REVIEW:CHANGE WITH ME is the 17.5 instalment in Kristen Proby’s contemporary, adult WITH ME IN SEATTLE romance series and the author’s latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights. . This is thirty year old Hollywood star Zane Cooper, and primary school teacher Aubrey Stansfield’s story line. CHANGE WITH ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Zane and Aubrey) CHANGE WITH ME follows in the wake of a scandal for Hollywood star Zane Cooper. With another scandal slowly destroying his reputation, Zane Cooper has been advised to take a well-earned time out where he lands in Seattle for a six month hiatus but Zane never expected that the condo he rented came with another occupant in the guise of primary school teacher Aubrey Stansfield. A mix up in rentals finds Aubrey and Zane living together, a situation that begins to build a palpable sexual attraction between our couple, an attraction that Aubrey finds hard to understand. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Aubrey and Zane, and the potential fall-out as Aubrey finds herself on the outside looking in.

Aubrey considers herself a plain Jane; an unattractive nobody but a woman whose is strong enough to know when to walk away. Meeting Hollywood heart throb Zane Cooper has our heroine believing she is out of her league never expecting to fall for a man who could have the love of anyone he wants.

The relationship between Aubrey and Zane begins as forced proximity, a mix up in rentals that finds our couple living together in spite of everything that went wrong. From the outset, Aubrey knows exactly who and what Zane Cooper represents but our heroine is one of the few people to treat Zane Cooper like one of the boys. The $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to Zane’s friends and fellow actress Rina and Ben (Shine With Me 15.5), as well as Hunter Myers (Flirt With Me).

CHANGE WITH ME is a story of friendships and relationships, understanding and love. The fast paced premise is engaging and entertaining; the romance is swift and sexy; the characters are energetic and fun.

“Who are you?”
My heart jumps, and my stomach jolts as I spin and see a man walk out of the master bath. He’s tall. He’s frowning.
And he looks familiar.
“The question is, who are you?” Why did I leave my purse—and my mace—in the kitchen?
“You’re in my condo,” he retorts.
“No, you’re in my condo,” I reply and cross my arms over my chest, trying to look mean. “This is two-oh-three A. Mine. If you’re going to murder-death-kill me, I’m going to ask you to take today off and do it to someone else because I’ve had a long drive, and I need to get ready for my new job. Now, see yourself out.”
Is that me, sounding all calm and collected?
I’m never this calm. Or collected.
Seattle is clearly good for me.
“I hate to burst your bubble,” the stranger replies, “but I’m not leaving. I leased this place, and I’m moving in today.”
“But.” I frown. “I leased this place. And I’m moving in today.”
I stomp out of the bedroom and head straight for the kitchen, opening my bag to retrieve my phone.
I also set my mace on the counter, just in case.
“I can show you the lease.”
“Same,” he replies. “Landlord fucked up.”
I blink, open my mouth, then close it again.
“What’s in here?” He opens my pink box and surveys the goods. “These cake donuts are my weakness.”
Before my eyes, he grabs one and takes a big bite.
“So now you’re stealing my house and my food?”
“I didn’t steal anything,” he says with a full mouth. “Well, except the donut.”
“You’re going to have to move,” I inform him. “I already paid for the first month and the security deposit.”
“I paid six months in advance,” he says, swallows, and then smiles. Suddenly, I know exactly where I’ve seen him before.
This is Zane Cooper. The actor. The celebrity.
He must see the recognition in my eyes because his go ice-cold.
“I can’t afford to find a new place,” I inform him. “It took me a month to find this one. And it’s perfect for me. It’s less than six blocks from the school I’ll be teaching at, so I can walk every day. And it’s furnished. Plus, it’s close to the water.”
“Definitely perfect,” he agrees.
“Oh my God, why are you here?” I demand and prop my hands on my hips. “You’re a gazillionaire. You could literally go anywhere. Why do you want my condo?”
“I’m not a gazillionaire,” he says and crosses his arms over his chest. “I’m more of a trazillionaire.”
“Pretty sure that’s the same thing. So, go build your own building and live in it.”
“Nah.” He picks a piece of donut out of his teeth and shakes his head slowly. “I don’t think I will. I’ll stay here.”
I blink at him and start to feel helpless. My savings is in this place. I don’t have enough left to rent anything else.
And I don’t have time. I start work in just three days.
Part of me wants to cry, but I’ll be damned if I let this hoity-toity movie star see me upset.
So, I do the only thing I can think of.
I prop my fist on the opposite hand in a challenge of rock, paper, scissors.
“What are you doing?” he asks, raising one sexy eyebrow.
“The adult thing,” I reply primly. “Best out of three wins?”
He blinks twice, looks from my hands to my face and back again, then shrugs one muscular shoulder and assumes the position.
“Fine,” he says. “I’m going to win—wait. What’s your name?”
“Aubrey,” I say and lick my lips. “Aubrey Stansfield. And you’re Wyatt Earp.”
His lips twitch into a half-smile. “I only played him on TV.”
I chuckle and say, “Ready?”
“Go,” he says, and we thump our fists three times.
I land on scissors.
He fists for rock.
Damn it.
“Let’s go again,” Zane says.
One. Two. Three.
I land on paper.
He chooses rock again.
I grin, and his blue eyes smile back.
There’s a reason Zane Cooper is the hottest sex symbol in the world. Good God, I might combust just from standing next to him.
All the more reason to get him out of my house.
“Last one,” I say. “Go.”
One. Two. Three.
I land on paper again, assuming Zane only knows how to use rock.
But he forms scissors.
I breathe deeply and reach for my last damn donut.
“That’s mine,” he says, and I whirl on him.
“This is mine,” I reply hotly. “I stood in a bloody line in Portland for it, just this morning. I drove all the way here from Arizona. I’m tired. I’m a little scared. And now I have you in my house, and you won’t leave. Even better than that, you just stole it out from under me.”
“I won it,” he reminds me. “Fair and square. The donut, that is.”
I stop and frown at him. “Huh?”
“I won the donut. In the rock-paper-scissors game.”
“I was playing for the condo, Wyatt.”
He barks out a laugh. “Not me. I want that donut.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 1, 2021.

