ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 12, 2019

Her. Me. Handcuffs. You think you know what we’re up to, don’t you?

I’m Archer.
I’ve been in trouble plenty but I got these bad boys from home.
Emily looks so good handcuffed to me.
This is the only way I could think to stop her.
She found out her mom was in danger and she ran away.
She wants to save her, but we’re at war.
Her brother, my best friend, told me I have to keep her safe.
He trusts me.
Unlike every woman I’ve ever met.
Maybe it’s because I don’t kiss. On the mouth anyway.
But Emily’s the only woman who’s ever stood up to me.
Her thighs keep grazing mine. Her long brown hair tickling my bicep.
Locking her to me and throwing away the key.
I didn’t think this through…

This really revs my engine.

REVIEW:HER HOT RIDE is the third instalment in Heather Van Fleet’s contemporary, adult RED DRAGON MC erotic, MC romance series focusing on the Red Dragon MC. This is Red Dragon MC vice president Archer Benedict, and middle school science teacher Emily Lincoln’s story line. HER HOT RIDE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory as it pertains to Emily, and her connection to the Red Dragon MC.

NOTE: HER HOT RIDE contains scenes of violence that may not be suitable for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives ( Emily and Archer) HER HOT RIDE follows the acrimonious relationship between Red Dragon MC vice president Archer Benedict, and middle school science teacher Emily Lincoln. Emily Lincoln is the sister of Red Dragon member Niyol ‘Hawk’ Lattimore, and daughter of former Red Dragon gone rogue Charles Lattimore and Lisa Lincoln but Emily’s life is in danger, and the Red Dragon MC is reluctantly protecting Emily in the face of Charles and Lisa’s betrayal. Her only option is to escape but Emily finds herself on the run with club VP Archer Benedict, as she battles between head and heart hoping to rescue her mother from her father’s wrath. What ensues is the cross country journey and building relationship between Emily and Archer, and the potential fall-out as betrayal and lies threaten to destroy Emily and everyone she loves.

Archer Benedict doesn’t do relationships and struggles with his attraction to a woman who despises everything about the MC lifestyle but Emily Lincoln is considered an enemy and a threat since the disappearance and betrayal of her mother Lisa Lincoln. Emily has been blinded by her mother’s desperate attempts to bring together their dysfunctional family. Believing her mother is trapped in an abusive relationship, Emily makes it her mission to rescue a woman who doesn’t want to be rescued, at all. But for all intents and purposes, Emily is a little bit TSTL (too stupid to live) knowing she is placing herself and everyone in danger in an effort to rescue a woman who has betrayed everyone she knows.

The relationship between Archer and Emily is tempestuous and acerbic. Archer is constantly making digs and sexual innuendo yet battles his attraction to a woman who is hoping for something more. Emily knows that to get involved with a member of the Red Dragon’s MC mean her life will no longer be her own but life on the run with Archer Benedict has opened her eyes to the possibility of her own happily ever after. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

We are reintroduced to Summer Parks, and Niyol ‘Hawk’ Lattimore (Her Wild Ride #1), Sebastian ‘Slade’ Lattimore, and tattoo artist Maya Davenport (Her Rough Ride #2); Lisa Lincoln and Charles ‘Pops’ Lattimore, as well as Red Dragon Members Flick, Chop, and the introduction of Angel and Anne.

The world building continues to focus on the dangerous and destructive life of the Red Dragon MC. Secrets and lies, betrayal and revenge are but a small part daily their daily struggles not including rivals MC, or threats from other sources.

HER HOT RIDE is a story of family and blood; betrayal and vengeance; acceptance and love. The character driven premise is raw and gritty; the characters are energetic and colorful; the romance is hot, spicy and heavy. HER HOT RIDE is an engaging and gripping look inside the lives of the Red Dragon MC.

•••••••

REVIEW: I’ve read all the books in this series. Bijorn was in a spin off series (Angels of the Dark) and I’ve been wondering if he’d ever get a book.

