ONE SHORT HARVEST by Nell Harding-a new release review

One Short Harvest by Nell Harding-a new release review

One Short Harvest by Nell Harding

ONE SHORT HARVEST is the second installment (May 2012 release) of Harding World of Romance, a series of short romantic stories from around the world. This exciting tale takes us to Burgundy, France.

Alexandre “Alex” Larousse is an arrogant, over confident, controlling Frenchman who has inherited the family business of winemaking. On his first season of taking over the winery, he offered Nadia a proposition to pose as his fiancée for the duration of two weeks during the vendanges or the grape harvest season; at the same time managing to avoid any unwanted match-making from his meddling enthusiastic family.

Nadia Fischer has found joy and freedom in her mini travel adventures. She is an intelligent, stubborn, and a fiercely loyal Canadian woman. She had arrived in France believing to work for Alex as grape-picker for the harvest. Little did she know that she will also be playing an important role in his private life.

In this short funny adventure, Nadia, who is always up for new experiences, thought that if she immersed herself with her new French associates, she will expand her knowledge of the French language. In addition to being in Burgundy and working for the Larousse, are the added benefits of learning its history, inspiring generations of family traditions…and the abundance of wine and delicious French cuisine (though she has an aversion to frog legs). When Alex offered her to stand as his fiancée in return for a fortnight stay in his family’s chateau and a vendanges experience, she agreed reluctantly. Recovering from a previous relationship that ended in disaster, Nadia is not looking for something serious that will tie her town. Though what will she do when her heart starts to pull her to Alex’s direction?

Alex is harboring a tiny secret of his own. Torn between freedom and duty, it has already cost him one beautiful lady. For that reason he now avoids any serious relationships preferring short-term-no-strings-attached to make their parting easier. So when his attraction for Nadia started to grow he felt threatened and he started to become distant.

Will Alex have a change of heart before the vendange season is over? Will Nadia have what it takes to transform a heart-harden Frenchman who has an out dated view of women and relationships? Will a ONE SHORT HARVEST be enough time to learn about compromising when dealing with matters of the heart?

I enjoyed reading this story. I also love that the author included how the French conducted their family dinners. Because in this reality, to have a true family dinner, comes only occasionally (for some of us at least). I also appreciate the hard work that’s been put into a traditional winery business. Make you think: ‘Right, so that explains it…’ Meaning the extravagant prices for some selected wines. So if you are finding yourself wanting a quick read. Pour yourself a red or white bubbly (juice if you prefer non-alcoholic) and lose yourself in this short adventure. The characters will keep you laughing and tenderly pulls your heart when you least expect it.

A rising contemporary author, Nell Harding, has already written her first book, FIRE AND ICE, in the Harding World of Romance series. She mainly writes light romantic stories that set in different places around the world. For the moment though her writing is slightly slowed down “now as another dream comes together in the form of a growing baby…”
Nell Harding: “My romance series, “Harding’s World of Romance”, hopes to bring readers to various romantic destinations to share some of my passion for new places and for happy endings.”

The Witness by Nora Roberts – a Review

The Witness by Nora Roberts – a Review

I have always been a fan of Nora Roberts.  She was one of my first adult authors I’ve ever read way back when.  After the university and all the work and studying was done Nora was the first author I turned too and got me back into reading for the joy of it.  So every time I pick up a Nora Roberts book it feels like going home to me and this book was no different.  I enjoyed The Witness from beginning to end.  It was a book that had me turning the page to see what would happen next.  I couldn’t put the book down and the flow of the story just sweeps you along. One of the things I like about Nora’s writing is her ability to intrigue the reader from the get go.  The way she introduces the main character and sets the backdrop of the story never fails to amaze me.  It gets me hooked from the first chapter and keeps me that way to the end, and always wanting more.  For me that’s the sign of a seasoned pro in the writing industry.

In The Witness, Nora sets the stage early.  She pulls you in with the main character Elizabeth Fitch, a.k.a Abigail Lowery, I’ll explain this a bit later, I promise.  😉  Elizabeth is a kid genius, born to a power hungry and driven to succeed parent.  Her life is basically dictated to her by her mother, the poor girl can’t do a thing without consulting her mother and the life schedule she’s created for the poor girl.  In doing so, her mother causes Elizabeth to grow up before her time, and do something no teenager should ever have to do.  Fight for her life to survive every day for the rest of her life.  Elizabeth rebels against her miserable life on one fateful weekend, and the events that unfold after are fast paced, suspenseful, and heartbreaking, with a bit of romance thrown in for good measure.  Nora leads the reader on a suspense filled romantic journey that doesn’t disappoint.