My uncle may be the boss of the Chicago Outfit, but there’s one man even he fears, Giovanni Guerra. Yet he sold me to him—as his wife. For an alliance. For power.

The boss of the New York family is beautiful and deadly, and he stokes a fire in me that might destroy us both. He may believe he was sold a submissive mafia princess, but Giovanni Guerra is about to find out that I am no one’s pawn.

The only vow I make is one of lust and fury.

•••••••

REVIEW:A VOW OF LUST AND FURY by LP Lovell is a contemporary, adult, dark, erotic, Mafia, romance found in the multi-authored UNDERWORLD KINGS series, set in the author’s Kiss of Death world. This is Mafia boss Giovanni Guerra, and eighteen year old, Mafia princess Emilia Donato’s story line.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise including graphic violence, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Giovanni and Emilia) A VOW OF LUST AND FURY focuses on the selling of our heroine to Giovanni Guerra. The Chicago Donato Mafia family are desperate for more power, and to ensure an alliance Sergio Donato sold his niece to Giovanni Guerra. An unwilling and uncooperative hostage, Emilia Donato intends to make Giovanni’s life a living h*ll, killing him if necessary, as a last resort. Emilia knows first hand the cruelty and abuse inflicted upon the woman in the mob, nothing more than chattel, possessions to be bought and sold, and in this our heroine would rather die than face a future as a prisoner or a slave but all is not well between the Italian and the Irish mobs, and men will be targeted, with losses on both sides, losses that will affect everyone going forward. What ensues is the building relationship between Giovanni and Emilia, and the fall-out as betrayal and vengeance are the name of the game.

The relationship between Giovanni and Emilia is an arranged marriage, of sorts; a payment for a debt in which Emilia wants nothing to do with our story line hero, a man who is willing to die to protect the woman that calls to his heart but Emilia refuses to bend to the will of Giovanni Guerra, and in this many her attempts to free herself find one final act of desperation that is about to spiral out of control. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

We are introduced to Emilia’s father Robert, her uncle Sergio, and her brothers Luca and Renzo; Sergio’s right hand man Matteo; Giovanni’s men Tommy and Jackson, as well as Nero and Una (Kiss of Death). Emilia’s close relationship with Renzo will be called into play.

A VOW OF LUST AND FURY is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, death, torture, abuse, family dysfunction. The premise is dark, gritty, haunting and graphic; the characters are stubborn and wounded; the romance is aggressive, and edgy. A VOW OF LUST AND FURY ends on a cliff-hanger. I do not have any information about the next instalment.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 30, 2021.

Sure, a certain handsome commando is thoughtful, funny, and undeniably hot, but Pepper’s had her heart broken before, and she won’t let it happen again. Not to her or her little girl, even if this hero could melt any woman’s resolve.

Augustus “Auggie” Hero can’t deny his attraction to beautiful, warm-hearted Pepper or how much he wants to make a home with her and her little girl, but Pepper’s mixed signals have kept him away. That is, until Juno decides to play matchmaker. Her efforts finally bring Pepper into his arms, but they expose the danger Pepper is in. To protect Pepper and Juno, Auggie will have to live up to his last name and prove happy endings aren’t just for fairy tales.

REVIEW:DREAM KEEPER is the fourth instalment in Kristen Ashley’s contemporary, adult DREAM TEAM erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a group of exotic dancers and friend who call themselves the ‘Dream Team’. This is twenty-seven single mother/dancer Pepper Hannigan, and thirty-four year old, former US soldier turned commando Augustus ‘Auggie’ Hero’s story line. DREAM KEEPER can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order. DREAM KEEPER and the Dream Team series is a spin-off from the author’s Rock Chick, Chaos and Dream Man series. Several characters cross over or are mentioned from the aforementioned series.

