New York. A restaurant near Park Avenue. It’s early evening, and dusk is falling. So is the snow. Jude and Carrie are only killing time while they wait for their flight to London. They don’t know yet that their life will never be the same.
When rock star Jude gets stranded in New York with his family on Christmas Eve, he has no idea that he is setting in motion a chain of events that will turn their Christmas into the most magical one yet…
No good deed goes unpunished, or so it seems to Jude and Carrie on the morning of the twenty-fourth of December. The previous day, they gave up their London-bound flights to someone in crisis. And now, a spectacular whiteout is grounding all planes, and Jude, Carrie, and baby Maya are stuck far from home.
Tired, hungry, and just a little panicked, Jude loads his family into a cab and returns to their hotel. But there’s no room at the inn, and not even a platinum credit card will make a difference. Snow is falling heavily, and the family is facing a very bleak night indeed.
How do you celebrate Christmas with no place to stay, no food, and no presents? Join Jude, Carrie, Maya and a cast of colourful characters in this fairy tale story of Yuletide in New York.

Fairy Tale in New York, a Holiday Novella, written by Author Nicky Wells, is the story of Jude, Carrie, and baby Maya. We first meet these characters in a previous novel titled Spirits of Christmas. Although I have not read the story with which these characters were first introduced, Ms. Wells brings her protagonists to life with such depth, and emotion, I felt a connection instantly. Considering the turn of events that have occurred for me personally this year, the magical season of the Holidays spent amongst family, and friends, has brought more magic, and comfort into my life than ever before. I needed an uplifting, festive holiday story to continue the feel good vibes. Fairy Tale in New York delivers such, in more than name only.
After a three week tour with his Rock Band The Blood Roses; our journey begins with Jude, and his long time girlfriend Carrie, awaiting a flight to spend their first Christmas as a family at home. Jude is a talented musician, who’s passion and love of his music shines through in this story. Although moderately known, and recognized by many, Jude has yet to make the “big time.” Despite being an honest to goodness Rock Star…readers get a sense of the caring, compassionate heart at the core of this man, very early on. Jude makes a split second decision, and gives up his plane ticket home, to an utterly frantic man, who’s wife has went into unexpected labor Christmas Eve. Not wishing to be separated, Carrie, and baby Maya stay behind as well, and the little family plans to take a later flight out.
Enter an Epic winter storm that grounds all flights. Fully booked hotels everywhere they turn. A city far from home with no contacts, friends, or loved ones to turn to….and this families dreams of the perfect holiday, fast becomes a nightmare far beyond anything they could have anticipated. All seems bleak, until a chance meeting with a man named Ray–during an impromptu winter stroll–changes everything. As the story unfolds, we see Jude’s one act of kindness extended towards a desperate stranger in need, create a chain of events that turn the couple’s worst nightmare; into the most magical fairy tale Christmas they could have ever experienced.
Nicky Wells manages to pack so much hope, goodwill, and inspiration into 131 pages, it is astounding. Once I became aware that things were turning around for the better for this little family, I found myself utterly dazzled by the Holiday magic woven into this story. A readers faith, and trust in humanity will be restored by the empathy, kindness, and compassion exchanged amongst complete strangers. And a wonderful twist will teach the lesson of being kind always, to everyone you meet…because you never know what, or “who” that person could turn out to be.
Fairytale in New York lives up to its Title. It is a fast paced, fantastic read that will leave you smiling for days to come. I cannot recommend this book highly enough, and consider this a must read for any Holiday TBR list. Bravo Ms. Wells, I certainly look forward to catching up on this talented Authors other work.

Yup. That’s me! 🙂 And I love rock music. I adore rock stars. They turn my head even today. Let’s face it–who could be a better romantic hero than a golden-voiced bad boy with a soft heart doing magic up on that stage?
My favourite bands include Bon Jovi, Europe, FM, Heart, Whitesnake, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Muse, AC/DC… the list goes on and on. I’ve always wondered what would happen when the girl next door (me?) meets a rock star. And that’s why I write what I write. Dive in and share the dream!