Elizabeth finally felt like she was a normal teenager, going shopping with a friend, using fake I.D.’s to get into a bar, dancing and kissing a cute boy, but never once realizing the danger she and her friend would be in.  After witnessing a murder by the Russian mob, Elizabeth manages to escape and make it to the cops, where she is placed into protective custody until they can get her into the witness protection program.  However, things don’t go as planned and thanks to some dirty cops, Elizabeth’s life is once again placed in danger. Once again Elizabeth finds herself on the run and her newest friends and protectors dead.

Fast-forward 12 years where we meet Abigail Lowery who is living a secluded life in the Ozarks and hiding out from the Russian mob.  Yes you guessed it, Miss Lowery is the very same Elizabeth Fitch who has been on the run these past 12 years, changing identities, jobs and leading a life that no one should have to live.   A life lived in fear that one day the mob will find her and do away with her to keep their secrets safe.  Living in fear and hiding, Abigail never dreamed of living a normal life, one where she wouldn’t always be looking over her shoulder.  However, things begin to change for her as she slowly starts to put down roots in the little town of Bicksford out in the Ozarks.

Enter police chief Brooks Gleason, who has recently returned home himself.  Being the ever observant police chief that he is, Brooks can’t help but notice Abigail’s secluded lifestyle and non-existent connections to Bickford’s residents and everyday goings on. Her lifestyle has not only peaked the interest of the police chief, but the residents as well.  It’s through Brooks’ pursuit of Abigail’s affections that we get to see more of what Abigail has lived through and her reluctance to never get close to another human being. Her only friend and constant companion is her guard dog Bert.  As we get a better look into Abigail’s life, one can’t help but feel heartbroken for the 16 year old girl who lost her teenage years to a horrible event, and then never really being able to live the way she wanted to live as an adult.  Brooks sees through her and realizes that something dangerous plagues Abigail’s life and is patient with her, allowing her the chance to come to terms with everything, trust another person and start to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Even though Abigail is strong, smart, skilled and quite capable of taking care of herself, she is also vulnerable and scared that one day her life will be cut short.  Thanks to Brooks and his ever steady, calm and patient personality Abigail opens up to him and tells him everything about her life.  Together they come up with a plan that will allow Elizabeth to get the justice she’s wanted all these years, put the past to rest and free her from her self-induced prison of a life.  As the events leading up to the ending unfold, we get to see classic Nora Roberts and are shocked by what happens.  It’s an ending that you don’t see coming, because Nora does a bang up job with it and it’s also a fitting ending to a story that has been filled with suspense, drama, humour, heartbreak and romance.

If you are a Nora Roberts fan then this is a must read.  If you aren’t already a fan of Nora, then this is an excellent book to introduce you to her writing and wonderful imagination and storytelling abilities.  It’s a story that will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what’s happening next, but at the same time enjoying the romance that Nora so skillfully weaves throughout the danger and mystery that surrounds our heroine Abigail Lowery, a.k.a Elizabeth Fitch.

Seduced by the Vampire King by Laura Kaye-a new release review

SEDUCED BY THE VAMPIRE KING by Laura Kaye

SEDUCED BY THE VAMPIRE KING is the second instalment and June 1, 2012 new release in Laura Kaye’s Vampire Warrior Kings series.

FROM THE WEBSITE: Seven remaining Vampire Warrior Kings battle the evil Soul Eaters in an ancient war that threatens their hearts, their lives and the very world we all share.

Kate Bordessa is an American exchange student. Fleeing to Russia to escape a possible future as the proffered virgin to a Vampire King, Kate can’t stop the feeling that there is someone or something missing in her life. And life indentured to a Vampire King was not a position she was willing to accept. But finding a bleeding and dying vampire in the shadows of a darkened alley in Moscow, tugged at a fierce protectiveness she had never known. Kate knew that the injured vampire was hers.