Told from first person perspective (Pepper) and dual third person (Auggie and Juno) following several paths, DREAM KEEPER focuses on the building romance and relationship between twenty-seven single mother/dancer Pepper Hannigan, and thirty-four year old, former US soldier turned commando Augustus ‘Auggie’ Hero, and the awkwardly dysfunctional families from whom both Pepper and Auggie were raised. Pepper Hannigan is a single mother to eight year old Juno, and in this, Juno’s happiness and safety have always come first but when Augustus Hero steps up his seduction and desire for our story line heroine, Pepper’s on again/off again attitude pushes Auggie out of her life unknowingly upsetting her daughter in the process. Juno is a precocious eight year old child who is desperate to reunite her mother with Auggie, and in this, works behind the scenes in an effort to push the couple together.

Meanwhile, Auggie’s past aka his mother and father’s relationship continues to implode pushing their drama up front and center in his relationship with Pepper but Pepper’s extended family drama is threatening the lives of the people he loves. Auggie, along with his team of commandos, begins an investigation of their own, not liking what they discover and how it will affect Pepper going foward. What ensues is the friends to lovers, rebuilding relationship, and romance between Auggie and Pepper, as our couple must navigate the fall-out and blow out of the Hero family histrionics, and the Hannigan family spiral out of control.

Pepper Hannigan’s life has not always been easy but Pepper refuses to expose Juno to the life she once led, a life that is about to reveal an uglier truth. Auggie Hero doesn’t trust easily having watched his parent’s relationship crumble along with one of his own but something about Pepper calls to his heart, a heart that will force Auggie to walk with Pepper’s mixed messages.

The relationship between Auggie and Pepper has been building for several years as Auggie’s attraction to our heroine was immediate but Auggie knew Pepper was a single mother whose first choice would always be the love for her child, and in this Auggie bided his time before making a move. Pepper never wanted to hurt the man with whom she would fall in love but words said in anger pushed Auggie out of Pepper’s life, words directed at our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Pepper’s eight year old daughter Juno; her ex Corbin Patrick, Pepper’s parents, and her siblings Saffron and Birch; Auggie’s parents Demetrios and Dana Hero; the Dream Team girls and their significant others: Lottie and Mo, Boone and Ryn, Axl and Hattie; their boss Ian, and his nephew Dorian; Cisco aka Brett Rappaport; office manager Elvira, and several members from the Chaos MC, fellow commandos including Billy and Marques, and the introduction of Lieutenant Stephanie Fortune.

DREAM KEEPER is a story of family and relationships-dysfunctional family dynamics, betrayal and obsession, power and control, secrets and lies. The character driven premise is fast paced, detailed, twisted, and tragic-like all Kristen Ashley’s storylines follows a similar path and history; the characters are spirited, edgy and inspiring; the romance is intimate and intense.

Auggie stood at the front of the church and watched her walk down the aisle. The bridesmaids’ dresses Lottie chose were very Lottie. Sleek. Sexy. Baring.
All the women looked great in them, but none of them looked better than Pepper.
And he thought that even before Pepper, as she strutted down the aisle, caught sight of her daughter, Juno, and shot her girl a huge smile.
Pepper Hannigan was gorgeous.
Anytime she was with her daughter?
Knockout.
They were the next in the line of Lottie’s matches. Auggie and Pepper.
Mo and Lottie were the obvious firsts (Mo was one of Aug’s four best buds), and Lottie earning the love of Mo had been all Lottie’s idea.
Mo never thought he’d find anyone as fantastic as Lots, would never go for it, until Lottie talked him around.
Now Mo was standing at the front of their line, waiting to make her his wife.
Once Lottie got her happy ending, she set about giving the same thing to Mo’s friends…fixing them up with her own crew.
And so far, she’d done a bang-up job.
Mag and Evie, the second couple, were living together and getting married.
Boone and Ryn, the third, were tight, and further, they were in business together.
Axl and Hattie, the fourth, were as good as living together, and practically inseparable. It was him and Pepper who were the holdouts.
This was not for lack of trying on Auggie’s part.
Once he’d met her, Auggie saw no reason not to go for it.
She was gorgeous. She was funny. She spoke her mind. She was laid back. Together. She didn’t seem to have any hang-ups.
But Pepper saw reason not to give it a shot because she had a kid.
He got it. She was being careful. Whatever had torn her and Juno’s dad apart had made her skittish.
So yeah.
He got it.
That didn’t mean it wasn’t torture.
Like right now, when her eyes caught his, the smile that she gave her kid still in them,
and Auggie felt that. He felt it.
Damn.
It wasn’t even aimed at him in any real way, and that residual love she’d targeted at her daughter was so big, it took forever to fade away.
He’d never felt that kind of love.
Not once in his life.
And he wanted it so bad, the backs of his teeth hurt with the need to taste it.
He lost her attention when she shifted to take her place at the front of the church and
Auggie tore his gaze away from her to watch the next woman, Hattie, march down the aisle. On its way, his gaze snagged on Juno.
Dark hair to her mom’s blonde, she was all dressed up, her hair curled —her mom was a bridesmaid in a big wedding with all the prep that entailed, but it was clear Juno had not been forgotten.
She was staring at her mother, beaming with pride.
Seeing that beam made Auggie want even more of what he’d never had. From the both of them.