Fox has been in a few books too. And I’ve never really taken to her, (she seemed very cold and standoffish) but once I read why she was that way, the story had me liking her more.

The story has us visiting Fox not long after she kills innocents (“sent ones” who are angels) she is then attacked by Bijorn (he’s been sent to dispense justice after she’d killed the “sent ones”) captured and taken to his home, there she is thrown into a dungeon, to await her fate.

Back story on Bijorn ….. he’s an angel, (what class?) he’s an assassin?
He was captured a while back and tortured alongside his best friends (Thane and Xerxes) it changed his character. No longer the happy man his friends knew, but years together the three men have an unbreakable bond. And it helped to keep Bijorn grounded. Oh and he was a “wife”!! But it’s not a happy marriage, it’s a very one sided and poisonous one!!

Backstory on Fox ….. adopted “daughter” to Galen the keeper of both false hope and jealousy, she “houses” the demon Distrust. The constant nagging in her head (the demon tells her she not worthy, to kill anyone first, that way they can’t kill her. To always be distrustful of others) orphaned are a very early age, Fox has had to survive the best way she can. She’s also a Gatekeeper (she can create portals) a rare and dying breed, so she keeps that bit of information to herself. A skilled warrior and assassin, every bit as lethal as her title “The Executioner”

It’s a short story, so we don’t have time for Fox and Bijorn to have a slow relationship.
The trust between these two is slow in coming, he wonders when she will try to kill him, she wonders when she can escape. Bijorn is also told by his superiors that Fox has to die for her crimes (which he’s finding harder and harder to do) But after several incidents a tentative alliance is formed. Both fight their attraction to one another, but realise that together they are stronger. But one mistaken moment, and they are back to square one.

The story gives us more info on William (his book is next and widely anticipated) and the fight between lucifer and the Lords of the Underworld. It seems to be coming to a climax, so I have to wonder if the series is coming to an end?

I have to say, I liked this book, I would have loved a longer story. Liked how we go to catch up with old characters (would have liked interaction with a few Lords)

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 10, 2019

Every great dream begins with a dreamer…

Sebastian Shark is on the verge of realizing his dream. The Edge—the most luxurious Los Angeles skyscraper ever conceived—will be his legacy, an icon to dominate LA’s skyline just as Shark dominates its boardrooms.

Self-made businesswoman Abbigail Gibson is on a trajectory toward massive success, but to get there, she must navigate the egos of her demanding clients—particularly the driven and obstinate Shark, who possesses the special talent of aggravating and arousing her within the same breath.

They are a collision of chemistry, but is their potent attraction toward each other worth losing sight of their ultimate goals? Taking a bite of passion has never carried more risk—or promised sweeter reward.

Fate has other ideas, however, as Sebastian is targeted by unknown enemies and Abbi is caught in the fray. Will the danger draw them closer or drive them apart?

•••••••••

REVIEW:SHARK’S EDGE is the first instalment in the contemporary, adult, SHARK’S erotic, romantic suspense series co-authored by Angel Payne and Victoria Blue focusing on billionaire real-estate developer Sebastian Shark, and twenty-two year old, caterer Abbigail ‘Abbi’ Gibson.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sebastian and Abbi) SHARK’S EDGE follows the building relationship between billionaire real-estate developer Sebastian Shark, and caterer Abbigail ‘Abbi’ Gibson. Sebastian Shark is working on the biggest deal of his life but finds himself distracted by professional caterer Abbigail ‘Abbi’ Gibson, a woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. A dominant by nature who doesn’t do relationship preferring to pay for the use of a woman’s body, Sebastian makes Abbi an offer she struggles to refuse…but not all is well in Sebastian Shark’s well-ordered world when he becomes the target of someone desperate to destroy his business and his life. What ensues is the building but petulant and caustic relationship between Abbi and Sebastian, and the potential fall-out as there may be more than one player determined to take down Sebastian Shark.