Nikolai Vasilyev is a Vampire Warrior King. Blaming himself for the death of his brothers, Nikolai pushes the limits of safety in the war against the Soul Eaters. But going in alone would only prove that Nikolai had become more reckless with time. Believing himself no longer worthy to wear a Warrior’s braids, Nikolai forgoes the jewels of his position, in mourning for the loss of his brothers. But a fatal miscalculation during battle with the unseen Soul Eaters leaves Nikolai alone and dying from multiple gun shot wounds that have caused more damage than he was able to heal.

Kate’s attraction to the wounded vampire is surprising. Her need to protect and save the male who lay dying at her feet seemed outlandish especially with the revelation that he was a vampire. She had fled to Russia to escape a life of servitude to a Vampire King, but his hunger and need for blood, overrode her instincts to survive. Giving freely of herself, Kate finds herself falling for the stranger who needed her more than anyone at that moment. But Nikolai’s friends would soon find the couple, and it is Kate’s surprising defense of their friend, that will result in her capture.

Nikolai has no idea what has happened. Likening to a dream, he remembers a beautiful woman with whom he has shared her blood. But when his best friend Mikhail reveals that the American woman had saved his life, Nikolai suspects that perhaps she is more than just his rescuer, but his mate. Hoping to meet Kate, Nikolai finds her imprisoned in the dungeons for a crime that she did not commit.

The attraction between the couple is immediate but Nikolai believes that he is not worthy of a mate. With the death of his brothers ingrained so deeply into his soul, Nikolai refuses to fall for the young woman. But Kate knows that she and Nikolai are destined. And when they give into their desires, the mating mark of the Vampire Warrior proves that the love of a woman is what he needed to forgive himself for the death of his friends.

SEDUCED BY THE VAMPRIE KING is another wonderful short story in the Vampire Warrior King series by Laura Kaye. Kate and Nikolai’s passion for each other will have you wanting your own Vampire Warrior King and Laura’s passion for her vampires shows through.

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh – a Review

Tangle of Need by Nalini Singh – a Review

Tangle of Need, which will be released tomorrow, is the 11th book in Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series. When I started this book, I was worried that it would be a letdown after reading Kiss of Snow.  I adored Hawke and Sienna.  But I have to say, Nalini does it again.  It is amazing how she continues the storyline flawlessly, as she brings in a new romantic couple.  Each book I read, I love Nalini Singh even more.  What a great series this is.

Tangle of Need belongs to Riaz and Adria, both wolves from Snow Dancer.  Yes, we stay with the wolves in this book.  We do get to see some of the Dark River leopards, but this book is mostly the Snow Dancers.

What I loved the most about this book, was that though we got to enjoy the romance between two dominant wolves in Riaz and Adria, we saw a lot of Hawke and Sienna.  It was so great to spend time with them after their mating ceremony in Kiss of Snow.  Love love them together.  We get to see Mercy and Riley and that was simply great; Lucas and Sascha, and even a funny scene with Faith.  Of course we get to spend time with Judd, who is such a wonderful character.  We also see so many other Snow Dancers, and this is something Nalini does very well.  She has great characters, and uses them so well.

Riaz is a Snow Dancer Lieutenant, who found his mate, only to find her married and in love with someone else.  This accounts for his belligerent attitude early on. Adria, who is Indigo’s aunt, is a top Snow Dancer soldier.  She broke up with her dominant other, and finds herself totally attracted to Riaz.  But Adria fights this, as she wants nothing to do with another dominant man, whom she feels she cannot trust.  So at the start, both do not like each other, and try to avoid any contact.  But suffice to say, that doesn’t happen and the two are drawn to each other, especially sexually.  There are difficult times ahead, but as they begin to enjoy their sexual encounters, and learn more about each other, things begin to change.  It is really nice to see how Adria totally understands the dilemma Riaz is in having met and been rejected by his true mate.  She becomes more sympathetic towards him, and also finds herself falling in love with him. Adria is willing to break her own heart, to allow Riaz to have his happy ending.  But Riaz, despite his inabilty to do the mating bond, finds himself torn, as he knows he has fallen in love with Adria. He must make choices, if he wants to fight to keep her.   This is really a very nice romance.