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn’t taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

But this cowboy has a dark secret he can never escape, and Blaze fears the day when his demons catch up to him.

Dakota Nguyen has everything a she-wolf could ever want—an appointment as one of the pack’s first female elite warriors, a career as the ranch’s veterinarian, and an endearing family that’s equal parts loveable and trouble. There’s just one thing missing—someone to share it with. Enter: Blaze. For the first time ever, Dakota’s now seeing her best friend in a whole new light. But to act on her desires could have deadly consequences for them both.

REVIEW:WILD COWBOY WOLF is the fifth instalment in Kait Ballenger’s contemporary, adult SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS erotic, paranormal romance series. This is security technology specialist and warrior Blaze Carter, and veterinarian Dakota Nguyen’s story line. WILD COWBOY WOLF can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. SEVEN RANGE SHIFTERS is a spin off from the author’s EXECUTION UNDERGROUND Series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premies, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Blaze and Dakota) WILD COWBOY WOLF follows the friends to lovers relationship between wolf shifters security technology specialist and warrior Blaze Carter, and veterinarian Dakota Nguyen. Blaze has loved Dakota for as long as he can remember but the demons from his past refuse to let go such that to claim Dakota as his mate means to place Dakota in the direct line of fire. Once a member of the shifters only MAC-V-Alpha team with the US Army, Blaze’s last undercover assignment in Russia broke our hero, leaving him struggling in the wake of witnessing the atrocities and brutality of the group under investigation. When a pack mate goes missing, and several cattle are destroyed, the return of his old enemy is first and foremost on his mind, leaving Blaze battling the ghosts of battles lost. What ensues is the reluctant but building romance and relationship between Blaze and Dakota, and the potential fall-out as the pack is targeted in a vicious act of vengeance and power.

Blaze Carter’s past is shrouded in secrets having spent several months undercover on assignment in Russia but Blaze’s secrets are destroying the man with whom Dakota has fallen in love. As the newest member of the Seven Range Shifter warriors Dakota wants to prove herself capable as everyone else but Blaze’s need to protect Dakota goes into overdrive with reality that his past has resurfaced, hoping to finish the job.

The relationship between Dakota and Blaze is a fated mates wherein Blaze struggles to claim our heroine in the wake of his inability to let go of the past. Blaze knows it is only a matter of time before everyone he loves is target, and in this, not claiming Dakota means protecting the woman with whom he had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and intense but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Grey Wolf packmaster Maverick and his mate Sierra (Fierce Cowboy Wolf 3), warrior and pack medic Austin, doctor Belle Beaumont, Malcolm and Kieran. Not everyone will survive the upcoming battle.

WILD COWBOY WOLF is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and obsession, friendships, family, relationships and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is passionate; the characters are compelling and determined.