Sebastian Shark knows a thing or two about dominating both in and out the boardroom. From business to pleasure, Sebastian is all about sealing the deal using contracts, NDAs and closed door tactics but for months Sebastian has battled his attraction to business woman and caterer Abbi Gibson, a woman who has no place in Sebastian’s world of power and control. Abbi Gibson finds herself attracted to a man who is way out of her league but Sebastian is desperate to keep Abbi under his control realizing there is more than one man hoping to make Abbi his own.

The relationship between Abbi and Sebastian is one of mutual attraction but Sebastian currently holds all of the power in their ‘non-relationship’. Sebastian doesn’t do romance or love but battles between head and heart as it pertains to his feelings about our story line heroine. When more than one man shows interest in our story line heroine, Sebastian struggles to keep himself under control. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense but I have issues with the use of a certain four-letter word in my ‘romance’ story lines.

We are introduced to Sebastian’s PA Terryn; his best friend Grant Twombley; Abbi’s business partner Rio, and businessman Viktor Blake. Grant and Rio’s story commences with Grant’s Heat, Shark’s #4 beginning in May 2020.

SHARK’S EDGE introduces the players and characters who will play pivotal roles in both Sebastian and Abbi’s life. Someone is determined to destroy Sebastian Shark using any means possible including murder and blackmail, one body at a time. The premise is dramatic, engaging, fast paced and captivating; the characters are colorful, energetic and seductive; the romance (or non-romance) is steamy and provocative. Payne and Blue reveal just enough clues to start building the suspense between Sebastian Shark and those trying to take him down. SHARK’S EDGE ends on a cliff-hanger, you have been warned.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 10, 2019

When the wedding of your dreams is just around the corner, everything needs to go as planned. Only problem is, the groom didn’t get the memo.

Aaron forgot the rings, and Lia is determined to make the long drive home to get them in time for their “I do’s.”

But there’s a catch. There always is with Aaron, isn’t there?

Aaron is too hungover to come, and sends a replacement.

The best man.

Miles Foster. The cocky, arrogant, sexy best man…and the last person Lia wants to be trapped in a car with for hours.

But Aaron insists, and Lia wonders if there’s another reason Aaron wants Miles tagging along—aside from sticking her with a hot, surly babysitter.

Yet how bad can it be? It’ll be over before she knows it, and she’ll never see him again. Just like in college.

But when secrets are revealed, and Lia’s whole world is turned upside down, she realizes she’s been living a lie—and so has her groom.

Miles is supposed to be the best man at her wedding.

But what if he is simply the best man she has ever known? The best man for her?

•••••••

REVIEW:BEST MAN by Katy Evans is a contemporary, adult erotic, romance stand alone story focusing on Miles Foster and Dahlia ‘Lia’ Ridley.

Told from first person perspective (Lia) using present day and memories from the past BEST MAN follows Dahlia ‘Lia’ Ridley on the eve of her wedding to Aaron Eberhart. Having forgotten the wedding bands, Lia along with best man Miles Foster, make the five hour drive home where memories from the past threaten Lia’s tentative hold on her love for Aaron Eberhart. What ensues is the back and forth, yin and yang between Miles and Lia, as our couple struggles with a mutual attraction birthed six years earlier following a one-night stand that neither one has ever forgotten.

Six years earlier Miles fell in love with Lia Ridley but our hero ghosted Lia the next morning and in the ensuing weeks, Lia met and fell in love with Miles best friend Aaron. Fast forward to present day wherein Miles finds himself struggling with his attraction to his best friend’s fiancée, an attraction that has manifested as hatred and anger. A snow storm will strand Miles and Lia where hurtful words and old feelings will force Lia to reconsider what and who she wants in her life.

The relationship between Miles and Lia is acrimonious and caustic. Miles is desperate to hide his attraction to Lia Ridley, believing she is making a terrible mistake marrying a man who is unable to love anyone but himself. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.

We are introduced to Lia’s fiancé Aaron Eberhart, her best friend Eva, as well as Lia’s understanding parents. Aaron Eberhart is a piece of work.

