secrets revealed will haunt her forever.

Will her naivety make her a pawn in this new realm?

Cairo’s world is changing before his eyes, and it’s all because of her.

Cairo is the king of all kings in his realm. Very little surprises him, but he lacks a skill that may take her away from him but also destroy the place he calls home.

REVIEW:I couldn’t wait to read book two in this wonderful story, again it’s another short story, but the author fills the pages with so much detail and goings on, that you forget it a short book.

You definitely need to read book two before climbing into this book. So I apologise if I give anything away (but no major spoilers) Cairo and Luna continue their journey into the Faeven Realm.

New additions to the characters include a parent that Luna thought she’d never meet…. But that meeting it’s smiles and sunshine! In fact it’s anything but Roses!

There is more going on in this book, and at times it did fill a little confusing! But it straightens itself out by the time you get to the end.

Luna and Cairo are really great characters, very likeable.

The writing is a little simple at times, but it’s also refreshing. I really did enjoy this book. And I hope we get to revisit this world and the characters again in the future.

Ultimately, this led her to writing stories of her own at just 10 years of age.