“Be vewy quiet. We’re hunting wabbits,” Blaze whispered, after they’d encountered their fourth hare in the forest underbrush with not so much as a single vampire in sight.
“That reference is lost on me,” Dakota answered.
“It’s Elmer Fudd from Looney Tunes. It’s an American cartoon classic,” Blaze answered. “We’ll work on it.” Crouching down in the brush, with a quick lash of his hand, he snatched the hare from beneath the patch of rocky mountain juniper by its long hind legs. The tiny animal had been unsuspectingly nibbling on the foliage, unaware that two wolves approached.
The small animal wriggled in his grip, tiny heart thumping in response to the predator now holding it as Blaze’s eyes flashed to wolf. “You could at least make it difficult,” he said to the creature. “Next time, I’ll eat you for dinner.” He released the hare back into the underbrush, watching it dart off into the darkness of the forest.
Dakota sighed. “Unless you plan to actually eat it, leave the bunnies alone.”
Typical animal lover.
From the way Dakota spoke about their prey when in human form, no one outside the pack would know she was a fierce she- wolf. That love of animals coupled with her organized, analytical nature made her an excellent veterinarian.
Blaze grumbled, resting his arms on his knees. He stared into the shadows, still watching the spot where the hare had disappeared. “They make it too easy.”
“Spoken like a true wolf.”
Blaze’s eyes burned brighter gold. He grinned in response.
It was the first true exchange they’d had since they’d left the pasture to tromp through the forest several hours earlier. They’d caught the sickly sweet scent of vampire on the breeze, the smell instantly stirring their wolf senses, but any actual encounters had proved elusive.
But they were out there. The smell of the cattle’s death in the field would draw their intrigue.
“Why do you think the vampires are draining animals?” Dakota used the stake he’d given her to gesture to where the bunny had been. “Malcolm mentioned a deer being drained in the forest when we were on patrol the other night, and now this.”
Considering everything going on lately, Blaze wasn’t entirely certain the vampires were the sole culprits. The smell of this much death would have drawn them, and they never missed a chance to attack the pack. Old rivalries died hard, but…
He shook his head. He still couldn’t bring himself to speak their name. The packmaster had warned him about being too paranoid. Perhaps he’d been so focused on his past that he wasn’t seeing what was laid out directly in front of him? Even if his enemies had come for him, they’d send two, maybe three, since they’d know from his file what he was capable of.
That small number would be enough to do the necessary damage both to him and the pack. The carnage of a dozen dead cattle they’d left behind in the field was only worthy of one—and after what he’d done to them in Dark Force, they wouldn’t take their chances. Not to mention they never drained animals.
They devoured, maimed.
Destroyed.
He inhaled a deep breath, trying to reassure himself further. Not
to mention all the occurrences around the ranch and the disappear- ance of the subpack member had had little to do with him. After Dark Force, they were supposed to be extinct after all.
But his instincts said otherwise.
Blaze shrugged, still crouched near the forest floor. “There’s no
wild cowboy wolf 107
way to know why they’re feeding on animals unless we find one and ask it.”
Dakota scoffed at his sarcasm. “You know those bloodsuckers are too tight-lipped to converse with us, even under duress—sick, insatiable monsters that they are. They—”
“Dakota, behind you!” Blaze shouted in warning.
At his word, Dakota plunged the stake in a downward arc beneath her armpit, driving it into the bloodsucker’s stomach. The vamp had come on so fast using that damn warp-level speed of theirs that there’d been barely a second for her to prepare for it. But Dakota had been ready. She spun, quickly wrenching the stake from the vampire’s stomach only to plunge it ruthlessly into the monster’s pulsing dead heart.
Blaze grinned with pride.
The vampire sputtered for a moment before bursting like the blood bag that it was, coating him and mainly Dakota in a spray of grime. That was hardly the last of it. Their kills were so much cleaner in wolf form—then he only needed to wash the blood from the fur of his neck and muzzle. But there’d be more vampires where that came from.
Blaze shot to his feet, sensing another vamp approaching to their right. The bloodsucker raced up on him, long fangs bared. The strength and teeth of a vampire could prove deadly to their kind, if the knife in the other creature’s hand didn’t. He’d seen it happen too many times before.
But those wolves hadn’t been him.
Meeting the bloodsucker blow for blow, he blocked the incoming blade by catching the vamp’s arm with his own. He leveraged the millisecond of the vamp’s hesitation and wrenched his dagger from its sheath on his chaps. With a fierce snarl, Blaze sliced his blade across the bloodsucker’s torso. The vampire let out a screeching hiss, stumbling back.
Without warning, Blaze shifted into wolf form, clothes falling to the forest floor beneath him as his limbs twisted and his fur burst forth. The instant his paws connected with the cool mountain ground, he charged, meeting the bloodsucker head-on. This first vamp went down easy. The second, even easier. By the third, he was getting bored.
Darting forward, he rushed the monster, sharp claws scraping and jaws snapping. The scuffle continued for several moments longer until finally he pinned the monster. The vampire had put up a fight, but not one worthy of him.
Canines bared, Blaze snarled before he ripped into the flesh of the vampire’s throat. The metallic, iron taste of blood coated his furred maw. On his hind legs and neck, his hackles raised. Inside, his instincts prickled with awareness. A familiar scent caught in his nose.
Dakota.
With all the force of an alpha wolf guarding his mate, Blaze felt a protective surge race through him. He whipped around in search of her. He hadn’t been able to keep his eyes on her lest they both get themselves killed. But it hadn’t mattered. She was too fierce a warrior. She didn’t need him to save her. The leftover remains of two vampires lay beside her cowgirl boots, and she was coated nearly head to toe in blood—the blood of their enemies that she’d shed.
The gold of her wolf eyes burned like a beacon in the darkness, and she growled as she cast him a censuring look. “You were supposed to stay in human form.”