BEST MAN is a story of secrets and lies; unrequited love and attraction; revelations, honesty, love and second chances. The premise is engaging and enchanting; the characters are colorful, energetic and charismatic; the romance is seductive and fated. BEST MAN has a little bit of heartbreak and angst in the face of one woman’s desire for her own happily ever after.

The dress is a strapless Carolina Herrera, with layers and layers of whisper-thin organza. It blows my budget and the “less is more” mantra out of the water, but like Eva said the day we bought it in downtown Denver, when you know, you know. The locale is the sumptuous Midnight Lodge, nestled in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, every tiny detail of the place costing my father more than an entire year of his salary. The twenty-three members of the bridal party are assembled. It’s the scene of every little girl’s fairytale fantasy.
My fantasy.
At least, the one I’d been harboring up until today, when everything changed.
Eva smiles at me. “Ready to make your dreams come true?”
I stare at myself in the mirror. I look like Cinderella, if the wicked stepmother had just materialized at the castle on Cinderella’s wedding day and gunned down Prince Charming in cold blood. I’m also about three minutes away from losing the mimosa I’d polished off earlier that morning at breakneck speed. I go to chew on my nails but then I remember Eva painted them, and the last thing I want is for him to see the chips.
He notices things like that. He’s an observer.
And I want to be perfect for him.
Him.
The wrong him.
Oh, god.
I go to chew on my lip, but I can’t do that because they’ve been lacquered with bubble-gum pink gloss, and he’d probably notice if I got it on my teeth, too. All my normal ways of freaking out are off limits.
This is the day of my dreams, the day I’ve planned to the letter, just so I could avoid any potential calamities that might make me freak out.
But I am freaking out. Oh, lordy, am I ever.
I’ve been waiting my whole life for this day.
This perfect day, where the sun is shining, the snow is melting, birds are singing, and the sky is the deepest blue I’ve ever seen.
But there’s a problem.
A problem in the form of a pretentious, bearded, six-foot-three wall of hot man flesh who stalks around hating the world and thinking he’s better than everyone in it.
My fiancé’s best friend. The best man, Miles Foster.
This is all his fault.
“You okay?” Eva asks.
“I am,” I insist, pushing the infernal veil out of my face for the thousandth time. “This dress is itchy as hell.”
I stand and pluck the dress up under my armpits, hoisting it over my boobs. I try to take a step but…too much fabric, in all directions. It’s a wonder I don’t drown in this sea. In this sea, or in this mess I’ve created for myself. I sit back down on the vanity stool and pout. “I’m stuck.”
In more ways than one.
She gathers handfuls of too much organza and helps me up, depositing the pile of fabric safely in my wake. I shuffle to the full-length mirror and glance at myself. I don’t look like a bride, or even a fairytale princess. I look like a prisoner who just got her death sentence.
“It’s too loose,” I whine. I never had much of a rack, and now it’s super obvious. Why did I decide to go strapless again? “I think I must’ve lost some boobage during my diet. What if the top of my dress falls down while I’m walking up the aisle?”
Eva smirks. “I’m sure Aaron’ll love the show.”
The thought makes the mimosa turn in my stomach. I used to live for what Aaron thought. Whenever I had a choice to make on something, be it a new movie coming out, or a sweater at the mall, or a new hair style, I’d think, Would Aaron like this? But I realize, as she says his name, that it doesn’t matter to me in the slightest what Aaron thinks. The only opinion I care about now is that of the man who will be standing precisely two feet to my husband-to-be’s left.
I am such an idiot.
In less than fifteen minutes, I will be marching down the stone steps outside the Midnight Lodge to a picturesque gazebo at the foot of the hills, on the arm of my father, who has socked his entire life’s savings into making this day picture perfect for his only daughter. I will take the hand of the man I’ve been attached at the hip to for over five years, ever since I met him in a dank frat cellar when I was a wide-eyed little college freshman. I will join with this man—this man I’ve spent all of my adult life with—in holy matrimony, ’til death us do part.
I will become Mrs. Aaron Eberhart.
But I know I’ll be looking past my husband-to-be to the man who, up until twelve hours ago, I’d thought I hated. Miles Foster.
And I will be wondering What if…
I wish choosing a husband was as simple as choosing a dress.
When you know, you know.
I did know, or I thought I did. Up until twelve hours ago, I thought Aaron Eberhart was my true soul mate, the one I’d happily spend the rest of my life with. That’s when things took an unexpected turn.
Right now? I don’t even know my own name.
And I have a feeling I might be making a huge mistake.