The story continues with the Human Alliance; the Psy Council fighting each other; more changelings packs trying to form alliances with Snow Dancer and Dark River; and the Pure Psy group, all trying to assume control.  Three main Psy characters had a bigger part in this story, Kaleb, Vasic and Aden.  I expect to see more of them, perhaps their own stories along the way.  Of course, the mystery continues as to who is the Ghost.  This part of the story with the Psy’s was exciting and we do learn a lot more, as Nalini slowly brings us along.  The ending was excellent, even to the last surprising page.  One of the things I love about Singh, is that she leaves a lot open for the future, and yet it is not a cliffhanger.  Well done.

This was such an enjoyable book, seeing our favorites, and with everything flawlessly falling into place.  Awesome book, awesome characters, awesome series, and an awesome author.  I can’t get enough of Nalini Singh and this wonderful series.

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore – a Review

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore – a Review

Bitterblue is the third book of Kristin Cashore’s Graceling Realm series.  Bitterblue picks up 8 years after the death of her father, the evil King Leck. Bitterblue is now at 18, the Queen of Monsea.  Though 8 years have passed since her rise to the throne, the people of Monsea are still recovering from the evil Kings 35 year reign of terror and horrific torture.  The story starts off with Bitterblue bogged down in paperwork, given to her by her trusted advisors.  She is tired and bored, and she yearns to know more about her country and what happens outside of her castle. But no one listens to her, and she has to stay under the protection of her advisors and guards.

Bitterblue discovers the library, and begins to read cryptic books about her mother and father.  She begins to question her advisors, who though they have been with her all her life, they keep avoiding talking about those horrible days.  Bitterblue starts to have strange feelings that something is being hidden from her.  She decides to explore more on her own, and in disguise, she sneaks out many nights to see what is happening in the towns near her.  Bitterblue discovers a pub that has storytellers, and they do talk about sordid details of King Leck’s reign, which opens her eyes to things she was not aware of, or cannot remember.

On one of the excursions, she meets two thieves, who in time become her friends, though they do not know she is the Queen of Monsea.  Saf, short for Sapphire, becomes more then just a friend, but he is reckless, and brings danger to her.  Listening to the stories about the bad days, and how they all perceive her as Queen, and learning things from her new friends, Bitterblue suspects that she is being lied to from her trusted advisors.

Working with her librarian, Death (spoken as Deeth), they look at all the old books, many of which Death is resurrecting, as his Grace is remembering everything he reads. She also begins to discover so many hidden rooms in the catacombs of the castle, that her father used for his dastardly deeds.  The amazing thing about this story, is how Cashore brings in puzzles, and so many, in different ciphers, & languages,  and making it so believable, though complex. As she begins to learn the truth, Bitterblue’s life becomes threatened, and she has to rely on old friends to keep her safe.  This is some of the best parts of the book, that we get to see a lot of Katsa, Po, Raffin, Giddeon, and Fire nearer to the end.  We also meet so many new and interesting characters, both good and bad….Helga, Fox, Hava, Saf, just to name a few.

The last 1/3 of the book is filled with surprises, twists, and mostly betrayal, as Bitterblue begins to find out the truth, hidden behind so many lies, even if it was meant to protect her.  Bitterblue has to rise above the pain from those discoveries, and be the Queen who must bring Monsea back from those terrifying years.  You can’t help but feel sorry for Bitterblue, as one after another she suffers from the knowledge of how deep the betrayals her within her own castle.

Overall, I thought Kristin Cashore wrote another great book in this series.  However, there was so much detail, complexity, not a lot of action, that I felt made this book, not quite as good as the first book Graceling, or even the prequel Fire.  But with that said, it is a writing of an excellent author.

BLAZING THE TRAIL (The Dragon Diaries YA #3) by Deborah Cooke-a new release review

BLAZING THE TRAIL (The Dragon Diaries YA #3) by Deborah Cooke

BLAZING THE TRAIL (The Dragon Diaries YA #3) by Deborah Cooke

BLAZING THE TRAIL is the third novel and June 2012 new release in Deborah Cooke’s Young Adult series-The Dragon Diaries. Zoe Sorensson is the only female dragon and Wyvern in a world of the shape-shifting supernatural, and must learn about her powers and abilities on the fly-literally. But when the 4 remaining shifter-lines are targeted for death by the Mage, Zoe and her friends must find a way to stop the Valentine’s Day ritual that could end all of their lives.