REVIEW:VIKTOR is the eleventh instalment in Kym Grosso’s contemporary adult IMMORTALS OF NEW ORLEANS erotic, paranormal romance series. This is ancient vampire Viktor Christianson, and museum curator Waverly LaFleur’s story line. VIKTOR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as the story line references a number of past events.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Viktor and Waverly) VIKTOR follows the building romance and relationship between ancient vampire Viktor Christianson, and museum curator Waverly LaFleur. When her best friend Teagan goes missing, Waverly started searching the local supernatural clubs where she would come face to face with Viktor Christianson but Waverly doesn’t do the paranormal like her roommate Teagan, including the man with whom she will fall in love. When an anonymous donor offers up a priceless piece of art for the museum’s fund raiser, Waverly, once again, comes face to with Viktor Christianson, and will quickly discover that the piece of art offered hides another artifact once thought long lost and buried. As Viktor and Waverly begin a search for the original owner, Viktor comes to realize that his past may have resurfaced, and has taken aim at our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Viktor and Waverly, and the potential fall-out as the underworld is struggling to hold onto one of its’ own.

Viktor Christianson has been alone most of his life having suffered horrendously at the hands of his vampire sire but meeting Waverly LaFleur stirs something deep within our story line hero, something Viktor never thought possible in the face of the abuse and evil he has endured. Waverly LaFleur is adamant about not getting involved in the supernatural community but her attraction to Viktor is stronger than her ability to stay uninvolved but as Waverly and Viktor begin their search for the who, what, and why, Waverly slowly falls for the man that will claim her body and soul.

The relationship between Viktor and Waverly is that of fated mates. Viktor never thought he would find his bond-mate but something about Waverly draws Viktor like a moth to a flame. Viktor is unable to walk away, and their palpable sexual attraction does not go unnoticed by Viktor’s supernatural family. Refusing to claim Waverly without her consent, Viktor bides his time, time that may be Viktor and Waverly’s ultimate betrayal. The $ex scene are intimate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Viktor’s brother Greyson; Viktor’s hybrid ‘child’ Rafe; as well as Quintus, Sebastian, and Ilsbeth, and Waverly’s former college friend Adam. The requisite evil has many faces.

VIKTOR is a complex and detailed story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is powerful and captivating; the romance is seductive and intense; the characters are energetic, dynamic, and edgy.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 30, 2021

Tis the season for an MC Christmas. 10 steamy stories sure to make the naughty list this year.

••••••••

REVIEW:NOTE: A VERY NAUGHTY MC CHRISTMAS contains graphic language, text, and sexual scenarios that may not be suitable for all readers.

My review covers KL Savage, and Cassandra Robbins’ story line.

ELLE’S MISCHIEF (Ruthless Kings MC) by KL Savage

Told from several firsts person perspectives including Elle, Poodle, Reaper and Braveheart, ELLE’S MISCHIEF focuses on James ‘Poodle’ Winston’s fourteen year old daughter Ellie and her obsession with learning to drive a motorcycle. Convincing her father to teach her to drive, Ellie is surprised when Poodle finally relents, and allows Ellie to take his bike for a spin. With the approach of the Christmas holidays, Ellie, along with Reaper’s adopted daughter Maizey, want to shop for their MC uncles, so Maizey convinces a reluctant Ellie to drive to the store, taking Reaper’s motorcycle in the process but all does not go well, and Ellie and Maizey find themselves in a precarious position facing the wrath of the Ruthless Kings president.

The epilogue of ELLE’S MISCHIEF advances the series approximately four years wherein we see a possible love interest for Poodle’s now eighteen year old daughter Ellie, and the potential fall out as Ellie’s crush believes there is no way he is going to survive.

ELLE’S MISCHIEF is a quick read; a fast paced, holiday novella where many of the previous story line characters from KL Savage’s interconnected series are reunited for a Christmas celebration. The premise is entertaining; the $ex scenes are intimate and provocative; the characters are familiar, colorful and charismatic.

______

CLUBHOUSE CHRISTMAS (The Disciples 4.5) by Cassandra Robbins

Told from several first person perspective (Blade, Axel, Edge, Poet,Ryder) CLUBHOUSE CHRISTMAS focuses on several couples on Christmas morning as the Disciples MC embark on a Christmas celebration but all is not well when the Club wakes to the destruction of the clubhouse decorations.

The reader is up close and personal with club president Blade and his wife Eve McCormick, Axel and Antoinette Fontaine, Edge and Dolly Daniels, Poet and Charlie on Christmas morning as each couple prepares for the day, and Blade tries to gain control of a disastrous holiday celebration.

CLUBHOUSE CHRISTMAS is another quick read; fast paced holiday novella that revisits the previous story line couples, their growing and expanding families, and their struggles to move forward. The premise is engaging; the characters are familiar and edgy; the $ex scenes are provocative and raw. Ryder’s story is next.