REVIEW: OFF LIMITS is the fifth instalment in Penny Dee’s contemporary, adult KINGS OF MAYHEM erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the members of the Kings of Mayhem MC. Told from dual first person perspectives (Ruger and Chastity) OFF LIMITS follows the forbidden relationship between thirty-nine year old, Kings of Mayhem Sargent at Arms Ruger La Montagne, and twenty-three year old, college student Chastity Calley. Chastity Calley grew up in the world of the MC but the Kings of Mayhem president, Michael ‘Bull’ Western was overprotective to a fault since the death of her father years before. With her return from California, and enrolment in the local college, Chastity found herself homeless when a water pipe broke destroying everything she owned. With no place to live Ruger La Montagne offered Chastity a room, placing Chastity’s life-long crush within feet of her heart. What ensues is the building but forbidden relationship between Chastity and Ruger, and the potential fall-out when their relationship is exposed, and a new player in town takes out his revenge on the Kings of Mayhem MC.

Kings of Mayhem President Bull Western raised Chastity as one of his own but Bull had made it perfectly clear that Chastity was off limits to everyone including the brothers of his own MC. Ruger La Montagne knew starting a relationship with Chastity was tantamount to suicide but their attraction to one another was palpable and hot. When Ruger’s past comes looking for a second chance, Ruger struggles in the knowledge that he was about to destroy Chastity’s heart but made her a promise that she was the only woman he would ever love.

The relationship between Ruger and Chastity is a forbidden romance. Keeping their romance secret was about to blow up in their face but Ruger knew that Chastity was the woman he loved even if it meant walking away from the only life he ever known. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples. Club president Bull Western battles between head and heart when he discovers that his best friend is secretly in love with the young woman he considers off –limits to everyone and more. We are introduced to Gimmel Martel, a rich drug dealer with connections to the Saljav cartel.

She has everything money can buy, but her bodyguard is all she wants—and together they’re exactly what each other needs in this heart-racing romance by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of Call Her Mine.

Actress Remi Divine is sick of bodyguards, sick of stalkers, and sick of feeling like she is always under a microscope. But this movie star isn’t helpless by any means. She’s got a rebellious streak, and she knows how to use it. First order of business: getting rid of the overbearing bodyguards who are sticking to her like glue.

Mason Swift has made protecting others his life, and when Remi ditches his two best men, he takes over and gives it everything he has. Having grown up in the foster-care system, and as a former special operative, he knows all the tricks. Nothing gets by him, especially not gorgeous, sneaky Remi.

REVIEW: THIS IS LOVE is the second instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult HARMONY POINTE erotic, romance series-a spin off from the author’s Sugar Lake series . This is former Special Forces soldier and security specialist Mason Swift, and actress Remi Divine’s storyline. THIS IS LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Mason and Remi) THIS IS LOVE focuses on the protection of actress Remi Divine. Remi Divine has a stalker whose threats are getting more dangerous and personal. While filming in Harmony Pointe, New York, Remi is assigned security that she continuously refuses to obey or accept. Enter former Special Forces soldier and security specialist Mason Swift, the man with whom Remi will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Remi and Mason, and the potential fall-out as the stalker appears to be closer than anyone could have imagined.

Remi’s brother Aiden raised his younger sister since the accident that claimed the life of their parents but Aiden wasn’t taking any chances with his sister’s safety and called in a favor from Ben Dalton, and his business partner Mason Swift. Remi Divine wanted nothing to do with bodyguards or protection but our heroine would soon discover that life isn’t all roses and puppies especially when her crazed fans begin to get too close. Mason Swift knows to fall for his client could end his career in personal security but when his men are unable to contain the likes of Remi Divine, Mason steps up to take over Remi’s personal protection.