At the end of WINGING IT, Zoe and her friends had virtually destroyed the collective mind of the Mage. Without memory or purpose, the Mage numbers were dwindling. But those too young to be caught in the mind-sweep were banding together and targeting the remaining shifters-Dragon, Thunderbird, Wolf and Cat. With her powers as the Wyvern came dreams and pre-cognition of what may or may not happen. Without the guidance of the previous Wyvern, it is up to Zoe to decipher the messages that continue to haunt her nightly dreams. But a new dream ally will surface with both a weapon and advice that will aid Zoe with her fight to stay alive.

Knowing that the shifters are targeted by the Mage, an Alliance is formed between the remaining groups to help strengthen and combine their knowledge regarding their survival or demise. But the powerful spell-songs (of) and the use of the Nightblade by the Mage will trap more than one of Zoe’s friends and it will take the new-found powers of a young Wyvern to discern and break through the tangle of spell-light weaves. But it is the Shadoweaters (former Mage) who find the portal between their worlds that will place everyone in danger. With guilt weighing heavily, Zoe must tap into her dreams hoping to solve the puzzles and clues that will bring an end to the Mage and the Shadoweaters that many will become. And it is the revelation as to the origins of the Shadoweaters that will have you scratching your head wondering if the Mage have any concept as to the evil that will eventually take hold and destroy.

Many of Zoe’s allies and friends return. Meagan, her BFF and Mage is learning the power of spell-song; Derek the shy and quiet wolf-shifter who is hoping for more than friendship; Kohana the Thunderbird and sometime friend; Jessica and her new-found abilities; and Jared-Mage and Zoe’s long time crush. Fellow Dragon-shifters Nick, Garret and Liam are called in to aid and protect Zoe. And we will see the development of a couple of potential relationships between the young dragons and some of the other supernatural friends.

The return of Jared will force Zoe to make a choice between two friends, but it is Jared who will sacrifice more than his friendship to save the life of someone he has grown to love. Kohana is still an enigma. Like Zoe, the reader is unsure as to his true purpose until the death of a friend will find the Thunderbird paying back a debt owed to the young Wyvern.

BLAZING THE TRAIL is another fantastic addition to Deborah Cooke’s Dragon Diaries series. As a lover of all things dragon, my only complaint-we didn’t see enough of the young Pyr. Blazing The Trail focuses more on the Mage and the other shape-shifters. I also liked the fact that Deborah does not concentrate on the typical teen love-triangle. Although there is the potential, it was not the center of the story. Many YA authors tend to write a series around a trio of friends who will inevitably come to odds with regards to relationships and love. Deborah allows the story to develop, but keeps the angst-filled relationships on the periphery. Blazing The Trail is a wonderful story from a great author.

GUARDIAN’S GRACE by Jacqueline Rhoades-a new release review

GUARDIAN’S GRACE by Jacqueline Rhoades

Release Date: May 13, 2012

Grace has never felt that she belonged. Abandoned as a young child, trying to survive in the foster care system Grace had always known she was different. If it weren’t for the continuous ‘buzzing’ in her head, maybe she would have felt ‘normal’. And when she is able to see ‘things’ that no one else was seeing, was she losing her mind or could she truly see what others could not? But the attack on a friend at the hands of demons and a rescue by 2 god-like angels (with fangs?), leave Grace reeling with the knowledge, that perhaps there is more than meets the eyes.

Twins Dov and Col are descendants of Nephilium-not yet Guardians but on patrol for demons. But when one human female has the ability to ‘see’, they know they must bring her to The House and High Lord Liege Canaan will not be too pleased. But it is Canaan who is stunned by the presence of Grace and with that, the knowledge that she would soon be his.

The Guardians are of the Race, with superior strength and speed, descended from Gabriel who are on earth to protect the humans and guard the portal, ensuring the demons do not cross the barrier. When a Guardian dies and his heart still remains within his chest, he is changed into vampire, and must be destroyed before the blood rage consumes. But we soon meet Uncle Otto, and learn that not all vampires are evil, and once they learn to control their blood rages, even vampires can love.

But demons have crossed the portal and are now are on a feeding frenzy of human flesh. Hoping to gain control of the local drug and alcohol trade, the demons continue to gorge on the blood of their victims, while the Guardians fight to save one of their own. A ‘witch’ has come into her powers and through sacrifice and blood she has unleashed a demon upon the earth, that only the Guardians will be able to control.