REVIEW:SHOT ACROSS THE BOW is the fifth instalment in Julie Ann Walker’s contemporary, adult DEEP SIX romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former US Navy SEALs who own and operate a marine salvage business-Deep Six Salvage. This is former Navy SEAL Spiro ‘Romeo’ Delgado, and marine archeologist Mia Ennis’s story line. SHOT ACROSS THE BOW can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. The DEEP SIX series is a spinoff from Julie Ann’s BLACK KNIGHTS INC series. Romeo and Mia’s story started in book four DEEPER THAN THE OCEAN.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DEEP SIX series follows six former military or special ops agents who, upon retirement, set up their own business running secret missions behind the scenes. Searching for the wreck of the Santa Cristina near Wayfarer Island, the Deep Six team continues to encounter terrorists, pirates and drug runners on their hunt for sunken treasure.

Told from several third person perspectives including Romeo and Mia, Doc and Cami, SHOT ACROSS THE BOW follows the Deep Six team as they continue their search for a sunken treasure off Wayfarer Island but three members of the team-Romeo, Mia and Doc-along with property attorney Cami D’Angelo find themselves stranded on a small, remote island when an explosion sends their plane into the ocean, an explosion that may have targeted one of the people on board. As the foursome set about making a temporary shelter, past histories reveal startling revelations wherein anyone could have been in the direct line of fire. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Romeo and Mia, and the potential fall-out as the foursome find themselves facing down more than one gunmen when the true target is revealed.

Meanwhile, Dalton ‘Doc’ Simmons finds himself in an acrimonious relationship with the team’s property attorney Cami D’Angelo, a relationship fraught with palpable sexual attraction disguised by animosity, fueled by circumstance.

The relationship between Mia and Romeo is one of immediate attraction but Mia’s past refuses to let go, controlling all of her actions going forward. Believing she is not worthy of love, Mia is constantly pulling away from the man with whom she will fall in love, a man who has made it clear, he too wants nothing permanent going forward.Stranded together, Mia and Romeo find themselves acting on their mutual attraction, an attraction that is quickly crossing the line from friendship to love. The lone $ex scene is passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Mason McCarthy and Alexandra Merriweather; LT Anderson and Olivia, Dalton ‘Doc’ Simmons, attorney Cami D’Angelo, as well as Mia’s mother Jane Ennis, and her cousin Carter. Doc and Cami’s story line is next in DEAD IN THE WATER.

SHOT ACROSS THE BOW is a story of betrayal and vengeance, greed and jealousy, dysfunctional family dyanamics, friendships, relationships, sacrifice and love. The character driven premise is edgy and compelling but the guilty party is revealed early on, therefore the intrigue and suspense is limited; the characters are animated and dynamic; the romance is compelling and intimate.

The DEEP SIX series is an imaginative, detailed and impassioned series that reveals the destructive nature of greed and power across all walks of life.