The relationship between Remi and Mason is one of immediate attraction but Remi continues to struggle with the security that is constantly in her face. When threats become personal including images of Remi and Mason together, Remi begins to realize that all is not well in her hectic world. At times, Remi’s attitude bordered on childish and rude , and it would take an act of aggression to show our heroine the reality of the danger into which she has been pulled. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including several characters from the author’s Sugar Lake Series, as well as Ben Dalton and Aurelia Stark (Call Her Mine #1), Ben’s business partner and Remi’s brother Aiden Aldridge, and numerous crew members and actors associated with Remi Divine.

THIS IS LOVE is a story of obsession and anger; betrayal and revenge; family, friendship, romance and love. The premise is intriguing, captivating and engaging; the romance is steamy and seductive; the characters are numerous, energetic, fun and flirty. THIS IS LOVE is another wonderful addition to Melissa Foster’s HARMONY POINTE and the numerous inter-connected series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 5, 2019

Dex Colton has had enough. Being a Marine no longer on active duty and in desperate need of job was one thing. Living in a new city and working for his estranged family is another. But his brother about to marry his ex girlfriend? At Christmas, the very worst time of the year? Hell no. The only gift he wants right now is for the world to leave him alone. Until the day he visits a hole in the wall bar and sees… her.

It took more courage than she thought possible, but Hattie Sutton finally left behind a career she never wanted, and parents intent on squashing her every dream. Now she’s in a brand new city, with a cute apartment and her dream job as a graphic designer. Absolutely nothing is going to distract her from her new path… certainly not the sexiest man-mountain she’d ever laid eyes on. Or one sizzling hot night in his arms.

Both are sure they’ll never see each other again. But neither factored in a little Christmas magic… or the meddling Colton family…

Spark is a sexy Christmas novella.

REVIEW:SPARK is the latest novella (3.5) in Sherilee Gray’s contemporary, adult BOOSTED HEARTS erotic, romance series. This is former Marine/auto mechanic Dex Colton, and former attorney/interior designer Hattie Sutton’s story line. SPARK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty .Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Hattie and Dex) SPARK follows the building relationship between former Marine/auto mechanic Dex Colton, and former attorney/interior designer Hattie Sutton. Hattie Sutton left her old life in Phoenix behind, tired of her parents controlling every aspect of her life. Starting anew in Los Angeles as a business partner in a local graphic design firm, our heroine has no desire to tie herself down to one man including the man with whom she will fall in love. Enter former Marine, and mechanic Dex Colton. What ensues is the building but back and forth relationship between Hattie and Dex, and the potential fall-out as Hattie refuses to settle in the wake of Dex’s proclamation of love.

The relationship between Dex and Hattie begins as an almost one-night stand, almost because Hattie is a bit of a runner when things begin to overwhelm. Several times our heroine ‘runs’ at the first sign of ‘something more’ including Dex’s declaration of love. Dex Colton, on the other hand, knows first hand the heart break and pain of betrayal, rejection and loss. Willing to test the waters of his own happily ever after, our hero quickly learns that the woman with whom he has fallen in love isn’t willing to give love a chance. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters. We are reintroduced to Hugh and Shay (Swerve #1), Joe and Darcey (Spin #2), Adam and Lucy (Spin #3), as well as Dex’s brother Zane, and his ex-girlfriend Chloe.

SPARK is a quick read; a fast paced novella focusing on one woman’s desire to be independent under any circumstance, and one man’s struggle to find love and his own happily ever after. The premise is entertaining; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is heavy and hot but I struggled with Hattie’s continuous need to run every time Dex attempts a more serious relationship.

Morgan Grant and her sixteen-year-old daughter, Clara, would like nothing more than to be nothing alike.