There are many humorous passages involving Dov and Col. Like two highly charged puppies with a new found friend, the twins wreak havoc ensuring Grace feels accepted and loved at The House. Their mischievous antics keep the mood light, when anger and sorrow seem to engulf on occasion. Uncle Otto is a genuine flirt, who falls in love with Grace, but he has eyes for another from his past. Nico hides a past that is reflected with the scars both inside and out, but it is the relationship between Canaan and Grace that drives The House forward and into the future. As a Daughter of Man, Grace has the power to save where others have failed.

There are moments that will break your heart and the tears will flow. When a Guardian is chosen, his heart will blossom and when a mated-pair have bonded, a red rose will bloom. Guardian’s Grace is a wonderful novel for first-time author Jacqueline Rhoades. I look forward to her next storyline-Guardian’s Hope.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth – a Review

Insurgent by Veronica Roth – a Review

“Insurgent” by Veronica Roth is the second book in her Divergent Trilogy.  I loved the first book in this series Divergent, and expected this book to be good, but was totally surprised to find Insurgent to be even better.  Kudos to Veronica Roth, who takes us right from the start on a non stop journey that does not end with this book.  In Insurgent, Roth seamlessly brings us into the action right away, as if you were still reading Dviergent, and it flows beautifully.

To give you a refresher, this story takes place in Chicago in the future.  There are five factions, which each person is born into.  Abnegation: being selfless. Amity: peace and love. Candor: honesty. Dauntless: courage. Erudite: knowledge. Each of these factions consists of different professions, different clothes, and different lifestyles. Abnegation is the political arm of all the factions, as they are considered selfless, and less likely to be corrupted by power. Dauntless protects the borders of the city.  Erudite, being intelligent, wants the power of Abnegation and this will be a major focus of this story later in the book.  Our heroine Tris, and hero Tobias (or Four) have escaped from their faction, Dauntless, after stopping an Erudite created simulation that brainwashed the Dauntless to kill the Abnegation faction.

Now begins Insurgent, with Tris unable to cope with guilt of killing her friend, even though he would have killed her, as he was under the simulation to kill.  It was kill or be killed for Tris.   They with other survivors come to Amity for sanctuary, only to be forced to leave, as the Erudites & Dauntless traitors are coming after them, especially for all those that are Divergents.  We know from the first book, that Tris and Tobias are Divergents, as are others whom we meet in this book.  We get to meet the factionless, whom are more then anyone expected, and they are run by Tobias’s mother.  The Factionless are the key to defeating the Erudites, as their members were those tossed away by all the other factions, and their numbers are now bigger then the other factions. They will team with the loyal Dauntless to fight this war of survival.

Jeanine Matthews is still the villain in this book, but Roth brings in so many new characters….friends, enemies, family, and betrayers.  Though at times you might get confused who is on whose side, Roth does a good job giving us a better insight into these really good characters.  We learn so much more about these characters, such as Peter, Christina, Caleb, Tori, Uriah and so much more.

Tris is a great heroine, as she is tough, vulnerable, strong and still has her own flaws, but you are on her side all the way through, especially when she willingly offers her life to save others.  Tobias is perfect for her, as he is truly a leader, who I expect to come on his own, when this is over.  They love each other, but they know that now is not the time, as they have a war to fight.   But we do get to watch them discover more about each other, even to the misunderstandings.  Very well done.

Insurgent was very exciting from start to finish; total action, suspense and so tense at times.   This book totally blew me away, as I could not put this book down, nor could you even attempt to skip anything in fear you would miss the many revelations.   This has to be one of the best second books of a series that I have ever read. Totally awesome.   The plot, the constant surprises, the betrayals, and twists, and though this has some romantic undertones with Tris and Tobias, it is not a romance story.  It is considered YA dystopian, but it is not YA only, as this book is all adult; with the violence, the intensity, the danger, not to mention the complexity.

The wild ending was a cliffhanger, and most of you know I hate cliffhangers.  But this was done so very well by Roth, totally amazing, and you will be thinking of this for the next year….until the third and final book comes out.  Bravo to Veronica Roth for her ability to create this world and write such a fascinating story that will not let you go.  If you have not read this series, I urge you to buy Divergent and Insurgent now, since if I have to rate this book,.. I give it 5 stars.