He noticed the sand had turned cool beneath his bare feet as he led her toward the western tip of the island. For a long time, he stayed as silent as she did. Listening to the waves hiss against the shoreline. Enjoying the gentle warmth of the evening breeze as it teased across his skin. Sneaking glances at her pretty profile and fantasizing about running his finger from the slope of her smooth forehead down to her button nose and ending under her stubborn little chin.
Eventually, though, he couldn’t stand her silence any longer. “You’re being awfully quiet this evening.” He realized what he’d said, and rephrased. “I mean, quieter than usual. What’s on your mind?”
She tentatively met his searching gaze. For a moment, he thought she wouldn’t answer. Then, she did. And when she did, the simple truth of her words, and the way she said them without ego or artifice, hit him like a grenade from a rocket launcher. “The answer to that question is the same as it’s been for the last couple of months. You. You’re what’s on my mind. It’s always you.”
“My god, Mia.” His voice sounded like it’d been raked over rocks on the way out of his mouth. “You have no idea—”
He stopped there, because he wasn’t sure what he even wanted to say. That she had no idea what she did to him? That she had no idea how she made him feel? That she had no idea that it was taking the last bit of his willpower not to pull her to him so he could taste the mouth those sweet words came out of?
She placed a gentle hand in the center of his chest, and his heart thudded up to meet her touch. “Are we about to become lovers?” Her expression seemed pensive.
When the wind whipped some of her hair across her face, he did something he’d been longing to do since the day they met. He brushed the wavy lock behind the delicate shell of her ear, letting the strands slip slowly through his fingertips.
“I want that,” he admitted in a voice so low it was barely more than a growl. “Is that what you want?”
His heart tripped over itself when something that looked very much like indecision moved behind her eyes.
“Yes,” she finally answered, and he realized his shoulders had tensed, because they suddenly relaxed. “But…” She frowned. “Can you promise, no matter what, we’ll stay friends? I don’t think I could stand it if—”
He silenced her by placing a finger over her lips. He’d have rather used his mouth for the job, but once he started kissing her, he wouldn’t be able to stop. And right then she needed his words, not his tongue.
“I will never stop being your friend, cariña,” he swore to her.
She looked relieved. But it only lasted a second before her brow beetled again.
He used her troubled expression as an excuse to run his finger over her forehead, down her pert nose, and beneath her stubborn chin. There, he stopped, tilting her face up so that she was forced to hold his gaze. “What is it?” he asked quietly. “Tell me.”
“I haven’t…” She rolled in her lips when the words seemed to get stuck in the back of her throat. After a second, she tried again. “I haven’t had as many lovers as you have. I might not be what—”
He didn’t let her finish. He didn’t need to. “Mia, my sweet, sexy woman, believe me when I say that’s nothing you have to worry about.”
She nodded. But he could tell she was still nervous.
Who could blame her? Doc had accused him of staring at her like he’d like to eat her whole. What small, delicate creature wouldn’t be nervous when she found herself caught in the sights of a much bigger, much hungrier predator?
But he wasn’t going to eat Mia in one giant gulp. Mia wasn’t a fast-food french fry. She was a seven-course meal from a Michelin-starred restaurant.
He was going to eat her slowly, lick by lick. And bite by delicious bite.
But first…
“Breathe, cariña.” He tucked another unruly strand of hair behind her ear because he couldn’t get enough of touching her. “We aren’t going to start now.”
Not that he didn’t want to. He’d have liked it if they never stopped after that first kiss. But she was all up in her head, and that’s the last place he wanted her. When he made his move, and he would make his move, he wanted her totally in her body.
“Let’s sit down.” He gestured to a small log that had washed up on the beach. It was bare of bark and made smooth by its time at sea. “Will you read to me?”
When she nodded, he led her to the driftwood. After sinking down beside her, he let out a contented sigh when she unzipped her purse, took out the book, and began to read.
Her husky voice drifted in the salty evening air, sounding like pure seduction. And the blush on her cheeks was a soft, delicate pink that matched the sunset-tinged clouds.
It was an odd feeling to know that, despite the loss of his plane, despite their precarious predicament, he’d never been happier than he was right then. Sitting next to her. His thigh touching her thigh. The waning light bathing them both. And the anticipation of what was to come humming softly in the air around them.
And what happens after? the voice in the back of his head asked.
He wished the sonofabitch had a face so he could plant his fist in it. The voice had never cared about after before, so why was it talking about after now?
After doesn’t matter, he assured the voice and himself. After we’ll be friends, just like I promised. And in the meantime…
She would be his. And that would be enough.
He would make sure it was enough.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 16, 2021.

Jamie Lathan is a formidable warrior, yet his life depends not only on his legendary prowess with a sword, but on keeping a dangerous secret. Like his mother, Jamie wields the power of healing magic. From childhood, he knew that those skills, often feared in a woman, would be condemned outright in a man. Discovery could mean imprisonment or death, but Jamie soon learns that denying his compulsion to heal is to deny the very core of himself.

Aftyn Keith desperately tries to fill the role of Healer after her mother dies unexpectedly. Still an apprentice, ill-prepared and hampered by her illegitimate birth, Aftyn knows that her best may not be enough to keep her place as a useful member of the clan. When a handsome Lathan warrior with healing skills far beyond her ken arrives and succeeds in saving his gravely injured kinsman, she begs him to teach her.

Jamie risks everything in choosing to trust Aftyn. But when she unwittingly betrays him, Aftyn is faced with a decision that may gain Jamie’s freedom, but cost her the only home that she has ever known. In the face of her growing feelings for Jamie, she knows that either decision will leave her heart broken beyond any Healer’s mending.

•••••••••

REVIEW: This made for such a refreshing read after reading so many historical romances that all do the same thing….

Jamie might be a great swordsman and warrior, but he has a secret that if found out about will certainly end his life!He can heal the sick and wounded, and in those days it really was a woman’s job. But that’s not the issue, the problem is that he heals them with his hands!

Aftyn is a healer, but not a great one, her mother was so much better at it. But sadly she died, and Aftyn is left to fill the role. She has her mother’s journal to read and follow, but most of it is written in a way that Aftyn doesn’t understand! She feels like she’s going to fail, and be a useless healer. That is until she meets a stranger that knows how to heal! She needs his help and she needs it fast!

Jamie and Aftyn soon become each other’s confidantes, but can Jamie really trust her with his secret? And when Jamie is betrayed by Aftyn (but it was an accident) can she regain his trust?

Apparently this is the next generation of healers (Highland Talents) and I have to admit I’ve not read any of the previous books. And I don’t think it matters really, although I’m now interested in reading how the other series fares against this one. It’s the start of a new series, and one I’m going to be keeping an eye out for.

The lives of the chat came alive within this book, you could easily imagine the rolling hills and the hard life in which they lived. The interaction between Jamie and Aftyn was good, and as an added bonus they’d met each other as children (and that i thought was a nice touch)

For anyone who likes a historical romance, I’d happily recommend this one.