Morgan is determined to prevent her daughter from making the same mistakes she did. By getting pregnant and married way too young, Morgan put her own dreams on hold. Clara doesn’t want to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Her predictable mother doesn’t have a spontaneous bone in her body.

With warring personalities and conflicting goals, Morgan and Clara find it increasingly difficult to coexist. The only person who can bring peace to the household is Chris—Morgan’s husband, Clara’s father, and the family anchor. But that peace is shattered when Chris is involved in a tragic and questionable accident. The heartbreaking and long-lasting consequences will reach far beyond just Morgan and Clara.

While struggling to rebuild everything that crashed around them, Morgan finds comfort in the last person she expects to, and Clara turns to the one boy she’s been forbidden to see. With each passing day, new secrets, resentment, and misunderstandings make mother and daughter fall further apart. So far apart, it might be impossible for them to ever fall back together.

REVIEW: REGRETTING YOU by Colleen Hoover is a contemporary, YA to adult, stand alone multi-genre story line focusing on thirty-four year old, Morgan Grant and her sixteen year old daughter Clara.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Morgan and Clara) using present day and memories from the past, REGRETTING YOU follows the struggling relationship between Morgan Grant and her sixteen year old daughter Clara. A tragic accident will claim the life of Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father Chris, an accident that will destroy not only the life of Morgan and Clara, but of Chris’ best friend Jonah Sullivan. Secrets will begin to unravel revealing years of betrayal and lies forcing Morgan, Clara and Jonah to wonder if everything about their lives were a lie.

Like all teenagers, Clara struggles in the aftermath of her father’s tragic accident, and takes her frustration and anger out on her mother but unbeknownst to Clara there is more going on behind the scenes than anyone could have imagined. Morgan Grant battles between head and heart in the months following her husband’s death. Life goes on but guilt and the overwhelming knowledge of betrayal and deception force Morgan to step back and reconsider where everyone goes, from here.

REGRETTING YOU follows three separate paths that intersect and converge: we follow sixteen year old Clara as she discovers first love; Morgan Grant as she discovers the truth; and a mother-daughter relationship that implodes in the aftermath of death, and the ultimate betrayal.

The cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters include Chris Grant’s best friend Jonah Sullivan; Morgan’s sister Jenny; Clara’s boyfriend Miller Adams, and her best friend Lexie.

REGRETTING YOU is a story of betrayal, secrets and lies; of revelations, heartbreak and grief; of second chances, acceptance and moving forward. Colleen Hoover pulls the reader into a captivating and intense story of family, friendship, and the true meaning of love. The premise is raw, real and edgy; the characters are passionate and angry. A tragic story of love, loss and lies, REGRETTING YOU is a story you won’t soon forget.

Despite knowing I just pissed my mother off by being half an hour late for curfew, I still can’t stop smiling. That kiss with Miller was worth it. I bring my fingers to my lips.I’ve never been kissed like that. The guys I’ve kissed in the past all seemed like they were in a hurry, wanting to shove their tongue in my mouth before I changed my mind.

Miller was the opposite. He was so patient, yet in a chaotic way. It was like he’d thought about kissing me so often that he wanted to savor every second of it.

I don’t know that I’ll ever not smile when I think about that kiss. It kind of makes me nervous for school tomorrow. I’m not sure where that kiss leaves us, but it felt like it was a statement. I just don’t know what exactly that statement was.

My phone buzzes in my back pocket. I roll over and pull it out, then fall onto my back again. It’s a text from Miller.

Miller: I don’t know about you, but sometimes when something significant happens, I get home and think of all the things I wish had gone differently. All the things I wish I would have said.

Me: Is that happening now?

Miller: Yes. I don’t feel like I was entirely forthcoming with you.

I roll onto my stomach, hoping to ease the nausea that just passed through me. It was going so well…

Me: What weren’t you honest about?

Miller: I was honest. Just not entirely forthcoming, if there’s a difference. I left a lot out of our conversation that I want you to know.

Me: Like what?

Miller: Like why I’ve liked you for as long as I have.

I wait for him to elaborate, but he doesn’t. I’m staring at my phone with so much intensity that I almost throw it when it rings unexpectedly. It’s Miller’s phone number. I hesitate before answering it, because I rarely ever talk on the phone. I much prefer texting. But he knows I have my phone in my hand, so I can’t very well send it to voice mail. I swipe my finger across the screen and then roll off the bed and head to my bathroom for more privacy. I sit on the edge of the tub.

“Hello?”

“Hey,” he says.

“Sorry. It’s too much to text.”

“You’re kind of freaking me out with all the innuendos.”

“Oh. No, it’s all good. Don’t be nervous. I just should have said this to you in person.” Miller inhales a deep breath, and then on the exhale, he starts talking. “When I was fifteen, I watched you in a school play. You had the lead role, and at one point, you performed a monologue that went on for like two whole minutes. You were so convincing and you looked so heartbroken I was ready to walk onto the stage and hug you. When the play was finally over and the actors came back out onto the stage, you were smiling and laughing, and there wasn’t a trace of that character left in you. I was in awe, Clara. You have this charisma about you that I don’t think you’re aware of, but it’s captivating. I was a scrawny kid as a sophomore, and even though I’m a year older than you, I hadn’t quite filled out yet, and I had acne and felt inferior to you, so I never worked up the courage to approach you. Another year went by, and I continued to admire you from afar. Like that time you ran for school treasurer and tripped walking off the stage, but you jumped up and did this weird little kick and threw your arms up in the air and made the entire audience laugh. Or that time Mark Avery popped your bra strap in the hallway, and you were so sick of him doing it that you followed him to his classroom, reached inside your hoodie, and took off your bra and then threw it at him. I remember you yelling something like, ‘If you want to touch a bra so damn bad, just keep it, you perv!’ Then you stormed out. It was epic. Everything you do is epic, Clara. Which is why I never had the courage to approach you, because an epic girl needs an equally epic guy, and I guess I’ve just never felt epic enough for you. I’ve said epic so many times in the last fifteen seconds—I’m so sorry.”

He’s out of breath when he finally stops talking.

I’m smiling so hard my cheeks ache. I had no idea he felt this way. No idea.

I wait a few seconds to make sure he’s done; then I finally respond. I’m pretty sure he can hear from my voice alone that I’m smiling. “First of all, it’s hard to believe you were ever insecure. And second, I think you’re pretty epic, too, Miller. Always have. Even when you were scrawny and had acne.”

He laughs a little. “Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

I can hear him sigh. “Glad I got that off my chest, then. See you at school tomorrow?”

“Good night.”

We end the call, and I don’t know how long I sit and stare at my phone.

You are ‘label-less’ in the fact that you write in several genres. Readers never know what to expect next. If someone asks, how do you label yourself?

When I self-published my first novel I had no idea what genre to put it in. I thought I had written a drama but it turns to that I had written a romance. I’ve learned a lot since then, but I still don’t put a lot of weight in genre when I write. When your best friend is begging you to read a book, it’s not going to matter what genre it is when someone you trust is passionate about the story.

To keep all of your stories and characters straight, you must be very organized.

I’m the most disorganized person you will ever meet! I have no schedule. I can’t wake up before nine in the morning. I probably don’t go to bed until like three in the morning. I usually work about 16 hours a day.

What happens if you get blocked when you are writing?

If I get stuck writing, I go for a drive and play music. Music really helps me plot. I love The Avett Brothers, X Ambassadors, Airborne Toxic Event…I could go on and on.

What can you tell readers about your latest release Regretting You?

I would spoil it if I told you about it! Most of my books are like that. I can’t say what they are about or it spoils it. But I can say that Regretting You is told from a dual point-of-view centered on the inner lives of both a teen and adult protagonist.

Sounds like lots of different types of readers will be interested!

Absolutely. I wanted to write a book that bridged the gap between young adult and contemporary romance so that mothers can read with their daughters. I think it’s exciting to see people sharing reading experiences.
